*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1764858 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1764858 [SOLVED] I had similar problem as the bug report with similar outputs for requested commands. I got around by manually copying libzstd.so.1 libzstd.so.1.3.3 to libraries folder and it WORKED :) Steps involved: 1 . Download original .deb from http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/main/libz/libzstd/libzstd1_1.3.3 +dfsg-2ubuntu1_amd64.deb 2. Extract it downloads. 3. cd into the extracted folder libzstd1_1.3.3+dfsg-2ubuntu1_amd64 4. extract "data" folder 5. cd into Downloads 6. Run following commands sudo cp libzstd1_1.3.3+dfsg-2ubuntu1_amd64/data/usr/lib/x86_64-linux- gnu/libzstd.so.1 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ sudo cp libzstd1_1.3.3+dfsg-2ubuntu1_amd64/data/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libzstd.so.1.3.3 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ And dpkg works fine now -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1766046 Title: dpkg-deb error processing libc6_2.27, libzstd.so.1 is missing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glibc/+bug/1766046/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1766939] Re: dnsmasq won't start [Ubuntu 18.04]
Hi Nataraj, glad you found the config issue and resolved it yourself. For the open question how to control the dnsmasq - this is a formatting question. Sure if you happen to now how to configure dnsmasq you are fine also to use very special options. But the same could be said about controlling different hypervisors. Therefore libvirt provides you [1] for networking to control that via xml or libvirt api's and will generate the dnmasq conf for you. I'd not right away know of a way to fully allow editing the geenrated conf (for the generate step overwriting it as you realized). Setting "invalid" to reflect that you resolved your issue, I hope the above helps to understand the case better. [Bug 1767134] Re: package libvirt-daemon-system 4.0.0-1ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade: installed libvirt-daemon-system package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1
Interesting. I'm glad you resolved it on your own, but lets try to understand what happened if we can still do that after the cleanup. Touch erroring with "does not exist" means the path is gone. But this dir is part of package libvirt-daemon-system and if not removed should always be there. In general two questions would arise. 1. did you get it resolved with purge/reinstall (I'd think that should work, but obviously purge is too hard for some) 2. please check if /var/log/libvirt/qemu/ exists and is owned $ ls -laF /var/log/libvirt/qemu $ dpkg -S /var/log/libvirt/qemu If the above is good I'd wonder why it breaks, maybe permissions on that dir tree changed? I see above you already did #1, but if you have checked some data for #2 before you did so I'd still be interested to understand what was going on if you have e.g. the console output still. [Bug 1733557] Re: Login screen showing Authentication Failure Switch to greeter...
I have this problem, and found a thread here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/584207/cannot-log-in-at-locked-screensaver-must-log-in-with-switch-user?utm_medium=organic&utm_source=google_rich_qa&utm_campaign=google_rich_qa The fix that worked for me was a permission problem on /etc/shadow $ ls -l /etc/shadow -rw-r- 1 root shadow 2202 Jun 23 12:39 /etc/shadow For me the permission was: $ ls -l /etc/shadow -rw-r- 1 root root 2202 Jun 23 12:39 /etc/shadow When I changed the group to shadow and restarted the system. I was able to login from the lock screen again. The reason I believe that restarting is required is that the lightdm crashes if it cannot access the shadow file. and once it crashed, you get the message about authentication failure, switch to greeter. The explanation was that the lockscreen runs in user context, whereas the greeter runs as root, so the shadow group allows lightdm to access it. I tried the lock screen several times now, and it is solidly working. I did not change the group from shadow to root, so perhaps an update changed the file permission, or a patch changed the password utility. not sure. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1733557 Title: Login screen showing Authentication Failure Switch to greeter... Yes it's possible one of your icons uses 16-bit colour, and explains why we don't see other/many reports of this crash. [Bug 1767067] Re: Booting to live session fails with: at-spi-bus-launcher: unable to create file '/run/user/999/dconf/user': Permission denied.
@experimancer, I am sorry that you thought my response was arrogant. The nature of the release process is that it's not possible to provide an exact hour and minute for release. The release was announced months ago that it would happen on April 26. In an extraordinary event, it's possible for a release to slip as late as the next day. While this was an annoying bug, it is sadly not unusual for late issues to be discovered while getting ready to prepare the release. That is why we test release candidate images -- so that we can find important issues in time to fix them and still get the release out sometime on the promised day. Most of these late bugs never get any attention at all in social media or news sites. Since the release did happen on April 26 (at least in some timezones), there was no need to put out an announcement about it being late because it wasn't yet late really. Ubuntu simply has way too many users for Ubuntu volunteers like me to be able to provide all of you individualized attention and explanations as to why we don't have a more precise ETA. I found a work around. The thumb drive auto booted to the UEFI version of the installer. I have a non UEFI install of Windows 10 installed. I think that is why it crashed. [Bug 1767228] [NEW] Plasma Could Not Correctly Use OpenGL 2 after upgrading to 18.04
Public bug reported: After I upgrade Kubuntu from 17.10 to 18.04, and restarted it, all I'm seeing is my mouse cursor, which responds to my movements, and that's pretty much it. After logging in, the message says: Plasma is unable to start as it could not correctly use OpenGL 2. Please check that your graphics drivers are set up correctly. I checked the environment variable `$DISPLAY`, but it seems to be unset. I tried reinstalling `plasma-desktop`, `sddm`, `mesa` drivers, `xorg`, `xserver-xorg*intel`, `kde*`, `kwin`, and `nvidia-340` drivers. [Bug 1767162] Re: Random vertical stripes
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1767162/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
