[Bug 1892132] Re: Failure to get the correct UpLink Representor
Thanks for all the work Frode and all the involved openstack people. Groovy is no more serviced via the SRU process, so I've disabled that. [Bug 1917010] Re: Hard to detect double-clicks on the HiDPI touchscreen system
For gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng on Hirsute: 1) Boot to a live Hirsute USB 2) Enable -proposed pocket and add universe to the repo 3) Upgrade gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng 4) Logout and login to restart gnome-shell 5) Use the touchscreen to double tap on "Home" and "Trash" icons, the respective directories can be opened all the time. [Bug 1795649] Re: evince from snap doesn't save position in pdf document
This still a problem in Ubuntu 20.04 and evince 40.4 See https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/-/issues/1642 When using snap-based evince the application state is not saved. evince 40.4 from the snap of the Ubuntu 20.04 repositories: - does not save window position - does not save left pane state (it is always closed, after open it is always on the page "Thumbnails") - does not save page position - zoom seems to be "Fit Width", it seems that this is the default zoom - list of recently opened documents always empty Also snap-based evince does not have an icon in the ubuntu-dock -- standard icon with gear in rhombus is used. evince from the apt has the icon with glasses on the printed list. When I run evice from the command line I get the following output: ``` $ LC_ALL=C evince Gtk-Message: 09:41:53.328: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module" Gtk-Message: 09:41:53.399: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module" (evince:154761): GLib-GIO-WARNING **: 09:42:47.490: Error creating IO channel for /proc/self/mountinfo: Permission denied (g-file-error-quark, 2) (evince:154761): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: 09:42:47.549: invalid cast from 'GtkFileChooserNative' to 'GtkWidget' Error registering document: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.gnome.evince.Daemon was not provided by any .service files ``` evice was installed as ``` sudo snap install evince ``` ** Bug watch added: gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/-/issues #1642 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/-/issues/1642 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1795649 Title: evince from snap doesn't save position in pdf document To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1795649/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I hit the same problem, and I followed this guide to switch my storage driver from aufs to overlay2: https://docs.docker.com/storage/storagedriver/overlayfs-driver/ , then the upgrade worked. Migrating docker images from one storage driver to another is a really painful process: you have to save your images as tar files, switch the storage driver, then load them back one after another. [Bug 1939638] [NEW] USB device is not detected during boot
Public bug reported: [Summary] The USB devices (keyboard, storage...) are failed to be detected during boot after upgrade to UBUNTU focal kernel 5.4.0-78 and hirsute 5.11.0-26. However, they will be detected and working ok after re-plugging. The kernel output shows as down below during boot [ 39.350435] hub 1-0:1.0: USB hub found [ 39.398835] hub 1-0:1.0: 12 ports detected [ 39.622744] usb usb1-port3: couldn't allocate usb_device And when I plug out then plug in the same device, it shows [57210.794140] usb 1-3: new low-speed USB device number 4 using xhci_hcd [57210.951289] usb 1-3: New USB device found, idVendor=17ef, idProduct=6099, bcdDevice= 1.14 [57210.951293] usb 1-3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 After doing kernel bisecting, we found the upstream commit https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/90d28fb53d4a51299ff324dede015d5cb11b88a2 makes the difference. It indicates that the delay for the root hub from power_on to power_good is not long enough. There was no problem if the delay is 100 ms. From the Hub Descriptor of the root hub, the value is 10 * 2 milliseconds. And the XHCI spec also says in section 5.4.8 """ The host is required to have power stable to the port within 20 milliseconds of the '0' to '1' transition of PP. If PPC = '1', software is responsible for waiting 20ms. """ The commit seems to follow the SPEC but could cause problems on some hubs. [Reproduce Steps] 1. Plug the USB device to the physical port #1 and #4 which belongs to high-speed hub. 2. Power on the machine. 3. Check if the USB device can work or not after boot. [Results] Expected: All usb devices connect to the hub should work OK. Actual: USB devices connects to high-speed hub can not be probed. [Bug 1939628] [NEW] Fan goes full speed on resume from suspend (Lenovo ThinkPad T460)
Public bug reported: On resume from suspend the fan goes full speed. Regression - this only happens intermittently on kernel 5.8.0-63, but happens every time on kernel 5.11.0-25. [Bug 1672297] Re: gnome-shell uses lots of memory, and grows over time
FWIW, I have a pretty consistent reproduction of this on my 20.04 machine here. Restarting gnome-shell with Alt-F2 then "r" causes all the window management stuff to go away, but doesn't actually kill the process that's reporting the giant resident set size. Manually killing that pid also causes the WM chrome to disappear for a second and then pop back once a new gnome-shell process spawns. That one comes up almost instantly with a huge (but smaller, at least) RSS: 0] jbm@complexity:~/Downloads $ ps l 650626 F UID PIDPPID PRI NIVSZ RSS WCHAN STAT TTYTIME COMMAND 0 1000 6506262554 20 0 6884676 2449912 - Rsl ? 62:14 /usr/bin/gnome-shell 0] jbm@complexity:~/Downloads $ kill 650626 (run top to get the new PID) 130] jbm@complexity:~/Downloads $ ps l 665168 F UID PIDPPID PRI NIVSZ RSS WCHAN STAT TTYTIME COMMAND 0 1000 6651682554 20 0 6248912 1988284 poll_s Ssl ?0:57 /usr/bin/gnome-shell So, it's gone from 2449912 to 1988284. That isn't nothing: 2.3GiB vs 1.9GiB, but it's still a heck of a lot of RAM for a newly-spawned process. [Bug 1939626] [NEW] Ubiquity formats Luks partition regardless of user choice and results in data loss
Public bug reported: Xubuntu 20.04.2 ubiquity 20.04.15.10 partman-crypto Lost an lvm PV because of this. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create encrypted partition with cryptsetup luksFormat 2. Check crypt partition UUID with cryptsetup luksUUID 3. Close crypt volume with cryptsetup luksClose if necessary. Launch ubiquity installer. … 4. no updates 5. Installation type: Something else 6. Select an existing Luks partition and change to "physical volume for encryption". 7. "Edit partition" dialog options for "Format the partition" and "Overwrite empty disk space" are unchecked. Enter key and confirm. 8. Long pause. Crypt volume appears on main window. 9. Check crypt partition UUID again. It has changed due to an unrequested luksFormat. 10. Syslog shows: xubuntu partman-crypto: WARNING: Device /dev/sda1 already contains a 'crypto_LUKS' superblock signature. 11. Repeat with the crypt volume open to block writes. Error dialog after step #7 reports "Configuration of encrypted volumes failed" "An error occurred while configuring encrypted volumes. The configuration has been aborted". 12. Syslog shows: xubuntu partman-crypto: Device /dev/sda1 is in use. Can not proceed with format operation. xubuntu partman-crypto: WARNING: Device /dev/sda1 already contains a 'crypto_LUKS' superblock signature. Tried ubiquity --debug but didn't find anything pertaining to the problem in the other logs. Not sure if the problem is with ubiquity, partman-crypto, or both. It needs a "cryptsetup isLuks" check somewhere along with some warnings. [Bug 1808418] Re: Thinkpad T430u won't boot without noapic workaround
This is what I got with a bisect between tags v5.7-rc2 and v5.7. It looks like a merge commit. [Bug 1937321] Re: System freeze (amdgpu kernel crash on resume from suspend)
The 5.11 kernel locks up when left in suspend mode overnight and Alt/Sysrq REISUB will not be recognized either. I have been able to suspend the laptop by shutting the kid for smaller amounts of time and having the system respond again when the the lid is reopened, 1 to 2 hours. But leaving it suspended for overnight will cause it to hang every time. I have booted the other kernel on the system, 5.8.0-63 and will see if that works. I haven't downloaded the linux-oem-20.04c package yet. Any more advice? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1937321 Title: System freeze (amdgpu kernel crash on resume from suspend) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-hwe-5.8/+bug/1937321/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
