[Bug 1797032] Re: xubuntu 18.10 daily x86 - suspend, on wake i have no mouse-pointer (nvidia/nouveau)

2018-10-09 Thread Chris Guiver
I've re-ran this test on another system (different video card) & no issue.
re-tested (daily-iso) trying to cause bug on same machine -- yes re-created
briefly, but within 30 seconds mouse-pointer appeared (before I worked out
where mouse-pointer was)

copying (slightly edited) from QA-report
http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/390/builds/182196/testcases/1303/results/

2018-10-10 02:39

hp dx6120mt (mini-tower, pentium 4 dual core, 3gb, nvidia 7600gt)
re-run of test but focusing only on suspending & mouse-pointer post-wake...
using `sudo systemctl suspend`, waiting briefly & then wake - mouse-pointer was
okay
repeated twice more `sudo systemctl suspend`, wait & wake - mouse pointer okay.
put to sleep with menu (like prior test; mouse over terminal), waited then
awoke - mouse pointer okay.
put to sleep with menu (again, mouse over nothing but wallpaper), waited then
awoke - NO MOUSE POINTER
-- yet this time it came good on its on, before I worked out where pointer was
& before I could get to menu...
yes I could re-create bug briefly; but then okay..

[Bug 1797040] [NEW] QtWebkit - missing doxygen tags file

2018-10-09 Thread Anton Anikin
Public bug reported:

Current version of qtwebkit5-doc-html package doesn't contains
qtwebkit.tags file which leads to incomplete doxygen documentation
generation for external projects (kdewebkit for example).

This can fixed with small patch (see attachment). I test it on my 18.04
system - all works as expected.

[Bug 1770082] Re: systemd-networkd not renaming devices on boot

2018-10-09 Thread Daniel Axtens
Hi,

This works on reboot but not so well after the system boots.

Say I have the following file:

network:
version: 2
ethernets:
ens7:
dhcp4: true
match:
macaddress: 52:54:00:b4:02:6e
set-name: myif1
optional: true

If I reboot, everything is fine:

ubuntu@netplan2:~$ ip l
1: lo: mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN mode
DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
2: ens3: mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP
mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
link/ether 52:54:00:d2:9b:b5 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
3: myif1: mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP
mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
link/ether 52:54:00:b4:02:6e brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

But if I now change set-name to myif0, I can't get it to change the name 'live'.

If I apply with the interface 'up', nothing happens, which is fine:

ubuntu@netplan2:~$ sudo netplan apply
ubuntu@netplan2:~$ ip l
1: lo: mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN mode
DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
2: ens3: mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP
mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
link/ether 52:54:00:d2:9b:b5 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
3: myif1: mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP
mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
link/ether 52:54:00:b4:02:6e brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

But if I bring it down and run netplan apply, the interface is renamed
to ens7, not myif0, and it stays down.

ubuntu@netplan2:~$ sudo ip l set dev myif1 down
ubuntu@netplan2:~$ sudo netplan apply
ubuntu@netplan2:~$ ip l
1: lo: mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN mode
DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
2: ens3: mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP
mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
link/ether 52:54:00:d2:9b:b5 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
3: ens7: mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state DOWN mode DEFAULT
group default qlen 1000
link/ether 52:54:00:b4:02:6e brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

If I downgrade to 0.36.3, the interface is correctly renamed and brought
up:

9: myif0: mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP
mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
link/ether 52:54:00:b4:02:6e brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

So not an unqualified success here.

Regards,
Daniel

[Bug 1796915] Re: Volume notification popup resizes the full screen application

2018-10-09 Thread Vitaly
** Description changed:

When I playing a game (Steam, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive), and
touch multimedia volume controls on keyboard (mute, volume up, volume
down), notification popups appears, but when popups is being showed, the
game's full screen makes a bit smaller at the same time showing Ubuntu's
panel and dock (showing their spaces, but not drawing them, just void
spaces), when notification volume popup hides back, full screen
restores. The problem shown only when volume notification popup is
  showing.

Steam game called Broforce (full screen)(this game has Unity3d engine),
when I change volume, frequently it hangs the game (just before showing
notification popup), and whole computer (music still plays), having to
- restart the PC, because I doesn't respond to Alt+f4, and sometimes
+ restart the PC, because it doesn't respond to Alt+f4, and sometimes
doesn't respond to Alt+Tab. I had hangs problems with that game in
KDE5/Plasma, but I never had problems in Xfce4.

[Bug 1796836] Re: gnome-calendar crashed with SIGSEGV in gcal_manager_is_client_writable()

2018-10-09 Thread Raymond Bakker
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1761466 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1761466

There is no bug 1761466, apparently. Some further testing on Ubuntu
18.10 (dev branch) + GNOME 3.30 later:

The situation somewhat normalized after removing several applications like
GNOME Documents, Weather, To-Do and some others.
The tasks in Evolution (and/or GNOME Calendar and the calendar in the
notification area) still disappear, but reappear when entering a new task in
Evolution. Everything seems back to normal from there, until the issue reoccurs
after closing and restarting evolution. Entering a new task makes the other
tasks visible again.

[Bug 1797032] [NEW] xubuntu 18.10 daily x86 - suspend, on wake i have no mouse-pointer (nvidia/nouveau)

2018-10-09 Thread Chris Guiver
Public bug reported:

hp dx6120mt (desktop, pentium 4 dual-core, 3gb ram, nvidia 7600gt)
xubuntu 18.10 daily ISO x86

QA test - 2018-10-10 00:26 (current timestamp on QA tracker) of daily
ISO

on suspend everything is normal, on wake I've lost my mouse-pointer.

I can see icons (drives, panel widgets) react & thus can detect where
cursor is if over something, but no mouse-pointer is visible at all.

To get mouse back, I select menu (top left), then move mouse over menu
and pointer re-appears.

Selecting anything else does not bring mouse back, also selecting menu
but moving mouse up (not on menu but off screen) allows me to de-select
menu without pointer being re-drawn. It returns only if I move mouse
over the [main] menu when selected.

I've suspended 4 times this 'live-test', same loss-of-pointer each time,
each time restored via selection of menu top left (third time I didn't
have it return as I coughed causing mouse to never thus cross menu &
select something right causing menu to close without return of mouse-
pointer; got same reaction on 4th sleep/wake)..

[Bug 1797031] [NEW] Touchscreen/stylus always reports 1% battery [patch]

2018-10-09 Thread Trent Gamblin
Public bug reported:

I have a Dell 5379 with a touchscreen that always reports 1% battery
with the stylus. This pops up a low battery notification the first time
I use the stylus after booting. The attached patch tells the kernel to
ignore the battery on this particular device, since it appears to not
report information correctly anyway.

I'm experiencing the crashes since upgrade to 5.0.1-1. Work around has

there.

[Bug 1796544] Re: [regression] Cosmic ISO contains no working wifi driver for Macbook Air

2018-10-09 Thread Daniel van Vugt
In the cosmic live session:

$ ubuntu-drivers list
bcmwl-kernel-source

And yes you're right - the driver is in the ISO, but under
/cdrom/pool...

For some reason I thought any restricted drivers available in the ISO
would be active before the installer started. So choosing "Restricted
Add-ons" while I had no wifi would be pointless. But it's not. I think
this behaviour has changed compared to older releases.

So this bug is invalid in the original form. I will reword it into
something that's a real bug. Thanks :)

** Summary changed:

- [regression] Cosmic ISO contains no working wifi driver for Macbook Air
+ Macbook Air wifi driver (bcmwl-kernel-source) is not active in a live session
till you run the installer

** Description changed:

- Cosmic ISO (20181004) contains no working wifi driver for Macbook Air.
-
- In previous releases it contained package bcmwl-kernel-source for the
- 'wl' kernel module but not any more. Is that intentional?

[Bug 1796544] Re: [regression] Cosmic ISO contains no working wifi driver for Macbook Air

2018-10-09 Thread Daniel van Vugt
"Restricted Add-ons" can't install because there is no internet access
to get them. There is no internet access because of this bug. :)

In previous Ubuntu releases I think we included critical drivers like
bcmwl-kernel-source on the ISO...?

[Bug 1796056] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in __strstr_sse2_unaligned() from glamor_egl_init() from try_enable_glamor()

2018-10-09 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Note that Xorg catches its own crashes. So the real crash (signo=11)
starts at frame #7:

#5 0x55ba13137131 in OsSigHandler (signo=11, sip=,
unused=) at ../../../../os/osinit.c:156
unused =
sip =

** Summary changed:

- Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in glamor_egl_init()
+ Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in __strstr_sse2_unaligned() from glamor_egl_init()
from try_enable_glamor()
