Can you also attach full dmesg of the boot so that we can see the
initial PCI configuration? Now all the dmesgs are missing that
information.

When it initially works, do you boot with the dock connected or not?

** Description changed:

  Hi,

I am running an Ubuntu 16.04 machine. I tried to start the system
  bluetooth through the following steps:

  1. Ensured that bluetooth was unblocked through the command rfkill
  2. Set bluetooth to powered on, agent on, default-agent and scan on through
bluetootctl

On completing these steps, Bluetooth icon shows up as active on the
system, but other devices are unable to scan it and consequently not
able to connect to it. This Ubuntu does not appear in the list of
bluetooth devices for other devices' scan.

  3. I ran systemctl status bluetooth

I am getting the following errors:

[Bug 1825587] Re: non-existent temporary desktop file appears on desktop

2019-04-22 Thread Walter Lapchynski
@Fritz the key to understanding what that means is that it's changed in
*lxqt* rather than in *libfm-qt*. The LXQt project is a catch-all that
allows us to link bugs on Launchpad (our bug tracker) with those
upstream in LXQt (in GitHub, to be exact). It will auto update when
changes have been made. libfm-qt, you'll see refers to the Ubuntu
package, or the Ubuntu version of libfm-qt. That version does not
include this fix.

Instead, upstream have provided a fix, though technically not one that
has been released in a new version of libfm-qt (it's a little confusing
that it says "fix released" as it should be "fix committed" instead).
Generally, we provide new packages as new releases become available.
There's generally not a lot of good justification to managing individual
patches during a development period. But that depends on how upstream's
release schedule coincides with ours. In any case, it will be in Eoan
one way or another.

We could work on ensuring it's in Disco, as we should be able to pull in
just the patch that fixes it, but it will require testing and a bunch of
paperwork. Since it has a relatively small impact, I'm a little
disinclined to go through all that, but we're discussing it. We'll
update the bug if we go this route.

** Package changed: pcmanfm-qt (Ubuntu) => libfm-qt (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1825485] Re: It requires two dependencies that are in conflict (libqt5core5a and qtbase-abi)

2019-04-22 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
So this was a problem caused by third-party PPA.

If you want newer Qt, it is better to upgrade to a newer Ubuntu version
(18.04 LTS has Qt 5.9, 19.04 has Qt 5.12), rather than use PPAs.

[Bug 1824981] Re: cifs set_oplock buffer overflow in strcat

New variant of kernel bug appeard in both 4.18.0-17 (package manager)

[Bug 1825485] Re: It requires two dependencies that are in conflict (libqt5core5a and qtbase-abi)

2019-04-22 Thread Jorgehn
I solved the problem, I had installed libqt5core5a but the version "5.5.1 +
dfsg-16ubuntu7.5 ~ ppa1404 + 1" that was installed when I added the repository
(deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/mscore-ubuntu/ mscore-stable / ubuntu trusty
main) this to be able to install (MuseScore). I had to unbundle the repository
and install the package "libqt5core5a_5.2.1 + dfsg-1ubuntu14.3_amd64.deb" from
(https://ubuntu.pkgs.org/14.04/ubuntu-updates-main-amd64/libqt5core5a_5.2.1+dfsg-
1ubuntu14.3_amd64.deb.html) and after updating the repositories, I was able to
install the package "libqt5multimedia5" that gave an unfulfilled dependency,
and in the end I could install other packages to finally install (Audacious)
even though I ran out (MuseScore) by now.
I thank you for the observation that helped me find the root of the problem.

Just to check which was installed before and which I already have now

Please also try installing some older kernel versions from here:

then reboot and as soon as the purple screen appears tap Escape. Then
navigate through the menus and choose an older kernel version to boot.

"After" doesn't mean "because of", but this does add to my suspicion towards
btrfs, since I had quite a few mysterious glitches on it.

If I ever see this issue again, I'll try to compare these versions.

[Bug 1825780] Re: Kprobe event string type argument failed in ftrace from ubuntu_kernel_selftests on B/C i386

2019-04-22 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
** Description changed:

  == Justification ==
- When running the ftrace in ubunut_kernel_selftests, the "Kprobe event string
type argument" will fail on Bionic / Cosmic i386:
- [22] Kprobe event string type argument [FAIL]
-
+ When running the ftrace in ubunut_kernel_selftests, the "Kprobe event string
type argument" test will fail on Bionic / Cosmic i386:
+   [22] Kprobe event string type argument [FAIL]

  == Fix ==
6fc7c411 (selftests/ftrace: Fix kprobe string testcase to not probe notrace
function)

This patch can be cherry-picked for Cosmic.

For Bionic and Xenial, it can be cherry-picked after the commit 9855c462
- for bug 1812809
+ for bug 1812809.

Although we don't run this ftrace test in Xenial, it will still be a
  plus to fix this.

It's already been applied in D.

  == Test ==
Patch tested with Bionic / Cosmic i386. Test passed as expected:
- [22] Kprobe event string type argument [PASS]
-
+   [22] Kprobe event string type argument [PASS]

  == Regression potential ==
  None.
This patch is just for the kernel testing tool.

[Bug 1825928] [NEW] "Could not install 'linux-image-5.0.0-13-generic" during 18.10 to 19.04 upgrade

2019-04-22 Thread Malcolm Smith
Public bug reported:

While upgrading from Ubuntu 18.10 to 19.04, I received the error message
"Could not install 'linux-image-5.0.0-13-generic". I was then informed
that my upgrade was aborted (screenshot:
https://web.tresorit.com/l#YFXUthEN464UCtK3_Nszbg).

The next day (immediately before filing this report), I tried to upgrade
again and this time it warned me that only a partial installation would
be performed. The partial upgrade appears successful but I am not sure
which parts of my OS were not included in the "partial".

I had previously commented on similar Bug #1825441
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-
upgrader/+bug/1825441) but was advised to open a new report.

Re: [Bug 1824893] Re: When I type systemctl reboot system reaches Target Reboot but then does not reboot

2019-04-22 Thread Robert Dinse
I'm going to need a bit of help with respect to where to find old
canonical kernel packages so I can find at what point it broke exactly.

I did compile 5.0.9 from kernel.org source and it does reboot properly
so I do know for certain that it is a kernel issue.

[Bug 1825071] Re: Super + p does not work as expected, it's defective

2019-04-22 Thread Jeremy
I am not aware of `xrandr` used for projector mode. I have no issues
with setting my monitors positions and screen resolution. The issue is
when I use Super + p (projector mode) to switch between the 4 mode
types:

- Mirror
- Join
- External
- Built-in

If `xrandr` can toggle projector mode, I am not aware of how and I could
not find anything in the man. Any assistance is appreciated.

Super + p does not work as intended for 18+ currently (worked for me on
14 and 16) This may be an issue with Gnome, I will try another Gnome
desktop flavor to see if this is the case. May take me a day or 2 to
respond as I have a heavy workload the next few weeks

[Bug 1825400] Re: PCI/internal sound card not detected [8086:2284]

2019-04-22 Thread Hui Wang
Please uninstall all audio dkms, then reboot:

first, find all eom-audio-hda-* packages via "dpkg --list | grep oem-
audio-hda*"

then dpkg -P those-package-names

reboot.

Please purge that PPA from your system and if you continue to have any

Hey there, tested the proposed -48 kernel. Did 15 reboot cycles and
everything started every time. Last time it succeeded approximately 90%
of the time. That is whey I went to 15 this time. Seems good.

[Bug 1825726] Re: Xorg freeze

2019-04-22 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.
