[Bug 1831964] [NEW] Miix 320 10ICR install ubuntu 19.04

2019-06-06 Thread Romeo Petruca
Public bug reported:

Installed ok.
Touchscreen working fine only in portrait.
In landscape if touching "Activities" will open
"Sound volume", "Brightnes", "WiFi", controls on right top corner.

- internal micro sd, webcams, still not working, waiting for that, minor
problems for me.

It's realy good think to get rid of windows.

note that there were no changes to the radeon code in the libdrm update,
so blaming the regression on it is weird, I'd suggest to look at KDE

And it took almost two weeks for you to notice this after the upgrade?
You still have the old libdrm available in the archive btw, does
downgrade do anything?

[Bug 1831959] Re: [nouveau] The screen froze

2019-06-06 Thread Daniel van Vugt
1. Please reproduce the problem again, then reboot and run:

   journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt

and send us the file 'prevboot.txt'.

2. Your computer seems to be in recovery mode with low quality graphics
mode enabled. If this is not intentional then please reboot and hold
down shift before the purple screen appears. Then navigate through the
menus and choose a normal kernel to boot that is not recovery mode.

Unlike what we have believed up to now, the issue is present on the
18.04.2 ISO as well, so I added a bionic bug task.

Possibly it's related to the last minute ubiquity changes before the
release of 18.04.

Re: [Bug 1831679] Re: update-manager removes nvidia drivers

2019-06-06 Thread SURENDRA SINGARAM
Hello Brian Murray,

Sure, I'll go through the update, the next time I'm prompted.

Do you want me to issue a sudo apt purge nvidia* and manually install
the nvidia drivers, instead?  Would you like me to add the the log files
to the bug report?  Thank you.

Best wishes,

Surendra

2019-06-06 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Alan,

Can you please wait till the problem happens again and then collect the
most recent system log immediately after that?

  journalctl -b0 > curjournal.txt

Then attach 'curjournal.txt'.

P.S. Your CPU temperature is exceeding the threshold and being throttled
a lot, FYI. But that's probably not related to this bug.

[Bug 722201] Re: CTDB port is not aware of Ubuntu-specific NFS Settings

2019-06-06 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
I have created the following PPA with all fixes:

https://launchpad.net/~rafaeldtinoco/+archive/ubuntu/lp1831381

And the following git repo:

https://code.launchpad.net/~rafaeldtinoco/ubuntu/+source/samba/+git/samba

Contains all commits I'm gonna propose tomorrow.

Because of git-ubuntu, I had to rebase all the code I have tested
before, and knew was working good, so I want to give it a last test
before asking for a merge request do Eoan, suggesting do Debian and
cherry-picking to Disco, Cosmic and Bionic.

@Robert,

Feel free to test this PPA if you would like (its Eoan only for now). If
not, I'll test all the others anyway. Note that I have created a small
script to "enable" the NFS HA nodes and make our lives easier. I'll
create proper documentation on how to use it also, but its very
straighforward if you execute:

$ cd /etc/ctdb/examples
$ ./enable-nfs.sh

[Bug 378561] Re: [needs-packaging] vbam

Is packaging for 19.04 difficult or time consuming? Or should I try to

I made a 4.15 test kernel available at

You can find the backported patches in the same directory.

Do you think you can test this kernel and verify if it's working

[Bug 1831631] Re: grub should be pre-installed on images

2019-06-06 Thread Steve Langasek
Yeah, I suppose we can get away with quite a lot of that. The fixed
per-layer disk overhead of each squashfs looks like it's on the order of
4M (/var/lib/dpkg/status + /var/lib/apt/extended_states), which is not
large in the grand scheme. And since we know this layer would be used
unconditionally for all subiquity install methods it would not make it
harder for us to ensure everything remained a tree.

[Bug 1802233] Re: hwclock test failed on Power9 due to 0.x sec differences / time out waiting for time change

2019-06-06 Thread Manoj Iyer
Sorry did not realize that all the comments were not correctly mirrored
over. A launchpad bug was reported by the Ubuntu kernel team as a result
of their testing in the lab. We were not sure if this was a BMC issue, a
hardware issue or kernel bug, so there is no github report as of now. If
you think this is related to the BMC I can open a github bug. Also
please tell us how to open bugs for BMC on Bostons.

== P9 Boston ==
There seems to be a delay between setting the hwclock and reading from it.
ubuntu@tiselius:~$ sudo /sbin/hwclock --set --date "2004/11/21 04:10:00"; sudo
strace -e ioctl "/sbin/hwclock"
ioctl(4, RTC_UIE_ON) = -1 EINVAL (Invalid argument)
ioctl(4, RTC_RD_TIME, {tm_sec=0, tm_min=10, tm_hour=4, tm_mday=21, tm_mon=10,
tm_year=104, ...}) = 0
ioctl(4, RTC_RD_TIME, {tm_sec=0, tm_min=10, tm_hour=4, tm_mday=21, tm_mon=10,
tm_year=104, ...}) = 0

when the hwclock command fails, the ioctl that fails is RTC_RD_TIME..
but running it with --verbose probably gives it just enough time to
complete the sync.

Or you could use the command as follows:
ubuntu@tiselius:~$ sudo /sbin/hwclock --set --date "2004/11/22 04:10:00"; sudo
/sbin/hwclock --delay=0.5
2004-11-22 04:09:59.898618+00:00
ubuntu@tiselius:~$

== P9 Witherspoon ==
On the Witherspoon the hwclock does not seem to set at all.

[Bug 1831945] [NEW] HDMI/DP audio: ELD not updated on hotplug event

2019-06-06 Thread Daniel Dadap
Public bug reported:

When using HDMI or Displayport audio, the EDID-like Data (ELD) fails to
update properly when hotplugging or hot-unplugging displays. This in
turn prevents tools like the GNOME sound settings control panel from
accurately presenting the system's current audio capabilities.

How reproducible:

Hot plug and hot unplug an audio-capable display and observe the state
of the ELDs, either by directly reading the ELD files in
/proc/asound/card*/eld* or by examining the available audio output
devices in the GNOME sound settings control panel.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Log into a desktop session with no audio-capable displays plugged in
2. Plug in an audio-capable display
3. Open the GNOME sound settings control panel

Actual results:

The audio-capable display is not selectable as an output device.

Expected results:

The audio-capable display should be selectable as an output device.

Additional info:

This bug has been fixed upstream with commit
37a3a98ef601f89100e3bb657fb0e190b857028c. Applying this change alone to
the bionic 4.18 HWE kernel is sufficient to allow the expected behavior
to occur. It is likely to be sufficient to fix the same bug, assuming it
exists, in Cosmic, but neither the presence of the bug nor the
sufficiency of the patch were tested. The bug is likely not present in
Disco, but this was not tested.

This behavior was observed on a system with an NVIDIA GPU running the
NVIDIA proprietary driver. The particular NVIDIA GPU on the system is
not currently compatible with Nouveau. It is possible and likely that
this problem is also reproducible on other systems which do have GPUs
that are compatible with Nouveau, and even on systems with HDMI or
Displayport connectors being driven by non-NVIDIA GPUs.

When the ELD fails to update in response to a hotplug event, an update
can be forced by accessing the underlying ALSA codec directly. For
example, playing an audio stream directly via ALSA or even just reading
from the /proc/asound/cardX/codec#Y file will cause the ELD to become
updated. This is of course unnecessary if the patch which fixes the
issue is applied, but it does offer a somewhat simple workaround for
affected users until the patch can be backported.

With 2.13.2 and the most recent testsuite patches from the 2.13 branch,

[Bug 1754671] Re: Full-tunnel VPN DNS leakage regression

2019-06-06 Thread Till Kamppeter
I have checked again on Bionic, making sure that the installed systemd
actually comes from the bionic-proposed repository, that the behavior
according to the test case shown in the initial description of this bug
is correct, DNS queries of destinations in the VPN done through the
VPN's DNS and DNS queries to public destinations being done through the
public DNS.

This works correctly and so the systemd update together with the
network-manager update fixes the bug described here. So I am marking
this bug as verified in Bionic.

[Bug 1831942] [NEW] support u-boot Flat Image Tree (FIT) signing support

We need a mechanism for securely signing Flat Image Tree binaries. This
will be performed in a similar manner to UEFI signing support via a
custom binary upload to launchpad. We will also need a u-boot update to

[Bug 1831939] [NEW] Enable dash to dock settings panel in Tweaks

2019-06-06 Thread Carlos Pita
Public bug reported:

Currently there is a simplified Settings view for the novice user.

I see no reason to force the advanced user to use Dconf editor when the
extension provides a really great configuration dialog accesible from
Tweaks.

Tweaks is not for the casual user (it's not even pre-installed), there
are already basic settings in Settings, I see no point in Ubuntu
removing the extra configuration.

[Bug 1816468] Re: Acceleration cinder - glance with ceph not working

2019-06-06 Thread melanie witt
I think either way, we would want a patch in glance as well, if it is
using the fsid from ceph.

(later)

Looking through the code, I found that such a change has already been
made:

https://github.com/openstack/glance_store/blob/6266ddf45f4d006cd7a8304224ec0ba0774489c1/glance_store/_drivers/rbd.py#L507

to fix this glance store bug:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/glance-store/+bug/1816721

This fix was released in glance_store 0.28.0.

Edward, is your local deployment using at least glance_store 0.28.0?

[Bug 1831933] [NEW] do-release-upgrade tries to install snaps even if it knows it can't reach the snapstore

2019-06-06 Thread Dan Streetman
Public bug reported:

[impact]

do-release-upgrade has a quirk that, if ubuntu-desktop and snapd are
installed, tries to replace installed debs with snaps. To do this, it
first, early in the upgrade process, checks the connectivity to the snap
store. If that fails, it notifies the user and asks if upgrade should
be aborted. If the user says no (or if the user is upgrading in non-
interactive mode) then upgrade continues. At the end, the upgrade tries
to replace some installed debs with snaps, even if it already knows that
it can't connect to the snap store, from the earlier connectivity check.

This results in a minor annoyance, of extra time trying to install snaps
when there is no possibility of it working, as well as 'error' messages
printed:

Installing snap gnome-3-26-1604
error: cannot install "gnome-3-26-1604": Post
https://api.snapcraft.io/v2/snaps/refresh: dial tcp 91.189.92.38:443:
connect: connection refused

Installing snap gtk-common-themes
error: cannot install "gtk-common-themes": Post
https://api.snapcraft.io/v2/snaps/refresh: dial tcp 91.189.92.38:443:

Installing snap gnome-calculator
error: cannot install "gnome-calculator": Post
https://api.snapcraft.io/v2/snaps/refresh: dial tcp 91.189.92.19:443:

Installing snap gnome-characters
error: cannot install "gnome-characters": Post
https://api.snapcraft.io/v2/snaps/refresh: dial tcp 91.189.92.38:443:

Installing snap gnome-logs

https://api.snapcraft.io/v2/snaps/refresh: dial tcp 91.189.92.19:443:

Installing snap gnome-system-monitor
error: cannot install "gnome-system-monitor": Post
https://api.snapcraft.io/v2/snaps/refresh: dial tcp 91.189.92.38:443:
connect: connection refused

[test case]

install a xenial system in a VM and block (only) access to the snap
store, e.g:

$ virsh nwfilter-dumpxml block-snapstore

  36dbe3e7-4085-4da8-bc9b-f56f2029431a

and add this inside a VM's xml:

Then in the VM, make sure to install both ubuntu-desktop and snapd, and
then run do-release-upgrade. During the upgrade it should prompt due to
the failed connectivity to the snapstore; tell it to continue the
upgrade. At the end, the above 'error' messages should print out, when
the snaps are attempted to be installed.

[regression potential]

any regression would likely involve incorrectly not installing snaps.

** Affects: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Confirmed

[Bug 1831934] [NEW] [MIR] ec2-hibinit-agent

2019-06-06 Thread Balint Reczey
Public bug reported:

[Availability]
In universe

[Rationale]
Ec2-hibinit-agent is needed on EC2 images.

[Security]
There are no outstanding nor historical security issues.
This package and the upstream source are based on hibagent which have been
reviewed by the Security Team, but a new review is probably warranted.

[Quality Assurance]
There are no outstanding bugs but a TODO in packagin which may need some effort
to clear:
 $ cat debian/TODO
 Use proper upstream tarball

[Dependencies]
All in main (python3:any, acpid, grub2-common)

[Standards Compliance]
FHS and Debian Policy compliant except for this Lintian warning

W: ec2-hibinit-agent: binary-without-manpage usr/bin/hibinit-agent

[Maintenance]
Packaging is minimal.

[Background]
Ec2-hibinit-agent is an agent for allowing triggering hibernation in EC2
instances from outside.
Upstream seems to be forked off from hibagent's codebase which package is also
in main.

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hibagent
(MIR: LP: #1733349 ).

[Bug 1607874] Re: package sysv-rc 2.88dsf-59.3ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2019-06-06 Thread tuxayo
Hi, I upgraded a Ubuntu 14.04 to 16.04 and got many failed packages
configurations during the upgrade. It's likely due to this.

After the upgrade, *before rebooting*, I did

dpkg --configure --pending

remaining errors were on linux-* packages and initramsfs-tools, still
not rebooted.

I removed old packages from kernel 3.13 that where still here and caused
failures on microcode

dpkg --configure -a
issue with casper-memdisk

Removed it:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/624519/upgrade-from-14-04-to-15-04-fails/635679#635679
sudo dpkg -P casper-memdisk

dpkg --configure -a
success

reboot, doesn't boot

grub => failsafe
in menu select => continue normal boot (actually that's not a normal boot, I
guess things like nomodeset have been added)
boot success

To be continued: to be able to normally boot. But I hope that these
details can help someone else. (disclaimer: I might have done something
stupid ^^")

[Bug 1784796] Re: apt update fails - 'std::runtime_error' what(): random_device::__x86_rdrand(void)

2019-06-06 Thread David Haggett
In my case, it was happening on a headless server so lots of keyboard
access isn't an option. I actually fixed it on my system by reversing a
change to a BIOS setting which I had initially changed to work around
the same issue on a previous occurrence.

The setting on my system related to the execute disable bit.

[Bug 1816468] Re: Acceleration cinder - glance with ceph not working

2019-06-06 Thread Edward Hope-Morley
as an aside, i just tested the nova patch in a local deployment and it
isn't actually sufficient to resolve the problem because the value
stored by glance is also invalid -
https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/mj9gFpSBMv/

i'll have a look see if i can get the glance value stripped of invalid
characters when doing the comparison but otherwise ill have to patch
glance as well.

May be it would be usefull, touchpad doesn't work at all.
If I execute commands

sudo rmmode psmouse
sudo modprobe psmouse proto=imps

Trackpoint and touchpad work properly, but I cannot turn off touchpad,
because they are detected as one device

[Bug 1831629] Re: snapd hammers SSD for long periods

2019-06-06 Thread Colin Ian King

is causing the I/O.

sudo apt install fnotifystat
sudo fnotifystat

or to look for a specific process use:

sudo fnotifystat -p snapd
