[Bug 1820144] Re: iptables-persistent fails in containers due to modprobe being unavailable even though module could've been loaded outside of the container

2019-05-03 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello WGH, or anyone else affected,

Accepted iptables-persistent into bionic-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/iptables-persistent/1.0.4+nmu2ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1827694] [NEW] Synaptics Touchpad doesn't support scroll after update to 19.04

2019-05-03 Thread kolya
Public bug reported:

I have Lenovo P50 laptop. After upgrading to 19.04 from 18.10 Synaptics
touchpad no longer supports scrolling after boot. It is also not
detected in 'mouse' settings.

After some research I found that running 'echo -n "reconnect" | sudo tee
/sys/bus/serio/devices/serio1/drvctl' seems to fix the problem.

Relevant info in dmesg:

```
$ dmesg | grep -E 'psmouse|i801'
[2.101685] i801_smbus :00:1f.4: enabling device ( -> 0003)
[3.112781] psmouse serio1: synaptics: Unable to initialize device.
```

This is a regression from 18.10 (and all versions before that that I've
run on this laptop).

Please let me know if more information is needed. Thanks.

[Bug 1749961] Re: xhci_hcd: TRB DMA errors reported with ASMedia ASM1142 USB 3.1 Controller

2019-05-03 Thread Gabe Esposito
I'm also experiencing the same issue with the ASM1142 controller on the
Core X Chroma and can reproduce consistently. I'm running kernel 5.0.9.

Guilherme, thanks for your work diagnosing this. This device is sold by
Razer. I will try and reach out but they do not claim Linux support on
any of their devices so I worry this may go unfixed. Barring a firmware
fix, is there any hope of this being fixed with a quirk, as the other
controller was? I realize this LP is not the ideal place for such a fix
to take place, but I am happy to participate in finding a solution.

** Description changed:

My Lenovo ideapad 330 laptop with Ubuntu 18.04 sounds works fine
initially. However, when I close it down (to sleep) and then return,
all the sound disappears. The only way to get back the sound is to
restart the laptop. The issue seem to start after a recent automatic
  update.

[Bug 1827419] Re: Show Action to Permanently Delete Files and Folders does not work in 19.04

2019-05-03 Thread Adam Jacobs
Reported upstream.

It's a shame, it sure seems like moving to the desktop-icons extension
gives up a lot of functionality that was available when nautilus
rendered the desktop. vmware-tools drag-and-drop is gone, too.

[Bug 1823761] Re: [SRU] Move Livepatch in a different tab as in Disco

2019-05-03 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello Andrea, or anyone else affected,

Accepted software-properties into bionic-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/software-properties/0.96.24.32.8 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1646762] Re: /usr/bin/gedit:11:g_type_check_instance_cast:GEDIT_OPEN_DOCUMENT_SELECTOR:real_populate_liststore:gdk_threads_dispatch:g_main_dispatch

2019-05-03 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello errors.ubuntu.com, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gedit into bionic-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/3.28.1-1ubuntu1.2 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

** Changed in: gedit (Ubuntu Bionic)
   Status: New => Fix Committed

[Bug 1820279] Re: [FFe] [SRU] build mellon with --enable-diagnostics to ease up SSO debugging

2019-05-03 Thread Steve Langasek
Sorry, this is not acceptable for SRU in its current form to bionic.
This is a 5kloc diff to the code which has as its justification the
enablement of a single debugging feature.

A cherry-pick of the commits specific to diagnostics support may be
acceptable under the SRU policy.

[Bug 1827690] Re: [19.04][stein] barbican-worker is down: Requested revision 1a0c2cdafb38 overlaps with other requested revisions 39cf2e645cba

2019-05-03 Thread Dmitrii Shcherbakov
Added the UCA package as well as I am not exactly sure where the root
cause is.

The logs attached above point to a synchronization issue in the charm
code because it looks to be that both units have similar errors but
"Table already exists" messages appear for different databases in
different units. Also barbican-worker logs for both units contain
messages about model migrations which is problematic as model migrations
are not idempotent.

[Bug 1821823] Re: No wireless networks displayed for broadcom BCM43142

2019-05-03 Thread Mathew Hodson
This was added to the release notes for Disco: "For secure-boot enabled
systems with Broadcom wireless, even after selecting the proprietary
drivers during the installation, the bcmwl dkms module can end up left
uninstalled after reboot (resulting in no working wifi). This is caused
by a dkms tooling regression. As a workaround the bcmwl-kernel-source
package needs to be reinstalled on the target system sudo apt-get
install --reinstall bcmwl-kernel-source. (bug 1821823)"

[Bug 1823332] Re: salt --versions-report broken in bionic/cosmic with openssl 1.1.1

2019-05-03 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello Dimitri, or anyone else affected,

Accepted salt into bionic-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/salt/2017.7.4+dfsg1-1ubuntu18.04.1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

I think this could be instead written as

self.usb_plug_check.set_active(self.usb == "True")

to cast from a string to a boolean (unless you expect there to be other
possible values besides "True" and "False")

would you want to make this change in devel and reupload to the queue?

2019-05-03 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello Tiit, or anyone else affected,

Accepted golang-google-grpc into cosmic-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/golang-
google-grpc/1.6.0-3ubuntu0.18.10.1 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-cosmic to verification-done-cosmic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-cosmic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

** Description changed:

  [Impact]

The version of golang-google-grpc packaged in bionic and cosmic
(1.6.0-3) crashes intermittently due to a race condition. Upstream bug
  report and pull requests:

  https://github.com/grpc/grpc-go/issues/
  https://github.com/grpc/grpc-go/pull/1546
  https://github.com/grpc/grpc-go/pull/1687

This can cause all packages Built-Using: golang-google-grpc=1.6.0-3 to
  crash as well (see
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/etcd/+bug/1800973).

The attached debdiff contains two upstream fixes squashed together:

https://github.com/grpc/grpc-go/commit/22c3f92f5faea8db492fb0f5ae4daf0d2752b19e

https://github.com/grpc/grpc-go/commit/c6b46087ab923e9f453ec433f99174cdd45b9b89

These fix the race by synchronizing the entire function.

  [Test Case]
+ The patch includes patches to test cases to exercise the race condition. One
test case would fail sometimes without the fix; the second test case would
always fail without the fix.

- 1. Download the source: apt source golang-google-grpc && cd
golang-google-grpc-1.6.0
- 2. Patch in the attached test cases: patch -p1 < test-cases-only.patch
-    - Theses are part of the upstream patch. Only apply manually to verify
problem pre-patch.
- 3. Build the package, running the test cases: dpkg-buildpackage --target
clean,build
-    - Since this is a race condition, the first test case is not guaranteed to
fail.
-    - The second test case should always fail.
-
- With the fixes applied there is no need for step 2 (the test cases are
- part of the patch) and step 3 succeeds every time without failure.
+ If the package builds successfully with the patch, then the test cases
+ have passed.

  [Regression Potential]

Regressions are unlikely due to the size and scope of the patch. The fix
has been applied upstream since 30 Nov 2017 and is still in use in the
  latest release:

  https://github.com/grpc/grpc-
  go/blob/v1.19.0/internal/transport/handler_server.go#L193

A possible source of regressions would be the squashing of the two
commits into one. Luckily they were also applied upstream immediately
one after the other so it should work without problems.

Another source would be if these patches depended on some other changes
made since 1.6.0-3. However testing has not revealed this to be the
  case.

Issues might also arise from my inexperience in updating Ubuntu packages
and submitting patches for Stable Release Updates.

  [Other Info]

As golang-google-grpc is a Go library it is linked into other packages
statically. This means that simply updating this package is not enough
and dependents need to be rebuilt to benefit from these fixes.

If this patch is accepted then I plan to open another SRU request to set
the fixed version as a minimal build dependency for etcd to have it also
  rebuilt and resolve
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/etcd/+bug/1800973.
