[Bug 1598183] Re: Operation not permitted while writing to symlinked fuse locations

2018-11-07 Thread Dariusz Gadomski
There is an upstream patch under consideration to be merged into master.
Despite not being the perfect solution for the problem it fixes the
issue.

Let's wait for it to be merged.

[Bug 1802248] [NEW] Disable LPM for Raydium Touchscreens

2018-11-07 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
Raydium touchscreens don't work on LPM capable platforms.

[Test]
Raydium touchscreens start to work with the patch.

[Fix]
Disable LPM for Raydium touchscreens.

[Regression Potential]
Low. Limits to specific Raydium touchscreens. Also, USB runtime PM
(SeletiveSuspend) still works, so disabling LPM doesn't really increase
power consumption.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1782984] Re: PCManFM crashes frequently on Lubuntu 18.04

2018-11-07 Thread Patrick Schmitt
Just wanted to opt in as I'm also affected. I'm running Lubuntu 18.04.1
on a Lenovo Thinkpad X250 in a 2 monitor setup.

I tried, like Janus mentioned, to install pcmanfm 1.3.0 from the deb file
provided.
My LibFM version is unchanged at 1.2.5.

Sadly I have to report that just updating pcmanfm does not solve my
crashing problem. (but it seems like it does not happen as often as with
version 1.2.5, but this is not confirmed)

The crash itself happens very randomly. Sometimes if I try to open a folder or
a document, and sometimes just by selecting files. It seems to never crash if I
just leave a pcmanfm window open.
If it crashes it will just freeze or "close" instantly. Sometimes I see a
"Sorry Ubuntu has experienced an internal error " message.
If I than try to see the details of the error message -> the message closes
instantly so the message window itself crashes also.

Today I will try to use the Nautilus file manager. Version 3.26.4 from
the official repository.

I will reply after I can confirm if Nautilus crashes too or not.

Any help is very much appreciated as my system is currently used for
work. Crashes during file operation is very dangerous. Considering
switching to another flavor of Ubuntu.

Best regards,
Patrick

[Bug 1168115] Re: Ubiquity does not support LUKS in manual partitioning mode

2018-11-07 Thread nicholas
I don't know what version of Ubuntu I was installing when I first
attempted manual partitioning with LUKS (manually configured), but I
know I've run into this issue with at least 14.04 and 18.04. At the time
that I first had an issue with it, I poked around until I found out what
the problem was and fixed it manually during installation time. Since
then, I recently put together (a script)[https://github.com/nbros652
/LUKS-guided-manual-partitioning] that enables semi-manual partitioning
with LUKS. The goal of my script is not to cover all use cases, but to
make it possible to do manual paritioning with LVM and LUKS. If you know
how to set up logical volumes, it's not difficult to add more partitions
manually. What my script does is configure the boot, EFI (if necessary),
LUKS and LVM (swap and home) partitions with a few prompts for
information from the user. Then it waits for the user to perform
installation on the configured partitions. Once installation is
completely my script finishes everything off by remounting the system,
generating the /etc/crypttab file, chrooting into the installed system
and updating the initramfs.

[Bug 1802237] [NEW] grub does not boot at various circumstances

2018-11-07 Thread Thomas Schweikle
Public bug reported:

grub does not boot at various conditions. It works if the laptop is
undocked, no external monitor is connected and if no external Keyboard
is connected. In all other cases grub hangs initializing devices:

- Laptop undocked, but external monitor connected: grub hangs while
initializing graphics. It never gets out of looping over the external monitor
device. Both(!) screens stay blank. The internal screen has its backlight
turned on, but is not selected as drawing device. Grub never displayes anything
on any screen.
Taping on/off immediately turns computer off again.

- Laptop docked, no external monitor connected: grub hangs while initializing
additional io devices. It never gets to initializing graphics. The interal
screen stays blank, backlight is turned off.
Taping on/off immediately turns computer off again.

- Laptop docked, external monitor connected: grub hangs while initializing
additional io devices. It initializes external monitor and graphixs. External
monitors backlight is turned on, but grub hangs while initializing internal
graphics.
Taping on/off immediately turns computer off again.

- Laptop undocked, external Kexboard connected: grub hangs while initializing
external keyboard.
Taping on/off immediately turns computer off again. Grub menu is shown, but you
no keybress recognized.

- Laptop docked, external Keyboard connected: grub hangs while initializing
external keyboard.
Taping on/off does not turn computer immediately off again. You'll have to
press the key for at least three seconds. Keyboard does not function. No
keypress recognized. Grub shows grub menu, but hangs loading os.

Same cases for a non laptop computer equiped with laptop equipment and
mainboard. Grub never shows grub menu on this computer, hanging while
initializing graphics.

[Bug 1802238] [NEW] grub initializes keyboards without nmmeric block with numlock enabled

2018-11-07 Thread Thomas Schweikle
Public bug reported:

grub initializes keyboards without numeric block with numlock enabled,
but without notifying the user (numlock-led disabled). This may lead to
not being able to enter passwords.

vice versa does grub initialize keyboards with numeric block with
numlock disabled.

In both cases it might be difficult to switch numlock off/on especially
on laptop keyboards.

Switching numlock on/off does not turn on numlock-led -- this stays off!

[Bug 1802160] Re: liblivemedia62 and liblivemedia64 probably have CVE-2018-4013 security problem

2018-11-07 Thread Alex Murray
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Since the package referred to in this bug is in universe or
multiverse, it is community maintained. If you are able, I suggest
coordinating with upstream and posting a debdiff for this issue. When a
debdiff is available, members of the security team will review it and
publish the package. See the following link for more information:

[Bug 1776616] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 getting stuck at "Starting Reboot" and "Starting Power-Off"

2018-11-07 Thread Hey!
Hi.

Thanks for trying to help, but unfortunately I can't test that at this
time since I'm not that experienced and i can't take the risk of ruining
this installation. Sorry.

On my computer the transition from 4.5.7 to 4.6.0 is the cause of this
bug.

4.5.7 - Works

4.6.0 - Doesn't work

Can anyone try to install the following kernels to check if the same
behavior happens on other computers?

[Bug 1783298] Re: AuthInfoRequired negotiate in cups 2.2.7 in Bionic does not work

2018-11-07 Thread josephpei
I found the solution:

https://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/ubuntu-beaver-samba-shares.html

Quote: The reason is, they changed the default protocol version and
whatnot, and actually, who cares. People just want to be able to share
things with their Windows boxes easily!

Edit

/etc/samba/smb.conf

Add a line

client max protocol = NT1

Restart smb

sudo systemctl restart smbd.service

Now we can see the windows neighbours and the share printers.
