[Bug 1945008] Re: Logs in with Wayland although Xorg looks selected in session menu. Need to reselect
The question is, though, have you *tried* to recreate the bug? A small period of time logging in/out and trying to select Xorg, then seeing what's running when you're logged in might give you some clue that it might just be a universal problem that can be fixed is all that's required here. Do you really need all of this bureaucracy and MBs upon MBs of logs just to find out something might not have gotten set correctly on login and you have to specifically select an option to get it to set correctly? As a developer, the *first thing I do* when someone says there might be a bug is to *try it myself*, not ask for a mountain of new information before even acknowledging there might be something wrong. But in all modern bug report systems, this bureaucratic nonsense seems to be the norm instead of actually caring about your product enough to take a moment out of your day to actually see if it might be a problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1945008 Title: Logs in with Wayland although Xorg looks selected in session menu. Furthermore, when I create "/var/run/php" directory manually and restart "php7.4-fpm" using "systemctl" then it works perfectly. [Bug 1945590] Re: Thinkpad E14 Gen2: Kernel panic with trackpad and trackpoint enabled
After installation same situation for me, i've attached a photo of the output. It's really weird: On some boots i am stuck also just at the Lenovo Logo without any more possibillities, on other try of boot, i've got the kernel panic. Even if i disable trackpad and touchpad, but if disabled sometimes the notebooks is booting normal. [Bug 1946529] [NEW] Logitech Q9000 default mic gain too high, causes distortion
Public bug reported: The file /var/lib/alsa/asound.state has the following part for the settings for the Logitech Q9000 camera. control.3 { iface MIXER name 'Mic Capture Volume' value 0 comment { access 'read write' type INTEGER count 1 range '0 - 3072' dbmin 1800 dbmax 3000 dbvalue.0 1800 } } The dbmin value of 1800 (18db) is too high and causes the mic signal to be distorted. The value should probably be 0 and the default value (dbvalue.0 1800) should also probably be set to 0 (0db) and not 1800 (18 db.) With the dbmin of 1800, it is impossible to set this any lower than 18db in alsamixer. In my system, this value comes from /proc/asound/card1/usbmixer and is linked to /proc/asound/Q9000/usbmixer. I've tested this out by editing /var/lib/alsa/asound.state to set dbmin and dbvalue.0 to 0 and the sound on the microphone stops being distorted. Description:Ubuntu 21.04 Release:21.04 I have not idea what the package is, but I listed the files so hopefully that is good enough. What I expect to happen: To have the default value for the mic gain to not default so high as to cause distortion and the the value to be able to be set to 0db (or less even?) in alsamixer. What mappened instead? The mic distorts because the lowest available gain is 18db. You can't set this below 18db in alsa mixer. This happens in any program that uses the mic input. ** Affects: kubuntu-settings (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1946529 Title: Logitech Q9000 default mic gain too high, causes distortion To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kubuntu-settings/+bug/1946529/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1938908] Re: Backport the container stack in Impish
The introduction of a new package golang-github-ishidawataru-sctp in SRU doesn't fall under any of the regular SRU exceptions, it is not a hardware-enablement package and it is not covered by name by any of the other SRU exceptions. It is a requirement for newer docker.io, but we would normally expect new docker dependencies to be vendored, not shipped as new external packages. The justification given for this as a separate source package is that in addition to being a requirement for docker.io, which has an SRU exception, there are other packages such as podman which need it, so it should be packaged externally rather than embedded in docker.io. Since the introduction of a new package introduces no practical risk of regression, I am accepting this rationale. ** Changed in: golang-github-ishidawataru-sctp (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: New => Fix Committed ** Tags removed: verification-failed ** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-bionic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1938908 Title: Backport the container stack in Impish To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/containerd/+bug/1938908/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1946522] [NEW] brisk-menu crashes when changing desktop layout
Public bug reported: This bug occurs in 21.10 (beta). When changing desktop layout, an error is returned: `The panel encountered a problem while loading "BriskMenuFactory::BriskMenu"` Brisk Menu fails to load as part of the panel. Subsequently logging out and in (or rebooting) causes Brisk Menu to load without problem (in all layouts). This does not occur every time, but around 90% of times. It appears to occur regardless of which layout is being moved to or from. The error occurs when switching layouts both via Welcome and MATE Tweak. [Bug 1946521] [NEW] motion fails to start after install: Permission denied creating log file
Public bug reported: I installed motion for the first time on a reasonably fresh Kubuntu 21.04 release. I installed this system in April 2021. It immediately fails and spams "emergency" log messages all over my terminals. (See dpkg log below) The problem seems to be that the default config /etc/motion/motion.conf specifies: log_file /var/log/motion/motion.log but there is nothing to create that directory. I'm not sure whether this should be a job for postinst, or a systemd ExecStartPre, but I would argue that not logging to a file at all and letting systemd-journald hoover up the stderr/syslog messages would be better. AttributeError: 'TimeoutError' object has no attribute 'replace' Because magic-proxy is proxying all traffic to port 80, it will intercept these sort of messages. The TimeoutError ends up bubbling up to the serversocket handling code, which will then cause a broken pipe for all future communications, effectively breaking future apt calls from within the build environment. The concrete problem here is that inside magic-proxy, self.send_error is called with the argument of e.reason, which can be a string (no error) or an exception (in case of a nested exception). If the nested exception is passed into self.send_error, html.replace will try to be called on the exception, hence the above exception. In addition to fixing this specific problem, magic-proxy's request handling should catch all exceptions to not interfere with higher up socketserver handling. ** Affects: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1946520 Title: magic-proxy does not gracefully handle error conditions To manage notifications

[Bug 1942929] Re: [SRU] ubuntu-advantage-tools (27.2.2 -> 27.3) Xenial, Bionic, Focal, Hirsute
** Description changed: [Impact] This release sports both bug-fixes and new features and we would like to make sure all of our supported customers have access to these improvements. The notable ones are: * more robust error handling when determining the cloud we're on LP: #1940131 LP: #1938207 LP: #1944676 * disallows fips on focal aws/azure LP: #1939449 LP: #1939932 * adds/changes to ua-related recurring jobs: - change in frequency to existing job: updates the apt and motd esm update messaging: every 6 hours - new job: updates the contract details and status: every 12 hours - new job: ONLY ON GCP (implemented as separate timer that is only activated on GCP LTS when not attached): checks for license changes and auto-attaches if a pro license was added: every 5 minutes * adds support for ros/ros-updates entitlements with --beta flag With this change, the ua-message timer is renamed to ua-timer, as it has a more generic functionality: it triggers sub jobs which need to be executed periodically. One of those is exactly the job which updates the messaging - which has its interval reduced to 6h, as well as the timer itself. There is also a job to update the client status every 12h, and a third one to collect metrics, which is disabled for this release. See the changelog entry below for a full list of changes and bugs. [Test Case] The following development and SRU process was followed: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuAdvantageToolsUpdates The ubuntu-advantage-tools team will be in charge of attaching the artifacts and console output of the appropriate run to the bug. ubuntu-advantage-tools team members will not mark ‘verification-done’ until this has happened. [Bug 1942929] Re: [SRU] ubuntu-advantage-tools (27.2.2 -> 27.3) Xenial, Bionic, Focal, Hirsute
+ + In addition to the automated integration testing, here are manual test + instructions to verify that the packaging changes are functional. [Bug 1946477] Re: package unity-tweak-tool 0.0.7+-0ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade: installed unity-tweak-tool package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1
Now that I have some time to look at the problem it seems that the post-install is failing with the following error: File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/UnityTweakTool/section/spaghetti/gsettings.py", line 109 antialiasing = gnome('desktop.interface’) ^ SyntaxError: EOL while scanning string literal If you edit the gsettings.py file with gedit you can see that the end parentheses is showing in pink instead of white. Don't know if this is a problem with the patch file but somehow we are picking up an EOL character which is causing the closing parenthesis to be shown as pink instead of white(maybe interpreted as an EOL signal or something like that). As far as I can tell the coding changes seem to be correct for the moving of the schema from "xsettings" to "desktop.interface" but I am a noob so what the hell do I know. If I can gather more information or anything let me know. [Bug 1945590] Re: Thinkpad E14 Gen2: Kernel panic with trackpad and trackpoint enabled
Looking at the oops it seems that the stack gets corrupted inside elantech_change_report_id(), that is defined in drivers/input/mouse/elantech.c. According to Stephan it seems that 5.11 is the last kernel that seems to work. If we look at the changes between 5.11 and 5.13 that are touching drivers/input/mouse/elantech.c there's only one commit: 9d383e96448dbfdd97a37e618f6af5a17a60ce0d ("Input: elantech - Prepare a complete software node for the device") It'd be interesting to revert this commit in the latest 5.13 and see if the problem goes away.
