[Bug 1794229] Re: python packages should not ship colliding /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/.pytest_cache

2018-09-24 Thread Trent Lloyd
It appears these packages are in main but mainly pulled in (at least on
my system) by 'devscripts'. This affects cosmic.

[Bug 1794230] [NEW] failed to load kdump kernel

2018-09-24 Thread Denis Zimin

Steps:
1) In VMWare ESXi create VM with OS Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS.

[Bug 1794229] [NEW] python packages should not ship colliding /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/.pytest_cache

2018-09-24 Thread Trent Lloyd
Public bug reported:

Python packages should not ship /usr/lib/python3/dist-
packages/.pytest_cache

Recently, two packages python3-alembic and python3-astroid both shipped
these files which collided on package install

dh-python has been improved upstream to stream all hidden "dot"
directories in Debian #907871

This change should be imported and both alembic and astroid should be
rebuilt (plus any other packages shipping this file)

[Bug 411688] Re: pulseaudio floods network with multicast packets

2018-09-24 Thread Tecfu
This ticket was opened 9 years ago. Bug still exists in Ubuntu 16.04.05.

/etc/pulse/default.pa
```
load-module module-null-sink sink_name=rtp
load-module module-rtp-send source=rtp.monitor
set-default-sink rtp
```

This feature still floods the network with packets. Disabling it isn't a
fix, its merely opting out of a broken feature.

[Bug 1794059] Re: Slow IO on intel arches in builders, causes FTBFS

2018-09-24 Thread  Christian Ehrhardt 
I didn't want to retrigger your upload since I don't own it.

But I spun up three PPAs to check if this build time test is flaky.
The following three just started building:
- https://launchpad.net/~ci-train-ppa-service/+archive/ubuntu/3432/+packages
- https://launchpad.net/~ci-train-ppa-service/+archive/ubuntu/3433/+packages

Result:
- 1 build
  - no errors at all
- 1 build
  - amd64 error (1) of above
  - i386 error (1) of above
- 1 build
  - i386 error (1) of above

So as you already found it really is a flaky test at build time.

I see for this time you already pushed "retry to win"

[Bug 1786250] Re: strongswan (charon) is rejected by apparmor to read /proc//fd

2018-09-24 Thread  Christian Ehrhardt 
@Fermulator - I polished, your upload and will prepare it.
Without a real hard issue other than the error dmesg I'd not try to SRu to
former releases.
Debian should be affected just as much, would you mind reporting a bug there as
well so that they acn also pick the change at some point?

If you do so please report back the bug or PR link here so we can track,
if you are unable to do so let me know and I can do that on the next
merge (but original reporter is preferred in case there are questions
about the case).

Note there also seems to be a build/test issue (bug 1794224) due to the
new toolchain that needs to be fixed along that.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend
performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections and using software tools
to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not
in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to
New. Thanks and good luck!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you

[Bug 1794209] [NEW] package python3-pil:amd64 5.1.0-1 failed to install/upgrade: installed python3-pil:amd64 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1

2018-09-24 Thread Jennifer Farmer
Public bug reported:

Upgrading from 16.04 to 18.04

The message "could not install...-pil" appeared halfway through (see
attached screenshot.

When the upgrade was almost complete I received another message "could
not install upgrades, the upgrade has aborted. Your system could be in
an unstable state. A recovery will run now (dpkg-configure-a)." (your
program would not let me upload more than one screenshot)

When the upgrade was complete a third message "upgrade complete. The
upgrade has completed but there were errors during the upgrade process"
(see attached screenshot)

The reason I upgraded was because the last update kernel I downloaded
4.4.0-135 would not let me reboot properly.

Please tell me how to fix this. Thanks.

[Bug 1794208] [NEW] Encrypted partition password field should have placeholder text and error indication

2018-09-24 Thread Doug Beney
Public bug reported:

Love the installer, but one thing stood out to me.

The encrypted partition password fields do not have any placeholder text
that say something like "Enter your encrypted volume's password" -
"Confirm your password"

I went by it pretty fast but I'm pretty sure there isn't error
indication. Could be a good idea to put a red border around the password
fields if the passwords do not match.

I can also mention that changing my theme from Ambiance to Adwaita

Hello I have the same issue. I tried for a couple days to fix it without
any results. I have the latest drivers installed
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS). I then tried to set
all configurations to default and ran alsa-info. The ouput is located at
the following url and in the attached text document. I hope this is
helpful.

[Bug 1767650] Re: Screen rotates upside-down when laptop is not flat

2018-09-24 Thread Scott Cantrell
Everything I have read points to the "3D Driveguard". I appreciate the feature
and would not so much mind the screen auto-reorientation both
 a) the screen orientation would auto reset even when the screen is locked
 b) screen auto-reorientation could be controlled or disabled in the system
display settings (not just for the user)

[Bug 1793394] Re: hns3: enable ethtool rx-vlan-filter on supported hw

2018-09-24 Thread dann frazier
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
Newer revisions of hns3 support toggling the rx-vlan-filter feature, but the
driver does not allow it.

  [Test Case]
  Currently the command:
- $ sudo strace ethtool -K rx-vlan-filter off
+   $ sudo ethtool -K rx-vlan-filter off
  reports:
- Could not change any device features
+   Could not change any device features
Even on hardware that supports this feature.

  [Fix]
  Apply this upstream commit:
3e85af6a6812d net: hns3: Add vlan filter setting by ethtool command -K

  [Regression Risk]
I've regression tested on hns3 hardware that does not support this feature,
and it worked as it should.

[Bug 1784774] Re: snapd is not autofs aware and fails with nfs home dir

2018-09-24 Thread Santiago Castro
I created a patch to workaround this problem:
https://github.com/bryant1410/snapd/commit/a9831da29aba7a4905647ff582061ac399a3b240
It's basically hardcoding a value. I'm not sure what the correct
behavior should be for all the cases that /home is autofs, or if it
should check that /home/user is NFS instead.

So, as a workaround, you can clone the repo, checkout that commit, build
from source as stated in the repo, place the snapd executable in
/usr/local/bin and edit the systemctl service file
(/lib/systemd/system/snapd.service) to point to that executable instead.
