[Bug 1874161] Re: kpcli is unable to open a kdbx file if the file is locked by both a password and a key file
Hello Lester, Thank you for your guidance. I tried renaming the kdbx file to end with a kdb extension instead. I then used kpcli to try opening the kdb file with the same key file, but I still encountered the same error: Couldn't load the file kpstuff2.kdb: The database key appears invalid or else the database is corrupt. [Bug 1909622] Re: lubuntu hirsute install; calamares error
the system actually boots... (comment #6 install), and system appears normal, however prior to this test was a complete Lubuntu hirsute install with the current daily.. so is it all new? Of note: - no command history seen which normally has a "df -h; neofetch" in it at minimum, indication of format - normally I adjust screens to match my setup, however due to another bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxqt-config/+bug/1905947), this currently can't be used as every login appears as if first-login (my screen adjustments aren't saved) It looks like install itself is good, issue is error message. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1909622 Title: lubuntu hirsute install; calamares error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/calamares/+bug/1909622/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1909622] Re: lubuntu hirsute install; calamares error
I went and did an install on hp.dc7700 and didn't have issues (internet was disabled being primary difference) I then repeated the QA-test install on d755-8 box this bug report was filed on, in what should be identical (calamares started from different point; but I can't see that as an issue.. I loop between the desktop.link, and 2x system.menu.links.. the link I used I believe for the QA-test when this report was filed was "Install System" (not desktop link, nor the 'Install Lubuntu 20.10' option) I fear this bug report has minimal/no value though; it didn't occur to me to scan `dmesg` or `journalctl` for clues until after I'd started shutdown (I expected them to be saved in bug report). [Bug 1909617] Re: Password is asked for everything
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1909617/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Are you sure you're not logged in multiple times? eg. via a text terminal (ctrl+alt+f4 for example) (I'm not sure if this should be filed against gnome-shell, gnome-session or gdm3; I've selected gnome-session for now) Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal: apport-collect 1909616 When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu- bug' and the name of the package affected. [Bug 1909612] Re: Closing laptop lid doesn't suspend with external monitor plugged in
Hi Chris, I see your point but would counter that having the option ticked for 'Suspend when laptop lid is closed' and not having it do that when an external monitor is plugged in is more a bug than a feature. I agree that this is actually a feature some users may want but this should be something which can be controlled by the user via a toggle with the default behaviour being consistent with lid closed = suspend regardless of whether there is a monitor plugged in or not. If having a mouse plugged in prevented the laptop from suspending with the lid closed, this would certainly be a bug. [Bug 1909612] Re: Closing laptop lid doesn't suspend with external monitor plugged in
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future users from hitting the same bug. I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709 I can imagine many users using an external monitor and expecting their system to continue operation as they watch movie on external monitor, or work using external/dock keyboard, and being annoyed if their system suspended on lid closure. I personally see your issue as a support one, as not everyone will want the lid closure to suspend laptop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1909612 Title: Closing laptop lid doesn't suspend with external monitor plugged in To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1909612/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1909612] [NEW] Closing laptop lid doesn't suspend with external monitor plugged in
Public bug reported: I wish to have my laptop suspend when plugged into my dock with an HDMI display added. Instead, the system stays on with the monitor becoming the primary display. Suspending manually will work. I have tried editing logind.conf and uncommenting HandleLidSwitch=suspend and the other related items but to no avail. You still have packages from the oibaf PPA (and maybe some other PPA's) installed. You need to run 'ppa-purge' on those PPA's before upgrading. [Bug 1691017] [NEW] UPON SETTING UP MY NEW LINUX OS, I ENCOUNTERED A COUPLE PUZZLING THINGS: MY WINDOWS SYSTEM WAS HACKED; IS HE STILL IN HERE EVEN WITH LINUX NOW?
You have been subscribed to a public bug: UPON SETTING UP MY SYSTEM WITH THE ZORIN LINUX THAT MY GEEK GUYS INSTALLED FOR ME, I GOT A MESSAGE AT ONE POINT THAT SOMEONE OR SOMETHING WAS ATTEMPTING TO DO SOMETHING THAT THIS SYSTEM DIDN'T AGREE WITH. I TOOK A PICTURE OF THE MESSAGE: "NETWORK SERVICE DISCOVERY DISABLED - YOUR CURRENT NETWORK HAS A .LOCAL DOMAIN, WHICH IS NOT RECOMMENDED AND INCOMPATIBLE WITH THE AVAHI NETWORK SERVICE DISCOVERY. THE SERVICE HAS BEEN DISABLED." THAT WAS MESSAGE #1. THEN LATER, I GOT ANOTHER MESSAGE WHILE STILL TRYING TO GET UPDATES AND WHEN I CLICKED ON THE BUTTON, I GOT ANOTHER MESSAGE WINDOW: "PROBLEM IN SHIM-SIGNED - THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE REPORTED: THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL ZORIN PACKAGE. PLEASE REMOVE ANY THIRD PARTY PACKAGE AND TRY AGAIN." MY MACHINE WAS HACKED IN THE LAST COUPLE YEARS, AND I JUST RECENTLY FOUND OUT THAT MY SUSPICIONS WERE CONFIRMED: IT WAS HACKED BY THE CIA/NSA FROM THE GOVERNMENT! THERE WAS SO MUCH EVIDENCE IN MY SYSTEM HIDDEN THAT THEY CAME AND WENT IN REAL- TIME; THEY MESSED WITH MY MOUSE WHILE I WAS TRYING TO USE IT, AND NOT EVEN 24 FACTORY RESETS GOT RID OF THEM. TOPPING THAT OFF, THEY HACKED INTO A BRAND NEW LAPTOP I BOUGHT WHILE I WAS SETTING IT UP AND BEFORE I COULD EVEN FINISH, THEY WERE THERE WAITING FOR ME! I SEE HERE THEY ARE, TRYING TO GET SET UP IN MY NEW LINUX, BUT I AM DETERMINED TO FIGHT - HOPING THAT THEY ALL DROP DEAD BEFORE I DO! IN SOFTWARE & UPDATES>ADDITIONAL DRIVERS>UNKNOWN:UNKNOWN IS THE HACKER'S FILE, I AM QUITE CERTAIN! I TOOK A PICTURE OF THAT SCREEN TOO! THEN I RESTARTED MY SYSTEM TO MAKE CERTAIN THE SETTING STAYS ON DO NOT USE THE DEVICE. PLEASE, IF YOU CAN SPOT HOW THEY GOT IN, OR FIND THEIR DOOR AND ANY CODE, SEND ME AN UPDATE THAT WILL PERMANENTLY REMOVE THEM BECAUSE I BELIEVE THEY GOT IN WITH MICROSOFT APPROVAL. NO MATTER WHAT I DID TO DISABLE THEM OR HAMSTRING THEM, AT THE VERY LEAST, THEY ALWAYS CAME BOUNCING BACK WITH A VENGEANCE! I'D LOVE TO DEAL THEM A FINAL DEATH BLOW, WHICH IS WHY MY GEEK GUYS TOLD ME THAT THIS LINUX SYSTEM SHOULD WORK FOR ME. I SURE HOPE SO! I'D LOVE THIS NIGHTMARE TO BE OVER WITH FOREVER! ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Tags: file hacker -- UPON SETTING UP MY NEW LINUX OS, I ENCOUNTERED A COUPLE PUZZLING THINGS: MY WINDOWS SYSTEM WAS HACKED; IS HE STILL IN HERE EVEN WITH LINUX NOW? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1691017 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Note that landing that one merge alone will not allow autosync to be re- enabled as there are further differences between Debian and Ubuntu (eg such as an epoch to the version number, nvidia packaging differences, disabling of dconf questions for software centers etc). Re: [Bug 1899882] Re: hdmi monitor on
Hi Koba, 5.6.0-1036-oem is much more polite than any of the 5.10 candidates you have provided. 5.6.0-1036-oem boots to the correct configuration and usually recovers from suspend to the correct configuration. Even better, it doesn't turn off the dock when suspending or recovering from suspend. My current configuration is mirrored with both the external monitor at 60 Hz and the laptop screen at 120 Hz, both set to 1920x1080. I would rather have the two screens be separate but the mirrored configuration seems to be a bit more stable when recovering from suspend. [Bug 1909599] [NEW] LibreOffice fails to fully resume focus with alt+tab
Public bug reported: Using updated focal, with nvidia proprietary driver, rtl (Hebrew) interface, all gnome-shell extensions disabled. When navigating to an open copy of LibreOffice with Alt+Tab, the application window receives focus, but fails to reflect user input. The carret is not shown, typed characters are not shown, clicking menus does not show response, etc. In order to resolve this I have to use Alt+Tab to navigate away to another app and back to LibreOffice. To reproduce: 1. Load Firefox, then load LibreOffice Writer and open a document. 2. Use Alt+Tab to move to Firefox. 3. Click several times inside the Firefox window, highlight text, etc. 4. Use Alt+Tab to move back to Writer. 5. Type any character. Expected result: - The character is shown on screen. Actual result: - More often than not, the character is typed in Writer, but the screen is not updated to reflect this. Using Alt+Tab again to navigate to firefox and back to Writer resolves this. This makes working with LibreOffice quite difficult. [Bug 1575053] Re: Please move the "$HOME/snap" directory to a less obtrusive location
GizmoChicken, I apologize for my post. Wanted to delete it but cannot figure out how. Was just so frustrated in the moment about the non-communication about progress and that Canonical decided to push snap in the current state, even though they participated from the beginning in this thread and are fully aware that they are putting a visible directory right in the user home directory that cannot be moved/renamed. I try to be hopeful, but sometimes it is getting so difficult. Was so hyped about comment #259. Maybe I am just not familiar enough with the process.
