[Bug 1778632] [NEW] sddm hangs with mouse cursor on blank screen when pam_mount.conf.xml is malformed(?)

2018-06-25 Thread cleary
Public bug reported:

What you expected to happen:
sddm would display the theme, dialogs etc that would allow me to login

What actually happened:
sddm loads far enough to show the mouse cursor, but the background is still
black/blank/showing tty1 boot logs

It doesn't go any further, and I can't login with it.

A minimal series of steps necessary to make it happen:
1. install sddm
2. install libpam-mount
3. Add a minimal config to /etc/security/pam_mount.conf.xml, ala:
 https://paste.debian.net/1030743/
- note the "malformed" entry does not have an sgrp attribute defined (I'm
not convinced this actually constitutes a malformed entry)

4. run pam-auth-update and enable the entry "Mount volumes for user"
5. restart sddm

At this point sddm hangs with a blank screen, and mouse cursor. There
are no errors in logs, the only clue is that the PAM logging pauses

This doesn't affect any other DMs that I've tried (lightdm, gdm3)

[Bug 1768521] Re: ghost files remain after moving files

2018-06-25 Thread slumbergod
I decided to add the experimental PPA for Bionic 18.04 so I could see if
this bug (and several others) has finally been resolved with Thunar
1.8.1

Unfortunately, it has not.

Selecting two or more files and moving them to another directory usually
leaves a ghost file of one of them. A manual refresh is still required
to remove the ghost file.

[Bug 1739310] Re: Sound crackling in Ubuntu 16.04

2018-06-25 Thread Robin Preiss
I have the same issue on Xubuntu 18.04 and Debian Stretch. It occurs on
a fresh install while watching a video in Firefox. Restarting Pulseaudio
does fix the issue for me as well.

I observed that when the problem occurs, I can see multiple instances of
speech-dispatcher in Pavucontrol. Whenever I select a different output
device for all of them, the crackling disappears. If one of them has the
same output device selected as Firefox, the crackling comes back.

I could fix the issue by uncommenting the last line (DisableAutoSpawn)
in /etc/speech-dispatcher/speechd.conf.

I hope it might help.

My system:
Xubuntu 18.04
CPU: Intel i3-4160
Motherboard: Gigabyte H97-D3HM

[Bug 1777980] Re: crash of gedit while selecting all the text

2018-06-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your bug report is missing crash details. In
order to debug a crash we will need a crash report. To create one,
please follow these steps:

1. If you are not running a future development release of Ubuntu then apply the
workaround from bug 994921.
2. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport.
3. If the crash is in Xorg then uncomment this option from
/etc/gdm3/custom.conf:
   # Additionally lets the X server dump core if it crashes
   #Enable=true
4. Reboot.
5. Reproduce the crash.
6. Look in /var/crash for crash files and when found, run:
   ubuntu-bug /var/crash/YOURFILE.crash
7. Add a comment here telling us the ID of the new bug that was created in step
6.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments, and doing so is also a
security risk for yourself.

[Bug 1778140] Re: resize2fs hoses a filesystem on lvm after resizing

2018-06-25 Thread Theodore Ts'o
OK so it looks like you were trying to shrink a file system from 59G to
30G (using an off-line resize, since on-line resizing only supports
growing a file system).

Hmm are you willing to send me (probably off-line) a metadata-only
dump of the "before" file system? See the e2image page, and read the
section "QCOW2 IMAGE FILES". I can use the metadata-only file system
to reproduce the problem on my end, by running resize2fs on the raw
metadat-only file system.

What I mean is that Debian's packaging of PulseAudio 12.0-1 includes a

in order to sync with Debian better. See also bug 1574746.

only dependency not yet in main.

[Bug 1313539] Re: [DisplayPort] monitor shows black screen and "no input signal" after turning the monitor off and on manually

2018-06-25 Thread Dane Mutters
Issue persists in 18.04. All OS upgrades installed as of June 25, 2018.

Dell XPS 13" L321X Mini Displayport -> HDMI adapter -> HDMI cable -> LG
43lx570h television.

Interestingly, I was able to get this setup to work on a different model
of television, just a few days earlier. I don't currently have access
to that TV, but when I get back to where it is, I'll do another test.

The error report (comment #10) confirms this crash only occurs in Ubuntu
18.04. However it's also not that common (only 137 reports globally).
It's pretty unlucky if this is blocking you :(

__GI_clnttcp_create() from __GI___libc_rpc_getport() from __GI_pmap_getport()

[Bug 1778496] Re: resolution not incresing

2018-06-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

  gnome-shell crashes

  [ Test case ]

  1. No clear test case for this issue.

Some extensions (clipboard indicator) seems to trigger it, but there's
no an an easy and reproducible test-case for this so far.

So install "clipboard indicator" indicator and expect this to run

  [ Regression Potential ]

  Nothing really should be regressing.

Re: [Bug 1777975] Re: package mariadb-server-10.1 1:10.1.29-6 failed to install/upgrade: instalado mariadb-server-10.1 paquete post-installation guión el subproceso devolvió un error con estado de sal

2018-06-25 Thread Carlos De La Peña
Hello Faustin,

Thank you for taking the time to attend this.

At first, when I tried to install mariadb server with "sudo apt install
mariadb-server mariadb-client" command, I couldn't, due to the fact of the
error mentioned before.

After several unsuccessful attempts and continue insisting on the
installation, I decided to eliminate all traces of msyql or mariadb that
might exist in my system (note that this is a fresh ubuntu system
installation) with this series of commands:

sudo apt-get remove --purge mysql *
sudo apt-get remove --purge mysql
sudo apt-get remove --purge mariadb
sudo apt-get remove --purge mariadb *
sudo apt-get --purge remove mariadb-server

Note: When I was prompted despite the fact that the installation was
unsuccessful if I wanted to dump my current Databases, even I was sure that
none existed, I answered "no" to the prompt.

After doing all this I restarted the system.

In the end, I don't really know what I did to correct the problem, since
after all this I just retry the installation with "sudo apt install
mariadb-server" omitting the "mariadb-client" part and the command finished
the installation process properly, without showing any more errors.

It looks that now there are these mysqld profiles:

 c-u8700@CU8700-DSKH ~ $ find /etc/apparmor.d/ -type f -name
"usr.sbin.mysqld"
/etc/apparmor.d/cache/usr.sbin.mysqld
/etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld

... but I'm not sure if they existed before the installation was
successful.

I'm pastting the results of the command that you requested me, I hope this
is of some use now that mariadb server is installed and working on my
system.

apparmor module is loaded.

Hello HighPC.
Thanks for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with attachments in
Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2008 regarding Thunderbird and there have
been several versions of Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close
the ticket? Or, if it is still a problem, could you come to Launchpad
and make a comment to that effect?

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

Thanks for your continued support!

[Bug 1778282] Re: 'Precision Track Pad' not detected as input source

2018-06-25 Thread Morgan Gallant
apport information

** Description changed:

I own the Razer Blade 15 (2018) laptop with the Microsoft Precision
Track pad, and the 4.16 or the 4.17 kernel was not able to detect the
  track pad.

I do believe that this is affecting all Razer Blade 15 laptops, due to
  the nature of the issue.

I tried both the 4.16 and 4.17 kernel, both did not detect the track
pad. However, the 4.17 kernel didn't work with my WiFi card, so went
  back to 4.16.

  I have included my ~/dmesg, ~/devices, /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Just going
through it myself, it appears that 'Razer Razer Blade' is sometimes being
tagged as a mouse ([ 326.038] (II) event11 - Razer Razer Blade: is tagged by
udev as: Mouse). Weird.

[Bug 297256] Re: Detached attachments overwriting existing files with nothing

2018-06-25 Thread gf
Hello Regnuh.
Thanks for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.
