[Bug 1872244] Re: Jack audio not working on Ubuntu 20.04 running on a Thinkpad Carbon X1 (7th gen)
Hi all, I think we're confusing OP, who is using the correct 7th gen audio interface, with someone who chimed in with their 2nd gen audio interface aplay results. I've got a solution. The period that this driver uses is an EXTREMELY non-standard 1008 samples. I discovered this by making a dummy jackd server and adding the card manually via alsa_in: [19:36:16]daniel@daniel-ThinkPad-X1-Carbon-7th:~> $alsa_in -d hw:CARD=sofhdadsp,DEV=0 -r 48000 WARNING: buffer size does not match: (requested 2048, got 2040) WARNING: period size does not match: (requested 1024, got 1008) selected sample format: 32bit delay = 4208 delay = 1022 Anyway, the solution here is to use a period of 1008. This can be assigned in qjackctl by typing it in instead of using the dropdown, or via cli with the `--period 1008` option. Some audio applications will need additional config. For example, supercollider requires a 2^n block size that is a factor of the sample rate. This can be achieved by executing `s.options.blockSize = 16;` before booting the server. Other than the bizarre period, most of the defaults work quite well. Obviously this can be tuned, but at a bare minimum, jackd can be successfully started on my machine via: [02:37:47]daniel@daniel-ThinkPad-X1-Carbon-7th:/usr/lib/firmware/intel/sof-tplg> $jackd -d alsa --period 1008 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872244 Title: Jack audio not working on Ubuntu 20.04 running on a Thinkpad Carbon X1 (7th gen) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/jackd-defaults/+bug/1872244/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo apt-get clean Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. Thanks in advance! [Bug 1895418] [NEW] systemd-resolved default config for Caching is still "yes"
Public bug reported: Back in December, the default for systemd-resolved caching in Ubuntu systemd was changed to "no-negative" from the upstream default "yes" [0] In this change, the default value in the resolved.conf file was missed. As the defaults in this file are commented, the effective default is still "no-negative", however when viewing the config file, the commented default "yes" is at odds with the man page resolved.conf(5), which correctly states the default as "no-negative". This was an issue for me as I set DNSSEC to "yes", and expected Caching to also be "yes". Running DNSSEC with the default "no-negative" Caching is detrimental to performance resolving unsigned zones, as the non- existence of DNSSEC RRs must be looked up every time. The issue with the intersection of DNSSEC and Caching is for upstream, but the least that needs to be done here is updating the resolved.conf template with "Caching=no-negative" to match the man page and behaviour, and perhaps even adding a note to the "DNSSEC=" section of resolved.conf(5) that Caching should be enabled. Now that I'm looking at that man page, the default for DNSSEC is also listed as "allow- downgrade", whereas the default for Ubuntu is "no". [Bug 1861610] Re: 'Elan touchpad' not detected on 'Lenovo ThinkBook 15 IIL'
The only tip I can give, is that I tried @ferenc's fix while I was running 5.8.0 kernel. It was working as expected with the regular problems. [Bug 1700419] Re: caffeine 2.9.7 isn't working on Ubuntu 20.04
The patch for this bug: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xdg/xdg- utils/-/issues/98 does fix the problem, though I am not sure that the problem here is that the window has no title, rather that no title is reported by X11::Protocol. However, for our purposes that's good enough! I shall ensure that this is raised on the xdg-utils Debian package. In the mean time, a workaround for users is to apply the patch from the above issue to xdg-screensaver, and place the patched version on their PATH (e.g. in ~/bin). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1700419 Title: caffeine 2.9.7 isn't working on Ubuntu 20.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/caffeine/+bug/1700419/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1700419] Re: caffeine 2.9.4 isn't working on Ubuntu 16.04
Reopening, as I have finally managed to reproduce this bug. It occurs for me when the title of a full screen window (the window for which Caffeine inhibits idleness) contains a non-ASCII character. This causes an error in the embedded Perl script in xdg-screensaver, in the subroutine screensaver_gnome_screensaver, where it tries to get the window name (the call to GetProperty). [Bug 1895412] Re: X11 screen rotated
I think I've found the reason, but not the solution. I've put a Section "Monitor" Identifier "eDP-1" Option "Rotate" "normal" EndSection into /etc/X11/xorg.conf, which did not help. but then I noticed that this notebook comes with a flippable screen made for Win10 to be used as a tablet. I then need to do a xrand --output eDP-1 --rotate normal to get things straight. Works normal then. After installation it came up rotated again, even the login screen is rotated 90° But sorry, can't help in debugging. I did in fact also venture into PAM as I mentioned in my initial post. Alas, since I hadn't reconfigured anything PAM-related it made no sense that I caused this. I'll follow up with the information concerning (2) shortly (and adjust the bug status). I have to give this as piecemeal because I am fully expecting that the plug is pulled on me w.r.t. my home folder. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1894899 Title: smbd with "obey pam restrictions" enabled unmounts my interactive users' ecryptfs home directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1894899/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
