[Bug 1836521] Re: Mainline kernel build failure - 5.2, 5.1.17
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1836521/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1629715] Re: [SRU] usb-creator-kde shows the install popup after a few seconds of launching without any input
** Description changed: [SRU] [Impact] Unlike usb-creator-gtk, which has a different codebase, usb-creator-kde has long been non-functional, getting stuck immediately upon launching. This means that for Kubuntu, post-18.04 Lubuntu, and any user who chooses to use usb-creator-kde, it is useless. There is code to setup a progress dialog for when a USB is being written to, but it is in the class initialization, so it displays immediately. This moves that to the actual install method so it doesn't appear until the user clicks the button the perform the USB install. [Test Case] To reproduce the bug, simply launch usb-creator-kde (Startup Disk Creator in the menu). If the bug is present, the installation popup immediately displays, rendering the program unusable. If the bug is NOT present, the program should wait for the ISO and target to be specified and the button to perform the install to be clicked before the installation popup shows. It is highly recommended that a USB install is performed as part of the testing if the bug is not present. See below. [Regression Potential] The patch is small, applies cleanly, and does nothing to change logic. It merely moves logic around. There should be no reason why this should cause any sort of regression. The most likely cause of a regression would be the fact that the program has been unusable for so long, it hasn't seen a lot of use and, as such, its quality is a bit unknown. I would hope anyone testing would ensure that the basic function is there. == [Original Description] - STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Launch usb-creator-kde (Startup Disk Creator) EXPECTED RESULTS Application launches normally, waiting for the ISO and target before installing. ACTUAL RESULTS Without any input, the installation popup immediately shows up, making the program unusable. AFFECTED VERSIONS 0.3.2 0.3.5 (possibly earlier versions, but couldn't install in trusty) NOTES & WORKAROUND usb-creator-gtk is unaffected by this bug + + Tracked by Lubuntu here: https://phab.lubuntu.me/T51 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1629715 Title: [SRU] usb-creator-kde shows the install popup after a few seconds of launching without any input To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usb-creator/+bug/1629715/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi, @wjbarid, In order to determine the right hardware spec on your device, please attach `sudo lspci -vvnnk` output. It will contains subsystem ID that can be used to find the right iwlwifi model. For bluetooth firmware blob name, you should try: 1. clone https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux- firmware.git and replace the intel/ subdirectory. Something like: $ sudo mv /lib/firmware/intel /lib/firmware/intel.orig $ sudo cp -a _git_cloned_firmwares_/intel /lib/firmware 2. power off your machine completely and turn it on again *after* 30 seconds or so. 3. capture the dmesg output for Bluetooth|hci: $ dmesg | egrep -i 'blue|hci' You should find something like: Bluetooth: hci0: Found device firmware: intel/ibt-11-5.sfi -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1836467 Title: Bluetooth fails with "Bluetooth: hci0: request failed to create LE connection: status 0x0c" message with Kernel 4.20 and up To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1836467/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have already compared all other debian/ubuntu/patches/XX and it looks like only lp1828495-0015-remove-cpuid-intel_pt.patch was changed from one merge request to another. [Bug 1629715] Re: [SRU] usb-creator-kde shows the install popup after a few seconds of launching without any input
** Description changed: + [SRU] + + [Impact] + + Unlike usb-creator-gtk, which has a different codebase, usb-creator-kde + has long been non-functional, getting stuck immediately upon launching. + This means that for Kubuntu, post-18.04 Lubuntu, and any user who + chooses to use usb-creator-kde, it is useless. + + There is code to setup a progress dialog for when a USB is being written + to, but it is in the class initialization, so it displays immediately. + This moves that to the actual install method so it doesn't appear until + the user clicks the button the perform the USB install. + + [Test Case] + + To reproduce the bug, simply launch usb-creator-kde (Startup Disk + Creator in the menu). + + If the bug is present, the installation popup immediately displays, + rendering the program unusable. + + If the bug is NOT present, the program should wait for the ISO and + target to be specified and the button to perform the install to be + clicked before the installation popup shows. + + It is highly recommended that a USB install is performed as part of the + testing if the bug is not present. See below. + + [Regression Potential] + + The patch is small, applies cleanly, and does nothing to change logic. + It merely moves logic around. There should be no reason why this should + cause any sort of regression. + + The most likely cause of a regression would be the fact that the program + has been unusable for so long, it hasn't seen a lot of use and, as such, + its quality is a bit unknown. I would hope anyone testing would ensure + that the basic function is there. + + == + + [Original Description] + + STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Launch usb-creator-kde (Startup Disk Creator) EXPECTED RESULTS Application launches normally, waiting for the ISO and target before installing. ACTUAL RESULTS Without any input, the installation popup immediately shows up, making the program unusable. [Bug 1836509] [NEW] grub won't install after ubuntu 18.04 installation
Public bug reported: Now I very meticulously cleaned the hard drive with gparted, created a GPT partition table, created a FAT32 partition of 500MB and set both ESP and BOOT flags, and then created the rest of the partitions I wanted, including a SWAP. I then chose "Do something else" and there the ESP partition was clearly visible and would be used. After I declared all the other partitions, the installations process __AGAIN__ gave me the old stubborn error "the grub-efi-amd64 package failed to install into /target/". The computer I'm trying to install is a HP elite 8200 with and I5-2500 and a 500Gb hd. I couldn't find anything in the BIOS settings that would indicate that is was set to legacy mode BIOS so I presume that it is running in UEFI mode. If you need further information, don't hesitate to mail me about it. A final note: After using Linux for many years now, I really got to love and respect it very much, and I don't even want to think of what life would be without it!!! I hope that you on Canonical also love and respect this wonderful gift that Linus Torwalds left us with - to make us free and powerful computer users. I really hope that you would __FIX__ this error once and for all (as it really did work in the previous versions) and release it as a new 18.04 LTS version. [Bug 1836499] Re: Ignores HintSystem (UDISKS_SYSTEM)
The documentation is a little bit confusing here -- the "HintSystem" property is not about the device access or filesystem permissions, it's about "accessing" UDisks functions using PolicyKit.
