2020-09-23 Thread satmandu
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1878045 ***

The problem is due to 0028-add-support-for-linux-5.6.patch having many
of a/src/src/... instead of a/src/...

Fixing that patch solves this for me.

[Bug 1896866] [NEW] All directory navigation more than a couple of levels crashes.

2020-09-23 Thread Kent Lion
Public bug reported:

A few weeks ago Thunar started crashing when I tried to navigate any
more than 2 or 3 levels from the folder shown at startup. Now I can't
even start Thunar from the GUI, and when I start it from a terminal all
I get is "Segmentation fault (core dumped)". Nautilus does the same.
Dolphin and Krusader don't. Earlier when I started gedit and tried to
open a file that required navigating any more than 2 or 3 levels from
where the dialog started, there would be delay when I selected the last
folder to open and then gedit would crash. Now when I start gedit from
the gui, nothing happens; and from a terminal I get the same
"Segmentation fault (core dumped)" error. It doesn't matter what program
I use, if I try to open something that requires navigating more than 2
or 3 levels from where the open dialog started, there's a delay when I
select the last folder to open and then that program crashes with the
same error. However, if I navigate to a folder in Krusader and double-
click on a .JPG file, Kolourpaint opens with the file loaded; then, if I
try to save the file in a different folder, I can. However, double-
clicking or using "open with" on a .TXT file does not successfully start
gedit, though it will start mousepad...but if I then try to save the
text file in a path that requires navigating down a couple of levels,
mousepad crashes. Note that all these crashes are registered as such and
generate the GUI error "The application [name] has closed unexpectedly.
Send a problem report to the developers?", which I do; though I'm never
asked anything about what I was doing when the crash occurred.

I did find that programs installed with snap didn't have the same
problems, but the snap installation isolates them in a way that doesn't
allow me to navigate anywhere outside the snap folder. I have done
recovery starts of Ubuntu, checked the file system, checked system
memory, and found nothing wrong. Firefox and Chromium work find, until I
try to save a download in a folder more than 2 or 3 levels deeper from
the one the save/save as dialog starts in, or try to load a file more
than 2 or 3 levels deeper from the one the open dialog starts in.
Navigating up doesn't seem to be a problem, and navigating within shared
folders on the machine from the network works fine.

If I start Win XP Pro in a VirtualBox VM, navigation into shared folders
using the Windows file explorer isn't a problem. If I start Sigil and
select open, the selection window appears, nothing happens, and then
Sigil crashes. Starting from a terminal tells me that Sigil is
generating the same segmentation fault as above. However, if I start
Sigil and open a file from the File menu's list of previously opened
files, no problem and no problem saving changes...as long as I don't try
to save the changes somewhere that requires navigating 2 or 3 levels
down.

I don't know if this is a linux system bug or a XFCE-4 bug, but it makes
the machine pretty frustrating.

I'm tired of him. Was in the early 2010s for 512 MB of RAM. Was in the early
2010s for 512 MB of RAM. and 2 GB of RAM. Mid 2010s with 4GB of RAM. And for
the past five years, 16 GB of RAM has not gone anywhere.

There is a funny article in Russian about this bug lurkmore.to/12309 with links
to the original bug reports and "problem solutions" in each new kernel.
"According to the anonymous author, this useful feature is LOVE AND CAREFULLY
into a fresh kernel."

Earlier I tried to rebuild kernels according to the advice on the Internet
(BFQ). Sometimes it helped a little. Some assemblies gave time to urgently
close programs. But the most effective was vm.swappiness = 90 and a script with
a notification when approaching this value to clean up memory (conky + dialog).

[Bug 1851518] Re: [950SBE/951SBE, Realtek ALC298, Speaker, Internal] No sound on internal speakers, very very quiet on headphones

2020-09-23 Thread Duke Fong
@kasper93

I still have the metallic sound issue, after did 3 steps you list in
#99. (No problem without pulseaudio.)

It must be that a certain detail has not been handled properly. Do you
know what it is?

I have to put this line in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, without it, the
sound card driver refuses to install:

options snd-hda-intel dmic_detect=0

By the way, my laptop's id and model are not in the patch. I added a line to
sound/pci/hda/patch_realtek.c by myself:

SND_PCI_QUIRK(0x144d, 0xc188, "Samsung Galaxy Flex Book (NT930QCGI-
PS5)", ALC298_FIXUP_SAMSUNG_HEADPHONE_VERY_QUIET),

[Bug 1896862] [NEW] dbus daemon is quickly saturated with match rules

2020-09-23 Thread Tomofumi
Public bug reported:

I check my journal logs and it is filled with lots of dbus error about:

dbus-daemon[1483]: [session uid=1000 pid=1483] Connection ":1.66" is not
allowed to add more match rules (increase limits in configuration file
if required; max_match_rules_per_connection=5)

Search through google shows this is a bug related to mate-terminal's
keyboard handling and it has been fixed in June 2018: https://github.com
/mate-desktop/mate-terminal/issues/233

Can anyone help to port this fix into 18.04 LTS as the latest available
version is 1.20.0-4 and it still have this bug. Thanks.

yep, there we go, works fine now. I wonder what component malfunctioned
when setting that, could have been wine or vlc or any number of things
that prevent sleep while playing media, I suppose. It's too bad that
there's no indicator or overrider to let a user know what's going on in
this scenario.

Clean install of Windows 10 2004, everything works fine.
Installed Ubuntu 20.04.1, no trackpad, graphical artifacts like crazy. VERY
sluggish.

Installed 5.9 after another forum member mentioned adding the grub arguement
'GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="pci=nocrs quiet splash" but only after upgrading
to 5.8+
This didn't help

[Bug 1520858] Re: I would like to get rid of the 'you' and 'your' language in the default index page.

2020-09-23 Thread gstrauss
debian/index.html comes from the Debian package.

If you are still interested in this, please open a discussion at
  https://salsa.debian.org/debian/lighttpd/

(The Debian references in the page are replaced with Ubuntu and Ubuntu
links in the Ubuntu lighttpd patch, but the "you" is part of the Debian
debian/index.html whether or not to make the changes you have proposed
should be discussed at https://salsa.debian.org/debian/lighttpd/ or
bugs.debian.org.

[Bug 1896852] [NEW] after sleep (ram) the desktop did not return correctly and crash

2020-09-23 Thread Daniel Pfeifer
Public bug reported:

After sleep (ram) the desktop returns but some elements in kde plasma
remain black and after a short time the hole screen is not responding
(mouse and keyboard are working, but no click is registered inside kde
plasma). With driver version 440 this never happened. A logout and login
helped to refresh the desktop. Once the desktop remains unresponsible I
went to the text terminal and rebooted the system.

System: kubuntu 20.04.1, nvidia 730GT

[Bug 377663] Re: mod_h264_streaming

2020-09-23 Thread gstrauss
This is not a matter of Ubuntu packaging with lighttpd.

This would be a feature request for upstream. Please create a feature
request here if still interested:
https://redmine.lighttpd.net/projects/lighttpd/issues

The original third-party publisher of mod_h264_streaming has abandoned
it. It was never part of lighttpd (nor was it ever part of apache)

[Bug 714832] Re: mod_ssi works, but does not allow any #include

2020-09-23 Thread gstrauss
If you are still interested in this issue, please file a feature request
upstream at
https://redmine.lighttpd.net/projects/lighttpd/issues

This is a feature request not present in upstream lighttpd, and is not a
packaging issue in Ubuntu, so I am closing this issue here.

[Bug 1290140] Re: lighty-enable-mod for Perl, Python and Ruby

2020-09-23 Thread gstrauss
There is no "generic" equivalent to PHP for Perl, Python, or Ruby. You
need to configure the socket, or host and port, on which your script
will know to listen.

fastcgi.server += ( ".php" =>
((
"bin-path" => "/usr/bin/php-cgi",
"socket" => "/var/run/lighttpd/php.socket",
))
)

[Bug 1750146]

2020-09-23 Thread hurikhan77+bko
Yeah, it seems to get worse with every 5.4 LTS update. Worked almost
flawless about some months ago (despite taking something from 30-60s to
successfully connect). But I don't see a correlation to any commits. But
now, it's almost impossible to connect successfully, it usually
disconnects after a 1-2 minutes (coincidentally just when entering a
game).

I usually also see messages like this:

During use of the controller (probably around disconnect time):
[ 5304.480502] Bluetooth: Unexpected continuation frame (len 52)

When plugging the BT dongle:
[ 5241.926752] Bluetooth: hci0: unexpected event for opcode 0x

While it's in a loop of constantly connecting and disconnecting:
[ 1120.736530] Bluetooth: hci0: hardware error 0x58
[ 1120.923550] debugfs: File 'le_min_key_size' in directory 'hci0' already
present!
[ 1120.923555] debugfs: File 'le_max_key_size' in directory 'hci0' already
present!
[ 1120.923557] debugfs: File 'force_bredr_smp' in directory 'hci0' already
present!

Other BT devices seem to just work fine tho I don't use a lot of them
and only occasionally. It seems that the Xbox One S firmware does
something strange in the BT protocol. It also needs either ERTM disabled
to connect. Alternatively, one can apply this patch to be able to use
ERTM:

https://github.com/kakra/linux/commit/c8b24d83f227a7fecfa9420d6756074e8f9b542c

I'm also feeling there's some internal state getting messed up within
the controller on each BT pairing: Results are not really reproducible.
I managed to get it to work flawlessly one time (stable connection
despite 20-30s connect handshake time), then purged my Bluetooth config
from /var/lib, re-paired the controller and now it's a mess - still with
the same kernel version.

[Bug 1814374] Re: lighttpd mod_openssl undefined symbol

2020-09-23 Thread gstrauss
/usr/lib/lighttpd/mod_openssl.so did not exist in the official lighttpd
distribution until lighttpd 1.4.46 (not 1.4.35 or 1.4.36), so I am going
to close this as a not a bug in lighttpd or packaging, but a user-error
with a bad config mixed with a manual installation of a different
version of lighttpd.

[Bug 1896848] [NEW] Upgrade from 18.04 to 20.04: "An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade." apt.log shows hundreds of broken things.

2020-09-23 Thread Chuck Cooperman
Public bug reported:

Upgrade from 18.04 to 20.04:

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

 If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command
'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal. If you want to
investigate this yourself the log files in '/var/log/dist-upgrade' will
contain details about the upgrade. Specifically, look at 'main.log' and
'apt.log'."

apt.log shows hundreds of broken things.

[Bug 1896847] [NEW] Most executables crash when running in GUI but not in terminal

2020-09-23 Thread mfort
Public bug reported:

Most of the executable ELF files in /usr/bin/ will not run from any GUI
interface and most do not show up anywhere including in the files list. When I
try to execute one from GUI I get the popup box that I have attached to this
report. However, when I run the same file from a terminal it will open and run
as it should. It would seem the error is either in the GUI or every single ELF
file is missing a : in the uri. Many of those are supposed to run in the
background. They don't. I will be very happy to see this fixed and everything
running as it is supposed to run. Just in case my attachment has something
wrong with it too, I will type out what is in the popup box:
Invalid url:'/usr/bin/gnome-system-monitor' given, exiting No ':' in the uri

[Bug 1721635] Re: "reload" action breaks further actions

2020-09-23 Thread Vasya Pupkin
The easiest fix for Ubuntu 16.04 (and probably 18.04 too) is:

$ sudo mkdir -p /etc/systemd/system/lighttpd.service.d
$ echo '[Service]
KillMode=mixed
KillSignal=SIGINT
TimeoutStopSec=60' | sudo tee /etc/systemd/system/lighttpd.service.d/sigint.conf
$ sudo systemctl daemon-reload

Ubuntu 20.04 already contains a new Lighttpd release with configuration
reload support via SIGUSR1 signal.
