[Bug 1801716] Re: Xorg freeze (black screen after ubuntu logo during boot)
I am so so so sorry for I made a mistake of selecting the wrong kernel with the wrong architecture to install, which lead to all those error messages during boot in v4.19. (My laptop should install the kernel with architecture amd64 but I installed i386, I am so sorry for making things more complicated, SORRY!!!) Anyway, I "apt purge" the wrong kernel (4.19 with architecture i386) and just installed the proper one(architecture amd64). However! The issue in the v4.17 remain in the 4.19! I don't see anything improve in my situation, I still can't get in the system, getting stuck in the black screen after the Ubuntu logo during the boot, I can only access the system in recovery mode; the brightness of my display can't be adjusted; the setting for my display still says "Unknown Display", and the laptop can't get back if I put the whole system into sleep mode(by turn off the display) Any idea? [Bug 1802036] [NEW] postinst's parsing of mailman3-web.py is brittle
Public bug reported: The postinst script parses mailman3-web.py with sed, and relies on the "ADMIN" value looking like this: ADMINS = ( ('Mailman Suite Admin', 'r...@lists.admin.staging.canonical.com'), ) i.e. a) "Mailman Suite Admin" must be present and b) the closing paren must be left-aligned. The mailman3-web charm writes the file in the following perfectly valid Python: ADMINS = ( ('Mailman Web Admin', 'r...@lists.staging.canonical.com'), ) but which violates a) (wrong text) and b) (closing paren is indented). We can fix this particular point in the charm but ideally the package would be able to cope with any valid Python syntax. ** Affects: mailman-suite (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1802036 Title: postinst's parsing of mailman3-web.py is brittle To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mailman-suite/+bug/1802036/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1767556] Re: Screen goes blank after booting
I'm having the same problem too after just upgrading to 18.04 on my R554LA hardware. I've found that sometimes I actually see the login screen, but then it immediately goes blank - as if the screen was turned off using the blank display keys (Fn+F7). Once this happens, if I plug in an HDMI cable connected to my TV, the screen turns on again, and will remain on once I unplug the HDMI cable. This will survive a sleep/wakeup event but not a reboot. In my Xorg.0.log file, I see HDMI getting enabled (not sure if this is a cause, an effect, or not relevant): == [ 2.798] (II) FBDEV: driver for framebuffer: fbdev [ 2.798] (II) VESA: driver for VESA chipsets: vesa [ 2.799] (II) intel(0): Using Kernel Mode Setting driver: i915, version 1.6.0 20151010 [ 2.799] (II) intel(0): SNA compiled: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.917+git20160325-1ubuntu1.2 (Timo Aaltonen ) [ 2.799] (II) intel(0): SNA compiled for use with valgrind [ 2.800] (WW) Falling back to old probe method for modesetting [ 2.801] (WW) Falling back to old probe method for fbdev [ 2.801] (II) Loading sub module "fbdevhw" [ 2.801] (II) LoadModule: "fbdevhw" [ 2.801] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libfbdevhw.so [ 2.802] (II) Module fbdevhw: vendor="X.Org Foundation" [ 2.802]compiled for 1.18.4, module version = 0.0.2 [ 2.802]ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 20.0 [ 2.802] (WW) Falling back to old probe method for vesa [ 2.803] (--) intel(0): Integrated Graphics Chipset: Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500 [ 2.803] (--) intel(0): CPU: x86-64, sse2, sse3, ssse3, sse4.1, sse4.2, avx, avx2; using a maximum of 2 threads [ 2.803] (II) intel(0): Creating default Display subsection in Screen section "Default Screen Section" for depth/fbbpp 24/32 [ 2.803] (==) intel(0): Depth 24, (--) framebuffer bpp 32 [ 2.803] (==) intel(0): RGB weight 888 [ 2.803] (==) intel(0): Default visual is TrueColor [ 2.804] (II) intel(0): Output eDP1 has no monitor section [ 2.820] (--) intel(0): Found backlight control interface intel_backlight (type 'raw') for output eDP1 [ 2.820] (II) intel(0): Enabled output eDP1 [ 2.820] (II) intel(0): Output HDMI1 has no monitor section [ 2.820] (II) intel(0): Enabled output HDMI1 [ 2.820] (--) intel(0): Using a maximum size of 256x256 for hardware cursors [ 2.820] (II) intel(0): Output VIRTUAL1 has no monitor section [ 2.820] (II) intel(0): Enabled output VIRTUAL1 [ 2.820] (--) intel(0): Output eDP1 using initial mode 1366x768 on pipe 0 [ 2.820] (==) intel(0): TearFree disabled [ 2.820] (==) intel(0): DPI set to (96, 96) === -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1767556 Title: Screen goes blank after booting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1767556/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1802013] Re: dulwich fails it's tests on s390x
This bug was fixed in the package dulwich - 0.19.6-2ubuntu1 --- dulwich (0.19.6-2ubuntu1) disco; urgency=medium * Skip the porcelain test for a first build without Python 3.6 support. The test fails on Python 2.7. Just a crude work-around not a fix. I gave the way to check the latter above, but for the former, look at the head of /etc/apt/sources.list. [Bug 1800752] Re: [regression] Wrong EU count for i5-5250U, reducing OpenCL performance
OK. So I have to run as root *while logged in to desktop of the system*. Just being logged in as root (on a system where I "never" user the console...) over the network isn't good enough. Now done. It claims to have submitted data. [Bug 1800752] Re: [regression] Wrong EU count for i5-5250U, reducing OpenCL performance
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: I run a BOINC project which uses opencl_intel on my Kubunut system On bioinc the tasks ran in 12,000 +/- 200 seconds. They've been doing that for ~6 months. I've now updated the system to cosmic, and the task are not taking 19,000 +/- 200s. I have another system (which is still running Mint18.3 - and hasn't changed) which also runs these tasks and the timings there have not changed, so the tasks themselves are still equivalent.
