[Bug 1948351] Re: linux ADT test_bpf failure with linux/5.4.0-90.101

2021-10-21 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Manually tested on a P8 node (gulpin) with 5.4.0-89-generic and
5.4.0-90-generic

Conclusion:
It looks like a real kernel regression.
The following two test cases are failing with 5.4.0-90-generic (passed with
5.4.0-89-generic)
[  736.795192] test_bpf: #142 ALU_MOD_K: 3 % 1 = 0 jited:1 ret 3 != 0 FAIL (1
times)
[  736.795285] test_bpf: #145 ALU64_MOD_K: 3 % 1 = 0 jited:1 ret 3 != 0 FAIL (1
times)

Test results:
* Kernel: 5.4.0-89 + Source: 5.4.0-89 = PASSED
* Kernel: 5.4.0-89 + Source: 5.4.0-90 = PASSED
* Kernel: 5.4.0-90 + Source: 5.4.0-90 = FAILED
* Kernel: 5.4.0-90 + Source: 5.4.0-89 = FAILED

[Bug 1921658] Re: Can't compose kvm host with lvm storage on maas 2.8.4

2021-10-21 Thread Seyeong Kim
@ddstreet

Thanks for your advice,

FYI, This symptom is only happening when backend storage is LVM, it is
ok when we just use local storage

And I've checked decoded string before but it was the same (error). LVM
has error, local is ok

But I'm trying to test you mentioned

Thanks

[Bug 1947257] Re: Partial profile loss on upgrade from 21.04 to 21.10

2021-10-21 Thread Craig McQueen
I upgraded from 21.04 to 21.10. Other (non-sudo) users of the computer
reported that their Firefox profiles were lost.

I uninstalled the snap firefox, and installed deb firefox via apt. Their
profiles "came back".

I guess the snap firefox looks for profiles in a different location, and
the profiles aren't transferred from the old deb-firefox location to the
snap-firefox-expected location.

It looks as though this transition to snap firefox has been done badly.

[Bug 1948364] [NEW] Static IP set in /etc/network/interfaces sometimes doesn't set properly after reboot

2021-10-21 Thread Matinal Sun
Public bug reported:

I use ubuntu20.04 and set static IP 192.168.11.22 in
/etc/network/interfaces. Most time it could work but sometimes the IP
changed to 192.168.11.105, which same to be a DHCP IP. I checked the
syslog and journalctl, find that eth0 same to disconnect and be re-
configured by dhcilent.:

Oct 22 10:10:03 sv-host NetworkManager[502]: [1634868603.0490] device
(eth0): link disconnected (calling deferred action)
Oct 22 10:10:03 sv-host NetworkManager[502]: [1634868603.0498] device
(eth0): state change: activated -> unavailable (reason 'carrier-changed') [100
20 40]

But I don't know which lead eth0 disconnect. Why eth0 doesn't get static
IP but DHCP IP when it reconnected?

[Bug 1948361] [NEW] docker.io - error adding seccomp filter rule for syscall clone3

2021-10-21 Thread Ian May
Public bug reported:

Encountered the following error using the docker.io package in focal-
proposed running the autotest-client-
test/ubuntu_performance_deep_learning test.

"docker: Error response from daemon: failed to create shim: OCI runtime
create failed: container_linux.go:380: starting container process
caused: error adding seccomp filter rule for syscall clone3: permission
denied: unknown."

This test essentially pulls down a nvidia tensorflow docker container,
runs the container and triggers the preloaded tests while capturing the
output as results.

The failure is seen with the following version of docker.io
Version: 20.10.7-0ubuntu5~20.04.1
APT-Sources: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-proposed/universe amd64
Packages

Using the focal-updates docker.io the failure cannot be reproduced
Version: 20.10.7-0ubuntu1~20.04.2
APT-Sources: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-updates/universe amd64
Packages

To reproduce:

git clone --depth=1 git://kernel.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/autotest-client-tests
git clone --depth=1 git://kernel.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/autotest

ln -sf ~/autotest-client-tests autotest/client/tests

[Bug 1903857] Re: USB devices reset on guest boot, causing boot failures if USB device is the boot device

2021-10-21 Thread FurretUber
I found two options in QEMU that solve this problem: adding
'streams=on,command_serr_enable=on' to the qemu-xhci (as -device qemu-
xhci,streams=on,command_serr_enable=on) will make the USB devices not
reset on boot, so it's possible to use live USBs on a QEMU guest
correctly.

I'm not aware of negative impacts these options have on guests as, so
far, I noticed nothing wrong with the guests or the USB devices after
using them.

[Bug 1943842] Re: rustc 1.53 and cargo 0.54 required by firefox 94

2021-10-21 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
Given the general level of hassle this update has caused, I'm very much
prepared to deal with that issue when it happens rather than ahead of
time!

The current status: the update of rustc to 1.52 is mostly done now.
Cargo 0.53 is building in a PPA and has passed on amd64 and s390x.
Hopefully the updates to 1.53 and 0.54 respectively will be less
troublesome!

[Bug 1948339] [NEW] Logon screen can be bypassed using various shortcuts

2021-10-21 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

You have been subscribed to a public security bug by Seth Arnold (seth-arnold):

Hi,

my little daughter discovered a logon screen bypass in Ubuntu Mate 21.10
after hitting the keyboard for a while.

It turns out that several keyboard shortcuts are allowed while Ubuntu
Mate is locked (arctica-greeter):

- Mod4 + S (mate-search-tool)
- Mod4 + E (Open Caja / File Explorer)
- CTRL + Shift + Esc (mate-system-monitor)
- PRNT (Screenshot)

All of the mentioned shortcuts could be used to spawn a file explorer
(Caja) or various other binaries as user "lightdm", who owns the logon
screen.

Although an interactive terminal like mate-terminal, xterm, lxterm etc.
could not be opened directly, there are various options to run commands
as the lightdm user, for example by creating a shell script using
"caja", and execute it directly using the GUI.

I've attached Proof-of-Concept GIFs for all shortcuts mentioned above.
There might be additional shortcuts that could be used to achieve the
same, however I'm not aware about every shortcut that is configured, but
I suppose that the root cause is located somewhere in arctica-greeter,
rather than within every single binary launched by shortcuts.

The bug was reproduced on a fresh installation of Ubuntu Mate 21.10. I
haven't tested other versions of Ubuntu Mate yet.

Please find additional version details below:

$ apt-cache policy lightdm

packaging bug reports have Wishlist importance. Subsequently, I'm
setting this bug's status to Wishlist.

[Bug 1948349] [NEW] Ubuntu 21.10 Kernel Panic error.. Unable to boot from Live USB installer

2021-10-21 Thread moxzie hook
Public bug reported:

I tried to install Ubuntu 21.10 stable which was released couple of days ago.
I get Kernel panic error on both my ThinkPad and Thinkcenter when trying to
boot from the Live usb installer.
My ThinkPad x201 processor is Intel 1stGen.
My Thinkcenter m93p runs on Intel Core i5- 4430s.
I have tried to disable the track point and touchpad from BIOS but with no luck.
I tried acpi=off from the unetbootin boot menu and kernel panic doesn't appear
but another problem "unable to find a medium containing a live file system"
popped up. I don't know how to go past this.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

[Bug 1948343] Re: Docking Station crash ramdomly after october 19 updates

2021-10-21 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future
users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

FYI: You've filed this against the `ubuntu-release-upgrader` package,
which would upgrade a 20.04 install to a later release (eg. 20.10, 22.04
etc) for example; yet you appear to have not used that feature; thus
I'll change this to `linux`.

** Package changed: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu)

I've never had this in Ubuntu 21.04 Hirsute. But after upgrading to

But, I rebooted it, and WiFi came back after the boot. It remains to be seen
how often this issue appears in Ubuntu 21.10 Impish.

** Description changed:

This weekend (Oct 17, 2021) Ubuntu was ugraded and since then I can no

- fine, but when the button is held down the moving around events are
- ignored.
+ The touchpad works OK for moving the mouse when no button is pressed and
+ the left button works fine by itself, there is no right button
+ recognised - everything is the left, when the button is held down the
+ moving around events are ignored.

Attached is evtest file showing the events when touchpad held down and
finger moved across the touchpad to move the mouse pointer - but it

[Bug 1947509] Re: system crashes with different and unrelated programs

2021-10-21 Thread Higurashi Kagome
The comment from Brian Murray, while quite informative, does not apply
to the problem I'm having. It's not my HDMI display that's freezing, but
the system itself. No matter. I scrapped 21.10 and went back to 21.04. I
read a suggestion that stated that it would be better to wait for
version 22 to come out, since 21.10 is only being supported for the
short term - 6 months. That sounds like a beta build meant for a test
run of some of the new upcoming features.

Since I'm still new to Linux and only months into using Ubuntu, I'll
admit that I don't understand enough about the workings of the distro to
be posting bug reports. Forgive my ineptness.

Thank you for your time.

Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS
Release:20.04

ubuntu-restricted-extras:
  Installed: 67
  Candidate: 67
  Version table:
 *** 67 500
500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/multiverse amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

In up-to-date Ubuntu 10.4, in a terminal window, under "script" to capture the
output:

$ sudo apt install ubuntu-restricted-extras

A pretty text box comes up titled "Configuring ttf-mscorefonts-installer".
The box needs [OK] to be confirmed, but [OK] isn't highlighted and typing Enter
doesn't work.

A ps command shows that the box is displayed by whiptail(1).

Googling, I come across https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-
users/2012-June/260759.html

The key to getting out of this hang is to type TAB. Then Enter will
select OK.

This is clearly some kind of bug.

Here is the whiptail command line, as shown by ps:

<<<

whiptail --backtitle Package configuration --title Configuring ttf-

[Bug 1940136] Re: HyperV images do not include package manifests

2021-10-21 Thread John Chittum
I have verified bionic by doing the following:

1. downloaded source package of
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/livecd-rootfs/2.525.56
2. untarred locally
3. executed a local build using ubuntu-old-fashioned

I see that there is a livecd.ubuntu-desktop-hyperv.vhdx.zip.manifest
produced at the end of the build, and that it has correct packages

installable

However, this is not an issue with code change under test. I'll look
into if there are open bugs related to this on Hirsute somewhere
already.
