[Bug 1867569] Re: lentitud al cargar interfaz grafica

2020-03-15 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This package failure looks like it was caused by bad ISO download,
corrupted install media, or device failure. eg. look in the logs and
you'll see messages like these :-

Mar 16 02:21:46 ubuntu kernel: [ 241.790650] SQUASHFS error: zlib
decompression failed, data probably corrupt
Mar 16 02:21:46 ubuntu kernel: [  241.790656] SQUASHFS error:
squashfs_read_data failed to read block 0x3292118

Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be
a useful bug report so I am closing it, as it appears to be a bad ISO or
faulty device (inc. bad write-to-device). If you believe I'm in error,
please leave a comment explaining why and change the status back to
'New'. I suggest you verify your ISO download, and use the 'check disc
for defects' option to validate your media before install to ensure a
good download & write.

Possibly useful : https://tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutorial/tutorial-how-to-
verify-ubuntu#0 and
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/CDIntegrityCheck  (where
CD refers to your install media, be it CD, DVD, HDD, SSD, thumb-drive
etc)

[Bug 1867573] Re: crash in log of cloned Pro instance: uaclient.exceptions.AlreadyAttachedError:

2020-03-15 Thread Christian Reis
Actually, the packer copy does seem to preserve product codes:

ubuntu@ip-172-31-29-146:~$ curl -s
http://169.254.169.254/latest/dynamic/instance-identity/document
[...]
  "marketplaceProductCodes" : [ "ex9l8qw4x21426rsfg7am8gym" ],
[...]
}

So we have two bugs; I'll file the other one if we don't have one yet.

[Bug 1867539] Re: pulseaudio bridge cause mass Xruns, even there is no output/input

2020-03-15 Thread Erich Eickmeyer
We believe you are indeed having the problem. I just tested on a clean
install myself and using the same settings you did, I was unable to
reproduce the issue. Therefore, there might be some incompatible
hardware on your end. Remember, not all hardware is 100% compatible with
Linux.

Since the problem cannot be reproduced by myself or by Len (and we have
completely different hardware) it is therefore *not* a bug and therefore
this is a support request that should be on askubuntu.com, not a bug
tracker. Hence, it's closed as "Invalid" which, in Launchpad, is defined
as "Not a bug. May be a support request or spam." This is clearly not
spam, therefore it's a support request.

Please present your issue on askubuntu.com tagging "ubuntu-studio",
"jack" and "alsa". Perhaps someone there will have an idea what is going
on. Either way, this discussion does not belong on a bug tracker.

[Bug 1867573] [NEW] crash in log of cloned Pro instance: uaclient.exceptions.AlreadyAttachedError:

2020-03-15 Thread Christian Reis
Public bug reported:

I used Packer to create my own version of an Ubuntu Pro instance. When
it comes up, it's not associated with a subscription (based on the
output of ua status) and the log reports a crash, with foo and bar below
replaced with identifiers:

2020-03-16 04:12:37,179 - cli.py:(594) [ERROR]: This machine is already
attached to 'foo'
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/uaclient/cli.py", line 576, in wrapper

  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/uaclient/cli.py", line 616, in main

  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/uaclient/cli.py", line 88, in new_f
raise exceptions.AlreadyAttachedError(cfg)
uaclient.exceptions.AlreadyAttachedError:

The packer copy probably doesn't preserve product codes, so I'm not
complaining about the lack of subscription, but we should report a more
understandable error message.

[Bug 1867572] [NEW] bumblee is not installable with 18.04 HWE due to versioned depends on a provided package

2020-03-15 Thread Chris Cheney
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 18.04 with HWE
bumblebee 3.2.1-17

This makes laptops with hybrid graphics not work well.

===

bumblebee depends on a versioned xserver-xorg-core package

Depends: bbswitch-dkms | bbswitch-source, lsb-base (>= 3.0-6), xserver-
xorg-core (>= 2:1.18), libbsd0 (>= 0.2.0), libc6 (>= 2.15), libglib2.0-0
(>= 2.12.0), libkmod2 (>= 5~), libx11-6

===

HWE 18.04 uses a different package name for xserver-xorg-core ->
xserver-xorg-core-hwe-18.04

Provides: xorg-input-abi-24, xorg-renamed-package, xorg-renamed-package-
hwe-18.04, xorg-video-abi-24, xserver-xorg-core, xserver-xorg-video-
modesetting

===

apt/dpkg does not handle version depends on virtual/provide packages so
can't be installed.

===

So trying to install bumblebee while HWE is installed does not work:

# apt install bumblebee
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 bumblebee : Depends: xserver-xorg-core (>= 2:1.18)

[Bug 1866194] Re: After connecting a Bluetooth headset or speaker, it shows up in the sound output options but the sound keeps being emitted from the internal laptop speaker

2020-03-15 Thread Pierre Equoy
Thanks a lot for the input, Ken!

You were right, it is not related to BT, but to the sound devices being
added and removed.

I happend to have a Zoom microphone that can be connected as USB and
creates a new audio interface (both input and output). Here are my new
tests and findings:

1. Plug the Zoom USB device
-> it appears in the Sound Settings Output Device and is automatically selected
2. Press Test and check the sound output
-> the sound outputs on the internal speakers (NOK)

After some investigation using pactl, I found how to fix the issue, for
both the USB audio interface and the Bluetooth speaker:

1. Make sure the audio interface you want is connected (in my case, I
connected both the USB and the Bluetooth speaker):

$ pactl list short sinks
1   alsa_output.pci-_00_1f.3.analog-stereo  module-alsa-card.c
s16le 2ch 48000Hz   SUSPENDED
6   alsa_output.usb-ZOOM_Corporation_H2n_-00.iec958-stereo
module-alsa-card.c  s16le 2ch 44100Hz   SUSPENDED
7   bluez_sink.88_C6_26_1A_9E_AF.a2dp_sink  module-bluez5-device.c  s16le
2ch 44100Hz   SUSPENDED

2. Play an audio stream, for instance a Youtube video. The output should
come from the internal speakers, and can be seen in pactl as well:

$ pactl list short sink-inputs
10  1   16  protocol-native.c   float32le 2ch 44100Hz

3. Ask pactl to move the stream to the desired sink (output); for
instance, the Bluetooth speaker:

$ pactl move-sink-input 10 7

-> The sound outputs to the Bluetooth device! \o/

However, going back to Sound Settings (where the "Output Device" shows
my Bluetooth Speaker) and clicking Test still outputs to the internal
speakers

Do you think it could be a GNOME issue? What should I do next?

** Summary changed:

- After connecting a Bluetooth headset or speaker, it shows up in the sound
output options but the sound keeps being emitted from the internal laptop
speaker
+ After connecting an external output device (USB audio interface, Bluetooth
speaker...), it shows up in the sound output options but the sound keeps being
emitted from the internal laptop speaker

[Bug 1864787] Re: Lubuntu failed install "sfdisk --force --append /dev/sda"

2020-03-15 Thread MarkF
I encountered this today on two machines.[1] In both cases I was trying
to install 20.04 Lubuntu daily image using the "alongside" option. In
both cases it failed with the error msg reported for this bug. But, when
I restarted the installer, it showed the existing partition resized, and
a new partition present. I chose "replace partition" and ended up
getting what I was wanting to get from "alongside."

One machine is bios only. The other is "legacy." Both disks were MBR.
The first one had two existing partitions which I wanted to install
alongside. The other had one existing partition. (Both are 500g drives
with at least 90% freespace in the existing partitions.).

[Bug 1838151] Re: Poor quality audio with modern Bluetooth headsets in HSP/HFP. Missing wide band speech support.

2020-03-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Some recent commits in BlueZ 5.54 suggest wide band support is being
prepared starting in kernel 5.6:

  https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/bluetooth/bluez.git

Unfortunately both that kernel and bluez version seem to be too new to
realistically make it into Ubuntu 20.04.

[Bug 1797734] Re: slow calculator startup

2020-03-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
That's a good case for keeping this bug logged here under gnome-
calculator. Maybe we should just drop the snap and default to the deb.
I'll assign this bug to ubuntu-meta for that...

Although to say something is not physically possible is just inviting
people to prove that statement wrong. It is technically true, but misses
the main goal of just being fast enough that people don't notice. That
is technically possible still.

[Bug 1867529] Re: UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0x85 in position 0: ordinal not in range(128) with PCA

2020-03-15 Thread Kenneth Loafman
OK, this bug has to be in the python3-swiftclient module. The real
problem is that Ubuntu is behind on versions. The latest version is
3.9.0 while the version in the snap is 3.5.0. Are you required to use
the snap version? If not you might want to try one of the installs
below.

* Stable tarball install - https://launchpad.net/duplicity/+download
* Daily duplicity builds -
https://launchpad.net/~duplicity-team/+archive/ubuntu/daily-dev-trunk
* Latest pip builds - “sudo pip install duplicity"

[Bug 1867555] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 reboot when shutdown

2020-03-15 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future
users from hitting the same bug. You seem to need support more than have
issues with a bug

I believe a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu (this bug report can be converted
to a question (which is aimed at support)). You can also find help with
your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:

* Is this reproducible?
* If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

Please also execute the following command only once, as it will
automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1867555

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

I'm going to mark this bug incomplete, as it appears as if you haven't
followed the normal support procedures first. If however you believe I'm
in error, please leave a comment with details and change the status back
to "New". You can also change the status back to "New" if you've
provided the requested information (reproducible? and steps to re-
produce, run apport-collect..).
