checkinstall may damage the whole system to a degree that it would not
boot anymore. Instead, a kernel panic occurs at every boot. Steps to
reproduce:
1. Install Ubuntu 19.04 in a VirtualBox.
2. Execute the attached script with sudo.

Building against pipewire fails with: invalid conversion from ‘void*’
So, I messed up the bisection earlier, probably due to not being careful
with the kernel configuration. The actual bad commit is
475fb4e8b2fd1d7b406ff3a7d21bc89a1e6f which makes a lot more sense.
I reported the problem upstream and a fix is in-process.

The pgo/lto change for arm64 is already in the 19.10 Ubuntu release of
python3 (3.7.4), so once the 3.7.5 version is released upstream, then
Debian will update to it, then Ubuntu 19.10 (or 20.04) will update to
it, then it will be backporte

I'm still seeing this issue on resume from sleep today on my updated
19.10 setup with gnome-shell 3.34.0-1ubuntu1.
