[Bug 1959367] [NEW] Ubuntu 20.04 freeze after few seconds on an hp 15-dw1069nl
Public bug reported: Some days ago I helped one of my friends who bough an HP laptop (15-dw1069nl ... Intel i7-10510U - nvidia GM108M(GeForce MX130)). I installed Ubuntu 20.04 on it without problems (not checked every details thought). He said that the problem happened after an update. After a few secs after it boots, it freezes. No way to do anything. I tried myself ... it happens even in the emergency console (i.e. without X...)! I tried reinstalling Ubuntu 20.04 myself. Yes, it fixes it...but true, until the next update! After the update... count 1 to 5 after the boot and it is completely frozen. For the time being I resolved installing an oem kernel version (linux-image-oem-20.04d -> linux-image-5.14.0-1020-oem and fixed nvidia driver after install of package linux-oem-20.04d which installed the missing kernel headers files... BTW: - the driver panel says that wifi does not work (RTL 8169) but actually it works flawlessly - the screen brightness keys do not work (but the sound keys do work). It's probably only the keys, since using the cursor, luckily, you can regulate the screen backlight. xev report no key press at all... I am reporting this mainly for a heads up to the Ubuntu dev folks because I, somehow - but I do not know exactly how - resolved, and probably the same problems happen to the whole hp 15-sw10xx series... Please note that I have not direct access to that machine. So I may can additional tests in the future but not easily/immediately. lsb_release -d Description:Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1959367 Title: Ubuntu 20.04 freeze after few seconds on an hp 15-dw1069nl To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1959367/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Enable 4G modem and connect to AT&T apn $ sudo mmcli -i 0 --pin= $ sudo mmcli --modem 0 --enable $ sudo mmcli -m 0 --simple-connect="pin=,apn=emome" $ sudo nmcli radio wwan on $ sudo nmcli connection add type gsm ifname wwan0p2MBIM con-name mymodem apn emome $ sudo nmcli connection up id mymodem 3. Check if the MTU got from the following results are the same: $ sudo mmcli --bearer 5 | mtu $ ifconfig mhi_mbim0 | grep mtu * Expected result: Both MTUs are the same value 1430 * Actual tested result: Different values (one is 1430 , another is 1500) [Where problems could occur] Very low. This is a simple fix: network-manager gets the MTU from the ModemManager then sets the MTU of the modem interface. [Other info] 1. Network-manager v1.30.0-1ubuntu3 in hirsute has included the fix. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1955797 Title: [SRU] network-manager can’t modify MTU automatically based on what ModemManager exposes for WWAN modems. [Bug 1959347] [NEW] Inconsistent Device Name (/dev/sdX) on every few reboots in Ubuntu 20.04
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When installing guest OS (Ubuntu 20.04) on a Host provisioned by Red Hat Satellite, Ubuntu 20.04 will be installed to the Host successfully on device name /dev/sda at RAID 1 under Marvell RAID controller. However, the disk name label may change after few times of reboot. The boot drive devname changes from /dev/sda to /dev/sdi or sometimes to /dev/sdj. In addition, the Host system consists of two add-on Raid Controllers cards (one is MARVELL RAID and the other is Broadcom 3008 IT) for cache and data storage usage. I have an identical Host system with the same BOM that has no issue at all, that is the boot drive devname remains the same on /dev/sda even rebooting the Host system for several times. I fully understand that the mapping of a device to a drive letter is not a guaranteed to always be the same due to various reasons. But from Ubuntu point of view, What really causes the drive naming letter changes during reboot? Appreciate if someone could shed some lights on this issue about the inconsistencies of device name after reboot. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Inconsistent Device Name (/dev/sdX) on every few reboots in Ubuntu 20.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1959347 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1959348] [NEW] Linux Mint kernels 5.13.0-21, -22, -23, -25, & -27 Induce Laptop Screen Crash
Public bug reported: Please accept my apologies up front for any inefficiencies this format may induce, as I'm a very casual user who has just started to scratch the surface of Linux distro usage. I have read the instructions on the report submission page and I believe I am following the guidance, but if I'm not it's because of unfamiliarity and general ignorance. I beg for your patience and understanding. For the listed kernels in the summary line (kernels 5.13.0-21, -22, -23, -25, and -27), my Acer Swift 3 laptop's screen crashes/reverts to snow/white noise immediately whenever the following conditions are met: 1) Any video peripheral is connected to the laptop via the HDMI port directly or through a USB-C hub with HDMI input AND 2) The "Mirror" selection is toggled in the Display Manager GUI OR 3) The HDMI cable is removed from the HDMI port/USB-C hub I can confirm that: 1) The HDMI cable is not the culprit because this issue doesn't manifest itself with Win10 or with Manjaro Linux, and 2) running Linux Mint 20.3 with the 5.11.0-46 kernel does not manifest any of the described screen crash issues listed above. That is to say, the laptop and peripheral HDMI display run stably/without issue while running Linux Mint 20.3 kernel 5.11.0-46 For your diagnostic consideration: System Info: [code] System:Kernel: 5.11.0-46-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: N/A Desktop: Cinnamon 5.2.7 wm: muffin dm: LightDM Distro: Linux Mint 20.3 Una base: Ubuntu 20.04 focal Machine: Type: Laptop System: Acer product: Swift SF314-42 v: V1.10 serial: Mobo: RO model: Kona_RN v: V1.10 serial: UEFI: Insyde v: 1.10 date: 05/13/2021 Battery: ID-1: BAT1 charge: 15.4 Wh condition: 49.2/47.8 Wh (103%) volts: 10.9/11.2 model: LGC AP18C8K serial: status: Discharging CPU: Topology: 8-Core model: AMD Ryzen 7 4700U with Radeon Graphics bits: 64 type: MCP arch: Zen rev: 1 L2 cache: 4096 KiB flags: avx avx2 lm nx pae sse sse2 sse3 sse4_1 sse4_2 sse4a ssse3 svm bogomips: 31938 Speed: 1397 MHz min/max: 1400/2000 MHz Core speeds (MHz): 1: 1397 2: 1397 3: 1396 4: 1397 5: 1908 6: 1761 7: 1736 8: 2286 Graphics: Device-1: AMD Renoir vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: amdgpu v: kernel bus ID: 03:00.0 chip ID: 1002:1636 Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.13 driver: amdgpu, ati unloaded: fbdev, modesetting, vesa resolution: 1920x1080~60Hz, 1920x1080~60Hz OpenGL: renderer: llvmpipe (LLVM 12.0.0 256 bits) v: 4.5 Mesa 21.0.3 compat-v: 3.1 direct render: Yes Audio: Device-1: AMD vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel bus ID: 03:00.1 chip ID: 1002:1637 Device-2: AMD Raven/Raven2/FireFlight/Renoir Audio Processor vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: snd_rn_pci_acp3x v: kernel bus ID: 03:00.5 chip ID: 1022:15e2 Device-3: AMD Family 17h HD Audio vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel bus ID: 03:00.6 chip ID: 1022:15e3 Sound Server: ALSA v: k5.11.0-46-generic Network: Device-1: Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 driver: iwlwifi v: kernel bus ID: 01:00.0 chip ID: 8086:2723 IF: wlp1s0 state: up mac: Drives:Local Storage: total: 931.51 GiB used: 28.05 GiB (3.0%) ID-1: /dev/nvme0n1 vendor: Western Digital model: WDBRPG0010BNC-WRSN size: 931.51 GiB speed: 31.6 Gb/s lanes: 4 serial: Partition: ID-1: / size: 183.37 GiB used: 28.03 GiB (15.3%) fs: ext4 dev: /dev/nvme0n1p5 USB: Hub: 1-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 4 rev: 2.0 chip ID: 1d6b:0002 Device-1: 1-4:6 info: Intel type: Bluetooth driver: btusb rev: 2.0 chip ID: 8087:0029 Hub: 2-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 2 rev: 3.1 chip ID: 1d6b:0003 Hub: 3-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 4 rev: 2.0 chip ID: 1d6b:0002 Device-2: 3-1:2 info: LighTuning EgisTec EH575 type: driver: N/A rev: 2.0 chip ID: 1c7a:0575 Device-3: 3-4:3 info: Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse with Tilt Wheel type: Mouse driver: hid-generic,usbhid rev: 2.0 chip ID: 045e:00d2 Hub: 4-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 2 rev: 3.1 chip ID: 1d6b:0003 Sensors: System Temperatures: cpu: 41.8 C mobo: N/A gpu: amdgpu temp: 40 C Fan Speeds (RPM): N/A Repos: No active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list Active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave-browser-release.list 1: deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg arch=amd64] https: //brave-browser-apt-release.s3.brave.com/ stable main Active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/google-chrome.list 1: deb [arch=amd64] https: //dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/ stable main Active apt repos in: /et

If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-focal' to 'verification-done-focal'. If the problem still exists, change the tag 'verification-needed-focal' to 'verification-failed-focal'. If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed. [Bug 1958904] Re: autopkgtest is failing on jammy with "no space left on device"
Historically, we have sought to avoid publishing to -updates of SRUs that only fix autopkgtests because fixing the autopkgtests does not change the behavior of the package in a way that benefits the end user and justifies the download cost. However, between the fact that this is initramfs-tools, and the recent changes to the behavior of proposed-migration, I think it's important that an exception be made here. The initramfs-tools package is critical to how our systems boot, and we cannot afford to have regressions in test coverage of this package. If an update to the Linux kernel has the consequence that the baseline (i.e. in -updates) for initramfs-tools has regressed, this means that any future packages which trigger initramfs- tools autopkgtests will NOT have their SRUs blocked by test failures, whether or not they have introduced further regressions in initramfs- tools. Unless we land this package in -updates, ensuring that we have a green baseline. ** Tags removed: block-proposed-focal block-proposed-impish -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1958904 Title: autopkgtest is failing on jammy with "no space left on device" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/1958904/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1953052] Re: In Jammy sound level reset after reboot
It's a bit weird, trying in a VM in a simple wmaker session, changing the level in pavucontrol and restarting the machine the sound is correctly restored on the same position after the restart so the systemd unit seems to be working as expected. Could someone having the issue change the level, restart, check that the level is indeed wrong and if it is get a log from the previous session with 'journalctl -b 1 > log' and add the log file to the report? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1953052 Title: In Jammy sound level reset after reboot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-utils/+bug/1953052/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
