[Bug 1770124] Re: Smartlist with Postifix broken in 18.04 LTS works in 17.10

2020-04-20 Thread Robert Dinse
This can be closed, this turned out to be a permissions problem. I had
both Ubuntu and Centos mail servers, ubuntu wants the list files to have
a group of "list", and Centos "smartlst". I had them NFS mounted across
several servers. It was the different OS's fighting over what GID these
files should be that caused the problem. I moved the last CentOS server
to Ubuntu, set the group ID's to "list", and now everything is good.
This bug can be closed.

[Bug 1873748] Re: Simple Scan stops working after upgrade to 20.04

2020-04-20 Thread Robert Dinse
It turns out this was the same issue as bug #1871011. I not only stopped the
ippusbxd on this bus and port, but also disabled and masked it so that this
would stay stopped across reboots. All is
good now.

[Bug 1873997] Re: sound, network, partition mounting and shutdown dialog not working

2020-04-20 Thread Yousuf 'Jay' Philips
This instance seems to happen with these steps
1. start live session with nvidia discrete graphics disabled in bios
2. shutdown system
3. start up system, go to bios and enable nvidia descrete graphics and start
live session
4. shutdown system
5. start live session

then this issue seems to popup

when it does, sometimes brisk menu crashes (bug 1874002) and sometimes
there isn't access to the network, though they are listed (bug 1874003)

[Bug 1873999] Re: Failed to install with todays daily

2020-04-20 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This package failure looks like it was caused by bad ISO download,
corrupted install media, or device failure. eg. look in the logs and
you'll see messages like these :-

Apr 21 05:11:13 ubuntu kernel: [ 421.799625] SQUASHFS error: zlib
decompression failed, data probably corrupt
Apr 21 05:11:13 ubuntu kernel: [ 421.799627] SQUASHFS error:
squashfs_read_data failed to read block 0x358cd78c

Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be
a useful bug report so I am closing it, as it appears to be a bad ISO or
faulty device (inc. bad write-to-device). If you believe I'm in error,
please leave a comment explaining why and change the status back to
'New'. I suggest you verify your ISO download, and use the 'check disc
for defects' option to validate your media before install to ensure a
good download & write.

[Bug 1873998] [NEW] atril-thumbnailer fails to create .cbr thumbnails

2020-04-20 Thread MMarking via ubuntu-bugs
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 19.10. atril-thumbnailer fails to generate thumbnails for .cbr
files even though cbr's mimetypes are listed in the
/usr/share/thumbnailers/atril.thumbnailer file.

Attempting to generate .cbr thumbnails manually works:

$ atril-thumbnailer -s 32 input.cbr output

I think these problems might be related to this but I'm not sure:

[Bug 1873997] [NEW] sound, network, partition mounting and shutdown dialog not working

2020-04-20 Thread Yousuf 'Jay' Philips
Public bug reported:

Was running Ubuntu Mate 20.04 2020-04-20 ISO's live session and it
loaded up with what seems to be insufficient permissions, which cause
everything not to work correctly. Logging out and logging back in does
solve the sound, mounting and shutdown dialog, but networking still
wasnt available.

[Bug 1871849] Re: Firefox does not properly play full screen videos using fractional scale at 125%

2020-04-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The problem with OBS is a different issue, and possibly not a bug at
all. It's probably not realistic to modify all screen recording apps to
understand Ubuntu's Xrandr scaling feature. If you would like to discuss
it further then please open a new bug by running:

[Bug 1873994] [NEW] Please remove mplayer-fonts from Ubuntu

2020-04-20 Thread Logan Rosen
Public bug reported:

Ancient Ubuntu-only package that hasn't been touched since 2004. No
rdeps and FTBFS on rebuild. I don't think it's very relevant anymore
because mplayer is compiled with fontconfig support, so you can just
choose your favorite font when playing a video.

[Bug 1873943] Re: Screen doesnt suspend/lock

2020-04-20 Thread handsome_feng
Hi, Do you enable the screensaver? you can do it by:

ukui-control-center -> personalized -> screensaver -> Turn on "Enable
screensaver" and "Lock screen when screensaver boot"

and "sleep time" in "power" starts counting after the lock screen takes
effect.

[Bug 1873989] [NEW] Please remove wallpaper from Ubuntu

2020-04-20 Thread Logan Rosen
Public bug reported:

Ancient Ubuntu-only package with no rdeps that FTBFS on rebuild. No new
upstream release since 2002 (https://www.cgarbs.de/stuff.en.html).
Appears to just check if a given image(s) can be used as wallpaper -
doesn't seem to merit inclusion as a package to me (the Bash script is
available on the developer's site if people want it).

[Bug 1860830] Re: Geolocation not working − the Google maps API always returns error codes

2020-04-20 Thread Rafael Romero
75.0 (64-bit) Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu - Canonical 1.0 here.
Geolocation not working, it did work in 74.0 but had not worked in 73.0.
API key present (AIzaSyAeBu...4qR5UXs), but gets a Status Code 429: No
Reason Phrase error. IP/port contacted is 172.217.14.234:443.

geo.wifi.uri =
https://www.googleapis.com/geolocation/v1/geolocate?key=%GOOGLE_API_KEY%

Doesn't work with Mozilla's uri either:
https://location.services.mozilla.com/v1/geolocate?key=%MOZILLA_API_KEY%

in the latter case the IP/port contacted is 172.217.3.170:443

The error reported is the same: Status Code 429: No Reason Phrase. I
know a 429 is usually a "too many requests" so my guess is that the API
key is exceeding some max limit, and must be shared by all of us using
Firefox on Ubuntu.

Regular Firefox versions work fine, Chronmium & Chrome work fine, and
everything works fine on other OSs, so at this point it's the Canonical-
modified Firefox version on Linux only --the one for many reason I must
use every day.

[Bug 1871717] Re: spinner theme, sometimes does not render splash without output

2020-04-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Yes plymouth is racey by design, which may be part of the problem. That
race involves waiting for 8 seconds for kernel DRM devices to appear and
if they don't appear in that time then they won't be used. Even if other
more basic kernel graphics devices do exist (like that used by the
BIOS). That issue is most recently being discussed in:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/plymouth/plymouth/-/issues/103 although
the underlying problem is not Nvidia-specific.

But it's unclear to me if that's the original problem here so I would
still wait for Dimitri to answer comment #6.

2020-04-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
No mutter is not used in Kubuntu as far as I know.

I was wondering about that. If you can reproduce the bug without Mutter being
involved then obviously it shouldn't be assigned to Mutter. I will shotgun a
few related projects... They might not all be to blame but at least other
people will be able to find the bug and avoid logging duplicates.

[Bug 1873369] Re: Python2 virtualenv installs broken pip command

2020-04-20 Thread Dean Wheatley
This affects running of Android Open Source Project (AOSP) Vendor Test
Suite (VTS) on Ubuntu 20.04.

$ virtualenv --version
virtualenv 20.0.13 from /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/virtualenv/__init__.py

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=956148 mentions steps
like:

[sudo] apt install python3-pip python3-virtualenv \p
pip3 install ipaddr \p
[sudo] cp $WHEEL_LOCATION/ipaddr-2.2.0-py2.py3-none-any.whl
/usr/share/python-wheels/ \p
[sudo] apt install python2.7 \p

In my environment:

$ pip3 install ipaddr
Requirement already satisfied: ipaddr in
/home/dwhea/.local/lib/python3.8/site-packages (2.2.0)

There isn't a ipaddr-2.2.0-py2.py3-none-any.whl file on my system.

Hoping for this to be fixed "out of the box".
