[Bug 1554455] Re: "update-initramfs" is executed several times when you remove old kernels
Why is this still an issue? Why is it not resolved? It's been 2 years? Consider this simple scenario right now as I apt-get autoremove and it removes 4 old kernels. It also keeps 3 kernels. Generating the initrd for a single kernel takes ballpark 45 seconds. First step: remove one kernel and generate 6 (!!) initrds. Second step: remove another kernel. Generate 5 (!!) initrds. Step 3: remove another kernel. Generate 4 initrds. Step 4: remove fourth kernel. Generate 3 initrds. Final count: 18 initrds generated. That takes 13 minutes! It really only needed to generate 3, if that! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1554455 Title: "update-initramfs" is executed several times when you remove old kernels To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1554455/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1771726] Re: After gsch2pcb, pcb fails to open the new pcb file
Thanks Mitch. Point 1 is sort of iffy. In general, it would be nice to support spaces in filenames. Whether we like it or not, the computing world is moving in a direction where it is expected that you can do this. Point 2 is the real problem here, that gsch2pcb doesn't produce the correct output as a result of there being a space in the footprint filename. The bug is in the gsch2pcb.scm gnetlist backend... written in scheme... Maybe I can get one of the gschem/gnetlist developers to fix this. Point 3 is a bug in pcb, that pcb provides no explanation as to why it failed to load the file. Unfortunately, this may be a difficult bug to fix as our parser is not easy to work with. I'll have to dig into this at some point, but it's going to take a fair bit of time to work out. Possible workarounds: 1. Forego putting the footprint into gschem, and then add the footprint manually in pcb using File > Load element data to paste-buffer and then renaming the element with the correct refdes. 2. Create a copy of the offending footprint files, rename them without spaces, label the parts with those footprint names in gschem, and then point gsch2pcb at your local footprint library with the renamed parts. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1771726 Title: After gsch2pcb, pcb fails to open the new pcb file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/pcb/+bug/1771726/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1062412] Re: strace crashed with SIGSEGV in __GI_raise()
> Note that the CUPS version which I had run under strace had a segfault bug, but this should not make strace crash. Actually, there is a code in strace.c (main -> terminate() ) to raise the signal which killed the traced process. Strace does it exactly before exit https://github.com/strace/strace/blob/1d98b287a4cb6901d369d78126d481508f9e35ef/strace.c#L2655 if (exit_code > 0xff) { ... /* Child was killed by a signal, mimic that. */ exit_code &= 0xff; signal(exit_code, SIG_DFL); ... raise(exit_code); ... exit(exit_code); Code was added in 2008-09-29 commit https://github.com/strace/strace/commit/a68096576afc07e51d33b49c432d658b27a7f13c > (main): Exit/kill ourself with straced child's exitcode/signal. [Bug 1430741] Re: strace crashed with SIGABRT in __GI_raise()
Probably Spotify Linux Client process did crash with SIGABRT. strace detects that child was killed with the signal and raises same signal for itself just before exit (like in Bug #1062412) There is a code in strace.c (main -> terminate() ) to raise the signal which killed the traced process. Strace does it exactly before exit https://github.com/strace/strace/blob/1d98b287a4cb6901d369d78126d481508f9e35ef/strace.c#L2655 if (exit_code > 0xff) { ... /* Child was killed by a signal, mimic that. */ exit_code &= 0xff; signal(exit_code, SIG_DFL); ... raise(exit_code); ... exit(exit_code); Code was added in 2008-09-29 commit https://github.com/strace/strace/commit/a68096576afc07e51d33b49c432d658b27a7f13c > (main): Exit/kill ourself with straced child's exitcode/signal. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1430741 Title: strace crashed with SIGABRT in __GI_raise() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/strace/+bug/1430741/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

deeks9000, in order to allow additional upstream mainline kernel developers to examine the issue, at your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest mainline kernel available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ? Please keep in mind the following: 1) The one to test is at the very top line at the top of the page (not the daily folder). 2) The release names are irrelevant. 3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was released upstream. 4) Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . [Bug 1769236] Re: CPU frequency stuck at minimum value
I will attach /var/run/thermald/thermal-conf.xml.auto, and thermal.log (generated by sudo thermald --no-daemon --loglevel=debug) to illustrate thermald's bad behaviour. Thermal.log up to line 500 shows the output when the laptop was idling: sensor B0D4 stayed cooler than 40°C, the CPUs ran at 900 MHz, and thermald is (I think) using rapl_controller for thermal control. At that point I ran c-ray. CPU speed rose to 2400 MHz, and the temperature began to rise (53°C at line 528, 64°C at line 632). At line 656 thermald decided to switch from rapl_controller to intel_pstate. At line 699 intel_pstate disabled turbo; CPU speed dropped to 1800 MHz, and the temperature began to fall, from 71°C at line 686 down to 54°C at line 799. At that point, even though temperatures were falling and no fans were running, thermald switched from intel_pstate to intel_powerclamp. CPU speed dropped to 400 MHz, and performance tanked. I think this switch to intel_powerclamp is the problem. It seems to happen whenever the temperature exceeds 40°C for some number of polling periods, which is not a useful thermal policy. Most web sites drive the CPU hard enough to trigger it. ** Attachment added: "thermald loglevel=debug" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1769236/+attachment/5141770/+files/thermal.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1769236 Title: CPU frequency stuck at minimum value To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1769236/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1772205] [NEW] freeipa install does not correctly setup krb5-admin-server
Public bug reported: In Ubuntu 18.04, ipa-server-install does not correctly configures krb5 -admin-server. Therefore, the kadmin server does not start. The problem is that the krb5-admin-server service needs the file /etc/krb5kdc/kadm5.acl. This file may be empty, but it should exists, otherwise the server does not start. [Bug 1769823] Re: WiFi adapter not working after upgraded from 17.10 to 18.04
Anupam Datta, the next step is to fully commit bisect from kernel 4.4 to 4.15 in order to identify the last good kernel commit, followed immediately by the first bad one. This will allow for a more expedited analysis of the root cause of your issue. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions, or providing a commit from a kernel version bisect is not fully commit bisecting. Also, the kernel release names are irrelevant for the purposes of bisecting. It is most helpful that after the fix commit (not kernel version) has been identified, you then mark this report Status Confirmed. Thank you for your help. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-a29 kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug- exists-upstream-4.17-rc4 ** Description changed: I tried with a separate WiFi adaptor, it worked. but not with this: Bus 003 Device 004: ID 0846:9043 NetGear, Inc.
