[Bug 1575053] Re: Please move the "$HOME/snap" directory to a less obtrusive location
@niemeyer Your tone suggests that you do not understand why this seemingly small issue is so important to many people. It is NOT just esthetics, or rigid ideology. Others have mentioned issues with mounts and disk space. Or imagine having a script which follows the XDG spec, for backing up or syncing one's personal data or something similar. When Snap, which is now built into Ubuntu, comes out of nowhere and dumps large quantities of data, that will certainly require rewriting the script and may even have cost money if you were on a metered connection. This is wny, yes, I literally preferred purging Snap and resorting to jiggery-pokery by pinning a Debian APT repo just to get Chromium. So my comment was really in response to a remark by @stolowski that "our hands are full with other features, and of higher priority". Tell us at least, are there any other bugs that have as many users whining as this one? Perhaps the actual users should have a little more say in deciding priority. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575053 Title: Please move the "$HOME/snap" directory to a less obtrusive location To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapd/+bug/1575053/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

To reproduce: * Flash a current bionic image (e.g. http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/bionic/release/ubuntu-18.04.4-preinstalled-server-arm64+raspi4.img.xz) * Boot the card on an older Pi model (3, 4 rev 1.2, etc.) * sudo add-apt-repository ppa:waveform/firmware * sudo apt install linux-firmware-raspi2 (the rev 1.4 requires a newer firmware package to boot; this PPA contains a test package with a back-ported firmware) * Boot the card on a Pi 4 rev 1.4 * Observe USB2 and USB3 ports do not work * Boot the card on an older Pi 4 rev 1.2 * Observe USB2 and USB3 ports do work ** Changed in: linux-raspi2 (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1887156 Title: USB ports not working on the Pi 4 rev 1.4 board To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-raspi2/+bug/1887156/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1885346] Re: gnome-shell-calendar-server leaks GBs of memory every few days
Sorry, I also have a lot of ram and a lack of urgency! The bug is fixed in Gnome's repo (via a backport of a larger changeset, not my fix), but a release hasn't been made yet. [Bug 1876894] Re: Scaling is not reverted properly (appears shrunk) when disabling fractional scaling
** Description changed: * Impact Scaling is not reverted properly (appears shrunk) when disabling fractional scaling - * Test Case Do this in an Ubuntu/Xorg session: 0. Be on a "clean" system wrt. fractional scaling, i.e. disabled & scaling at 100% 1. Open gnome-control-center → displays 2. Turn on fractional scaling 3. Select 125% 4. Press apply (the scaling should correctly change now) 5. Turn off fractional scaling by changing the toggle Now everything is shrunk - it's not been returned to 100% properly. See the attached screenshot where the text is tiny instead of regular 100% size. If you do this instead of step 5: 5. Select 100% scaling 7. Press apply 8. Turn off fractional scaling by changing the toggle Then everything returns to the normal size. + Repeat the same selecting 200% at 5., (or 100% if 200% was your default) + and ensure it's applied. + I'm on nvidia(-440), but Séb said that he saw this on his Intel machine too. - * Regression potential Verify that scaling changes are correctly applied on different setup - - ProblemType: Bug - DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 + ProblemType: BugDistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 Package: mutter 3.36.1-3ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.4.0-28.32-generic 5.4.30 Uname: Linux 5.4.0-28-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: zfs zunicode zavl icp zcommon znvpair nvidia_modeset nvidia ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: skip CurrentDesktop: GNOME Date: Tue May 5 10:57:40 2020 InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-10-07 (2766 days ago) - InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.10 "Quantal Quetzal" - Beta amd64 (20121007) - SourcePackage: mutter + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.10 "Quantal Quetzal" - Beta amd64 (20121007)SourcePackage: mutter UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to focal on 2020-01-16 (109 days ago) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1876894 Title: Scaling is not reverted properly (appears shrunk) when disabling fractional scaling To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1876894/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1887202] Re: Resume from suspend freeze
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ulyana ** Description changed: I am running Linux Mint 20 because Linux Mint 19.3 with Kernels 5.4.0-40 and 4.15.0-109 would cause a freeze when resuming from suspend. Kernel 5.0.0-32 would resume from suspend perfectly with the following behaviour: if screen was black a quick press of the space key would give me my desktop but the mouse pointer would not move for a few seconds until the wireless or ethernet notification came up, at which point the pointer would move with the touchpad input and wi-fi or ethernet would connect and I would be on my way. When it freezes the networking notification never appears and I am stuck with either a black screen or desktop with frozen mouse pointer. No keyboard inputs are accepted but my volume hard buttons react so something is still alive on my laptop. A hard shutdown with the power button is required to recover. The only difference between failure and success is the different kernels, all graphics, wi-fi and sound drivers are the same. The upgrade to Linux Mint 20 did not help because it uses the 5.4.0-40 kernel. It appears the hang is after the graphics come up but there appears to be a problem with the hand-off to the mouse or network drivers during resume. I am stuck on 5.0.0-32 even though it is end of life. Here is my system report. Network wi-fi drivers b43-pci-bridge and wl both fail with 5.4 and 4.15 and both work with 5.0 so I believe it is not the drivers. [Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%
I've updated the package in the PPA mentioned at [1], so feel free to test the packages again. These should not fix the problem for mobile cards, as those seems to have another problem at modesetting driver level, it seems. For others, the issue seems to be related more to screen sizes that mutter sets, and the packages should address that, but not sure if that's valid for all the cards.
