[Bug 1931244] Re: ovn sriov broken from ussuri onwards
Terry, while I'd love it if Neutron had completed the migration to using OVN services and database for everything as a replacement for the AMQP RPC and agent infrastructure, the reality is that this is not (yet) the case. For the SR-IOV use case the OVN driver owns ports and provides DHCP- and Metadata- services to the consumers of the sriovnicsiwtch mechanism driver. At this point in time the sriovnicswitch driver still relies on an agent and RPC. The RPC code does indeed read and update ports and subsequently will call into the OVN driver. Thank you for the pointer to the RpcWorker class name. I will put up a proposal for how we could conditionally add OVN IDL connections to the RPC Workers gated on the presence of the sriovnicswitch driver. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1931244 Title: ovn sriov broken from ussuri onwards To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-archive/+bug/1931244/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1930995] Re: snapd too heavy for lubuntu
snapd could be changed not to be run all the time: the `snap` command could start snapd if it's not running, and this would address the first and third points mentioned by Ian (because when a snap program is run, what is first executed is actually /usr/bin/snap), and it should be possible to handle automatic updates by running some snap command at some defined moments. This would come at a cost, though: the startup times of snap applications could be considerably longer if snapd has to be cold started. It may be that the performance impact of starting snapd is negligible on faster machines, but if the whole point of this operation is to improve support for lubuntu, which is typically run on older machines, then changing the snapd behaviour to start on demand might not be doing a favour to lubuntu users. We might want to sit down and weigh pros and cons, but at first sight the gain seems not to be worth the efforts. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1930995 Title: snapd too heavy for lubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1930995/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1925985] Re: CVE-2021-22204
Launchpad is tracking the status against the current development release of Ubuntu (21.10) only - as can be see on the Ubuntu CVE tracker, https://ubuntu.com/security/CVE-2021-22204 this is not resolved for other Ubuntu releases yet. Also since the package referred to in this bug is in universe or multiverse, it is community maintained. If you are able, I suggest coordinating with upstream and posting a debdiff for this issue. When a debdiff is available, members of the security team will review it and publish the package. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future users from hitting the same bug. I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709 ps: I see numerous IO errors Jun 8 21:34:45 ubuntu kernel: [ 21.974415] EXT4-fs warning (device sda5): ext4_clear_journal_err:5332: Filesystem error recorded from previous mount: IO failure Jun 8 21:41:02 ubuntu kernel: [ 769.580328] FAT-fs (sda1): Volume was not properly unmounted. (Current upstream is releasing Laravel 8.45, however 6.x is their LTS series, with security support through Sep. 2022.) For Ubuntu impish we are introducing PHP 8.0, and updating a number of PHP ecosystem pieces to their PHP 8 versions. Technically, Laravel 6.20 indicates support for PHP 8.0 itself (https://github.com/laravel/framework/commit/897a47136c2da2fdc7e19cee89c2f3a514192dee), however Laravel 6.20 appears to not be compatible with some of the other ecosystem pieces being introduced, and looks like significant work will be needed to get it transitioned. Upstream recommends to their new users to install Laravel via their Docker container [https://laravel.com/docs/8.x/installation]. Experienced users are directed to use PHP's package manager, 'composer', to install Laravel's PHP components from the web. 3rd party install guides found via google also walk users through using composer to install laravel, rather than install via apt. In general it appears users are relying on an Ubuntu LTS for the webserver and the PHP runtime, but prefer latest Laravel in order to get up-to-date security fixes and features. Debian's PopCon gives the php-laravel-framework and related components a 0.00% rating, with only 7 people having installed it (of which only 2 people used it recently). We do not have any data suggesting Ubuntu's install base is significantly different from Debian's. Given the above, it seems most helpful for end users to focus efforts on stabilizing the base PHP 8.0 components, and drop Laravel from the archive for Impish. Since Laravel was only just introduced in hirsute, and since the popcon numbers suggest few are using it yet, it's unlikely this change will have a notable impact to users. ** Affects: movim (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1931315 Title: Please drop php-laravel-framework (and associated components), and movim from impish To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/movim/+bug/1931315/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1931278] Re: Creating FIT images is not supported
thanks for the patch! this might be easier to review as smaller atomic changes, but perhaps I can still follow around the debdiff :) 1) The its files are data, so they should to /usr/share; I wouldn't encourage local customizations by dropping them in /etc unless that's an important function; a way to give control would be to install a local flash-kernel database entry that overrides the shipped defaults for that hardware; this should be possible with /etc/flash-kernel/db? 2) would you add the new Boot-FIT-Path and Boot-ITS-Path to README? 3) seems "Boot-ITS-Path: /.../foo.its" should be written "U-Boot-ITS- Name: foo.its" and should be searched in the default flash-kernel directory 4) would it be possible to avoid the cp calls for kernel and initrd and just generate the fit image from their locations? the kernels / initrds tend to be big, so I suspect this adds non-trivial time to the run on SD cards 5) mkimage_fit(): why is padding needed? perhaps deserves a comment. Should this be a config? 6) the full path name in DTB-Id is the first one in the database, perhaps this suggests the corresponding deb should be in Required- Packages? would help with d-i usage 6) "cd" looks pretty singular compared to rest of functions; could it be avoided? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1931278 Title: Creating FIT images is not supported To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/flash-kernel/+bug/1931278/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
