[Bug 1926398] [NEW] Nautilus doesn't show folder name in Operations dialog

2021-04-27 Thread Sergey Zolotarev
Public bug reported:

When I copy a directory from one disk to another, Nautilus won't show
its name next to the progress bar. It simply says "Copying N files to
diskName".

I think it should say something like: "Copying N files in directoryName
to diskName".

Reason:

When you copy 2 big directories with a lot of files to the same
destination and want to know which one is which, you can't differentiate
between them since the directory name is not shown. If you want to
cancel one of them, you also don't know which X button to click.

See my attached screenshot.

[Bug 1926395] Re: apagado inesperado

2021-04-27 Thread Steve Langasek
Translation: unexpected shutdown

I'm using my notebook and suddenly it shuts down, on trying to boot it
it spends several minutes with a black screen and then a white flash and
it repeats 3 times, then the purple image shows up and stays there for
several minutes and finally the user shows up

This is not a bug in ubiquity, which is the installer for Ubuntu. It may be a
kernel issue, so I'm reassigning this bug report to the linux package.
However, the most likely explanation for the behavior shown would be a hardware
failure.

No problem. Actually it's apparent from your series of steps that you
did pay a lot of attention and have studied the related documentation.

As regards the request to approve your team, I will take care of it but
only when the language has been registered at Launchpad.

[Bug 1914878] Re: At boot on Pi4 with 20.04.02 i get: Failed to load '//uboot/ubuntu/boot.sel'

2021-04-27 Thread Rui Song
Inspired by #7. Tried to reset advanced options in raspberry Pi imager
and rewrite Ubuntu. It was able to boot. I guess there're something
wrong with setting options via RPI for Ubuntu. Probably this is not a
bug for ubuntu but RPI.

[Bug 1926393] [NEW] xdg-mime silently ignores invalid .desktop file

2021-04-27 Thread Duncan Bayne
Public bug reported:

I created an invalid ~/.local/share/applications/mailto.desktop file
(note the quotes in Exec):

#!/usr/bin/env xdg-open
[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Terminal=false
Name[en_AU]=mailto
Exec="mailto %f"
Name=mailto

I then set the default, and queried it:

$ xdg-mime default mailto.desktop 'x-scheme-handler/mailto'
$ echo $?
0
$ xdg-mime query default 'x-scheme-handler/mailto'
thunderbird.desktop
$ echo $?
0

As you can see, no error codes are returned, but the system default
application is returned.

If I fix the mailto.desktop file by removing the quotes, the query
performs as expected:

$ xdg-mime query default 'x-scheme-handler/mailto'
mailto.desktop

Running in verbose mode doesn't give any further information, i.e., that
the .desktop file was passed over in search because it was invalid:

[Bug 1926205] Re: graphic interface faulty

2021-04-27 Thread arturpio
Confirmation: with Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS everything works just fine,
smooth, fast, sound and brilliant, as usual.

Boot is fast and left side dock loads instantly.
Touch screen + mouse - no problem.
Dynamic work-spaces - no any problem.

Even "contacts" Gnome application connect to Google account, which is
not done under 21.04

so, the problems are really somewhere in the 21.04 release; HP ENVY x360
hardware platform (AMD® Ryzen 5 4500u with Radeon graphics, AMD® Renoir)
is ok and compatible.

if I can do something to help debug this problem, please message me.

[Bug 1926254] Re: x509 Certificate verification fails when basicConstraints=CA:FALSE, pathlen:0 on self-signed leaf certs

2021-04-27 Thread Matthew Ruffell
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

  In openssl 1.1.1f, the below commit was merged:

  commit ba4356ae4002a04e28642da60c551877eea804f7
  Author: Bernd Edlinger
  Date:   Sat Jan 4 15:54:53 2020 +0100
  Subject: Fix error handling in x509v3_cache_extensions and related functions
  Link:
https://github.com/openssl/openssl/commit/ba4356ae4002a04e28642da60c551877eea804f7

  This introduced a regression which caused certificate validation to fail
  when certificates violate RFC 5280 [1], namely, when a certificate has
  "basicConstraints=CA:FALSE,pathlen:0". This combination is commonly seen
  by self-signed leaf certificates with an intermediate CA before the root
  CA.

  Because of this, openssl 1.1.1f rejects these certificates and they
  cannot be used in the system certificate store, and ssl connections fail
  when you try to use them to connect to a ssl endpoint.

  The error you see when you try verify is:

  $ openssl verify -CAfile CA/rootCA_cert.pem -untrusted CA/subCA_cert.pem
user1_cert.pem
  error 20 at 0 depth lookup: unable to get local issuer certificate
  error user1_cert.pem: verification failed

  The exact same certificates work fine on Xenial, Bionic and Hirsute.

  [1] https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5280.html

  [Testcase]

  We will create our own root CA, intermediate CA and leaf server
  certificate.

  Create necessary directories:

  $ mkdir reproducer
  $ cd reproducer
  $ mkdir CA

  Write openssl configuration files to disk for each CA and cert:

  $ cat << EOF >> rootCA.cnf
  [ req ]
  prompt  = no
  distinguished_name  = req_distinguished_name
  x509_extensions = usr_cert

  [ req_distinguished_name ]
  C  = DE
  O  = Test Org
  CN = Test RSA PSS Root-CA

  [ usr_cert ]
  basicConstraints= critical,CA:TRUE
  keyUsage= critical,keyCertSign,cRLSign
  subjectKeyIdentifier= hash
  authorityKeyIdentifier  = keyid:always
  EOF

  $ cat << EOF >> subCA.cnf
  [ req ]
  prompt  = no
  distinguished_name  = req_distinguished_name
  x509_extensions = usr_cert

  [ req_distinguished_name ]
  C  = DE
  O  = Test Org
  CN = Test RSA PSS Sub-CA

  [ usr_cert ]
  basicConstraints= critical,CA:TRUE,pathlen:0
  keyUsage= critical,keyCertSign,cRLSign
  subjectKeyIdentifier= hash
  authorityKeyIdentifier  = keyid:always
  EOF

  $ cat << EOF >> user.cnf
  [ req ]
  prompt  = no
  distinguished_name  = req_distinguished_name
  x509_extensions = usr_cert

  [ req_distinguished_name ]
  C  = DE
  O  = Test Org
  CN = Test User

  [ usr_cert ]
  basicConstraints= critical,CA:FALSE,pathlen:0
  keyUsage= critical,digitalSignature,keyAgreement
  extendedKeyUsage= clientAuth,serverAuth
  subjectKeyIdentifier= hash
  authorityKeyIdentifier  = keyid:always
  EOF

  Then generate the necessary RSA keys and form certificates:

  $ openssl genpkey -algorithm RSA-PSS -out rootCA_key.pem -pkeyopt
rsa_keygen_bits:2048
  $ openssl req -config rootCA.cnf -set_serial 01 -new -batch -sha256 -nodes
-x509 -days 9125 -out CA/rootCA_cert.pem -key rootCA_key.pem -sigopt
rsa_padding_mode:pss -sigopt rsa_pss_saltlen:-1

  $ openssl genpkey -algorithm RSA-PSS -out subCA_key.pem -pkeyopt
rsa_keygen_bits:2048
  $ openssl req -config subCA.cnf -new -out subCA_req.pem -key subCA_key.pem
-sigopt rsa_padding_mode:pss -sigopt rsa_pss_saltlen:-1
  $ openssl x509 -req -sha256 -in subCA_req.pem -CA CA/rootCA_cert.pem -CAkey
rootCA_key.pem -out CA/subCA_cert.pem -CAserial rootCA_serial.txt
-CAcreateserial -extfile subCA.cnf -extensions usr_cert -days 4380 -sigopt
rsa_padding_mode:pss -sigopt rsa_pss_saltlen:-1
  $ c_rehash CA

  $ openssl genpkey -algorithm RSA-PSS -out user1_key.pem -pkeyopt
rsa_keygen_bits:2048
  $ openssl req -config user.cnf -new -out user1_req.pem -key user1_key.pem
-sigopt rsa_padding_mode:pss -sigopt rsa_pss_saltlen:-1
  $ openssl x509 -req -sha256 -in user1_req.pem -CA CA/subCA_cert.pem -CAkey
subCA_key.pem -out user1_cert.pem -CAserial subCA_serial.txt -CAcreateserial
-extfile user.cnf -extensions usr_cert -days 1825 -sigopt rsa_padding_mode:pss
-sigopt rsa_pss_saltlen:-1

  Now, let's try verify the generated certificates:

  $ openssl version
  OpenSSL 1.1.1f  31 Mar 2020
  $ openssl verify -CAfile CA/rootCA_cert.pem -untrusted CA/subCA_cert.pem
user1_cert.pem
  error 20 at 0 depth lookup: unable to get local issuer certificate
  error user1_cert.pem: verification failed

  There are test packages available in the following ppa:

  https://launchpad.net/~mruffell/+archive/ubuntu/sf308725-test

  If you install these test packages, and attempt to verify, things work
  as planned.

+ $ openssl verify -CAfile CA/rootCA_cert.pem -untrusted CA/subCA_cert.pem
user1_cert.pem
+ user1_cert.pem: OK
+
  [Where problems could occur]

  If a regression were to occur, it would occur around x509

[Bug 1926236] Re: Fix The sound has noise while audio volume is maximum

2021-04-27 Thread koba
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
  The sound has noise while turning the audio volume to maximum

  [Fix]
  For VEGA & Polaris, need two patches(landed on mainline kernel) to fix and a
modprobe
  1.(50ceb1fe7a) drm/amd/pm: bug fix for pcie dpm, has landed on oem kernel.
  2.(9d03730ecb) drm/amd/pm: workaround for audio noise issue, has landed on
oem kernel
  3. #modprobe amdgpu ppfeaturemask=0xfff7bffb.
  For Navi_1x, need smc firmware to fix.
  1. (4fe6e53b96 linux-firmware) amdgpu: update navi10 SMC firmware
  1. (8ab7abaf63 linux-firmware) amdgpu: update navi14 SMC firmware

  [Test]
- Verified on RKL platform with wx3200(Polaris series) and wx5500(Navi series).
+ Verified on RKL platform
+ A. with wx3200(Polaris series) and the following configuration

+ 1. With these two patch,

+ 1.1. (50ceb1fe7a) drm/amd/pm: bug fix for pcie dpm, has landed on oem kernel.

+ 1.2. (9d03730ecb) drm/amd/pm: workaround for audio noise issue, has landed on
oem kernel
+

+ 2. doesn't append ppfeaturemask=0xfff7bffb

+

+ Can't observe issue.

+

+ B. With wx5500(Navi series) and update the related firmware,

+ Can't observe issue

  [Where problems could occur]
  Because disabling DPM, the power consumption would be slightly higher.

[Bug 1900438] Re: Bcache bypasse writeback on caching device with fragmentation

2021-04-27 Thread dongdong tao
I used the same steps to verify it and can confirm it's succeeded in
bionic-proposed too

fio --name=test1 --filename /dev/bcache0 --direct 1 --rw=randrw
--bs=32k,4k --ioengine=libaio --iodepth=1

Then I monitoring the cache_available_percent and writeback rate.
I no longer see the cache_available_percent dropped to 30 and writeback rate
stucked at 4k.
I can see the rate got accelerated while the dirty buckets hit the
writeback_rate_*_fp_term, which is expected

[Bug 1926373] Re: Missing header files for Qt3DExtras:

2021-04-27 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1926373/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

The attached patch enables Bluetooth on the new Pi 400, and CM4
hardware.

** Description changed:

  [Impact]

   * Without the pi-bluetooth changes in hirsute, bluetooth will not work
- on the Pi 4, 400 or CM4.
+ on the Pi 400 or CM4.

  [Test Case]

-  * Boot the Ubuntu Server for Pi 20.04 image on a Raspberry Pi 4.
+  * Boot the Ubuntu Server for Pi 20.04 image on a Raspberry Pi 400.
   * Verify the command `bluetoothctl devices` fails with the
     error "No default controller available"
-  * Repeat the above steps for the Pi 400 and CM4
+  * Repeat the above steps for the CM4

  [Regression Potential]

  There are multiple changes being SRU'd, but since the linux-firmware-
  raspi2 and bluez packages are also being SRUd, the risk of regression
  should be fairly low. These changes have worked well in hirsute for some
  time.

[Bug 1926379] [NEW] stack smashing attack detected in bash host tab completion

2021-04-27 Thread Seth Arnold
Public bug reported:

Hello, this is a speculative bug report at best.

In some long-lived bash terminals, tab completion of hostnames on ping
or ssh commands is printing the glibc stack smashing attempt error
message:

$ ping goog*** stack smashing detected ***: terminated
^C
$ ssh local*** stack smashing detected ***: terminated
host ^C

I installed the glibc update 2.31-0ubuntu9.3
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/focal-changes/2021-April/024256.html
earlier today. Shells started *after* this update work fine. Shells
started before this update show this behaviour.

[Bug 1926216] Re: drag and select does not work correctly on one monitor

2021-04-27 Thread john
I have the same issue and can add the following info which is hopefully
useful.

My setup is 3 1920x1080 monitors.

When I try a mouse click operation on the left most monitor then
everything behaves correctly.

When I try the same on the middle monitor the selected horizontal region
is larger (as shown in the video). It appears to be extended (right of
the cursor) by the width of the monitor (i.e. 1920 pixels).

When I try the same on the right most monitor the selected horizontal
region extends off the screen (and I can't tell how far) but also the
vertical selection is extended down by what appears to be the height of
the monitor / 2 (i.e. 540).

[Bug 1926321] Re: [MIR] telegraf

2021-04-27 Thread Sergio Durigan Junior
** Description changed:

  [ Availability ]

  The telegraf package has been part of Ubuntu's universe repository
  since Groovy. It successfully builds and the tests pass on all
  supported architectures: amd64, arm64, armhf, ppc64el, riscv64 and
  s390x.

  [ Rationale ]

  Telegraf is part of a suite of programs referred to as LMA (Logging,
  Monitoring and Alert). It is responsible for the Logging; prometheus,
  prometheus-alertmanager and grafana are the other components of this
  solution.

  We, the Ubuntu Server team, have been maintaining the package for the
  last several months, and we now would like to proceed with the MIR
  process for it.

  The telegraf package is being used as the building block of the
  equivalent telegraf OCI image (see
  https://hub.docker.com/repository/docker/ubuntu/telegraf), which is an
  official image provided and supported by Canonical.

  It is important to also note that the security team is already
  providing tracking and notification of potential vulnerabilities and
  CVEs on this OCI image, which means that, indirectly, the Ubuntu
  telegraf package is already being treated more or less as a main
  package.

  [ Security ]

  Unfortunately, due to the large number of unpackaged Golang
  dependencies, it was not possible to package telegraf in Debian first
  and then sync it to Ubuntu. For this reason, the Ubuntu telegraf
  package contains hundreds of vendorized Golang dependencies inside its
  orig tarball.

  I could not find any CVEs for telegraf itself on http://cve.mitre.org/
  (the only thing I found was related to telegraf's official OCI image,
  which does not apply to this MIR).

  While analysing the Golang dependencies, I have found the following
  CVEs:

  - For github.com/dgrijalva/jwt-go/v4:

  https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2020-26160

  This vulnerability does not affect the current version that is in
  Hirsute/Impish.

  - For github.com/gogo/protobuf:

  https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2021-3121

  This vulnerability is being addressed at the time of this writing,
  both by upstream and by us.

  - For github.com/hashicorp/consul:

  https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2020-7219
  https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2018-19653
  https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2020-28053
  https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2020-13250

  These vulnerabilities do affect the current version in Hirsute/Impish,
  but they are not trivial to fix and we are working with upstream to
  address them.

  - For github.com/prometheus/prometheus/

  https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2019-3826

- These vulnerability does affect the current version in Hirsute/Impish,
- but it is not trivial to fix and we are working with upstream to
- address it.
+ These vulnerability does *not* affect the latest upstream version of
+ telegraf, which is being packaged for Impish.

  [ Quality Assurance ]

  - The package is installed with a reasonable configuration file and
-   a proper systemd service.
+   a proper systemd service.

  - It does not ask any debconf questions during installation.

  - There are no long-term outstanding bugs that affect the usability of
-   the program.
+   the program.

  - The package is not available in Debian, so there is no bug there.

  - The only bug opened against the Ubuntu telegraf package right now is
- the one dealing with CVE-2021-3121.
+   the one dealing with CVE-2021-3121.

  - The package is well-maintained in Ubuntu by the Ubuntu Server team.

  - The package does not deal with exotic hardware that is not supported
- by Ubuntu. It does offer probes and code to deal with some optional
- hardware that may be installed in the user's computer, but by
- default this support is disabled in the configuration file.
+   by Ubuntu. It does offer probes and code to deal with some optional

  - The package provides a debian/watch file.

  - The package is lintian-free (including with --pedantic).

  [ UI standards ]

  N/A

  [ Dependencies ]

  As it is a Golang package, the telegraf binary is statically compiled
  and doesn't depend on anything else other than libc6. The only extra
  dependency that was added (due to the postinst script) is adduser,
  which is also in main.

  [ Standards compliance ]

  The package follows FHS and Debian Policy standards to the maximum
  extent. The only clear violation to the policy, as mentioned above,
  is the fact that all Golang modules are vendorized (bundled) in the
  source package.  Otherwise,

[Bug 1926373] [NEW] Missing header files for Qt3DExtras:

2021-04-27 Thread Tom Wimmenhove
Public bug reported:

Unable to build most examples contained in the qt3d5-examples (and, of
course, any code that relies on Qt3DExtras). This is caused by a missing
development package with headers for Qt3DExtras.

The Qt3DExtras binary library (libQt53DExtras.so) is included in the
qt3d5-dev package, but all the Qt3DExtras header files are missing
(Qt3DExtras/QForwardRenderer, Qt3DExtras/QPhongMaterial, etc...). This
makes QT OpenGL development in Ubuntu pretty much unusable.

At first, installing mssql-mlservices-python and manually copying it's
version of the Qt3DExtras headers seemed to be a work-around, but it
resulted in undefined references during linking.

I would have tagged "qt3d5-examples" in the "In what package did you
find this bug?", but it tells me that the package doesn't exist in
ubuntu, whereas https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/qt3d5-examples clearly
lists it

[Bug 1926205] Re: graphic interface faulty

2021-04-27 Thread arturpio
even running with only 1 workspace enabled, the things degrade slowly.

After some time of use, the program windows do not react to the mouse clicks
(close, reduce..).
Then, no any mouse click give any effect.
One solution is to reboot using shell or, even worst - the off button.

I reverse to 20.04.2.0 LTS to check if the problems are coming from the
hardware, or OS version.

Honestly I did not submit the request through launchpad. I post it using

And yes, we are aware that we are translating not just Ubuntu. But we
will translate as much as we can. And there will be translators. I just
start preparing the working environment.

Thank you.

[Bug 1926280] Please test proposed package

2021-04-27 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Kai-Chuan, or anyone else affected,

Accepted iio-sensor-proxy into focal-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/iio-sensor-
proxy/2.8-1ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.
