[Bug 1841661] Re: The cursor disappears, when I use GNOME on Wayland

2019-08-27 Thread Iain Lane
Actually, I'm not certain it is a duplicate of that one - this bug I
think is a regression in eoan due to some change in the kernel between
disco and eoan. Perhaps they are related though.

When I'm back from travelling I'll try to do a little bit of
investigation (but I don't know anything about the DRM subsystem so
bisecting is probably the best that I'm going to be able to achieve).

[Bug 1838575] Re: passthrough devices cause >17min boot delay

2019-08-27 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Each qemu (version) is slightly different in the road to this, but then
seems to behave.

This one is slightly better to get "in front" of the slow call to map all the
memory.
$ virsh nodedev-detach pci__21_00_1 --driver vfio
$ gdb /usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64
(gdb) b vfio_dma_map
(gdb) command 1
Type commands for breakpoint(s) 1, one per line.
End with a line saying just "end".
>silent
>if size != 134217728000
 >cont
 >end
>end
(gdb) run -m 131072 -smp 1 -no-user-config -device
vfio-pci,host=21:00.1,id=hostdev0,bus=pci.0,addr=0x7 -enable-kvm
(gdb) catch syscall 16
(gdb) c

Also correct the link to qemu - it is the one from vfio_listener_region_add:
https://git.qemu.org/?p=qemu.git;a=blob;f=hw/vfio/common.c;h=3e03c495d868f154b26a33c0c2d870273a0b4198;hb=HEAD#l664

[Bug 1841717] [NEW] Remove from Ubuntu 19.10

2019-08-27 Thread Bryan Quigley
Public bug reported:

This was originally added with the expectation that Ubuntu (it's not in
Debian) had a team to maintain it: See original add bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openerp6.1/+bug/1053933

Odoo (they renamed years ago) is actively maintained and is at version
12 (https://www.odoo.com/odoo-12-release-notes /
https://github.com/odoo/odoo).

Odoo itself provide their own debs (and RPMs and docker images, etc) and
is available as a SaaS. It's an impressive product but I don't see an
advantage of having in Archive vs their own distribution method.

I don't think it's feasible to try to add Odoo 12 as an upgrade to
OpenERP6.1, so even if someone wanted a modern variant in archive I
think it would have to be a distinct package.

[Bug 1102906] Re: Cannot broadcast both on global and link address on same interface

2019-08-27 Thread Trent Lloyd
Part of the reason this behavior exists in Avahi is that many
applications do not correctly retrieve the scope ID (interface index)
when doing hostname resolution, and if not supplied then connection to
such a link local address will fail. Applications are likely to receive
such an address at random.

Also until very recently nss-mdns didn't actually support passing
through that scope ID, though it now does in the latest versions.

So changing Avahi to always return these link local IPs is much more
likely to break pretty much every other application except Pidgin. To my
mind what Pidgin should do to resolve this issue is to explicitly either
not block based on the incoming IP address, or, bind explicitly to the
IP address that is being advertised to prevent the connection being
sourced from the link local address.

[Bug 1841715] [NEW] Remove testdrive from Ubuntu 19.10

2019-08-27 Thread Bryan Quigley
Public bug reported:

Upstream development stopped in 2015: https://code.launchpad.net/testdrive
It depends on bits we want to remove
* Python2
* pygtk (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/testdrive/+bug/1740817)
* python-notify

No reverse depends:
bryan@desktop:~$ reverse-depends src:testdrive
No reverse dependencies found
bryan@desktop:~$ reverse-depends -b src:testdrive
No reverse dependencies found

I did look at forking it for a bit. My evaluation is it makes more
sense to add this functionality to something else rather than keep this
package in archive. (virt-manager , Boxes, or multipass - was aiming
for multipass but so far it was decided this was out of scope)

[Bug 1841680] Re: gnome-shell crashes with SIGTRAP: Finalizing wrapper for an already freed object of type: Clutter.PropertyTransition

2019-08-27 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

Are you saying it appears to be fixed now?

If not then your video seems to suggest part of the problem is also the
snap resource usage on startup. Do you encounter the same bug WITHOUT
starting Chromium?

[Bug 1841673] Re: GNOME Shell crashed

[Bug 1841699] [NEW] Remove from Archive 19.10

It is for an older version of the Unity desktop.

$ reverse-depends src:ubuntu-online-tour
No reverse dependencies found
$ reverse-depends -b src:ubuntu-online-tour

>From the Github archive:
"This project has been discontinued, and will be archived. This project hasn't
been updated since Ubuntu 14.04, and we have no future plans to keep it up to
date with the latest Ubuntu versions.

The project will be taken down from https://tour.ubuntu.com, and that
domain will be redirected to https://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/features.
The code will remain here for the foreseeable future for posterity."

I see no reason to have it in the Ubuntu archive. It also depends on
python2 (for building).

Thanks for filing a bug.

I can recreate this using your config file. It appears to be related to
the shell parsing of that value, if you leave a space before the start
of the list and the end like so:

diff -u /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg.d/90_dpkg.cfg.bad
/etc/cloud/cloud.cfg.d/90_dpkg.cfg

@@ -1,2 +1,2 @@
 # to update this file, run dpkg-reconfigure cloud-init

I believe this is due to manual modification of the file, correct?

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1841669] Re: SR-IOV interface goes down when testing network performance

2019-08-27 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1841669/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1721401] Re: eog fails to open png: Failed to register: Timeout was reached

2019-08-27 Thread tomdean
I have another 18.04.3 installation on this computer, on a WD5000, that
also uses TWM. The 27 second display does not happen. On that system,
I notice a difference in time for the very first execution of eog to the
next. The shared libs seem to have stayed loaded inbetween.

[Bug 1841614]

2019-08-27 Thread Alex Murray
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your
report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can
better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it.

Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For
help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally,
in the report please include:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System ->
About Ubuntu.
2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by
checking in Synaptic.
3) What happened and what you expected to happen.

The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide
variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures .
Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make
your bug report much more complete. Thanks!

[Bug 1840832] Re: Update to netplan.io 0.98 release

2019-08-27 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Mathieu, or anyone else affected,

Accepted netplan.io into disco-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/netplan.io/0.98-0ubuntu1~19.04.1 in
a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-disco to verification-done-disco. If it does not fix
the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag
to verification-failed-disco. In either case, without details of your
testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or
a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream
stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel:

   upstream stable patchset 2019-08-27

Ported from the following upstream stable releases:
v4.19.64, v5.2.6,
v4.19.65, v5.2.7

mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
