[Bug 849413] Re: xdg-open spitting out debug messages on start

2021-01-09 Thread Nicholas Guriev
It seems these tracing messages are outputted by the kde-open5 utility.
I do not think we should hide at xdg-utils level any messages from
underlying tools. However, you may redirect unneeded output on your own.

[Bug 1908429] Re: gnome-shell fills syslog: Attempting to run a JS callback during garbage collection. This is most likely caused by destroying a Clutter actor or GTK widget with ::destroy signal conn

2021-01-09 Thread Martin Althoff
In addition to my previous entry (I can't seem to edit it), I'd like to
say the "unbearable" switching from window to window means 5-15 seconds.

For me, this flood of errors appears as the end result of something else
taking place. For me, that only started after the observed drastic
sluggishness of the UI. That had happened before, though I didn't check
any logs. Actually with qbittorrent, there was no obvious high system
load, and digikam did perform well in the background (memory usage also
no more than 60-70%) as the progress showed (up to 14:45)

[Bug 1908429] Re: gnome-shell fills syslog: Attempting to run a JS callback during garbage collection. This is most likely caused by destroying a Clutter actor or GTK widget with ::destroy signal conn

2021-01-09 Thread Martin Althoff
I can confirm the same effect for myself, Ubuntu 20.04

grep -n -m 1 '8 23:58:00' syslog.1
843618574:Jan 8 23:58:00 smallbox gnome-shell[3313]: The offending callback
was SourceFunc()

$ grep -n -m 1 '8 23:59:00' syslog.1
845405757:Jan 8 23:59:00 smallbox gnome-shell[3313]: The offending callback
was SourceFunc().

That is close to 1.8 Million entries per minute. Eventually the disk was
full after 250GB of logs.

Background: I had in the past (also with 18.04) noticed that the UI gets very
sluggish at occasions, e.g. when running qbittorrent for some days. At this
time digikam (7.2beta) was running its face recognition (I allowed all CPUs)
using 70-90% CPU. There is a high amount of disk I/O. Initially that caused no
significant impact on the usage. After about 5 hours, the UI got sluggish,
after 24h it became unbearable to click from one window to another. I disabled
the screenlock (logging in took about 2 min by now). At about 14:45 waking up
the screen, displayed the favorites bar plus the big clock (frozen) on fuzzy
background, a login field did not appear.

Hoping at least digikam would finish, I left it until the next morning.
After a power-off and some hassles of clearing disk space, I had working
machine again. I have attached an extract of the syslog from around
14:45 when things went bad. If of interest, I still have the full
syslogs and can find bits in there.

I saw a similar issue here: https://github.com/GSConnect/gnome-shell-
extension-gsconnect/issues/588, but I don't have gsconnect installed

Re: [Bug 1910836] Re: Left Handed Mouse configuration switching to "Right" on reconnect V20.04

2021-01-09 Thread Kim Tyson
The package information is not available on my copy of ubuntu because I
installed some extra software - python 3 upgrades etc.
The system options such as mouse functions should be in the kernel not an
application package. I believe the bug report was clear.
Also yes, a bug can be in more than one "source package" and indeed it is
"just filed against Ubuntu" which handles left handed "mice" incorrectly.

Its fixed, sort of. I needed to remove the linux line "maybe-ubiquity"
for it to boot to a desktop. Leaving "maybe-ubiquity" in, I was left

[Bug 1910885] Re: Details->About->Graphics: llvmpipe

2021-01-09 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1910885/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[Bug 1882418] Re: spamprobe crashes on email containing images

2021-01-09 Thread Joseph Ishac
I have not had a chance to dig into it too deeply, but it seems that
disabling optimization fixes the issue.

I tried this and it worked for the current code without Scott's
workaround.

$ make

[Bug 424044]

2021-01-09 Thread Qa-admin-q
Dear Yury,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open,
confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked
on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has
been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really
appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still
present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of
LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

[Bug 1910879] [NEW] Sound output settings do not update

Public bug reported:

I have several possible sound outputs, and some require a configuration
but when I select one and then choose the configuration (ie Analog
surround 7.1) the sliders are not displayed until I close the window and
open it again. At this moment the sliders for left/right, front/back
balance are correctly displayed, but they were not displayed at first.

[Bug 1910876] [NEW] wifi no longer recognized

2021-01-09 Thread Charles Diza
Public bug reported:

Within the last couple of hours there was a batch of system updates
presented to me by Discover in KDE. I installed them and restarted like
it said to. Upon restart, there is no wifi. If I do `nmcli dev`, I no
longer see my wifi device listed at all. It used to be listed as
"wlp2s0".

Rebooting, or shutting down and restarting cold, didn't help.

[Bug 1910875] Re: Broadcom wireless driver failed to install with code 10 on focal 20.04

2021-01-09 Thread Charles Diza
I'm new to Linux, so bear with me, but...Within the last hour or so I
installed a bunch of system updates in KDE Discover, and suddenly wifi
stopped working after the enforced restart.

By "stopped working", I mean I have no internet connection via wifi and
`nmcli dev` no longer lists my wireless device "wlp2so" *at all*.

I'm on an Apple MacBookPro9,2 running 20.04 with KDE. "Driver Manger"
tells me I'm using "Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA wireless driver source
from bcmwl-kernel-source (proprietary)", for the BCM4331 device.

I tried clicking "Do not use the device" and then re-enabling it but I
got some cryptic error. Upon re-opening Driver Manager it again says
I'm using the proprietary driver.

I hope this can be quickly fixed, since this machine is now internet-
free except for the occasional times I can plug into ethernet.

[Bug 1905211] Re: package bcmwl-kernel-source 6.30.223.271+bdcom-0ubuntu5 failed focal fossa in kernel v5.9

2021-01-09 Thread Jeremy David Sarka
I have a very similar problem ("package bcmwl-kernel-source 6.30.223.271
+bdcom-0ubuntu5 failed to install/upgrade: installed bcmwl-kernel-source
package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status
10"), and I suspect it may be the same bug. However, I submitted a
separate bug report (Bug #1910875 "Broadcom wireless driver failed to
install with code 10 on focal 20.04") because I am still on kernel v5.8.
If anyone thinks these are be the same bug, please merge my report with
this one.

[Bug 1910875] [NEW] Broadcom wireless driver failed to install with code 10 on focal 20.04

2021-01-09 Thread Jeremy David Sarka
Public bug reported:

First, I suspect this may be the same bug as Bug #1905211 "package
bcmwl-kernel-source 6.30.223.271+bdcom-0ubuntu5 failed focal fossa in
kernel v5.9" because I got the same error "installed bcmwl-kernel-source
package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status
10". However, I wanted to make a separate report because I am still on
kernel v5.8. Please merge these threads if it seems like they're the
same bug.

Anyway, my problem is this:

The last time I installed a tranche of system updates, I got a "System
software problem detected" dialog and submitted the crash report. The
next time I booted up my computer, the Broadcom wifi device was not
recognized. The wifi had worked fine up until that point.

I tried to manually uninstall and reinstall the driver using dpkg with
the bcmwl-kernel-source (6.30.223.271+bdcom-0ubuntu5) package downloaded
from packages.ubuntu.com (the machine in question does not have a wired
ethernet connection). dpkg produced the following output:

[Bug 1627157] Re: Steam is not searchable and installable

2021-01-09 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

The problem is that the steam package is i386 but the host is amd64,
gnome-software then doesn't show i386 software in it's listing.

Since around 18.04 a steam-installer package is available which is
available on amd64, this package then depends on the i386 package steam.
So you should be able to search and install the steam-installer package
since 18.04 - therefore I am marking this bug as fixed released.

[Bug 1909941] Re: xdg-email changes break simple-scan email functionality

2021-01-09 Thread Andy Juniper
This is different to the old bug. Prior to the recent change to xdg-
email, simple scan "send by email" was working fine.

I think that the problem is because xdg-email assembles command line
arguments such as -attach to form a mailto: URL and passes that to
run_thunderbird, which recently got changed to drop the attachment field
from the mailto: url (I think on the assumption that the mailto: url
could only come from a browser click).

The proper fix would probably be to break any command line mailto: URL
down into component parts and drop any "attach" argument before
reassembling as today, and reinstate the code removed in the recent
change.

In the above simple-scan bug report I added a patch which just
reinstated the original code but only if the caller is not
Chrome/Chromium as those are the only browsers in question in my
environment (Firefox appears to call Thunderbird directly).

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

This bug was reported against the package "steam" but it doesn't provide
any reasoning as to why, it sounds like there is some other issue with
the system in the shutdown process. Therefore I am closing this bug,
please open a new bug against the appropriate project with a clear
problem.

[Bug 1344258] Re: Steam wants to remove itself

2021-01-09 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This is a bug tracker for Ubuntu not Linux Mint, please ask on the Linux
Mint bug tracker if the issue still exists there. Or try on the latest
version of Ubuntu. I am therefore marking this bug as invalid.

when using control +F on Gnome using thunar i do see a search box it
could be an issue with the keyboard shortcut mapping in the Desktop
Environment. I tested this on a fresh install of 20.04 LTS version of
Ubuntu Linux OS.

[Bug 1311679] Re: steam license agreement header refers to nonexistant "ok" button

2021-01-09 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

The debconf question has been disabled for a few releases in Ubuntu now
and I cannot see that text in the debian packaging.

So I am going to mark this as incomplete, please state if this still
happens with a recent version of Ubuntu.

[Bug 1103132] Re: libappindicator support for Steam is broken

2021-01-09 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

The using Ubuntu 20.04 with the latest Steam package the indicator shows
correctly.

Can you check the issue still occurs on a recent version of Ubuntu?

I will mark this bug as incomplete as it is for an EOL release and I
cannot reproduce.

[Bug 1905245] Re: "Failed to parse bus message: Invalid argument" with Linux 5.8

2021-01-09 Thread Stéphane Graber
Now that we have the 5.8 kernel in HWE for focal, all my servers are
hitting this, both on metal and in containers. This causes things like
"systemctl show" to show an error as well as partial data.

It really feels like this should have been fixed before the rollout of
the 5.8 kernel through HWE...

[Bug 1910871] Re: Ubuntu 21.04 QA Testing Release notes hyperlink opens to wrong page

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1910871/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]
