[Bug 1813877] [NEW] Can't adjust brightness on DELL UHD dGPU AIO
Public bug reported: [Impact] The dell-uart-backlight driver has been loaded, but the backlight is controller by graphics driver instead of scalar IC. The old way to determinate weather the driver should be loaded is not working anymore, since the behavior of scalar command, show firmware version, is not the same as old platforms. [Fix] Using more a reliable command, get_scalar_status, to check if scalar is in charge of the AIO backlight. [Test] Verified on new Dell AIO platforms. [Regression Potential] Expected. The get_scalar_status command is not supported by the first generation AIO platforms, so the driver may not be loaded on old AIO machines due to get_scalar_status command returns 0. To ease the pain, the "force" parameter has been introduced to make the driver can be loaded regardless of the return value of get_scalar_status command. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: AceLan Kao (acelankao) Status: In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1813877 Title: Can't adjust brightness on DELL UHD dGPU AIO To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1813877/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1813873] [NEW] Userspace break as a result of missing patch backport
Public bug reported: Hi, The most recent set of Ubuntu kernels applied a variety of tty patches including: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/c96cf923a98d1b094df9f0cf97a83e118817e31b But have not applied the more recent https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/d3736d82e8169768218ee0ef68718875918091a0 patch. This second patch is required to prevent a rather serious regression where userspace applications reading from stdin can receive EAGAIN when they should not. I will try to link correspondence from the mailing list archives once they are available, but for now if you have access to the linux-console mailing list you can find discussion under the thread "Userspace break? read from STDIN returns EAGAIN if tty is "touched"". I would appreciate it if this could be examined soon as it is a regression on userspace. [Bug 1246347] Re: Lots of "error on subcontainer 'ia_addr' insert (-1)" reports in /var/log/syslog
I'm still seeing this issue in Cosmic 18.10. It seems that, by default, snmpd is set to log at the DEBUG level which seems too intensive. To fix I had to run the following (where "LS4d" indicates LOG_WARNING) as per the snmpd man page info below. With the log level set at LOG_WARNING this also has the added bonus that the many "Connection from UDP: [IP]:PORT->[IP]:PORT" snmpd INFO messages are also not output to /var/log/syslog... $ sudo sed -i "s|-Lsd|-LS4d|" /lib/systemd/system/snmpd.service $ sudo systemctl daemon-reload $ sudo systemctl restart snmpd.service snmpd man page (https://linux.die.net/man/1/snmpcmd): 0 or ! for LOG_EMERG, 1 or a for LOG_ALERT, 2 or c for LOG_CRIT, 3 or e for LOG_ERR, 4 or w for LOG_WARNING, 5 or n for LOG_NOTICE, 6 or i for LOG_INFO, and 7 or d for LOG_DEBUG. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1246347 Title: Lots of "error on subcontainer 'ia_addr' insert (-1)" reports in /var/log/syslog To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/netsnmp/+bug/1246347/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1813843] Re: Xorg crash
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => xorg-server (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1813843 Title: Xorg crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1813843/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1813820] Re: Waking from Suspend causes screen to appear with grey static (like a TV with no signal)
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: I am running Kubuntu 18.10. This is the PH517-61 Acer Predator Helios 500 with the Ryzen processor. My first issue I need to deal with is Suspend. I have temporarily disabled suspend in the kcmshell5 configuration. If I do let the laptop suspend and then hit the keyboard I get what appears to be a 1950s TV with no signal. At this point I manually power down and then power up again and am able to view things on screen.
