[Bug 1955001] [NEW] File reading speed is slow
Public bug reported: I created the user's home directory on the computer's mechanical hard drive, but the user's login speed is very slow, and the speed of viewing the file content in the desktop environment is slow. At the same time, I tested the hard disk read speed: hdparm -Tt /dev/sdb /dev/sdb: Timing cached reads: 23962 MB in 2.00 seconds = 11993.56 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 456 MB in 3.00 seconds = 151.78 MB/sec There is no problem with the read speed of the hard disk. And when I have a lot of data exchange while running a python program, the speed used to be 3s, but now it suddenly becomes 30-50s. The above is when my computer is running well. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1955001 Title: File reading speed is slow To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1955001/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1954998] [NEW] Add s0i3 support to AMD Sensor Fusion Hub (SFH) on Yellow Carp

[Bug 1954997] [NEW] non-root users can't query LDAP via nslcd starting in 21.04
Public bug reported: The core issue is that /var/run/nslcd is created with 750, not 755. nslcd.postinst creates /var/run/nslcd via adduser: adduser --system --group --home /var/run/nslcd/ \ --gecos "nslcd name service LDAP connection daemon" \ nslcd New in Ubuntu 21.04 is that HOME_MODE=750 is in login.defs. Now the permissions assigned to the /var/run/nslcd directory make it so non-root users can't communicate with nslcd via /var/run/nslcd/socket (so they can't run "getent passwd" and get any results from LDAP, for example). [Bug 1954575] Re: Ubuntu Server 20.04.3 (manual / autoinstall) keyboard layout not applied in console or decryption
** Description changed: I think the manual and autoinstall methods of Ubuntu Server 20.04.3 got a bug regarding the keyboard / keymap setup. This is not (or maybe could be) related to the setup where the configured keyboard layout gets forgotten throughout the different setup screens. I am installing with a specified keyboard layout but it won't get recognized until the system fully booted (aka login screen). So in console or in my case the decryption phase I cannot properly enter my secret. I think it switches back to the default en_US. I tried calling `update-initramfs -u` in target (and directly, too) during the late- commands phase on an autoinstall but it doesn't change anything. It will only work calling it once the system booted and I'm logged in. After being regenerated I have the proper keymap for the decryption. This also happens for a manual install using the live server 20.04.3 image right from source. I define the keyboard / locale in the appropriate section and it doesn't apply until the system booted. I can reproduce this in 10/10 cases using the manual install and autoinstall method. checked: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/subiquity/+bugs?orderby=importance=0 + + EDIT: And yes, probably cloud-init is responsible for it to be working + on login. [Bug 1947810] Re: autopkgtest-satdep.deb unpack fails on Debian images
** Description changed: + [Impact] + + dpkg defaults to the zstd compression format for compressing the members + in a deb package archive. This compression format is not supported in + Debian. Therefore, running autopkgtest from an Ubuntu (21.10) host on a + Debian target fails, since autopkgtest uses dpkg-deb to generate the + autopkgtest-satdep.deb package. + + [Test Plan] + + For any package with dep8 tests, run + + $ autopkgtest-build-lxd images:debian/sid + $ autopkgtest ./. -- lxd autopkgtest/debian/sid/amd64 + + and verify it fails with: + + autopkgtest [18:32:17]: build needed for binaries + autopkgtest [18:32:24]: ERROR: "dpkg --unpack /tmp/autopkgtest.4vFMyL/1-autopkgtest-satdep.deb" failed with stderr "dpkg-deb: error: archive '/tmp/autopkgtest.4vFMyL/1-autopkgtest-satdep.deb' uses unknown compression for member 'control.tar.zst', giving up + dpkg: error processing archive /tmp/autopkgtest.4vFMyL/1-autopkgtest-satdep.deb (--unpack): + dpkg-deb --control subprocess returned error exit status 2 + Errors were encountered while processing: + /tmp/autopkgtest.4vFMyL/1-autopkgtest-satdep.deb + + Then, upgrade the package to the version with the proposed fix and re- + run the tests + + $ autopkgtest ./. -- lxd autopkgtest/debian/sid/amd64 + + Finally, verify the error no longer occurs. + + [Where problems could occur] + + We will be enforcing the xz compression format. While this is available + in dpkg throughout all supported Ubuntu releases, this could become an + issue for targets that do not support such compression format. In this + case, the change would need to be reverted or changed to a compression + format supported by older versions of dpkg (i.e., gz). + + [Other Info] + + This have been fixed in jammy on 5.19. + + [Original message] + Since impish, dpkg defaults to the zstd compression format for compressing the members in a deb package archive [1,2]. However Debian zstd support efforts are still in progress [3]. Therefore, running autopkgtest from an Ubuntu (>= 21.10) host on a Debian target fails, since autopkgtest uses dpkg-deb to generate the autopkgtest-satdep.deb package. For instance, running the following commands for a given package $ autopkgtest-build-lxd images:debian/sid $ autopkgtest ./. -- lxd autopkgtest/debian/sid/amd64 results in the following error: autopkgtest [18:32:17]: build needed for binaries autopkgtest [18:32:24]: ERROR: "dpkg --unpack /tmp/autopkgtest.4vFMyL/1-autopkgtest-satdep.deb" failed with stderr "dpkg-deb: error: archive '/tmp/autopkgtest.4vFMyL/1-autopkgtest-satdep.deb' uses unknown compression for member 'control.tar.zst', giving up dpkg: error processing archive /tmp/autopkgtest.4vFMyL/1-autopkgtest-satdep.deb (--unpack): - dpkg-deb --control subprocess returned error exit status 2 + dpkg-deb --control subprocess returned error exit status 2 Errors were encountered while processing: - /tmp/autopkgtest.4vFMyL/1-autopkgtest-satdep.deb + /tmp/autopkgtest.4vFMyL/1-autopkgtest-satdep.deb [1] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dpkg/+bug/1923845 [2] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dpkg/+bug/1923845/comments/34 [3] https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=892664 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1947810 Title: autopkgtest-satdep.deb unpack fails on Debian images To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autopkgtest/+bug/1947810/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1728423] Re: [BPO] debhelper/13.5+
this isn't backported in hirsute or impish, as those both already have debhelper 13, though it's 13.3, not 13.5. I'll mark those releases as wontfix, but if the 13.5 (or newer) version is needed in hirsute and/or impish, feel free to reopen them and/or upload backports. Note that per the backports process, it's not necessary to backport into interim releases, though it is allowed when needed; and debhelper does qualify for backporting into interim releases, if needed. ** Changed in: debhelper (Ubuntu Hirsute) Status: In Progress => Won't Fix ** Changed in: debhelper (Ubuntu Impish) Status: In Progress => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1728423 Title: [BPO] debhelper/13.5+ To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debhelper/+bug/1728423/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This bug was fixed in the package grub2 - 2.06-2ubuntu3 --- grub2 (2.06-2ubuntu3) jammy; urgency=medium * Cherry-pick the missing hunk back that changes parameter loading in grub-core/loader/i386/linux.c, this should fix booting on BIOS systems. * Fix the fallback for kernel addresses on amd64 EFI, if the kernel could not be allocated at the preferred address, reset errno such that if the 2nd allocation succeeds, we do not fail erroneously. -- Julian Andres Klode Mon, 13 Dec 2021 14:27:53 +0100 ** Changed in: grub2 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1892290 Title: PXE load Focal initrd.img-5.4.0-42-generic always timeout To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1892290/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1954930] Re: AMD: Suspend not working when some cores are disabled through cpufreq
SRU: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/kernel- team/2021-December/126645.html (oem-5.14/impish/jammy) ** Description changed: + [SRU Justification] + + [Impact] + + Detailed in https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/1708, taking + some cpu cores offline using cpufreq gadgets or via sysfs may hang the + system. + + [Fix] + + In v5.16-rc1 commit d6b88ce2eb9d ("ACPI: processor idle: Allow playing + dead in C3 state") fixes this issue. + + [Test Case] + + As stated in aforementioned bug url, setup cpufreq extention to take + down a few cpu cores, and trigger system suspend. There are ~50% chances + that networking/input/... would hang and the user can only reboot by + sysrq keys. + + [Where problems could occur] + + According to the patch discussion thread in + https://lore.kernel.org/linux-acpi/20210922133116.102-1-richard.g...@amd.com/, + the limitation to allow enter_dead in no more than ACPI_STATE_C2 might + not have a practical meaning, but simply C2 was the deepest supported + then. + + [Other Info] + + While this is currently only available in v5.16-rc1 and affects AMD + Cezanne/Barcelo, oem-5.14/impish and jammy are nominated. + + == original bug report == + https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/1708 Reproduce steps: 1. Install cpufeq gnome extension (https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1082/cpufreq/) 2. Click on the cpu freq extention in the top bar 3. Slide the "cores online" from 16 to 3 4. close lid of laptop Expected result: the laptop goes into suspend Actual result: the laptop stay on but screen is now always black and keyboard input is ignored Fix committed to v5.16-rc1: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/d6b88ce2eb9d2698eb24451eb92c0a1649b17bb1 - --- + --- ProblemType: Bug ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27.20 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: - USERPID ACCESS COMMAND - /dev/snd/controlC1: ubuntu 1188 F pulseaudio - /dev/snd/controlC2: ubuntu 1188 F pulseaudio - /dev/snd/controlC0: ubuntu 1188 F pulseaudio + USERPID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC1: ubuntu 1188 F pulseaudio + /dev/snd/controlC2: ubuntu 1188 F pulseaudio + /dev/snd/controlC0: ubuntu 1188 F pulseaudio CasperMD5CheckResult: skip Dependencies: - + DistributionChannelDescriptor: - # This is the distribution channel descriptor for the OEM CDs - # For more information see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DistributionChannelDescriptor - canonical-oem-somerville-focal-amd64-20200502-85+fossa-edge-staging+X152 + # This is the distribution channel descriptor for the OEM CDs + # For more information see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DistributionChannelDescriptor + canonical-oem-somerville-focal-amd64-20200502-85+fossa-edge-staging+X152 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 InstallationDate: Installed on 2021-09-09 (97 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 20.04 "Focal" - Build amd64 LIVE Binary 20200502-05:58 IwConfig: - lono wireless extensions. - - enp1s0f0 no wireless extensions. + lono wireless extensions. + + enp1s0f0 no wireless extensions.
