installed Butterfly's solution as I've written in my earlier comment. This fix
works without any problem.

Actually i have an Inspiron 5593 with 18.04, but at some time i upgraded
the kernel to 5.4.0 instead of original 5.0. I suspect that 20.04 has

I am seeing the same behaviour in terms of CPU usage and time taken. A
14 page pdf took close to 4 minutes to print and all the while
pdftoraster process was utilizing 100% CPU as per "top".
