Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it
will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1917713

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

If a snapped version of chromium-browser, this could be duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1917705

Sorry, I was imagining a different error screen and couldn't see that

that's it...

Since there doesn't seem to be any crash there's no longer any reason to
keep this separate from bug 1917178.

[Bug 1917715] [NEW] MiniUPnPD and netfilter incompatability

2021-03-03 Thread Bill Williamson
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 20.10
Release:20.10

In short: miniupnpd daemon's code talks to old school iptables to build
dynamic firewall rules. Ubuntu uses netfilter, and thus old school
iptables rules are managed using iptables-legacy. This means the daemon
never sees the chains it's created via command line, and breaks things
and makes it not work.

In longer:
I have set up a router on RPi4 using ubuntu server 20.10. Standard setup using
a few iptables rules to set up MASQ, allow inbound for existing connections,
etc. Using dnsmasq for dns and dhcp. It all works great.

Now I want to add UPnP for xboxes/etc, I installed miniupnpd and it
starts up nicely but doesn't actually work. So I did some
investigating.

The setup file for miniupnpd uses iptables or ip6tables to create
chains. This creates the chains (you can verify with iptables -S), but
when the miniupnpd daemon tries to find them you get the error "chain
MINIUPNPD not found".

I fixed the issue by hardcoding the config file to use "iptables-legacy"
as the setup command. (it seems to have attached to this bug report?)

A better fix is for upstream to use the netfilter APIs for talking to
chains/tables/etc, but my hacky fix at least makes the package work as
expected.

(my understanding is that iptables interface is deprecated and will be gone in
the future?).

Thanks, happy to provide any other info.

[Bug 1789177] Re: RabbitMQ fails to synchronize exchanges under high load

2021-03-03 Thread Seyeong Kim
Testing with only 1st patch didn't work , I was able to see the same error as
the description in this LP
Testing with 1st and 3rd with manual configuration(enable_cancel_on_failover =
True ) showed me different error
( mentnioned above )

The different error is happening less time than I assume.

So I think this can be next action but it is not perfect.
1. Patch 1st and 3rd commit,
2. And patch charms ( to set enable_cancel_on_failover )
3. Then handle different error with different LP bug ( if there is )
(above queens and bionic patch has commit #1 and #3 )

Please give some advices if you have any idea.

Thanks.

[Bug 1917705] Re: profile will be deleted

2021-03-03 Thread Christian Hujer
BTW even if this is deprecation and removal, this is severely broken: It
deletes a user's profile data without asking the user for consent to the
deletion of the same. A hypothetical argument that stuff can be restored
because the account is synchronized is invalid: recent local profile
data that was not synchronized yet, for example from being offline, is
also deleted in the process, without the user's consent. In some
countries, this is actually rated a criminal offence by cybercrime laws.

[Bug 1917705] Re: profile will be deleted

2021-03-03 Thread Christian Hujer
@guiverc It may indeed be deprecations and removals, which sucks. I just
think that 88 isn't the first version with the problem, it's 89.

* snap 1497 is chromium 88 and works fine.
* snap 1506 is chromium 89 has the issue.
* chrome 89 on Linux works fine.

I've just downloaded and installed Chromium build 659458 for Windows 10.
That is Chromium 91. And it has the same issue.

[Bug 1900978] Re: Testcase for Screen-reader installation has shortcut (Super+1) that does not work in Ubuntu MATE

2021-03-03 Thread Sai Vinoba
Still affected by this. Testing Ubuntu MATE 20210304 ISO.

As mentioned in #5, Super+1 does not work like say Ctrl+C would. What works is,
pressing in sequence as below:
- Super (have to release key, not keep holding it. screen reader reads,
'Window...Text...Type to Search')
- 1 (installer now shows up as search result)
- Return/Enter (installer starts).

What I'm asking is UM's test case should be re-phrased to match this.

[Bug 1917705] Re: profile will be deleted

2021-03-03 Thread Chris Guiver
I fear this is the consequence of an announced google chrome/chromium
change, and will not be changed (in fact the API is being removed in the
not too distant future and this is just the start of the the changes
announced with
https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2020/12/chrome-88-deps-rems)

Note - this is opinion only.

[Bug 1181666] Re: gnome-shell randomly blocks mouse clicks from working in app windows

2021-03-03 Thread Daniel van Vugt
There are enough comments above suggesting the bug also occurs in Xorg
sessions. Wayland does not seem to be the cause.

That said, this bug is now 8 years old so it's reasonably likely that it
has had multiple different causes (really multiple different bugs) over
the years.

[Bug 1917705] [NEW] profile will be deleted

2021-03-03 Thread Christian Hujer
Public bug reported:

After updating the chromium-browser snap from 1497 to 1506, Chromium
refuses to work with profiles that are linked to Google accounts. Each
of them is deleted whenever first opening it. And turning on profile
synchronization does not work.

See the attached file for a screenshot of the issue.

Workaround:
1. Kill the current chromium process.
2. Revert the snap back to an older version.
Warning 1: Running on an older version of Chromium comes at its own issues.
Warning 2: Any already deleted profile will not be restored by going back to an
older version of Chromium. You will have to create and link the profile again.

This bug is severe and means that Chromium has become unusable in a
professional environment.

"We also need:"

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using
$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS
Release:20.04
Codename: focal

2) The version of the package you are using
$ snap list chromium
Name VersionRev Tracking Publisher Notes
chromium 89.0.4389.72 1506 latest/stable canonical* -

3) What you expected to happen
Chromium works as usual, linked profiles work, new profiles can be linked to
sync with Google accounts.

4) What happened instead
Chromium cannot work with linked profiles. Existing profiles from older
versions of Chromium that are linked to sync with a Google account are deleted
upon start, and the feature of linking a profile to a Google account for
syncing is broken.

** Affects: chromium-browser (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Attachment added: "Screenshot of chromium snap 1506 after start, about to

[Bug 1917175] Re: gdm login screen says "Something went wrong please try again" three times and sends me back to the login screen when I'm not typing anything

2021-03-03 Thread Daniel van Vugt
"Something went wrong please try again" means something crashed. And
different machines with different configurations will experience
different crashes. We need to know which crash you are experiencing.

If you're not interested in going through the crash reporting
instructions, that's OK - we can ignore the crashes and just focus on
bug 1917178 instead.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 1916827] Re: Update libgweather to v40

2021-03-03 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I'm not in a hurry. This was intended more for 21.10, not 21.04. We are
on 3.36.1 right now which is the latest stable release. But
unfortunately the diff from that to master is huge, so I don't think
it's something we should force into hirsute.

[Bug 1917324] Re: right click on desktop 'open in terminal' option missing

2021-03-03 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I didn't realize Ubuntu had switched to gnome-shell-extension-desktop-
icons-ng while I was away, but it's disabled by default after upgrades.
So yes "Open in Terminal" does exist there.

It still makes no sense for the case without extensions (gnome-shell
task) because there is no context to be opened in a terminal there. The
'Desktop' folder is meaningless in that case so opening it in a terminal
is also meaningless.

I will update all the tasks with the correct status at the top of this
page now...

I'll attach the output of journalctl -b0 > journal.txt

Note that the times seem a bit off to me. They seem to say I started the
update at 19:16:46, but according to journal.txt I ran `apt update` at
19:15:52. I think I ran `apt upgrade` earlier than 19:16:46 because the
first stack trace for gnome-shell is at 19:16:21.

One other odd thing is that while I got a new gnome login prompt fairly
quickly, it took me about half a dozen login attempts before I could
successfully login. I didn't get any errors; rather, the screen would go
blank and then I'd get the login prompt again.

There was nothing new under /var/crash, nor under
https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID.

[Bug 1820083] Re: TLS params not set for session

2021-03-03 Thread Heather Lemon
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

A connection session is opened, but the TLS parameters (timeout, ca,
cert and key) are not actually set for the session. This prevents use
of TLS for the etcd3gw package.

  [Test Plan]

- There are two test workflows to follow.
- - testing the patch with self signed certs and etcd server running locally
- - running newly created unit tests for TLS params
- -
  # Create self signed certs

  openssl req -x509 -out localhost.crt -keyout localhost.key -newkey rsa:4096
-nodes -sha256 -out localhost.csr
*make sure the key has an empty password

#download binaries & launch etcd locally with TLS enabled

  wget https://github.com/etcd-
  io/etcd/releases/download/v3.3.13/etcd-v3.3.13-linux-amd64.tar.gz

  tar -zxvf etcd-v3.3.14-linux-amd64.tar.gz

  cd etcd-v3.3.14-linux-amd64/
  sudo cp etcd etcdctl /usr/bin/

  # spin up ectd server
  etcd --name infra0 --data-dir infra0 --cert-file=localhost.crt
--key-file=localhost.key --advertise-client-urls=https://127.0.0.1:2379
--listen-client-urls=https://127.0.0.1:2379
*note I named my directory infra0

  #test connection with health endpoint:

  curl --cacert localhost.crt --key localhost.key --cert localhost.crt
  https://127.0.0.1:2379/health

#if successful, the etcd server is configured with https
  {"health": "true"}

- View test changes inside of ~/python-
- etcd3gw-0.2.1/etcd3gw/tests/test_client.py
+ Modify ~/python-etcd3gw-0.2.1/etcd3gw/tests/test_client.py

- Run the newly added unit test, or run the whole test suite with:
- python3 unittest
+ def test_client_tls(self):
+ client = Etcd3Client(host="127.0.0.1", protocol="https",
ca_cert="/root/etcdserver.crt", cert_key="/root/etcdserver.key",
+ cert_cert="/root/etcdserver.crt", timeout=10)
+ client.create("foo", value="bar")
+ client.get("foo")
+
+ # Run the newly added unit test

  python3 -m unittest test_client.TestEtcd3Gateway.test_client_tls

We get an error in both the unit test and an error from the etcd server
unit test error we are looking for:

  OpenSSL.SSL.Error: [('SSL routines', 'tls_process_server_certificate',
'certificate verify failed')] related etcd error: I | embed: rejected
connection from "127.0.0.1:44244" (error "remote error: tls: bad
  certificate", ServerName "")

If you are testing with the added unit test, then make sure there is no
  etcd server running already.

  Unit test console output:

  python3 -m unittest test_client.TestEtcd3Gateway.test_client_tls

+ The unit test I've made is an echo of the test_client.py code we've just
updated.
+
+ #
+ Testing out the new unit test from the source code changes.
+
+ I have added a new unit test that tests the setting of TLS params.
+ You can run the unit test with:
+
+ python3 -m unittest
+
+ again make sure there's no etcd server already running.
+

  [Where Problems Could Occur]
-
- -failed tls connections
- -failed unit tests

This adds TLS parameters (if provided) to the session, so regressions
would involve failed connections, possibly those without TLS that had
  TLS params incorrectly provided before.
-
- Unit test failures. Created a new unit test for testing the TLS session
- parameters. This also creates a mock etcd server to connect and test
- certification information of self signed certs.

  [Other]

  the upstream bug is https://github.com/dims/etcd3-gateway/issues/20
fixed upstream with pull request https://github.com/dims/etcd3-gateway/pull/21
  via commit 90b7a19cdc4daa1230d7f15c10b113abdefdc8c0

that commit is contained in version 0.2.2, which is not yet pulled into
Debian, so this patch is needed in Debian, as well as Bionic and Focal.
This package was not included in Xenial.

[Bug 1915547] Re: Users are prompted by ucf on upgrade from Trusty to Xenial

2021-03-03 Thread Chad Smith
> For this SRU, I'd therefore expect to see being added only the hashes
involved in the specific issue being fixed - presumably only one -
rather than 117. Usually the above never comes up, but I think it's
relevant when there are 117, rather than the one or two entries that are
common.

Agreed Robie, I think this project needs that release-specific set of
md5sums to add. Lucas will limit this SRU to just the needed md5sum for
trusty -> xenial to avoid prompting.

Ultimately I'd like to track an upstream bug for the md5sum filtering
per release because there are 5 different versions of 50unattended-
upgrades for Debian/Raspbian/SteamOS/Devuan and the tooling to generate
these md5sum files should be distribution and release aware. This is
risk that we don't want to inadvertently add to this SRU.

So, let's track that upstream feature as LP:# 1917677

I think you are right that a subset of md5sums should be

[Bug 1917677] [NEW] ubuntu: ucf tracking of valid known md5sums should be limited to only those md5sums that affect a given distro release

2021-03-03 Thread Chad Smith
Public bug reported:

Currently the project tracks all valid md5sums of permutations of
50unattended-upgrades.conf in a single md5sum file that contains every
md5sum of every historic version of all unique distros:

 50unattended-upgrades.Debian
 50unattended-upgrades.Devuan
 50unattended-upgrades.Raspbian
 50unattended-upgrades.Ubuntu

Ultimately ucf for a given packaging release should only track the
applicable md5sums which are expected to be seen on that particular
distribution and release.

For example:
On Ubuntu Bionic: valid md5sums should be limited to the md5sum of the most
recent Ubuntu Xenial 50unattended-upgrades.conf and the md5sums of previous
Ubuntu Bionic releases to allow Xenial->Bionic and Bionic->Bionic upgrades
without prompt.

[Bug 1917676] [NEW] dropped into initramfs after update on March 1

2021-03-03 Thread Sergio Schvezov
Public bug reported:

This is the system I was running when it happened:

- Kubuntu 20.10 install with default encryption settings (LUKS, whole disk)
- upgrade to 21.04
- on Monday March 1 2021 an lvm2 update came in
- after a reboot, get dropped into initramfs

I am attaching a screenshot of the initramfs prompt reproduced by a
colleague. I have since wiped the system as it is my main work machine.
The data itself was not corrupted (could still mount the
partitions/volumes).

I would suspect the issue is brought by
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/lvm2_2.03.11-2ubuntu1_2.03.11-2ubuntu2.diff.gz
which is a debdiff hidden by the no change rebuild that happened after.

** Affects: lvm2 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Confirmed

** Attachment added: "initramfs.jpg"
