Re: [Bug 1822446] Re: [B450M DS3H, Realtek ALC887-VD] Sound is occasionally distorted

2019-03-31 Thread Mike
Thank you. I don't know if you know anything about guitar but it sounds
like a distortion pedal was activated. Overdriven sound. The volume was low
and I was watching a YouTube video in firefox. It started the distorted
sound in the middle of the video. I paused it then left. Came back about a
half hour later hit play and it played fine. It has done this only twice.
Again, thanks for the help and thanks for Ubuntu.

[Bug 1822363] Re: Booting hangs when USB 3.0 Etron EJ168 PCI card is detected

2019-03-31 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Would it be possible for you to do a kernel bisection?

First, find the last good -rc kernel and the first bad -rc kernel
between v3.0 and v3.2, from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/

Then,
$ sudo apt build-dep linux
$ git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git
$ cd linux
$ git bisect start
$ git bisect good $(the good version you found)
$ git bisect bad $(the bad version found)
$ make localmodconfig
$ make -j`nproc` deb-pkg
Install the newly built kernel, then reboot with it.
If the issue still happens,
$ git bisect bad
Otherwise,
$ git bisect good
Repeat to "make -j`nproc` deb-pkg" until you find the commit that causes the
regression.

[Bug 1818881] Re: ath10k_pci crashing

2019-03-31 Thread Alex Tu
this morning, I also tried older released 18.04.2 image[1], which have
the same older kernel 4.18.0-15-generic as this ticket description.

But, still not find ath10k error message after playing youtube for 2 hours.
I'll keep using that machine to see if I can reproduce this issue.

@Stephan,
Could you please try upgrade system to see if this issue can be fixed?

[Bug 1822446] Re: [B450M DS3H, Realtek ALC887-VD] Sound is occasionally distorted

2019-03-31 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I have experienced distortion with many brand new cables in the past.
And sometimes it only happens when they are twisted (e.g. a mismatched
connection between 3/4 pin jacks).

Please try some other cables, other headphones, and other jacks if you
have any more.

[Bug 1822523] Re: Resume from suspend hang when using NVIDIA GP107GLM [Quadro P1000 Moblie][10de:1cbb] on Disco 19.04 beta

2019-03-31 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1822523/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

So the swapfile needs to be NOCOW before allocation [1]:
# truncate -s 0 /swapfile

We should make the installer use these steps instead.

2019-03-31 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Actually, a big problem I can see is that your journal.txt (system log)
is full of:

Mar 30 14:28:00 taplop gnome-shell[5876]: Failed to flip onscreen: Tried to
flip inactive CRTC
Mar 30 14:28:01 taplop gnome-shell[5876]: Failed to flip onscreen: Tried to

Mar 30 14:28:01 taplop gnome-shell[5876]: Failed to flip onscreen: Tried to

That's a Wayland-specific issue so please do try logging into Xorg (just
"Ubuntu").

[Bug 1822335] Re: test general

2019-03-31 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!
