[Bug 1570617] Re: [MIR] edk2

2019-07-14 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Hrm, why didn't this component-mismatch when migrating, I must have missed
something:
>From build [1]:

But:

This is from rmadison, another view onto the same is in an eoan system of today:
root@e:~# apt-cache policy qemu-system-x86 ovmf

Yet things migrated, [2] is in release pocket.
And it is not showing up in [3] as I'd have expected.

Sorry Dannf for the extra delay, maybe there is another hidden archive
mechanic I have yet to learn :-/ - I'll need to reach out.

[Bug 1836521] Re: Mainline kernel build failure - 5.2, 5.1.17

2019-07-14 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1836521/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1629715] Re: [SRU] usb-creator-kde shows the install popup after a few seconds of launching without any input

2019-07-14 Thread Walter Lapchynski
** Description changed:

  [SRU]

  [Impact]

Unlike usb-creator-gtk, which has a different codebase, usb-creator-kde
has long been non-functional, getting stuck immediately upon launching.
This means that for Kubuntu, post-18.04 Lubuntu, and any user who
chooses to use usb-creator-kde, it is useless.

There is code to setup a progress dialog for when a USB is being written
to, but it is in the class initialization, so it displays immediately.
This moves that to the actual install method so it doesn't appear until
the user clicks the button the perform the USB install.

  [Test Case]

To reproduce the bug, simply launch usb-creator-kde (Startup Disk
  Creator in the menu).

If the bug is present, the installation popup immediately displays,
  rendering the program unusable.

If the bug is NOT present, the program should wait for the ISO and
target to be specified and the button to perform the install to be
clicked before the installation popup shows.

It is highly recommended that a USB install is performed as part of the
testing if the bug is not present. See below.

  [Regression Potential]

The patch is small, applies cleanly, and does nothing to change logic.
It merely moves logic around. There should be no reason why this should
  cause any sort of regression.

The most likely cause of a regression would be the fact that the program
has been unusable for so long, it hasn't seen a lot of use and, as such,
its quality is a bit unknown. I would hope anyone testing would ensure
that the basic function is there.

  ==

  [Original Description]

-
  STEPS TO REPRODUCE
   1. Launch usb-creator-kde (Startup Disk Creator)

  EXPECTED RESULTS
Application launches normally, waiting for the ISO and target before
installing.

  ACTUAL RESULTS
Without any input, the installation popup immediately shows up, making the
program unusable.

  AFFECTED VERSIONS
  0.3.2
  0.3.5
(possibly earlier versions, but couldn't install in trusty)

that my ASUS ZenBook is having the same problem. I re-installed Ubuntu and have

something that will be fixed with a future update? Or, will I need to do this

[Bug 1836467] Re: Bluetooth fails with "Bluetooth: hci0: request failed to create LE connection: status 0x0c" message with Kernel 4.20 and up

2019-07-14 Thread You-Sheng Yang
Hi, @wjbarid,

In order to determine the right hardware spec on your device, please
attach `sudo lspci -vvnnk` output. It will contains subsystem ID that
can be used to find the right iwlwifi model.

For bluetooth firmware blob name, you should try:

1. clone https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-
firmware.git and replace the intel/ subdirectory. Something like:

  $ sudo mv /lib/firmware/intel /lib/firmware/intel.orig
  $ sudo cp -a _git_cloned_firmwares_/intel /lib/firmware

2. power off your machine completely and turn it on again *after* 30
seconds or so.

3. capture the dmesg output for Bluetooth|hci:

  $ dmesg | egrep -i 'blue|hci'

You should find something like:

Bluetooth: hci0: Found device firmware: intel/ibt-11-5.sfi

[Bug 1775165] Re: fanotify07/fanotify08 in LTP syscall test generates kernel trace with T/X/X-AWS kernel

2019-07-14 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Hi Matthew,

I think that's a valid point to mark this bug as a Won't Fix for X
(which applies to T as well).

Thanks for working on this one.
I will bring this to the LTP, to see if we can skip this one with older kernels.

I think we're good now, will test it in my new Intel environment (I had

issues with Intel CPUs).

Thanks.

[Bug 1828393] Re: Unable to use bluetooth headset with mic and a2dp audio

2019-07-14 Thread Daniel van Vugt
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 508522 ***

Eric, it sounds like you're right about the "true bug".

However I also feel this bug report as it was originally worded is not
really any different to bug 508522.

I suggest the right thing to do here is to:

1. Open a new bug for what you describe.
2. Mark bug 1828393 as a duplicate of bug 508522 again.
3. Correct any misunderstandings in bug 508522 and link to your new bug. Maybe
bug 508522 will become a duplicate of your new bug.

[Bug 1836299] Re: Migration with Host model fails to set md-clear (not yet released in archive)

2019-07-14 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
Hey Christian:

Checking out my merge requests from:

https://code.launchpad.net/~rafaeldtinoco/ubuntu/+source/qemu

You can see that the upstream commit:

https://github.com/qemu/qemu/commit/4c257911dcc7

Is the same in the QEMU Bionic MR:

https://git.launchpad.net/~rafaeldtinoco/ubuntu/+source/qemu/commit/?id=da8eec6e84a0f04226d6f6e1bf5bbb80befe6c53

But something odd happened in Disco MR:

https://git.launchpad.net/~rafaeldtinoco/ubuntu/+source/qemu/commit/?id=84eb95cbd1f62d964f8986e227297a1811de234a

And the patch looks like a mix of several other patches :\, and it
removed md-clear flag from FEAT_7_0_EDX (possible cause of this issue),
among several other wrong things it wasn't supposed to.

I have already compared all other debian/ubuntu/patches/XX and it looks
like only lp1828495-0015-remove-cpuid-intel_pt.patch was changed from
one merge request to another. I'm fixing it, really unsure what happened
there :\.

Well, this was a LONG time ago, and I must have figured out how to get around

It seems to me that reporting not being able to get Wi-Fi to work, when it had
worked perfectly well in all [L]Ubuntu versions I had used previous to 16.04
(with no fiddling at all), certainly does "appear to be a bug report" to me...

[Bug 1629715] Re: [SRU] usb-creator-kde shows the install popup after a few seconds of launching without any input

2019-07-14 Thread Walter Lapchynski
** Description changed:

+ [SRU]
+
+ [Impact]
+
+ Unlike usb-creator-gtk, which has a different codebase, usb-creator-kde
+ has long been non-functional, getting stuck immediately upon launching.
+ This means that for Kubuntu, post-18.04 Lubuntu, and any user who
+ chooses to use usb-creator-kde, it is useless.
+
+ There is code to setup a progress dialog for when a USB is being written
+ to, but it is in the class initialization, so it displays immediately.
+ This moves that to the actual install method so it doesn't appear until
+ the user clicks the button the perform the USB install.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ To reproduce the bug, simply launch usb-creator-kde (Startup Disk
+ Creator in the menu).
+
+ If the bug is present, the installation popup immediately displays,
+ rendering the program unusable.
+
+ If the bug is NOT present, the program should wait for the ISO and
+ target to be specified and the button to perform the install to be
+ clicked before the installation popup shows.
+
+ It is highly recommended that a USB install is performed as part of the
+ testing if the bug is not present. See below.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ The patch is small, applies cleanly, and does nothing to change logic.
+ It merely moves logic around. There should be no reason why this should
+ cause any sort of regression.
+
+ The most likely cause of a regression would be the fact that the program
+ has been unusable for so long, it hasn't seen a lot of use and, as such,
+ its quality is a bit unknown. I would hope anyone testing would ensure
+ that the basic function is there.
+
+ ==
+
+ [Original Description]
+
+
  STEPS TO REPRODUCE
   1. Launch usb-creator-kde (Startup Disk Creator)

  EXPECTED RESULTS
Application launches normally, waiting for the ISO and target before
installing.

  ACTUAL RESULTS
Without any input, the installation popup immediately shows up, making the
program unusable.

  AFFECTED VERSIONS
  0.3.2
  0.3.5
(possibly earlier versions, but couldn't install in trusty)

  NOTES & WORKAROUND

[Bug 1789971] Re: gnome-keyring doesn't pick up .ssh/id_rsa

2019-07-14 Thread Walter Lapchynski
I tested in 18.04.2, an upgraded 18.04 from 16.04 and 16.04 and I had
the same results. That I said, I must be doing something wrong. Here's
what I did:

 1. Enable "SSH Key Agent" in the "Autostart" section of lubuntu-default-apps
 1. Run `ssh-keygen`
 1. Reboot
 1. Run `ssh-add -l`

I'll notice there were two `ssh-agent`s running and that when trying to
run `gnome-keyring` manually, it complains that
/run/user/1000/keyring/control is not there, but it indeed is.

[Bug 1836509] [NEW] grub won't install after ubuntu 18.04 installation

2019-07-14 Thread Gunnar Hjern
Public bug reported:

Now I very meticulously cleaned the hard drive with gparted, created a GPT
partition table, created a FAT32 partition of 500MB and set both ESP and BOOT
flags, and then created the rest of the partitions I wanted, including a SWAP.
I then chose "Do something else" and there the ESP partition was clearly
visible and would be used. After I declared all the other partitions, the
installations process __AGAIN__ gave me the old stubborn error "the
grub-efi-amd64 package failed to install into /target/".

The computer I'm trying to install is a HP elite 8200 with and I5-2500 and a
500Gb hd.
I couldn't find anything in the BIOS settings that would indicate that is was
set to legacy mode BIOS so I presume that it is running in UEFI mode.
If you need further information, don't hesitate to mail me about it.

A final note:
After using Linux for many years now, I really got to love and respect it very
much, and I don't even want to think of what life would be without it!!!
I hope that you on Canonical also love and respect this wonderful gift that
Linus Torwalds left us with - to make us free and powerful computer users. I
really hope that you would __FIX__ this error once and for all (as it really
did work in the previous versions) and release it as a new 18.04 LTS version.

Kindest regards
Gunnar

Seems the file screendump I tried to attach didn't make it through, so trying
again.
These screendumps shows both the gparted when the EFI partition was created,
and the installer partition tables when trying to install.

[Bug 1836499] Re: Ignores HintSystem (UDISKS_SYSTEM)

2019-07-14 Thread Vojtěch Trefný
The documentation is a little bit confusing here -- the "HintSystem"
property is not about the device access or filesystem permissions, it's
about "accessing" UDisks functions using PolicyKit.

See the policies here [1] for mounting filesystems -- "normal" devices
can be mounted by a "regular" user (in an active session), but "system"
devices require root authentication (similar policies exist for
unlocking encrypted devices, ejecting drives etc.)

[Bug 1836500] [NEW] open-vm-tools

2019-07-14 Thread Lars Pettersson
Public bug reported:

0) run bionic ver 18.04.1 in vmware player VM-machine ver 15.04
Everything worked fine until today when updating.
open-vm-tools has version 3.5.7 (working)

1) Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS Release: 18.04

2) apt-cache policy open-vm-tools
open-vm-tools:
  Installerad: 2:10.3.5-7~ubuntu0.18.04.1
  Kandidat:2:10.3.5-7~ubuntu0.18.04.1
  Versionstabell:
 *** 2:10.3.5-7~ubuntu0.18.04.1 100
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 2:10.2.0-3ubuntu3 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 Packages

3) After upgrading "all" I expected the VM to start as usal
and show the login.

4) When starting the VM it comes as far as starting the graphical
interface just befor showing the login.
It just hangs from there, can only be turned off.

I debugged by restoring a backup and then adding the
packages in smaller groups and could see that updating
to the latest open-vm-tools created this problem.

I also run Linux-mint as VM on the same host wich works
fine but it uses manual installation of vmware tools.

I tested with vmware player 15.04 and 15.1, same result.

I can't see the version on the the open-vm-tools package
fetched from the server used for the update, guess it's
latest whatever that is.

[Bug 1832988] Re: Intel 8260 Bluetooth not working

2019-07-14 Thread MAshby
I re-installed the default kernel using the following command:
$ sudo apt install --reinstall linux-image-5.0.0-20-generic
then installed the latest linux-firmware as directed above,
and now bluetooth is broken again, same as before. I guess this means that your
fix is required Kai-Heng.

Thanks for the assistance
