[Bug 1856032] Re: Removable media icon stays on the dock after eject.
Confirmed in 21.04. @Tudor, Alt+F2 r will remove the icon from the launcher until this bug is squashed. It appears that the icon permanence occurs when I eject using the physical button on the drive as opposed to right-clicking and selecting "Eject" or by running the eject command at the CLI, both of which successfully removed the CD icon. I noticed this issue due an old game CD with redbook audio. When Ubuntu notices that disc, it actually produces two icons on the launcher, one is an audio CD, the other is the data disc. The Audio CD icon will not eject the disc when you right click and select that option. There appears to be no response. If you use the physical eject button on the drive, the audio CD icon will disappear but the data disc icon remains until a reset of the desktop with Alt+F2 r. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1856032 Title: Removable media icon stays on the dock after eject. [Bug 1881180] [NEW] drop suru-icon-theme (and use UBports' suru-icon-theme as upstream)
You have been subscribed to a public bug: As part of the initiative of packaging Lomiri (former Unity8) for Debian, I have just created a standalone source project for suru-icon- theme [1]. This will soon be packaged for and uploaded to Debian unstable. The UBports developers have added several changes to "their" suru-icon- theme which makes it impossible to use suru-icon-theme from the ubuntu- theme src:pkg on Ubuntu Touch. On the other hand, UBports' suru-icon- theme should still be good to go with on Ubuntu. Furthermore, for Debian upload, I preferred not to package the ubuntu specific artwork as a whole. The solution at UBports upstream was providing suru-icon-theme as a standalone upstream project. Thus, I'd like to suggest dropping suru-icon-theme from Ubuntu Theme (at least the bin:pkg) and use the suru-icon-theme package being available in Debian soon('ish (dependening on NEW queue processing)). The UBports devs are open to merge requests if that is required from time to time. [Bug 1933886] Re: tor browser not launching in impish
Okay, so, I did some heavy hardcore digging. The core execution string at the deepest level is something like this: `$HOME/.local/share/torbrowser/tbb/x86_64/tor-browser_en- US/Browser/firefox --class "Tor Browser" -profile $HOME/.local/share/torbrowser/tbb/x86_64/tor-browser_en- US/Browser/TorBrowser'profile.default "http://cnn.com"` With this in mind, I tested this on Ubuntu 21.04 direct which has Wayland and it worked. However, the same Firefox executable failed on Lubuntu 21.04. I have crash data (attached). However, this is not an issue with torbrowser-launcher's package, because all it does is start and execute the `start-tor-browser` shell file that Tor Browser upstream has provided, which in turn executes its flavor of Firefox, and that flavor of Firefox crashes. This is not necessarily an issue in the *package* torbrowser-launcher but an upstream Tor Browser problem, so I'm going to leave this bug as Incomplete unless someone can prove it's an issue with the torbrowser- launcher package. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933886 Title: tor browser not launching in impish To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/torbrowser-launcher/+bug/1933886/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi @Frank, So I looked into this a bit, and with some feedback help from mwhudson, I see that we attempt to print the ssh info. Presumably this isn't going in the place you're looking, however. Something that changed relatively recently was that we no longer have cloud-init handle setting the temp password of the installer user. Public bug reported: Trying to use tor-browser has the program open, then close but is unusable. this issue has existed for a few weeks (3 weeks+?) on my primary box (impish). I don't trust facebook, and use tor-browser to access fb to post UWN notice on my local Tuesday morning most weeks, and have thus resorted to using another box (focal setup) where it works last 3+ weeks. The login & post takes 2-3 mins max so I've not ignored issue. I tried adding tor-browser to this recent QA-test install (impish), expecting it to work; alas I get the same issue here I have for awhile on my primary box. Using a focal (daily) install does NOT have this issue. I believe the issue is a problem only in IMPISH. ** EXPECTED RESULTS I expect tor-browser to start, establish connection & remain open on clicking in menu ** ACTUAL RESULTS Tor browser opens at menu, establish connection dialog then it closes and cannot be used ** ADDITIONAL blurb No CRASH file exists in /var/crash/ This is a clean QA-test install of Lubuntu impish (maybe a few days old; I forget). The only change made was monitor settings adjustment (my screen setup differs to the default). [Bug 1932990] Re: cannot create user data directory: /opt/appserver/snap/chromium/1646: Permission denied
I am investigating whether I can fix the error by using an option, '--user-data-dir=/tmp', when I launch the chromiumdriver. First, snap has made the use of this simple tool, chromiumdriver, much more complex. Second, I have tried to uninstall the snap version of the tool and I cannot now install a non-snap version. Somehow snap has soured the soup. If it is going to cause these kinds of problems, I am certainly not going to be trying to use snap for other tools unless I have to. If the install requirements are very complex, such as with installing certificates, snap is a good thing. But when the install process is simple, one should not use snap? [Bug 1933880] [NEW] systemd-logind crash when suspend with nvidia-suspend.service masked, bringing session down with it
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: 1. Run `sudo apt install nvidia-driver-465`. Then, without a need for a restart, run `sudo apt autoremove nvidia-driver-465`. 2. Leaving the terminal open, suspend the machine. Expected behavior: the machine suspend successfully and can be woken up successfully. Actual behavior: the machine doesn't suspend. It either: - hang with no respond other than SysRq+REISUB (or maybe network, but I didn't test), or - return you back to the login screen. Upon logging in, you'll notice that the terminal you opened is gone. Upon further inspection (on a session that doesn't hang), it's been found that X server died with: Fatal server error: [66.422] (EE) systemd-logind disappeared (stopped/restarted?) And checking journal for systemd-logind log, it said: Error during inhibitor-delayed operation (already returned success to client): Unit nvidia-suspend.service is masked. before the new process takes it place. [Bug 1933879] [NEW] libc6-lse does not replace ld.so with LSE enabled version
Public bug reported: When installing libc6-lse on AArch64 (tested on focal and an AWS Graviton 2) the libc, pthreads, etc used by programs on the system are replaced with the LSE enabled versions. This is not, however, true of ld.so, despite an LSE enabled version of ld.so being included in libc6-lse. As far as I can tell this is because the other libraries are all substituted through some dynamic linker magic (that I don't understand), but ld.so's location is fixed by the PT_INTERP header compiled into every binary on the system, and libc6-lse doesn't e.g. symlink that path to the new ld.so. This is a problem for porting rr (https://rr-project.org/) to AArch64. The old-style exclusive load/store atomics are inherently non- deterministic and cannot be handled by rr. And not replacing ld.so with an LSE version means every program contains code that can execute the old-style atomics (in practice only programs with threads actually trigger that codepath in ld.so, but that's still most interesting programs). ** Affects: glibc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933879 Title: libc6-lse does not replace ld.so with LSE enabled version To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glibc/+bug/1933879/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1930188] Re: Acer Aspire 5 sound driver issues
I just tested linux-image-unsigned-5.13.0-1005-oem after enabling focal- purposed and can confirm the fix is merged there, all relevant fixes are working fine. I also noticed one more thing that the microphone boost in alsamixer is untied to microphone volume now. Can change volume seperately and increase/decrease boost separately really glad about this one as well. Let me know if I should update the tag to 'verification-done-focal'. The kernel version where the fix has landed seems very far off from ubuntu current one, guess it will take very long to arrive officially. [Bug 1791958] Re: iptables-restore is missing -w option
+1 for a backport, I don't think 1.6.2 is suitable for an SRU, specifically about one change I noticed with test packages that I think can break existing firewall scripts. The locking code is shared between tools, so in 1.6.2, not only do we get iptables-{save,restore} with -w support, but iptables itself changes behavior. When a lock is held, this is the current behavior in bionic: root@b1-iptables-restore-wait-lock:~# time iptables -L Another app is currently holding the xtables lock; still -9s 0us time ahead to have a chance to grab the lock... Another app is currently holding the xtables lock; still -19s 0us time ahead to have a chance to grab the lock... Another app is currently holding the xtables lock; still -29s 0us time ahead to have a chance to grab the lock... Two things: - there is an implied -w with no value, meaning infinite wait. Perhaps surprising, perhaps not. - the time countdown is negative (bug) In 1.6.2 and later, we have: root@b1-iptables-restore-wait-lock:~# time iptables -L Another app is currently holding the xtables lock. Perhaps you want to use the -w option? real0m0.003s Focal: root@f1:~# time iptables -L Another app is currently holding the xtables lock. Perhaps you want to use the -w option? real0m0.003s user0m0.004s sys 0m0.000s root@f1:~# iptables --version iptables v1.8.4 (legacy) It exits immediately. I can see this breaking existing firewall scripts that were up to now relying on the lock even without knowing it. They would be working with the bionic version, perhaps hitting the lock a few times, but with the updated version, as soon as the lock is hit, iptables exits. This means the script would have to be changed to add -w [n] to all iptables invocations, and I think that's unexpected for an update to an LTS release. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791958 Title: iptables-restore is missing -w option To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/iptables/+bug/1791958/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
