[Bug 1885424] Re: Create package for Thor 1.0.1

2020-07-24 Thread Richard Viney
Ran into this today when trying an Ubuntu 20.04 upgrade on a Rails app.

FWIW I added `gem 'thor', '~> 0.20.3'` to the Rails app's `gems.rb` (aka
`Gemfile`) in order to make it go away.

[Bug 1888715] Re: UDP data corruption caused by buggy udp_recvmsg() -> skb_copy_and_csum_datagram_msg()

2020-07-24 Thread Seth Arnold
Hello Dexuan, wonderful, thanks;

Eric's proposed patch confuses me on one point:

-   if (rcu_access_pointer(sk->sk_filter) &&
-   udp_lib_checksum_complete(skb))
+   if (udp_lib_checksum_complete(skb))
goto csum_error;

Do you know why the rcu_access_pointer() call has been removed?

Thanks

Description of problem:

starting Chromium 79 (and also google-chrome-stable 79) through a ssh
tunnel gives a blank (white) window. Actually it is possible to click on
some buttons if one is able to locate them with the mouse without seeing
them.

By Clicking on "Chromium Web Browser" in the top bar of the screen, it
is possible to open a new window which is visible, but the window has
not loaded any personal configuration (bookmarks, extensions etc.)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
chromium-79.0.3945.79-1.fc31.x86_64

How reproducible: always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. ssh -X -f user@host "/usr/bin/chromium-browser"
2. a blank (white) window opens
3. click on "Chromium Web Browser" in the top bar of the screen and select
"Open a New Window"
4. a normal (visible) chromium window opens, but all personal configuration
(bookmarks, extensions etc.) is not loaded

Actual results:
a blank (white) window opens first, it is possible to open a second window but
without all personal configuration (bookmarks, extensions etc.)

Expected results:
a visible window is opened and all personal configuration is loaded.

Additional info:
chromium 78 works fine (as it has always done) over an ssh tunnel.

Workaround according to https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-

Bug seems to be related to MIT-SHM management

Works for me right now as follows:

- on the target machine install gcc and libX11-devel

- download XlibNoSHM.c from above link (at the bottom of the page)

- compile (always on target machine) with
gcc -shared -fPIC -o XlibNoSHM.so XlibNoSHM.c

- start chrome from the client on the target machine with
   ssh -X -f user@target "LD_PRELOAD='libdl.so ./XlibNoSHM.so'

some cases worse graphic performances.

[Bug 1888916] [NEW] upgrade from bionic to focal a server with molly-guard moves back sources.list to bionic entries

2020-07-24 Thread Patricia Domingues
Public bug reported:

I've upgraded a server via `do-release-upgrade` from Ubuntu Bionic to
Focal, with molly-guard installed on it - molly-guard configured to
always ask for the hostname.

After it has finished:

```
System upgrade is complete.
Restart required
To finish the upgrade, a restart is required.
If you select 'y' the system will be restarted.
Continue [yN] y
I: molly-guard: reboot is always molly-guarded on this system.
Please type in hostname of the machine to reboot:
Good thing I asked; I won't reboot bates ...
=== Command detached from window (Tue Jul 21 15:23:36 2020) ===
=== Command terminated normally (Tue Jul 21 15:23:46 2020) ===
```

It doesn't alert you it was restoring original state of sources.list.
After rebooting the system and it came back up showing `Welcome to Ubuntu 20.04
LTS`, I've just noticed it was pointing out to bionic instead of focal
installing a package.

[Bug 1872023] Re: libsdl2-ttf-dev and libsdl2-dev headers not at the same place, causing compilation error

2020-07-24 Thread Alexandre-Xavier Labonté-Lamoureux
I was trying to build my project using Clang++ instead of G++ and I got
this issue. I don't use libsdl2-ttf-dev inside my project, but it's
installed on my system. I do use SDL2 and SDL2_image. To be clear, G++
compiles my project fine. Clang++ does not. It spits build errors very
similar to this one:

1 error generated.

Samuel's workaround worked. I was able to compile my project like this:

clang++ *.cpp -std=c++14 -g -lglfw -lGL -lGLU -lSDL2 -lSDL2_image -lzmq
-I/usr/include/SDL2 -o MeshGlide

would really appreciate any workaround for this problem under 20.04.

[Bug 1842785] Re: Freeze after waking up from suspend on a Ryzen 3000 based system

2020-07-24 Thread jman6495
In some cases this appears to be linked to the use of s2-idle.

If you only see s2-idle when you run cat /sys/power/mem_sleep, then try
these steps:

[Bug 1888859] Re: installing kde-standard bricks computer

2020-07-24 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:

1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Please also ensure that you include the release and flavour of Ubuntu
that you are using.

Thank you!

Please note: Your linked bug report says you fixed it with
"I was able to recover from the desaster by hitting ctrl+alt+F3, logging in via
the virtual console, and running:
  sudo dpkg-reconfigure kdm3"
however no such package exists
(https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?suite=all=names=kdm3) let
alone other vague details you couldn't remember. It's very possible you meant
`gdm3`, however that should be stated/corrected.

I am using Ubuntu 20.04. The obconf.desktop file appears to have it's comments

[Bug 1690085]

2020-07-24 Thread victorcqueirozg
I'm also experiencing severe and constant crashes with a Ryzen 5 3600X.
I also had problems with my Ryzen 7 1700 and I was confident that the
problem was never going to have problems again with my Ryzen 5 3600X,
but I was wrong.

First months everything was fine, and after reinstalling the system,
everything went wrong. Crashes daily and constantly. I had a critical
Git repository corrupted (luckily I could recover things in time), but
it completely destroyed my experience with my PC and actually become a
financial gap as I use the computer to work on.

Not sure what to do. I've decided to try until the end of this year not
to have more crashes, but as a Linux user, I'm unsure I will ever think
about buying AMD again. I will always remember about the hassle and lost
years I had with this.

Sometimes all you want to do is to have a great experience with your
Linux computer and BOOM, a hard freeze that requires manually turning
the computer off. It's ridiculous. To be honest, I expected much more
from AMD. I hope they'll fix it ASAP, we can't stand this anymore. Intel
becomes our only option with this problem.

I also opened an issue where I'm posting updates about my problems:

[Bug 1887739] Re: 20.04 failed to calculate upgrade issue

You do have some X packages installed from another PPA (paulo-miguel-
dias-ubuntu-mesa-bionic.list) and those are likely causing a failure to
calculate the upgrade. Please try purging that PPA and trying the
upgrade again.

[Bug 1888912] [NEW] Software main window text instructions

2020-07-24 Thread Felipe G. Maia
Public bug reported:

The main window shows the following texts:

- "To try or install Ubuntu from a removable disk, it needs to be set up
as a startup disk." Actually, the software can create a bootable/startup
device with any OS, not only Ubuntu.

- "Source disc image (.iso)". The software supports not only ISO images
but also IMG. I suggest changing this text to just "Source".

- "CD-Drive/Image". Today, we can boot the computer from many kinds of
devices: HDs, CD, DVDs, pendrives, SD cards, etc. I suggest changing
this text to "Image File".

Instead of the button label "Other", I would suggest "Open File" or
"Choose File".

- On top of the second frame, I suggest replacing "Disk to use" to
"Destination".

My system info:

- Package: usb-creator-gtk  Version: 0.3.7
- Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS (Focal Fossa)
- GNOME version 3.36.3

[Bug 1888910] [NEW] Image-file extension filtering is case sensitive

2020-07-24 Thread Felipe G. Maia
Public bug reported:

When searching your file system for an image file to create a bootable
device (CD, DVD, pendrive, etc), the software offers 2 extensions filter
to show the list of files available: "iso" and "img". Since it is a case
sensitive filter, files with an "ISO" or "IMG" extension won't be shown
and the user might think there is a problem with the software.

2 Suggestions:

- Make the filter case-insensitive.
- Give two filtering options: one for all types of images supported (iso and
img) and a second option for all types of files (no filtering).

My system info:

[Bug 1888570] Re: poweroff not working after apt upgrade

2020-07-24 Thread Alex Hung
Thanks for reporting this, and your help is needed to identify the patch
that causes this regression.

There are 260 patches between 5.3.0-61 & 5.3.0-62, and it requires some
testing with bisects (see below).

$ git bisect start
$ git bisect good Ubuntu-5.3.0-61.55
$ git bisect bad Ubuntu-5.3.0-62.56
Bisecting: 260 revisions left to test after this (roughly 8 steps)
[19357b3b0835b96039e907f65ae203f7adc48ef6] epoll: atomically remove wait entry
on wake up

A test kernel is available @ https://people.canonical.com/~alexhung/LP1888570/.
Let me know whether it is pass or fail so I can build a next version.

[Bug 1781902] Re: memory hotplug test stuck on Azure BasicA1 node with X-HWE azure kernel

2020-07-24 Thread Sean Feole
We no longer test with the A1 Instances due to problems like this, A1 is
an extremely minimal, low resource instance. We should not be offlining
cpu and memory in these VMs.

[Bug 1888903] Re: Software Naming Inconsistency

2020-07-24 Thread Felipe G. Maia
** Description changed:

  (GTK) or "usb-creator-qt" (QT).

  - Here, in Launchpad, it is called "usb-creator".

  - In the "Ubuntu Software", the software is called "Startup Disk

  - On my desktop, it is also called "Startup Disk Creator".

  I suggest you have a single name for it everywhere, in order to avoid

[Bug 1888904] [NEW] Software Logo/Icon Inconsistency

2020-07-24 Thread Felipe G. Maia
Public bug reported:

- In Ubuntu Software Center, you have 2 options of the so called
"Startup Disk Creator": one with GTK GUI and an other with QT GUI. Each
one has a completely different logo/icon, like if they were different
applications. The GTK version has hard disk on it, while the QT version
has an USB pendrive.

- Although I installed on my computer the GTK version, the icon
displayed on my dashboard, and elsewhere, is the QT's one (with the
pendrive).

I suggest you have a single logo/icon everywhere. Perhaps, a small coloring
difference between the GTK and the QT vesions. Something just slightly different

My system info:

- Package: usb-creator-gtk  Version: 0.3.7
- Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS (Focal Fossa)
- GNOME version 3.36.3
- Theme: Dark
- Windowing System: Wayland

[Bug 1823200] Fix merged to cinder (stable/pike)

Branch:stable/pike

commit ba785eef5f515b869c0d68016e84bb74f76ab45e
Author: Ivan Pchelintsev
Date:   Thu Jun 4 19:57:56 2020 +0300

Remove VxFlex OS credentials from connection_properties

VxFlex OS password is not stored in block_device_mapping table.
Instead of this passwords are stored in separate file and are
retrieved during each attach/detach operation.

The stable/pike branch is in Extended Maintenance mode and is no
longer released from. If you decide to apply this patch to your
deployment, you must make a corresponding change to the os-brick
library. You can find the os-brick patch for stable/pike here:
https://review.opendev.org/#/c/733615

Additionally, you must deploy a new configuration file on compute
nodes, cinder nodes, and anywhere you would perform a volume
attachment in your deployment. See the documentation change on
this patch for details about the new config file.

See OSSN-0086 for more information about this change:
https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/OSSN/OSSN-0086

[Bug 1870955] Re: MokManager - Only DER encoded certificate (*.cer/der/crt) is supported

2020-07-24 Thread Steve Langasek
The current shim in Ubuntu was built with 3.0.8. We have a signing
request pending for a new one which was built with newer gnu-efi
(3.0.9). So it sounds like this bug will be fixed as a matter of course
once that newer shim has been signed.

[Bug 1888894] Re: Ubuntu 20.04:Wifi drops and speed is degarded periodically

2020-07-24 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/194/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1885730] Re: Bring back ondemand.service or switch kernel default governor for pstate - pstate now defaults to performance governor

2020-07-24 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
@colin-king @juliank

It feels to me that the oem flavour should default to
(powersave/ondemand), as it is more-or-less laptop kernel flavour.

I feel like generic kernel flavour should remain on performance.

I feel like we should have a unit, that for chassis=laptop turns on
(powersave/ondemand). Possibly shipped in like procps package. Or there
should be like graphical desktop integration to control this (aka game
mode).

Is there a per-chasis type setting in kernel? as in something like
CONFIG_WHEN_ON_LAPTOP_DEFAULT_GOV_* ?

Do above actionable things make sense?

[Bug 1888890] [NEW] openscap: xenial version is lower than version published in trusty/esm

2020-07-24 Thread Steve Beattie
Public bug reported:

openscap 1.2.8 was backported to the trusty ESM product to support some
of the improvements we are making to our generated OVAL data and
consumption on that platform.

Unfortunately, the version used in the trusty esm update is
1.2.8-1ubuntu02+esm1 which is greater than the 1.2.8-1ubuntu0.2 version
in xenial-security. This means that users upgrading from trusty ESM to
xenial will not get the version of openscap in xenial, built with the
xenial toolchain, which can lead to problems.

The only way to resolve this is for an update to the xenial package to a
version greater than the version in trusty ESM.

[Bug 1888617] Re: nvidia-kernel-source-435 435.21-0ubuntu0.18.04.2: nvidia kernel module failed to build

2020-07-24 Thread Chris Kontomitros
I updated yesterday and I encounter the same crash. The result is a
login loop problem in my main user and a fixed display resolution
problem. Can you recommend a temporary fix ?
