[Bug 1770528] Re: Purging of old backup - Simple cut-off is not happening
Hi wattazoum, Thank you so much for looking into this issue and explaining how the Sbackup works. Well, I've slowly arrived to similar conclusion and yes, you're right about our configuration was kind of clashing. (Just inherited how it was setup and my aim is to improve it). With no description/documentation it was a bit challenge to guess what would be the real behaviour of the "Simple cut-off" option. Frustrated, I based my understanding on the explicit name of the option even though I understand it would leave us with those orphants. Also, I'd rather have it working in more smarter and safer way, which seems it doesexcept keeps disk full. You're right, my expectation would put the whole backup in the risk, OTOH I would know what to expect. I'll try to come up with some wordings for the documentation and tooltips, as the behaviour seems to be alright. So, hopefully everyone could configure Sbackup in the right way. Observation: Bad screen flicker with default Xorg driver. Details: I installed the 10.04 beta from CD on Wednesday (incidentially, compliments for the smooth install). Already upon installation, the display did flicker badly whenever the CD was read or even the mouse moved. Flicker did already start at the initial splash screen. The system was fully responsive otherwise. On reboot post-installation, gdm came up OK but with the same flicker problems. The 'Monitors' control panel only offered the 2048x1536 resolution at 80 Hz with no other options. Tried to install and use one of the non-free nvidia drivers, this failed because the nouveau kernel module was loaded always and could not be unloaded (drm loads nouveau before framebuffer console init. as near as I can make out). With nvidia-current unable to load, - the X server could not use the 'nvidia' driver. [Bug 1768139] Re: Kernel crash when booting laptop with hdmi monitor connected
Sandy Patterson, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel 4.15 to 4.17-rc7 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed immediately by the first good one. Once this good commit has been identified, it may be reviewed for backporting. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions, or providing a commit from a kernel version bisect is not fully commit bisecting. Also, the kernel release names are irrelevant for the purposes of bisecting. It is most helpful that after the fix commit (not kernel version) has been identified, you then mark this report Status Confirmed. [Bug 1718824] Re: The analogue audio does not work on the Dell USB Dock
@benste, The log in the #67 looks good, I can't find problem in it. After we confirmed this is a problem/regression, then reopen the status. But I don't think the change can make line-out stop working if it works before. If you want line-out or headphone of dock station to work, after plug it, please verify "pactl info" first, make sure the "Default Sink" is "alsa_output.usb-Generic_USB_Audio..." instead of "alsa_output.pci- _00_1f...", And if you want to change the default sink or the output profile (headphone or lineout0 of usb dock, you can open sound-settings to choose (system settings--->sound settings). If the description of above doesn't work, please upload an alsa-info.txt (run alsa-info.sh to generate alsa-info.txt). thx. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1718824 Title: The analogue audio does not work on the Dell USB Dock To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hwe-next/+bug/1718824/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1766137] Re: [regression] Password accepted but login fails (blank purple screen and mouse pointer only)
I have tested the login process as follows: a) Install gdm3 from bionic-proposed version 3.28.0-0ubuntu1.1 - in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and reboot. b) When login screen appears, click on my username and enter incorrect password. c) Enter correct password and press enter or click on sign in. Login successful. However I have encountered the following issue: a) Log out of Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. b) Click on my username and enter my password correctly to login again and click on sign in or press enter. The login prompt freezes, cannot click on cancel or the signin button. When I click on the button to perform a restart or shutdown, it indicates that I am still logged in therefore there appears to be an issue logging out. I also confirm that the issue as reported by Bodlinux in post #60 also occurs exactly as described. In this case clicking on the button to perform a restart or shutdown indicates that I am logged in but haven't moved past the login screen to the desktop so again an issue there. I have only installed the gdm3 update from bionic-proposed, do we need additional updates in order for the login system to be tested properly or will the gdm3 update suffice? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1766137 Title: [regression] Password accepted but login fails (blank purple screen and mouse pointer only) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gdm/+bug/1766137/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1772338] [NEW] Deprecation warning compiling against unity.vapi
Public bug reported: Vala 0.31.1 deprecated the "Deprecated" code attribute, replacing it with "Version". The copy of unity.vapi shipped by libunity-dev in bionic still uses the Deprecated attribute, however. I.e. in unity.vapi: [Deprecated (replacement = "AppInfoManager.get_default")] public static Unity.AppInfoManager get_instance (); Should instead be: [Version (deprecated = true, replacement = "AppInfoManager.get_default")] public static Unity.AppInfoManager get_instance (); This causes a deprecation warning when compiling against it, regardless of whether any deprecated calls are actually being made by the code being compiled. While a minor issue, it would be good to have fixed since it makes it impossible to develop against it with fatal warnings enabled, which is bad for QA. The Unity build seems to generate that file as per usual (as a valac build artefact) so I would assume this should be fixed by a simple rebuild using vala >= 0.31.1, but surely the version of libunity-dev that shipped with bionic would have been rebuild against valac that ships with bionic (0.40)? So I'm not sure why Deprecated is still present in the vapi. Re: [Bug 1754084] Re: Freecad crashes at start
hi Jens, hi all, thanks a lot for answering. In my case I had a fresh install of Xubuntu 18.04, so there was no old .config there. First I installes Xubuntu and after next step I downloaded freecad-0.17 and installed it via dpkg -i. But I got these known error as described. Now I have found another "script" like this here : LIBGL_DRI3_DISABLE=true ./FreeCAD-13522.glibc2.17-x86_64.AppImage and it does the trick. Now it runs. So far, I cannot find any problems due to the disabled LIBGL_DR3. Maybe in further using freecad some behavior may appear. [Bug 1772325] [NEW] Screen dims while a video is playing in VLC
Public bug reported: While playing a video with VLC when my laptop is using the battery, the screen will dim after a couple of minutes. I was expecting it not to dim while a video was playing. It should be noted that the screen does not go blank or lock, so that seems to be working correctly. I'm not sure if this is a bug with the power manager or another package.
