[Bug 1949362] Re: gdalinfo returns undef_symbol

2021-11-20 Thread Epiesasha
I tired the following:

```
➜  MB-System-5.7.5 /usr/bin/gdalinfo
libtirpc-dev is already the newest version (1.3.2-2).
libtirpc3 is already the newest version (1.3.2-2).
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
```

The error persist - I see the library you mention, has the following
header: `/usr/include/tirpc/rpc/types.h`

I moved away from cmake and built GDAL from source using the old
'./configure' scripts .. and it builds fine.

I also have another tool that requires the same header - MB-Stestem (pinned for
my use to V.5.7)
And it also has issues in finding the types.h header. Its configure script
returns the following:

```
checking for tirpc/rpc/rpc.h... no
checking for rpc/types.h... no
@Bob H/bobbicat
Thank you for your testing; yes that's useful detail on timings so thank
you. This will impact install QA-testing until fixed (ISOs using
`ubiquity`) but shouldn't impact live testing :)
** Description changed:
  Ubiquity crashes when user tries to run ISO QA testing by following the
  procedure from:
  http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/testcases/1300/info
  http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/testcases/1305/info
  The actual result is the same: installer crashes with the following last line
in the small terminal at the bottom - "plugininstall.py:
ubiquity.install_misc.InstallStepError: AptSetup failed with code 127" .
  Does not depend on system type - happens on real hardware, QEMU, Virtualbox.
  This plugininstall.py came from ubiquity package.
  Expected result is completed bootable installation.
---
nss-pam-ldapd (0.9.12-1) unstable; urgency=medium
  Sebastien Blavier)
- support generating ldaps:// URIs from DNS SRV records for port 389 by
  idle_timelimit
- fix handling of pam_authc_ppolicy no
- fix debug logging of ldap timeout values
- documentation improvements (thanks Filip Dvorak and Benedict Reuschling)
- add pam_authc_ppolicy support to pynslcd
- fix for running pynslcd without the uid option
- partial support for running tests with slapd 2.5 (thanks Ryan Tandy)
  * Switch to using /run/nslcd (fixes lintian warnings)
  * Update debian/upstream/metadata
  * Drop lintian override
  * Use debhelper-compat instead of debian/compat
  * Update debhelper compatibility level to 13
  [ Sergio Durigan Junior ]
  * Support networkd-dispatcher notifications
[Bug 1594023] Re: Poweroff or reboot hangs. Laptop won't shutdown. 16.04
2021-11-20 Thread Jan Johansson
Hi again, so since october 28, I have been trying to install and run an
old kernel from before this shutdown problem happened and I am now
running 4.4.0-210-generic, for the last week(and I use my laptop every
day most of the day), I have had no shutdown problems.
Since this problem occur in newer kernels too, than maybe developers can
look to this kernel and see what is different, that might cause the
problem.
To people who want to use this older kernel, just open synaptics and
look first to what you have installed by searching for your kernel
version number - do not add linux-image or linux-headers.
You should see what is installed and modules. Make a screenshot or write
it down, then look for this old kernel the same way and install the
items from your list.
Wait for it to finish.
Then either use Grub customizerI use this as there is a GUI and a lot of
options, like having a list of kernels shown on start up) or you can
just run
sudo update-grub
from terminal
Restart your machine
Edit these instructions to fit your own system, that might be different
from mine.
[Bug 1951712] [NEW] thunderbird 78 'nearly unsupported'
2021-11-20 Thread John Pye
Public bug reported:
Just reported a bug with (current) Thunderbird 78 on Ubuntu 18.04 and
20.04, and I was told that this version of Thunderbird is now 'nearly
unsupported'. Is it expected that Thunderbird 91 will be released on
20.04?
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1741543
I found this PPA which looks like it's possible. But for some reason
that PPA has an older version of Firefox and a newer version of
Thunderbird...?
[Bug 1951703] Re: Issues with canonical repository access
2021-11-20 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.  It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general.  It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it.  You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.
To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1951703/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.
[This is an automated message.  I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]
[Bug 1951709] [NEW] CVE-2021-35604 affects MariaDB in Ubuntu
2021-11-20 Thread Otto Kekäläinen
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***
Public security bug reported:
According to https://mariadb.com/kb/en/security/ the latest minor
MariaDB releases include security fixes.
I am working on updates for all maintained Ubuntu versions for MariaDB:
- mariadb-10.3 in Focal
- mariadb-10.5 in Hirsute and Impish
MariaDB 10.6 in Jammy will automatically import the new version from
Debian Sid once available.
[Bug 1951678] Re: Sync micropython 1.17+ds-1.1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
2021-11-20 Thread Sergio Durigan Junior
Thanks for the bug report.
Unfortunately micropython still doesn't build correctly in all
architectures:
https://launchpad.net/~sergiodj/+archive/ubuntu/micropython-
merge/+packages
It's FTBFS'ing on ppc64el and s390x.  I noticed that the Debian package
also has the same issue:
https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=micropython
This will need to be fixed before we sync the package into Ubuntu.  For
this reason, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete.
[Bug 1951706] [NEW] Failed to unmount /oldroot/dev/pts: Device or resource busy
2021-11-20 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:
I have an armhf system which happens to not reboot from Linux, and as a
result I can clearly see all the shutdown messages on it.
It is also using lvm for the root filesystem.
On focal, it is currently failing to cleanly unmount the filesystem and
shutdown the LVM:
[67384.315925] sd-umoun[11498]: Failed to unmount /oldroot: Device or resource
busy
[67384.331584] sd-umoun[11499]: Failed to unmount /oldroot/dev/pts: Device or
busy
[67384.400682] shutdown[1]: Failed to finalize  file systems, DM devices,
There are similar bug reports about finalrd failing, but none with this
particular list of busy filesystems, so filing a separate report.
2021-11-20 Thread Steve Langasek
> IMO it is out of scope for finalrd to unmount mounts
Er, this is nonsense. The entire point of finalrd is to ensure we pivot
to an initramfs after all other processes have been terminated, so that
it is possible to cleanly unmount the root filesystem with no errors.
For the root filesystem to be busy and failing to unmount is clearly a
bug in either systemd or finalrd.
[Bug 1951704] [NEW] Profanity freezes in a hung state when uplink connection is severed
2021-11-20 Thread Bill Yikes
Public bug reported:
When the Internet is unplugged, Profanity hangs.  It’s so frozen there
is no way to quit gracefully -- no way to enter “/quit”.  The only way
to terminate is to kill the process externally (“pkill profanity”).
I’ve seen Profanity hang at other times as well, so it may not always be
related to loss of connectivity.
[Bug 1951701] [NEW] systemd-resolved doesn't play well with dnsmasq cname entries
2021-11-20 Thread Jeffrey Falgout
Public bug reported:
See also https://community.ui.com/questions/USG-dnsmasq-cname-options-
not-playing-well-with-systemd-
resolved/11592045-d530-4f55-9cd2-9d45fc637e1d
I've set up my UniFi Security Gateway with dnsmasq so that I can resolve
local hostnames on my network. I can resolve most hostnames, except for
one: unifi.
$ nslookup unifi
Server: 127.0.0.53
Address:127.0.0.53#53
** server can't find unifi.lan: SERVFAIL
$ nslookup unifi.lan
Server: 127.0.0.53
Address:127.0.0.53#53
** server can't find unifi.lan: SERVFAIL
However, it works if I specifically query my router:
$ nslookup unifi 192.168.1.1
Server: 192.168.1.1
Address:192.168.1.1#53
unifi.lan   canonical name = unifi.
Name:   unifi
Address: 192.168.1.6
$ nslookup unifi.lan 192.168.1.1
Server: 192.168.1.1
Address:192.168.1.1#53
unifi.lan   canonical name = unifi.
Name:   unifi
Address: 192.168.1.6
So this seems specifically like a problem with systemd-resolved. Asking
systemd-resolved to resolve these hosts is interesting:
$ systemd-resolve unifi unifi.lan
unifi: 192.168.1.6 -- link: wlp2s0
-- Information acquired via protocol DNS in 6.4ms.
-- Data is authenticated: no
unifi.lan: resolve call failed: No appropriate name servers or networks for
name found
Following the steps
[here](https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSystemd#systemd-
resolved_:_DNS_resolution_issues) I captured some systemd-resolved logs:
 - unifi.lan error: https://pastebin.com/pjzUvQfi
 - unifi success: https://pastebin.com/QN8hD9a1
And I found a setting in the router that seemed to be causing the
problem. Removing that setting in my router resulted in this log:
 - unifi.lan success after deleting option cname:
https://pastebin.com/4csYdW5B
But ultimately this seems like a bug in systemd-resolved since things
seem to be working correctly if I take systemd-resolved out of the loop
[Bug 1951698] Re: under wayland items in menu bar sub-menus cannot be moved
2021-11-20 Thread Henning Sprang
Additional information/research:
In the "manage bookmarks" window, it appears to work fine to move the
items to the positions i want them to be.
Most of the time this works as expected, but sometimes they dont land
exactly where I placed them (as indicated by the line that appears as
soon as they are in dragging mode).
Also, while trying that and sorting bookmarks in multiple folders, I
experienced crashes of firefox. But that might be another but to report.
[Bug 1951699] [NEW] ubuntu-bug asks me to chose which firefox package I want to report a bug for but there is only one
2021-11-20 Thread Henning Sprang
Public bug reported:
When running "ubuntu-bug firefox", it asks me which package of firefox I
want to report the bug for and presents me a choice between the snap and
the deb version.
But the snap version is not actually installed.
I thing it was when I upgraded recently to 21.10, but I switched to the
deb version.
The software management GUI clearly shows that only one of two possible
options for firefox is installed, and that it's the deb, not the snap
version.
[Bug 1951698] [NEW] under wayland items in menu bar sub-menus cannot be moved
2021-11-20 Thread Henning Sprang
Public bug reported:
When running firefox on wayland, it appears to be impossible to move
bookmark items in the menu bar sub menus.
How to reproduce:
* haver a gnome session with wayland
* have the menu bar toolbar activated
* have a folder in the menu bar
* have multiple bookmarks in that folder
* click on the folder icon in the menu bar, when it opens, try to drag and drop
the item to put it into another position - e.g. from the last to the first
Expected result:
* the bookmark item is move to the new position - this is waht happens
when doing these steps with firefox on gnome with an xorg sessions.
Actual result: the item stays where it was.
similarly, i cannot drag and drop a new bookmark into a folder and out
it into the position where I want to have it.
These are standard extensions which come with the package
gnome-shell-extensions.
I uninstalled them anyway, as well as this one:
>   'appindicatorsupp...@rgcjonas.gmail.com'
Which was to fix a bug that Nextcloud didn't show up in the
appindicator.
It was marked as broken in the gnome extensions management tool but
also turned off.
I removed it additionally.
After logging out and back in, alt-tab worked again.
After installing gnome-shell-extensions back, logging out and in
again, it worked, too.
So, to me it looks like I dont have that problem anymore, thanks!
Probably gnome shell should be somehow more robust so and outdated
extension that is even recognized as such and disabled whouldn't break
other unrealted functionality, but I guess that's hard to debug.
Thanks a  lot.
Henning
[Bug 1951696] [NEW] kernel: general protection fault
2021-11-20 Thread Andrew Heninger
Public bug reported:
I started getting kernel general protection faults after upgrading to
kubuntu 21.10, from 21.04.
Has happened five times since then. Each time the crash happened when
closing a Google Chrome window. Each time, the Chrome window was left
partially transparent - the crash happened during the window fade-out
animation.
Sometimes the crash makes it into the syslog, sometimes it doesn't. When
it does, nvidia is on the call trace stack. A clip from a crash log is
attached.
I ran memtest86 V8.4. No failures. The machine had been completely
stable for years prior to the system upgrade.
[Bug 1907128] Re: Subiquity only provisions half of available space for root logical volume
2021-11-20 Thread Kevin Brannen
That's by design? So you think it's better to ignore what the user asked
for because you know what we want better than we do? That's so Microsoft
of you.
The result is you're making subiquity less dependable (will I get what I
ask for or not?) and less useful so that we have to work around it.
Thanks for the extra work ... and yes I'm upset about the software
taking a task that should be simple and making it harder.
Please reconsider this. This action it's doing now is a bug! If you want
to keep that action, at least add a flag (e.g. --useall) or something to
allow those of us who have reasons to do this to get what we need.
[Bug 1951692] [NEW] Backlight adjustment doesn't work on Lenovo Ideapad Duet 3i
2021-11-20 Thread Tobias Karnat
Public bug reported:
Duet 3i backlight doesn't work with kernel 5.13 on jammy alpha. But it
is currently the same kernel with witch impish runs.
I suspect it needs the parameter i915.enable_dpcd_backlight=1 to make it work.
However this function is broken since 5.12, please backport the following
upstream patches.
[Bug 1951399] Re: Ubuntu, Budgie, Kubuntu, Kylin, MATE, Xubuntu: jammy daily fails to install
2021-11-20 Thread Erich Eickmeyer 
To me, this looks like it might be due to a python version difference.
Minor python version changes have been known to break stuff, but I'm not
an expert in this. I'm tagging with rls-jj-incoming since that should
get the attention of the proper teams and marking this as triaged.
[Bug 1951686] [NEW] USB drives turns read-only when emptying Trash
2021-11-20 Thread Han Sol Jin
Public bug reported:
Ubuntu version: Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS
Nautilus version: 1:3.36.3-0ubuntu1.20.04.1
Overview:
Nautilus appears to move files to Trash when deleting files, regardless of what
drive it happens on. This threw me off for a bit as I never expected deleted
files to be moved into trash on a USB drive, I expected it to permanently
delete.
Expected behaviour:
After moving to Trash, when I empty the Trash, it should actually empty and
reclaim storage space.
Actual behaviour:
When emptying Trash, the entire USB drive turns read-only. This happened
regardless of what USB drive I tested. The Trash, also, doesn't actually get
emptied. Trying to delete the `.Trash-1000` folder in Terminal shows that it is
indeed read-only file system. Thinking it was corrupted I put the USB drive in
my MacBook Pro and it works there.
Deleted `.Trash-1000` on the MBP and now it works.
[Bug 1951685] [NEW] Chromium flatpak reliably crashes xdg-desktop-portal
2021-11-20 Thread Malte S. Stretz
Public bug reported:
For a while now I am facing the issue that Chromium installed via
Flatpak after a minute or so stops working with a puzzling error
ERR_NO_SUPPORTED_PROXIES.  I guess this is due to the Proxy feature of
the desktop portal because now I noticed that the portal is actually
crashing shortly after I started Chromium and/or started browsing.
According to the stack trace this happens in get_one_app_state so I
think this bug was fixed in version 1.7.0 with this patch:
https://github.com/flatpak/xdg-desktop-
portal/commit/a0b641f1230016e8ed9a291c70d4dd226429dda4
Could that fix please be backported to 1.6.0/focal?
[Bug 1951399] Re: Ubuntu, Budgie, Kubuntu, Kylin, MATE, Xubuntu: jammy daily fails to install
2021-11-20 Thread Bob H
Because this bug prevents completion of Jammy Jellyfish installation it
seems testing is halted for the time being until the issue is addressed.
As this situation arose on 8-11-2021 and it seems to have had no
attention since then I am guessing the developers consider this to be a
matter of little or no importance at this time.
I suspect that they are aware of what is holding things up and will
return the daily-live releases to a state where testing can resume when
they are ready.
I also reason that until then bug reports for Jammy will be of no value.
I will watch the proceedings with interest and wait until my efforts can
be of some use.
[Bug 1951680] [NEW] DDNet client server browser doesn't show most servers
2021-11-20 Thread Dennis Felsing
Public bug reported:
Hi,
I'm the upstream maintainer of DDNet. We have a bug currently on Ubuntu
that makes it impossible to see non-empty servers in the server browser
starting with DDNet 15.5: https://github.com/ddnet/ddnet/issues/4202
Fix is https://github.com/ddnet/ddnet/pull/4357
Would it be possible to fix ddnet 15.5.4 on Ubuntu with the patch? Otherwise it
is currently unusable. We are also in the process of releasing DDNet 15.7 with
this fix, but it will take a few days to release. The problem only occurs when
using system libjsonparser instead of our custom one, so our vendor releases
are not affected.
Cheers
Dennis
[Bug 1854588] Re: gdebi-gtk calls pkexec inappropriately
2021-11-20 Thread Lantizia
@Patrick Fasano (kc9jud)
I've just made a new blank VM, downloaded a fresh copy of the Ubuntu
MATE 20.04.3 amd64 ISO... and installed it (the only choices I made of
note were.. picking a Minimal install with 3rd party
firmware/codecs/etc..)
I can not confirm your findings.
I tried going to these sites to download their 64-bit .deb packages (follow the
most obvious links to download on each site)...
- nomachine.com
- teamviewer.com
- skype.com
And found that whether you...
a) allow Firefox to save to disk and afterwards open the .deb from within
Firefox (either from the Downloads button on the toolbar, or within the Library
window of Firefox)... or...
b) ask Firefox to 'Open with' the 'GDebi Package Installer (default)' upon it
finishing the download...
You get the same issue where GDebi opens but the 'Install Package'
button makes GDebi instantly close.
However (just as before), if you go to your Downloads folder in an
actual file manager (outside of a web browser like Firefox or Chrome)
and open the .deb... then the 'Install Package' button functions
normally.
Nothing has really changed with this bug at all... I'm pretty sure I
first noticed this way back in 14.04 (so this bug is now over 6 years
old in reality) and it's one of the worse experiences a first time user
of Linux could have.
Especially when you consider most have come from a world where a .exe or
a .dmg (when downloaded)... "Just works".
[Bug 1951678] [NEW] Sync micropython 1.17+ds-1.1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
2021-11-20 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Public bug reported:
Please sync micropython 1.17+ds-1.1 (universe) from Debian unstable
(main)
Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * Build with -Werror=maybe-uninitialized.
  * Build with -Werror=maybe-uninitialized.
  * Change subpkg_tried to a static variable to avoid clobbering by longjmp
(LP: #1931955)
  * No-change rebuild against libffi8ubuntu1
  * No-change rebuild against libffi8ubuntu1
  * No-change rebuild against libffi8ubuntu1
The extra -Werror=maybe-uninitialized build flag has been included in the
Debian package.
I am not sure about the other log entries mentioned above, since I
cannot see them in the diff generated by
https://patches.ubuntu.com/m/micropython/micropython_1.17+ds-1ubuntu1.patch
Changelog entries since current jammy version 1.17+ds-1ubuntu1:
micropython (1.17+ds-1.1) unstable; urgency=high
  * Non-maintainer upload.
  * debian/rules: Circumvent FTBFS with gcc 11 using
-Wno-error=maybe-uninitialized cflag. (Closes: #994239)
