[Bug 1858319] Re: libvirt usb 3.1

2020-01-06 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Interesting, so it really isn't an apparmor deny as I first thought.

It seems to reset the device a lot and then give up after a while.

You are using 19.10 already, that should clearly be new enough for 3.1
support.

Unfortunately I have no 3.1 device nor a Hub (only 3.0 devs around me) to test
this on my own.
I'll ask a few friends, until then we might step by step try to get mroe debug
data from you until we spot something.

You could check out [2] and enable verbose libvirt logging. This often is
really verbose, but somewhere in between one can find an error like what
exactly on the USB attachment might fail.
Attach the log that you generate here and maybe also mention a timestamp when
you tried to attach the device so it can be found more easily in the log.

P.S. It might also be worth to report it to the libvirt ML [1], quite often one
recognizes the case or knows a fix already. If you happen to do so, leaving me
a link here so everyone casn follow would be nice.

P.P.S. there will in a few weeks be the new qemu/libvirt versions that are
coming for 20.04 - would you be willing and able to test those as well or would
that put your main system in a unstable state (20.04 is in development still)?

samba itself is not in the list of packages that we are committed to
keeping. It is in the seed as a build-dependency of vlc (the full
dependency chain is: samba <- vlc <- efl <- dbus-c++ <- libffado <-
jack-audo-connection-kit <- pulseaudio).

The guiding principle is that we should keep whatever (build-)dependency
trees that are required to support the packages which are mandatory to keep,
as long as these dependencies are reasonable to maintain, while introducing
delta on a minimum number of packages, and without unreasonably diminishing
the functionality of the compatibility library packages.

pandoc is not supportable because it's haskell, so must be cut.

rdma-core is uninteresting on i386 and has a single reverse-dependency
(ceph) so can be cut.

ceph is uninteresting on i386 and has a single reverse-dependency (samba) so
can be cut.

samba is in the seed because of vlc, but it also has gvfs-backends as an
unseeded binary dependency. So dropping samba would require changing two
source packages instead of one. Therefore I recommend keeping samba in and
changing it to not pull in ceph on i386.

Once samba has been updated to drop the build-dependency on ceph for i386,
ceph will be (more or less) automatically removed.

Thanks Po-Hsu Lin for looking into this.
I'll just remove the duplicate info, just to be able to update the status here

again as duplicate.
(of course unusual steps, but it's just to overcome a limitation in the

[Bug 1857383] Re: Fractional scaling does not work anymore

2020-01-06 Thread Alex Marc
Hi Daniel,

I verified from begining that i have Xorg and i enabeld from the
begining only for Xorg by using information from this tutorial:

http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2019/10/how-to-enable-fractional-
scaling-in-ubuntu-19-10-eoan/

Using dconf and also using the terminal command afterwards.( I have
attached printscreen with the settings from dconf).

Also it was strange that after i came back from holiday it worked fine
home ( 1x4k (150%scale) + 1xFHD + laptop), then at work i tried to scale
the laptop display to 125% ( 2xFHD + laptop display) and had the issue
again ... so it is random.

[Bug 1857307] Re: Wireless wouldn't turn on.

2020-01-06 Thread You-Sheng Yang
Hi, I've tried to find out the meanings of all the WMI entries you have,
but none seems to be related.

I heard it's possible that maybe WiFi has to be enabled under Windows in
this case. Something I would try as the last chance.

I've been thinking about this, and I think this could be dealt with by changing
the Depends: for mumble-server as such:

Depends: libqt5sql5-sqlite|libqt5sql5-mysql

Because users need one or the other, but mumble-server does not depend on both
at the same time. This would give users of mysql the ability to install
mumble-server without needing to install sqlite, and likewise would allow users
of sqlite to install mumble-server without having to install mysql.

By default mumble-server installs and is used with sqlite, so I'll want to test
a package with the above Depends: change to see what the behavior is when
installing the mysql-server package on a system that has never had it installed;
the desired behavior would be for apt to install libqt5sql5-sqlite by default
and have libqt5sql5-mysql as another option the user could choose manually.

Another option would be to keep Depends: libqt5sql5-sqlite as-is and then add a
Suggests: libqt5sql5-mysql for mumble-server.

[Bug 1858593] [NEW] Brisk crashes spontaneously when invoked

2020-01-06 Thread thom
Public bug reported:

This only happens when brisk is immediately invoked just after closing a qt/kde
application.

Waiting a few seconds between closing a qt/kde application and invoking
brisk won't trigger the crash.

This happened with every brisk version (since the first version of
brisk) on my desktop (AMD Phenom II x4 965BE). It doesn't happen on my
laptop (Intel N4200).
