[Bug 1896919] Re: [SRU] g-c-c: The hdmi/dp profiles are not set automatically in the combo list after selecting the hdmi/dp audio in the g-c-c

2020-10-06 Thread Yuan-Chen Cheng
I install a dell machine (still not disclosed), upgrade everything from
updates channel, and install from focal-proposed

Get:1 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-proposed/main amd64
gnome-control-center-data all 1:3.36.4-0ubuntu2 [327 kB]
Get:2 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-proposed/main amd64
gnome-control-center amd64 1:3.36.4-0ubuntu2 [1,718 kB]
Get:3 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-proposed/main amd64
gnome-control-center-faces all 1:3.36.4-0ubuntu2 [1,216 kB]

After that, I reboot the machine, plug hdmi, make sure hdmi output is
selected in g-c-c.

I still can see three items in the profile combo list.

2020-10-06 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Great, but keep in mind that's just a workaround. Using the 'intel'
driver is usually not recommended because it's getting old and buggy in
other ways. It is however your only option if you need 'TearFree'
enabled. See also

[Bug 1898823] Re: groovy desktop aarch64 image does not boot on Lenovo Yoga C630 WOS - just black sreen instead of grub2

2020-10-06 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it
will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1898823

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Additional notes:

This may not be possible with the actual ISO given it won't boot, an
older ISO can be used which will fill in details, however please note
the ISO used is different as the daily image date won't match the ISO
you're experiencing the issue with.

If you were recording your QA-testing using
http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/413/builds please ensure
you've recorded the launchpad bug ID in the BUGS section of the test.

[Bug 1886148] Re: failure to boot groovy daily

2020-10-06 Thread RussianNeuroMancer
@xnox, thank you!

Now groovy-desktop-arm64.iso is recognized as bootable by Lenovo Yoga
C630 WOS (I will check RPi3B and r3399 uefi implementations later, but
that most likely work too).

There is still black screen issue I described earlier:

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing
future users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

FYI: You need elevated privileges to run package tools, so the command
needed to update your software lists is

`sudo apt update`

and to install upgraded packages

`sudo apt upgrade`

(or `sudo apt full-upgrade` to install all packages)

The `sudo` elevates your privileges.

I'm marking this as 'incomplete' as I don't see any problem, if you
believe I'm in error, please leave a message explaining why, and you can
change the status to "New".

if the fix was just to disable the menu in Gnome too! saboteur style : )
Maybe they'll allow burning of blue ray data disks someday too? umm

[Bug 1898806] Re: I get an error when I try to install R in Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS How can I fix it?

2020-10-06 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1898806/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1894419] Re: Missing TextPane.background property in GTKLookAndFeel causes white background on dark theme

2020-10-06 Thread Hiroshi Miura
There may be another approach for fix this.

Since OpenJDK BasicLookAndFeel.java set text background color to fixed 'white'
color,
it causes the issue.
https://github.com/openjdk/jdk/blob/fb8ceae0a77fecb0b14de5bd00253e074b0aba90/src/java.desktop/share/classes/javax/swing/plaf/basic/BasicLookAndFeel.java#L1657-L1678

"TextPane.font", serifPlain12,
"TextPane.background", white,
"TextPane.foreground", textText,
"TextPane.selectionBackground", textHighlight,
"TextPane.selectionForeground", textHighlightText,
"TextPane.caretForeground", textText,
"TextPane.caretBlinkRate", caretBlinkRate,
"TextPane.inactiveForeground", textInactiveText,
"TextPane.border", marginBorder,
"TextPane.margin", editorMargin,

"EditorPane.font", serifPlain12,
"EditorPane.background", white,
"EditorPane.foreground", textText,
"EditorPane.selectionBackground", textHighlight,
"EditorPane.selectionForeground", textHighlightText,
"EditorPane.caretForeground", textText,
"EditorPane.caretBlinkRate", caretBlinkRate,
"EditorPane.inactiveForeground", textInactiveText,
"EditorPane.border", marginBorder,
"EditorPane.margin", editorMargin,

One idea is that we can change 'TextPane.background' to 'text' instead of
'white'.
It would make side effects around all default LaFs other than Aqua.

My proposed patch is a quick hack only to effect against GTKLaF.

[Bug 1898814] [NEW] Under netplan with "renderer: networkd", Update-manager claims "No network connection detected, you can not download changelog information." even network is connected

2020-10-06 Thread hogetaro
Public bug reported:

My network is cofigured under netplan using "renderer:networkd".

Update-manager claims "No network connection detected, you can not
download changelog information." , even the network is connected

Even it's not a critical bug, Checking update detail with updatet-
manager is sometime so convinient for me. So Ill be happy if this fixed!

It seems UpdateManager/Core/roam.py does network connectivity check ONLY with
NetworkManager statu via dbus. Checking network connectivity via
netplan+networkd is also expected.
(or Why not use try-and-error way?)

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System ->
About Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
Release:20.04

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or
by checking in Software Center
  Installed: 1:20.04.10.1
  Candidate: 1:20.04.10.1
  Version table:
 *** 1:20.04.10.1 500
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-updates/main amd64 Packages
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-updates/main i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 1:20.04.9 500
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/main amd64 Packages
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/main i386 Packages

3) What you expected to happen
In Update-Manager GUI, When I select a package name in "Details of update"
panel, Content of "Changes" tab should show change details of the selected
package.

4) What happened instead
Content of "Changes" tab shows the message "No network connection detected, you
can not download changelog information." ,Even network is connected via
netplan+networkd.

[Bug 1888575] Re: Split motd-news config into a new package

2020-10-06 Thread Cody Shepherd
My attempts to verify test case k) seem to indicate there is still a
problem somewhere.

I've verified

i) that grub-legacy-ec2 is no longer in the server seed [1]
iv) that the livecd.ubuntu-cpc.manifest contains grub-legacy-ec2 and
ubuntu-server.

However,

ii) the rootfs manifest has not retained ubuntu-server
iii) cpc "secret sauce" hooks which purge grub-legacy-ec2 have not retained
ubuntu-server.

The failure of ii) occurred in a livefs-build of the ubuntu-cpc project
in the xenial branch livecd-rootfs at version 2.408.61 (02ea8c93).

The failure of iii) occurred in a build of CPC "secret sauce" hooks
using the Ubuntu Old Fashioned tool [2] and the same branch/revision of
livecd-rootfs described above.

[Bug 1898811] [NEW] Bluetooth toggle is on but bluetooth is off

2020-10-06 Thread Praful Mohanan
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
Release:20.04

I switched to Ubuntu from Windows 10 2 days ago and I am facing issues with
Bluetooth. I have a Bluetooth headset which I want to connect to my laptop. At
the start of fresh install, the bluetooth seemed to work fine, then after some
time Whenever I switch the bluetooth toggle on, the bluetooth, the UI status
remains the same similar to this question
https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/541704/bluetooth-turned-off-even-if-switched-on

and bluetooth doesn't switch on.

I have tried every fix possible from the past two days, even did a
complete fresh install of ubuntu, but nothing seems to work

[Bug 1898713] Re: Xorg crashes sometimes with Easystrokes

2020-10-06 Thread Daniel van Vugt
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1733292 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1733292

This appears to be a duplicate of bug 1733292 so please use that one
from now on.

Separately, I notice you seem to be using the *old* 'intel' graphics
driver (according to XorgLog.txt). If you can find the Xorg config file
(maybe in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d) that is loading the 'intel'
graphics driver then I recommend removing that. The latest driver is
called 'modesetting' which should be used instead of 'intel'. And it
will be used automatically if you remove the config file that was
loading 'intel'.

[Bug 1897224] Re: [snap] chromium won't start on Xwayland in Ubuntu 20.10: Unable to open X display

2020-10-06 Thread James Henstridge
Looking at the reasoning behind that change, Mutter introduced lazy
initialisation of Xwayland: binding the two sockets, and starting
Xwayland when someone connected to the abstract namespace socket.
Flatpak apps apparently can't speak to the abstract namespace socket, so
would hang forever when started since the connection to the non-abstract
/tmp/.X11-unix socket was never accepted.

Rather than fixing the initialisation logic to start Xwayland on connect
to either socket, they dropped the abstract namespace socket. I'll talk
to the snapd folks about it, but this sounds like it should be dealt
with on the Mutter side.

[Bug 1897224] Re: [snap] chromium won't start on Xwayland in Ubuntu 20.10: Unable to open X display

2020-10-06 Thread James Henstridge
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/1424 is
definitely the culprit here. Snaps depend on access to the abstract
namespace socket to function correctly.

Inside the sandboxes, snaps see a private /tmp that is under their
complete control. So there is no /tmp/.X11-unix directory there. They
can see the abstract namespace socket though, which the client libraries
will use automatically.

[Bug 1820929] Re: netplan should consider adding more udev attribute for exact matching of failover 3-netdev interfaces

2020-10-06 Thread Jay Vosburgh
Si-Wei,

In the test environment I'm using, the only change needed was to
initramfs-tools. I suspect the udevd change you're thinking of was an
alternate implementation that we did not proceed with due to the
regression it introduced (that network interface names would change).
