[Bug 1860761] Re: Dell XPS 13 - Bios upgrade not working - Always ask for power supply

2020-04-06 Thread Pierre-Antoine Champin
FTR, I tried as Daniel described, and it didn't work.

My configuration is slightly different, though:

* using Ubuntu 19.04
* my current firmware is 1.1.3

When I click on the update with AC plugged in, I get a "Software is up to date"
message,*
with no indication to reboot.
When I reboot, I see (very quickly) 4 lines at the top-left of the initial
"Dell" screen,
saying something about a firmware update found... Does not look like an error
message.

Still, after the reboot, the firmware is still 1.1.3 :-/

[Bug 1871296] [NEW] Activities not showing some files in search in overview

2020-04-06 Thread Cristiano Nunes
Public bug reported:

I am facing an issue with the new version of Gnome (3.36) in Ubuntu
20.04.

The problem is as follows:
I copied files inside home folder (e.g., documents, images, videos) and
subfolders, then waited for tracker to index, then do a search trough overview
and in Nautilus. The result: Nautilus shows all the files when searched, but
these files are not showed in Activities view (search in Activities).

I have checked that the respective tracker options are appropriately
configured. Also, this is happening (at least for me) only with Nautilus
3.36. I have not found this behavior with the previous 3.34.x version.

[Bug 1871295] [NEW] Live CD 20.04 don't set correct keyboard layout after ubiquity

2020-04-06 Thread Fábio Lima
Public bug reported:

When running 20.04 beta in live mode, after choosing language "Português do
Brasil" and choosing to try live cd without installation, the correct kayboard
layout (Brazil ABNT) is not set in the gnome desktop.
The screenshot attached (Captura de tela de 2020-04-07 05-14-23.png) shows the
top-right keyboard set is "pt1", where the correct would be "pt2" (Português
Brasil). You have to change manually in order to have your keyboard working as
intended when you chose "Português do Brasil" in the first screen.

When you do the proper installation, in the second screen, the correct
keyboard layout is chosen (Captura de tela de 2020-04-07 05-22-45.png).

2020-04-06 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. In an effort to keep an
up-to-date and valid list of bugs to work on, I have reviewed this report
to verify it still requires effort and occurs on an Ubuntu release in
standard support, and it does not.

It is unfortunate that we were unable to resolve this defect, however
there appears to be no further action possible at this time. I am
therefore moving the bug to 'Incomplete'. If you disagree or have
new information, we would be grateful if you could please add a comment

This has been topic of multiple discussions already and has been addressed

[Bug 985198] Re: Ldirectord "Subroutine main::pack_sockaddr_in6 redefined "

2020-04-06 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. In an effort to keep an
up-to-date and valid list of bugs to work on, I have reviewed this report
to verify it still requires effort and occurs on an Ubuntu release in
standard support, and it does not.

It is unfortunate that we were unable to resolve this defect, however
there appears to be no further action possible at this time. I am
therefore moving the bug to 'Incomplete'. If you disagree or have
new information, we would be grateful if you could please add a comment
stating why and then change the status of the bug to 'New'.

[Bug 1701513] Re: [LTCTest][Opal][FW910] ldirectord.service fails to start

2020-04-06 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

The reason for the failure seems to be:

Jun 30 03:38:03 zz376p1 ldirectord[5896]: Config file ldirectord.cf not found
Jun 30 03:38:03 zz376p1 systemd[1]: ldirectord.service: Control process exited,
code=exited status=1

And you can follow a small howto at:

https://wiki.clusterlabs.org/wiki/Using_ldirectord

Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem,
rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I am marking this bug as 'Won't fix'.

However, if you believe that this is really a bug in Ubuntu, then we would
be grateful if you would provide a more complete description of the problem
with steps to reproduce, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu
rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug
status back to "New".

i7-6650U CPU @ 2.20GHz × 4, 16GB RAM), intel graphics (Mesa Intel®
Iris(R) Graphics 540 (SKL GT3))

If fractional scaling is off, everything works as expected.
If fractional scaling slider is turned on; all scaling, screen positions lost
on reboot, logoff.

Integer scaling (100, 200, 300 etc) is persistent. No issues at all

[Bug 1871187] Re: Installation of Ubuntu 20.04 finished successfully except for grub

2020-04-06 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
This error is caused by a segfault of dpkg. This is the only occurrence
of this bug I found. Could you please run a memory test on your system
and try the installation again.

If it happens again, please check if there is a crash file in /var/crash/ and
upload it to launchpad with the command:
ubuntu-bug /var/crash/.crash

Thanks.

[Bug 1871268] Re: Clean Install first time

2020-04-06 Thread Pierre Equoy
Facing a crash that looks similar.

In ubiquity install.trace file, I can see:

apt_pkg.Error: E:Could not configure 'libc6:i386'. , E:Could not
perform immediate configuration on 'libgcc-s1:i386'. Please see man 5
apt.conf under APT::Immediate-Configure for details. (2)

Device: Dell Vostro 5590
Image: Focal 20.04 beta
Install: connected to the Internet (using an Ethernet cable)
Install options:
 - erase disk and install Ubuntu
 - use LVM partitioning
 - use encryption

I installed 20.04 a few weeks ago on the same device and didn't face
this issue.

Also, I tried booting in "safe graphics mode" for the install but it
didn't help.

[Bug 1863688] Re: tgt should support Persistent Reserve Out (5Fh) PREEMPT AND ABORT (05h) service

2020-04-06 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
I'm setting this as won't fix as we already have a MIR for targetcli-fb:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/targetcli-fb/+bug/1854362

So we can use LIO "by default" and in [main], replacing tgt.

That might hopefully happen in 20.10.

2020-04-06 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend
performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections and using software tools
to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not
in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to
New. Thanks and good luck!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you

[Bug 1536353] Re: [Regression] Epson's printer driver packages cannot be installed as lsb package is not available anymore

2020-04-06 Thread Rosendo Pablo
Thank you so much for this information, I have been googling and
searching the net for 2 weeks for an answer of my Epson L800, I couldn't
installed it in Sparkylinux 5, I added the Debian 9 repository and
charm.

One thing that I don't get it to work is the HubiC cloud, it keeps says
"Warning] Can not synchronise /home/qkeybil/Hubic/: Index was outside
the bounds of the array.. Will retry later.

If there is one out there to help, what is going on?

[Bug 49052] Re: no hfs+ journal write support by default (gets mounted as read only)

2020-04-06 Thread James Cuzella
Still seems to be an issue in modern Ubuntu 18.04.4 bionic LTS. The
upstream Apple source for HFS+ projects can be found here:

https://opensource.apple.com/source/hfs/
https://opensource.apple.com/source/diskdev_cmds/

Debian package for hfsprogs seems woefully out of date (based on macOS
10.4 diskdev_cmds from ~6 years ago)

2020-04-06 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Can you please attach a photo showing where your HDMI cable is plugged
into the computer?

As far as I can tell, if it's plugged into the motherboard then this
would not be a bug. It looks like that model of motherboard does not
support 4K at 60Hz, but is limited to 24Hz or 30Hz.

[Bug 1870184] Re: Snap store not showing ubuntu repository apt apps inthe store

2020-04-06 Thread Pierre Equoy
Installed focal fossa beta this morning on a XPS 13 (9300), and facing
the same issue.

The first thing I usually do is to install GNOME Tweaks, and this
doesn't show in Snap Store.

Tried snap-store rev336 (installed by default) and rev344 (from edge
channel): same result.

[Bug 1507170] Re: hfsprogs in Ubuntu is very old (2009 release), please update to latest 576 release

2020-04-06 Thread James Cuzella
PING! Any plans for movement on updating this package?

Is this package mainly imported from upstream (Debian) ?

How can I verify which version of the "diskdev_cmds" project is used on
modern macOS?

Current macOS version 10.15.4 has binary "fsck_hfs" from
"hfs-522.100.5".

As evidenced by:

strings $(which fsck_hfs ) | grep PROJECT:
@(#)PROGRAM:fsck_hfs PROJECT:hfs-522.100.5

However, I'm only seeing up to version 522.0.9 here:
https://opensource.apple.com/source/hfs/

It sounds like this particular set of tools, fsck.hfs[plus] &
mkfs.hfs[plus], were sourced originally from diskdev_cmds project (
https://opensource.apple.com/source/diskdev_cmds/ ).

I'm a bit confused as to whether current Apple macOS even uses the
"diskdev_cmds" project at all. Searching their binaries for
"PROJECT:diskdev_cmds" yields no results:

OLDIFS="$IFS";  IFS=':';  for p in $PATH; do sudo find "$p" -type f -print0
| sudo xargs -0 strings | grep PROJECT: ; done | sort | uniq | grep -i
diskdev ; IFS="$OLDIFS"
# No results!
# Tip: taking off the last '| grep -i diskdev' command from the pipe shows
*all* current project versions of macOS command line utilities ;-)

[Bug 1871281] [NEW] Latest snap channel not showing

2020-04-06 Thread Robert Ancell
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
Due to a code change for channel names in snapd gnome-software in bionic
doesn't show versions in the 'latest/*' channels. Solution is to backport
changes that always use the full name for channels to avoid this problem.
Noticed in https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/track-request-v6-for-postman/13425/9

[Test Case]
1. Open GNOME Software
2. Search for the 'postman' snap

Expected result:
latest/stable channel shown with version like 7.21.1

Observed result:
No version shown in for latest/* channels.

[Regression potential]
Risk of introducing new bugs in relation to channels.
