[Bug 1917283] Re: "The following packages have been kept back:" bionic requesting focal downloads

2021-02-28 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing
future users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

(Note: you've filed this is as a kernel bug (against the linux kernel)
but mention release-upgrade so I wonder if your intended package should
be ubuntu-release-upgrader, but a quick scan of your mentioned packages
shows numerous 3rd party packages that I don't see matching any
supported release of Ubuntu; so I'd suggest seeking support & possibly
using ppa-purge, but your description doesn't appear to be about a
kernel issue so I'm confused).

[Bug 1917289] [NEW] kcalc loosing values

2021-02-28 Thread Ulisse Thadeu Guedes
Public bug reported:

kcalc 4:19.12.3-0ubuntu1
Description:Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS
Release:20.04
kcalc:
  Installed: 4:19.12.3-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 4:19.12.3-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 4:19.12.3-0ubuntu1 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

One example: 45^2 + 30^2 + 3^2 = 2934 (right answer)

Using kcalc interface:
45 (x^2) + 30 (x^2) + 3 (x^2) = display shows 2034 (kcalc answer) (wrong answer)

Using [MS] and [M+] kcalc
45^2 [MS] | 30^2 [M+] | 3^2 [M+] | [MR] 2934 (right answer)

This bug was fixed on kcalc 20.08 (KDE) but with other dependencies.
Please! Fix it.

[Bug 1894867] Re: WiFi works on kernel version LL 115 but not LL 117

2021-02-28 Thread Michael F Winthrop
Since that time, I determined that the cause of this problem is that I
have two kernels for each kernel release: lowlatency and generic. The
upgrade puts the headers in for generic whether I am running lowlatency
when the silent upgrade takes place or do the upgrade in a terminal
window by hand. Therefore, the upgrade does not check to see if I have
the same release in both lowlatency and generic. I have to remember to
install the headers for lowlatency after any kernel update. Since the
header update includes virtualbox updates I analyze that this solves the
failed WiFi and Virtualbox corruption I found before I realized the
headers were not up to date. The failed WiFi and Virtualbox were
disguised because I could boot partially with previous low latency
headers but not correctly. The ethernet hid the WiFi problem.

I recommend that upgrades for kernels and headers be scripted for when
both lowlatency and generic (when present).

[Bug 1917288] [NEW] Missing to package ceph-kvstore-tool, ceph-monstore-tool, ceph-osdomap-tool in bionic-train UCA release

2021-02-28 Thread dongdong tao
Public bug reported:

ceph-kvstore-tool, ceph-monstore-tool, ceph-osdomap-tool were shipped
within ceph-test package, but the ceph-test package was dropped by [0] in
bionic-train UCA release.

I believe the reason is that most of the binaries (except those 3 tools)
in ceph-test package are meant for just testing and developing, they are
not needed for production env, so the idea to drop this package is good,
but those 3 tools were also dropped along with this package.

Those 3 tools are very important to troubleshoot production issues, so
we need to add them back.

Since Luminous, upstream realized that it doesn't make sense to put them
into ceph-test package, so they've moved those 3 tools to different
packages in PR[1].

So, to fix this, we should do the same as upstream, which is :

Move ceph-kvstore-tool to ceph-base package
Move ceph-monstore-tool to ceph-mon package
Move ceph-osdomap-tool to ceph-osd package

Worth mentioning that, upstream also added a PR[2] after [1] was landed
to fix an upgrade failure, it claims that [1] didn't update the
relationship between those packages accordingly, thus caused the upgrade
failure

Note that this only affects Train, Ussuri does contain those 3 tools.

[Bug 1917203] [NEW] AMD-Vi: Unable to read/write to IOMMU perf counter

2021-02-28 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

This boot warning (concealed by grub not taking over the fbcon console
on a solo installation but always present on a multi-boot) has been
bothering Linux users of AMD Ryzen machines for some time.

The problem is currently under discussion at kernel level
.

One solution proposed by Suravee Suthikulpanit

works but inserts a boot-up delay of (at least) 100 msec. A second
option by Alexander Monakov
 also works but
inserts no delay and more-or-less just moves one line of code.

I've tried both solutions with kernel rebuilds for both Breezy kernel
5.8.18 and Hirsute kernel 5.10.11 and both work on my AMD Ryzen 2400G.
Could I encourage your kernel experts to evaluate the situation (I think
SuSE folk already are).

My suggestion (as a humble user :-) ) would be to fold Alex's simple
patch into your own list of kernel tweeks and get the correction out
with the upcoming Hirsute release.

Best regards and all respect!

[Bug 1917283] Re: "The following packages have been kept back:" bionic requesting focal downloads

2021-02-28 Thread Michael F Winthrop
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

I am happily running Bionic 18.04 Kubuntu (all previous bugs resolved).
I decided to upgrade to Focal 20.04 and got a failure for an unsolvable
conflict. I discovered a ppa for xenial was the cause. I removed that
and then retried. (All my ppa were now for Bionic so it seemed safe)

As is visible, I am not able to upgrade to Focal elements because I am
running Bionic and I cannot upgrade Focal elements because the current
upgrade tree uses Bionic ppa. If I were to put Focal ppa in my
/etc/apt/sources.list there would likely be havoc!

- pulseaudio currently does not work so I am using alsa. I do not know haw
- many other Focal elements will emerge even if I can resolve these,
- Additionally, I do not know how to fix these anyhow.

[Bug 1917285] [NEW] paste works only if copying source twice when history count set to 1

2021-02-28 Thread PascalC
Public bug reported:

In order for keepass2 to work more securely, we have to set copy/paste
buffer history count to 1

If I set klipper to have an history count to one (see screen shot), then
the copy/paste behaviour is strange :

1. select something in a window with the mouse
2. do ctrl-c to copy
3. change window
4. try to paste

Nothing happens.

Do the same 1.2.3.4 again : this time the paste works

In fact for each new string to copy, you have to do ctrl-c twice in
order for it to be pastable in another window.

Is this really the correct behaviour when copy/paste history count is
set to 1 ?

[Bug 1893563] Re: netplan: can't login to ap mode with psk

2021-02-28 Thread Mathew Hodson
network-manager (1.30.0-1ubuntu1) hirsute; urgency=medium

  * Resynchronize on Debian, remaining changes:
- Use systemd-resolved instead of dnsmasq
- debian/control:
+ Depend on isc-dhcp-client instead of recommends
  + Recommend network-manager-pptp
  + Suggest avahi-autoipd for IPv4LL support
- debian/rules, debian/network-manager.postinst:
+ Don't restart NetworkManager on upgrade but recommend restarting
the computer
- debian/rules, debian/network-manager.postinst:
+ Don't install sysvinit scripts or migrate from sysvinit
- debian/network-manager.postinst:
+ Don't add the netdev group.
+ drop in an empty override file for NetworkManager to manage all
devices for upgrade from any version, as long as there is no
netplan configuration yet.
- debian/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf, debian/rules:
+ Install a config file to enable WiFi powersave
- Enable build tests
- Add autopkgtests
- debian/source_network-manager.py, debian/network-manager.install,
  debian/network-manager.links: Add apport hook
- Add network-manager-config-connectivity-ubuntu package
- NetworkManager.conf: disable MAC randomization feature. There is no
easy way for desktop users to disable this feature yet. And there are
reports that it doesn't work well with some systems.
- Update Vcs links to point to Ubuntu branch
- Add patches. See patch descriptions for more details:
  + Provide-access-to-some-of-NM-s-interfaces-to-whoopsie.patch
  + Update-dnsmasq-parameters.patch
  + Disable-general-with-expect.patch
  + libnm-Check-self-still-NMManager-or-not.patch
  + dns-manager-don-t-merge-split-DNS-search-domains.patch (but disabled)
  + Read-system-connections-from-run.patch
- debian/tests/urfkill-integration - don't stop/start network manager
- debian/patches/ubuntu_revert_systemd.patch:
+ temporarly revert an upstream commit that made udev enabled under lxc,
the new systemd doesn't work there (lp: #1914062)

[Bug 1915175] Re: wifi network stops working and shows a green wifi icon

2021-02-28 Thread Gustavo Wills
** Description changed:

I recently started using ubuntu 20.04, I connected it to my 2.4ghz Wi-Fi, at
first the wifi worked fine, but suddenly the wifi stopped connecting, and after
a few seconds it said "unable to activate network". I checked the "additional
drivers tab" and it showed my wifi adapter, but it said "this device is using
an alternate driver".
right now I'm using my 5ghz Wi-Fi network, but sometimes it happens that it
stops working, usually after suspend.

UPDATE #1: Apparently it's working now, I suppose it's from an update.
  Anyways I guess it's fixed.

  UPDATE #2: it's broken again

UPDATE #3: after checking the error a long time I've realized that this
error happens when I leave it suspended it for a long time, it is fixed
by doing about 3-4 restarts. I'm going to try to use a code that
restarts the network-service after suspend, I'll see if it works.
+
+ UPDATE #4 (probably final update): the error can be fixed temporarily by
+ turning off the router,i'm going to contact my network provider to see
+ if the error can be fixed by configuring the router.

[Bug 1917283] [NEW] "The following packages have been kept back:" bionic requesting focal downloads

2021-02-28 Thread Michael F Winthrop
Public bug reported:

I am happily running Bionic 18.04 Kubuntu (all previous bugs resolved).
I decided to upgrade to Focal 20.04 and got a failure for an unsolvable
conflict. I discovered a ppa for xenial was the cause. I removed that
and then retried. (All my ppa were now for Bionic so it seemed safe)

sudo do-release-upgrade
Checking for a new Ubuntu release
Please install all available updates for your release before upgrading.

On "sudo apt update" I discovered that numerous pulseaudio applications
and dependencies were a problem:"The following packages have been kept
back:"

pulseaudio-utils/bionic 1:11.1-1ubuntu7 amd64

As is visible, I am not able to upgrade to Focal elements because I am
running Bionic and I cannot upgrade Focal elements because the current
upgrade tree uses Bionic ppa. If I were to put Focal ppa in my
/etc/apt/sources.list there would likely be havoc!

pulseaudio currently does not work so I am using alsa. I do not know haw
many other Focal elements will emerge even if I can resolve these,
Additionally, I do not know how to fix these anyhow.
