[Bug 1754294] Re: After last updated libcurl3 on libcurl4, some apps are removed.
Or can this be done. Change libcurl3 into a meta package that depends on libcurl3-4. Change libcurl4 into a meta package that depends on libcurl3-4. libcurl3-4 is unified package of 3 and 4 code. Note: Someone will have to work with upstream in order to bump libcurl to version5. So that libcurl3 code can be depricated. This version 5 code in reality is libcurl 4 code only. But the lib would be a new version. Again: Both lib3 and lib4 must be able to co-exist on a system. If they don't way to much stuff breaks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1754294 Title: After last updated libcurl3 on libcurl4, some apps are removed. [Bug 1781015] Re: Calamares fails in UEFI mode after external command in Lubuntu Cosmic
Hi again Simon, I zsynced to get the current daily iso file cosmic-desktop-amd64.iso dated July 12 2018, and tried again in my Toshiba booting in UEFI mode. This time the system selected Stockholm (no longer New York), and I continued with this default setting (Swedish time and language) and selected 'Erase disk' as before. apport information ** Attachment added: "PulseList.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1490821/+attachment/5163125/+files/PulseList.txt ** Description changed: Kubuntu install with XFCE desktop. Thunderbird 31.8.0. Since a few months I have an intermittent behavior where, for no apparent reason, when I start to compose a new email message, there is no cursor in the address field or message field (when I click there). Mouse works as normal and can select text. On top of this, and this is the suspected bug, the missing cursor often but not always means that any keyboard action (trying to write) works on the main Thunderbird window. Space, for instance, scrolls through the message in the message pane in the main Thunderbird window, even if the new being composed in another window is on top. The only way around this issue is to restart Thunderbird or to open a new email window. When I open another new message window, the cursor is back in the original email message window. I have noticed that it takes much longer time to load the email message window the first time I start Thunderbird, compared to email message 2,3 etc. Now, when I see the above issue opening a new email message also takes more time. I am guessing something crashes in the backend and that it is restarted when I open another new message window. [Bug 1490821] Re: No cursor/keyboard action in email being composed
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected xenial ** Description changed: Kubuntu install with XFCE desktop. [Bug 1781529] [NEW] [MIR] mecab
Public bug reported: Note: Both mecab and MySQL have a dependency on mecab-ipadic, so the request is for both mecab and mecab-ipadic [Availability] mecab and mecab-ipadic are in universe/misc (they are part of the same piece of software with upstream source https://github.com/taku910/mecab, but separate source packages) [Rationale] Mecab is used by MySQL for Japanese text parsing (https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/fulltext-search-mecab.html), and is a build-dependency for Upstream/Debian MySQL packages. Since it is currently in universe, we maintain a diff for Ubuntu that removes this dependency (also removing the plugin). Including mecab and mecab-ipadic in main would let us include the text parsing features and allow us to drop the diff between Debian and Ubuntu for MySQL. The package is a simple language parsing tool that has very few changes (but packaging is kept up to date by the mantainers). [Security] - Only found CVE was http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2007-3231 (affecting versions older than 0.96). This was patched in 0.95 package before version update. - No security relevant binaries [Quality assurance] - The packages are very simple, being just simple text parser util and csv files. - Only outstanding bug is https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mecab/+bug/1469406 - Package itself hasn't changed since 2013, but packaging is kept up-to-date by maintainers - Package is missing d/watch and|or d/README.source [Dependencies] mecab depends on mecab-ipadic. Other dependencies are in main [Standards compliance] No issues reported by lintian, and package is synced directly from Debian. [Maintenance] Both packages are maintained by Natural Language Processing (Japanese) Last few years have had little maintainer work except for keeping packaging up-to-date (new standards versions, vcs urls etc.). [Background information] - The mecab package provides Japanese text parsing (through library or stdin interface) - mecab-ipadic is an international phonetic alphabet (ipa) dictionary for mecab ** Affects: mecab (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: mecab-ipadic (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: mecab-ipadic (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Note: Both mecab and MySQL have a dependency on mecab-ipadic, so the request is for both mecab and mecab-ipadic [Availability] - mecab and mecab-ipadic are in universe/misc (they are part of the same piece of software with upstream source https://github.com/taku910/mecab, but separate source packages) + + mecab and mecab-ipadic are in universe/misc (they are part of the same + piece of software with upstream source https://github.com/taku910/mecab, + but separate source packages) [Rationale] + Mecab is used by MySQL for Japanese text parsing (https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/fulltext-search-mecab.html), and is a build-dependency for Upstream/Debian MySQL packages. Execute `prime-select query`. If the output is not `nvidia`, execute `prime-select nvidia` and restart it. Please execute `lshw -C display`. ■ *-display UNCLAIMED If is a device of `vendor: Intel Corporation` If `nomodeset` or `i915.modeset=0` is included in GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT or GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX in `/etc/default/grub`, delete it, run update-grub and restart it. ■ *-display UNCLAIMED If is a device of `vendor: NVIDIA Corporation` If `nomodeset` or `nvidia-drm.modeset=0` is included in GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT or GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX in `/etc/default/grub`, delete it, run update-grub and restart it. If `inxi` is not installed, please run `apt-get install -y inxi`. Please execute `inxi -G`. If `drivers: nvidia` is displayed, you need to add the following to `/etc/X11/xorg.conf`. ``` Section "Device" Identifier "intel" Driver "modesetting" Option "AccelMethod" "None" EndSection ``` If `drivers: modesetting, nvidia` is displayed, please delete or comment out `Monitor "Monitor 0"` from `Section "Screen"` including `Device "nvidia"`. ``` Section "Screen" Identifier "intel" Device "intel" Monitor "Monitor 0" EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "nvidia" Device "nvidia" # Monitor "Monitor 0" DefaultDepth 24 Option "AllowEmptyInitialConfiguration" "on" Option "IgnoreDisplayDevices" "CRT" Option "ConstrainCursor" "off" SubSection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "nvidia-auto-select" EndSubSection EndSection ``` Then restart it or execute `service gdm3 restart`. that's all. This problem is caused by the fact that nvidia-xconfig generated /etc/X11/xorg.conf does not include the loading of the modesetting driver, and the monitor output is connected to the nvidia device. (I am not familiar with X11 so I do not know if that is correct) Perhaps the smallest /etc/X11/xorg.conf that solves this problem is: (BusID varies depending on the environment) ``` Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "layout" Screen 0 "nvidia" Inactive "intel" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "intel" Driver "modesetting" BusID "PCI: 0 @ 0: 2: 0" Option "AccelMethod" "None" EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "intel" Device "intel" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "nvidia" Driver "nvidia" BusID "PCI: 1 @ 0: 0: 0" Option "ConstrainCursor" "off" EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "nvidia" Device "nvidia" Option "AllowEmptyInitialConfiguration" "on" Option "IgnoreDisplayDevices" "CRT" EndSection ``` The contents of my /etc/X11/xorg.conf are as follows. ``` # nvidia-xconfig: X configuration file generated by nvidia-xconfig # nvidia-xconfig: version 390.67 (buildmeister@swio-display-x64-rhel04-18) Fri Jun 1 04:26:22 PDT 2018 Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "layout" Screen 0 "nvidia" 0 0 Inactive "intel" InputDevice"Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard" InputDevice"Mouse0" "CorePointer" EndSection Section "InputDevice" # generated from default Identifier "Keyboard0" Driver "keyboard" EndSection Section "InputDevice" # generated from default Identifier "Mouse0" Driver "mouse" Option "Protocol" "auto" Option "Device" "/dev/psaux" Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "Monitor0" VendorName "Unknown" ModelName "Unknown" HorizSync 28.0 - 33.0 VertRefresh 43.0 - 72.0 Option "DPMS" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "intel" Driver "modesetting" Option "AccelMethod" "None" BusID "PCI:0@0:2:0" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "nvidia" Driver "nvidia" BusID "PCI:1@0:0:0" EndSection

[Bug 1781049] Re: WiFI hard blocked after resuming laptop (RTL 8723BE)
All the above are BEFORE I sent the system to sleep and resumed it. All the below comments are after I suspended (sleep) the system for a few minutes and then resumed it. ** Description changed: I installed a fresh copy of Ubuntu 18.04 and everything seems to work fine, till I suspended and resumed the laptop. After resume, the wifi is hard blocked is rfkill. Reinstalling drivers, different drivers, nothing helped. All this was done under Secure Boot disabled under Ubuntu and BIOS (UEFI). The WiFI card is Realtek 8723BE. laptop is HP AB035TX Pavilion 15. If any further info is required, I'll add it on notification. I am familiar with Linux, any help will be really appreciated. P.S: If this wifi card is the issue, please suggest some PCI-mini card that will work with my Ubuntu, even after suspend and resume (Ideally a 2.4/5G + BT 5.0) Thank you all! --- ProblemType: Bug ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.2 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: mythreya 1281 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC1: mythreya 1281 F pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: KDE DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 IfupdownConfig: # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8) auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-06-26 (16 days ago) InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 18.04 LTS "Bionic Beaver" - Release amd64 (20180426) IpRoute: default via 192.168.1.1 dev wlo1 proto dhcp metric 600 169.254.0.0/16 dev wlo1 scope link metric 1000 192.168.1.0/24 dev wlo1 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.1.6 metric 600 Lsusb: Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0bda:b006 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
