[Bug 1769221] Re: switching user fails

2020-02-15 Thread SunBear
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1766137 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1766137

On several occasions, when I click on "Switch User" I would be directed
to a black screen with a mouse cursor where the mouse cursor may work in
a very lagging manner and nothing else seems to work(no keyboard
response). To get out of this situation, I needed to manually power off
my system and power it up again to boot the system up again. This
recovery procedure is bad for my system.

Sometimes this bad situation happens and sometimes I would successfully
be directed to the login screen to switch users successfully.

Any idea what is causing this issue or how I can fix this issue?

[Update:] On my next bootup, I re-tried using the "Switch User" button.
I got the same black screen and mouse cursor. But this time around, the
default Ubuntu screensaver or screen shield appeared ( after several
seconds of delay) instead of the background that I had set previously.
After pressing any keyboard key, the screen shield goes away and the
Login screen appears. I am able to login as myself or as another user.

It was mentioned here that this situation is a duplicate of bug #1766137
and in that report a fixed had already been issued. But I still
encounter this issue. There I like to reopen this issue.

[Bug 1863449] Re: upgrade 19.04 to 19.10 - problem with repo - cannot upgrade

2020-02-15 Thread Juhani Numminen
Could you try again, but before the upgrade, disable disco-proposed by
adding a # character in the last line of /etc/apt/sources.list.

(Reason for my recommendation: The log files show problems with libc6
and libudev1, which have different versions in eoan-proposed than eoan.)

[Bug 1863455] [NEW] USB system (mouse and keybord) are not working since kernel update to 5.3.0-26 and 5.3.0-28

2020-02-15 Thread PhilX
Public bug reported:

Since the kernel update to 5.3.0-26 it is not possible to use Ubuntu. Keyboard
and mouse (both connected via USB) are not working. It looks like everything is
frozen, but also ALT+PRINT REISUB is not working, so I guess the new kernel
version has problems with the USB system. If I choose in GRUB an older kernel
version (e.g. 5.0.0-37) everything is fine.
Same problem with kernel 5.3.0-28.

2020-02-15 Thread Problem
This solved my problem - through SSL Labs I was getting B with all the
attempts in putting anything - as soon as I updated the options-ssl-

Brad you are awesome and I think all the commentators below and above
should try this out before disqualifying it... I have Apache 2.18 for
anyone interested latest version and still was a problem.

well not anymore.

You may need the user info for the actual user name that is being used
to search that work group. I would recommend using the path or query
component instead:

smb://userwg;user:password@/browsed_workgroup
smb://userwg;user:password@/?=search=browsed_workgroup

This searches the workgroup named "browsed_workgroup" with the user
"userwg\user".

The query has the added benefit a server inside the workgroup is a
proper sub-URL:

smb://userwg;user:password@server/share/folder/file.txt?search=browsed_workgroup

That is,

  QUrl wg("smb://user@/?search=WG");
  QUrl relative("/share/folder/file.txt");
  qDebug() << wg.resolved(relative);  //
"smb://user@/share/folder/file.txt?search=WG"

[Bug 340106]

2020-02-15 Thread Thiago Macieira
QUrl's behaviour is intentional. The hostname component of the URL has
to be a valid hostname.

Do not store anything in that component that is not a hostname. Like a
workgroup name. Store that elsewhere.

[Bug 340106]

2020-02-15 Thread Harald Sitter
Thanks.

With that in mind we cannot really support spaces while also following
the smb URI format [1]. I suppose we'll just have to deviate a bit iff
the workgroup name contains a space by using a variant of the notation
that stuffs the workgroup into the userinfo `smb://work group;@/` and
then translate that back to an smb URI for libsmbclient again. Means the
urls wont be portable but at least navigation within our tech works.

[Bug 1742193] Re: nemo-desktop does not show background on GNOME FlashBack session

2020-02-15 Thread Uriel Tunn
Thanks @Norbert. Confirming this bug is still present in the latest
18.04 release and your workaround still fixes it.

Actually spent many hours trying to do this "properly," both directly
and by searching. Nothing worked and found no solution.

Two thoughts:
- The key seems to be modifying the Nautilus shortcut to call Nemo instead.

- This is the last bit of integration needed FWICT; seems so simple
can't believe it's not done yet!

Sad the Nautilus team gutted it back when Unity was coming on. It was
the very best file manager in the Linux world IMO. Still is, but under
the Nemo banner (albeit lacking the dual location bars in dual pane
mode). Very grateful to the Nemo team for carrying it forward.

Would very much like to see Nemo adopted by Gnome, eliminate these
workarounds.

[Bug 1863447] [NEW] openssh outdated by 8.2

2020-02-15 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

Hi,

yeah, it's not yet a bug, but it will become a (security) bug within
lifetime of 20.04 if not 'fixed'.

Currently openssh for Ubuntu 20.04 is still on 8.1p1, while upstream the
version 8.2 has just been released:

https://lists.mindrot.org/pipermail/openssh-unix-
announce/2020-February/000138.html

It comes with important security updates, e.g. not accepting SHA-1 for
key generation/signature anymore, and using FIDO2/U2F-tokens as a second
factor. Especially the latter significantly improves security and helps
against stealing keys and hijacking machines.

It would be important (and nice) to have these improvements of security
in Ubuntu 20.04.

It might not yet be seen as a security vulnerability, but it will probably
become one soon.

Thanks

The same failures occurs in both, meaning the failure isn't introduce by

[Bug 1860217] Re: dpkg-reconfigure clamav-daemon in infinite loop

2020-02-15 Thread Eric Desrochers
autopkgtest have been test with both the current SRU'd package and
curren SRU'd package -1:

https://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/packages/pg-snakeoil/eoan/amd64

The same failures occurs in both, meaning the failure isn't introduce by
this particular SRU.

It looks like a test output mismatch against the expected test output.

[Bug 1862830] Re: Update sosreport to 3.9

2020-02-15 Thread Eric Desrochers
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

  sosreport 3.9 is now released.

It would be great to find sosreport v3.9 in supported stable releases,
and active development release considering the fact that the releasea
(especially LTSes) are going to be supported for a couple of years
  still.

Sosreport is widely use by Canonical support team to troubleshoot UA
(Ubuntu Advantage) customer, other vendors and community users.

Just like we did for :
  - v3.5 (LP: #1734983)
  - v3.6 (LP: #1775195)

  [Test Case]

  * Install sosreport
  * Test the new upload functionality (--upload)
  * Test new --all-logs behaviour
+ * Make sure the new naming pattern doesn't break any current Canonical
mechanism (Brickftp scripts, ...). If yes evaluate if easy fixable before
considering reverting back to 'legacy' pattern.
  * Run sosreport in different customer scenarios:
server, desktop, cloud, hypervisor, instance (container, vm), physical
server, ...
  * Extract archive and look at the content, look for 0 size file (and use
common sense if legit or not)
  * Look under "sos_reports" and "sos_logs" for warnings/errors

  [Regression Potential]

Sosreport has 292 plugins that are all configured differently and
configured to run under certains conditions. We can't test all possible
scenarios. All we can do is idenfity the most common, important and
Ubuntu/Canonical related one and test them (e.g. Openstack*, juju, MAAS,
kernel, ...) . With that being said, it is definitely possible that
certains plugins may not work as expected, but the risk will be very low
(e.g not collecting the desired informations) and isolated to this
specific plugin. It shouldn't affect the other plugins nor core
  functionnalities of sosreport.

  [Other Informations]

  * Release note:
  https://github.com/sosreport/sos/releases/tag/3.9

  [Original Description]

A new version of sosreport upstream (v3.9) will be released soon.
This bug is to track activities to update sosreport in Ubuntu stable + Active
Devel release.

[Bug 1862938] Re: Enable late loading of microcode by default

2020-02-15 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
I'm trying to fix the case when users/manufacturers failed to
provide/install uefi capsule update on the motherboard, failed to first-
boot with up to date microcode, and thus remain unsecured, whilst one
can install microcode. In bare-metal cloud context, late loading of
microcode can be done as the line of last defence to apply microcode.

Build-Depends-Indep:

 doxygen [amd64 arm64 armel armhf mips64el mipsel ppc64el ppc64 s390x x32],

[Bug 1854326] Re: [UBUNTU] - glibc: z15 (s390x) strstr implementation can return incorrect result if search string cross page boundary

2020-02-15 Thread jscm
I have no problem on my ubuntu installation.

But this file with another one (or more) of GNU C are still not ready to
be updated.

I am waiting for days now. This situation begins to worry.

I hope to see every problem solved soon.
