[Bug 1959362] Re: "Launch using dedicated graphics card" option absent (nvidia, proprietary drivers, on-demand PRIME mode)

2022-02-05 Thread jeremyszu
yes, FWIK, we incline to provide the LTS branch (stable) for Ubuntu users.
For some cutting edge graphic cards, which will use 495 (since 470 doesn't
support) and the 495 will eventually upgrade to next LTS version (FWIK, 510) in
the future.

The installation logic is implemented in ubuntu-drivers-common.

[Bug 1955109] Re: boot menu not appearing after manual install of jellyfish daily build alongside other OS

2022-02-05 Thread Bob H
@ Norbert (nrbrtx)
to overcome this bug, until some sort of fix is applied by the developers:

while logged into Jammy Jellyfish navigate to /etc/default/grub
and add the following line and save:

GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=false

After the edit, in the console, run:

sudo update-grub

The grub menu will be set up and other operating systems on the device
will be displayed next time the system starts.

(Unfortunately this is viewed as a security problem, which has yet to be
addressed.)

2022-02-05 Thread jeremyszu
Hi Max,

The description looks to me that you are concerning the mic-mute-LED is ON in
the boot time even if microphone is unmuted.
Thus,
1. does the mic mute function key works as expected (press mute/unmute keys
could change the LED to correct status)?
2. does the mic mute function key works in previous kernel?

[Bug 1960154] [NEW] Sync mediawiki 1:1.35.5-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2022-02-05 Thread Kunal Mehta
Public bug reported:

Please sync mediawiki 1:1.35.5-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * d/p/php8.1-increase-formatjson-timeout.patch: Avoid dep8 failure on
armhf architecture due to FormatJson timeout during page rendering
in Apache2.
* Patched in Debian a bit differently so it only affects autopkgtests, see

.
  * d/t/assert-http: Make it easier to debug autopkgtest failures.
Use (unreleased) Debian changes suggested by Kunal Mehta.
* Included in Debian.
  * d/t/install-[mysql|postgresql|sqlite]: Drop per-test check in favor of
Debian's approach.
* n/a
  * d/t/install-[mysql|postgresql|sqlite]: Dump error.log on failure
* n/a

Changelog entries since current jammy version 1:1.35.5-1ubuntu3:

mediawiki (1:1.35.5-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  [ Lucas Werkmeister ]
  * Remove PHP 5 support from mediawiki.conf

  [ Kunal Mehta ]
  * Make it easier to debug autopkgtest failures
  * Increase PHP's max_execution_time for autopkgtests to 300s, thanks
to Paul Gevers and Bryce Harrington for input and helping test.

Also, I'd say if any of the interfaces *ever* had  v6 addresses, then
there would be entries in the fdb and mdb.

But on these systems we have:

net.ipv6.conf.all.autoconf = 0

before the interfaces are created.

[Bug 1959702] Re: Regression: ip6 ndp broken, host bridge doesn't add vlan guest entry to mdb

2022-02-05 Thread Jay Vosburgh
Harry,

I am attempting to reproduce the behavior you describe, but have been
unable to do so. Could you clarify some of the configuration specifics,
as follows:

Starting with step 2,

"2. On the host, create a bridge and vlan with two ports, each with the
chosen vlan as PVID and egress untagged. Assign those ports one each to
the guests as the interface, use e1000. Be sure to NOT autoconfigure the
host side of the bridge ports with any ip4 or ip6 address (including
fe80::), [...]"

I have configured testbr0 with no addresses, i.e., "ip addr show":

15: testbr0: mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue state UP
group default qlen 1000
link/ether 8c:dc:d4:b3:cb:f1 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

and added vnet1 and vnet3 (the interfaces that connect to the VMs), to
testbr0, and removing their respective fe80: addresses. I set the bridge
vlan behavior via

bridge vlan add dev vnet1 vid 1234 pvid untagged
bridge vlan add dev vnet3 vid 1234 pvid untagged
bridge vlan del dev vnet1 vid 1
bridge vlan del dev vnet3 vid 1

then added a separate Ethernet device to the testbr0, removed its fe80:
address, and set its bridge vlan as

bridge vlan add dev eno50 vid 1234
bridge vlan del dev eno50 vid 1

Adding addresses to the interfaces within the VMs results in ping between
the two functioning (even in the face of "ip neigh flush dev enp7s0").

At no time does "bridge mdb" affect the behavior (it lists no entries),
and it in unnecessary to add ff02:ffxx entries as you describe in step 6
(I presume that your mention of "fe02::ff..." is a typo for "ff02").

I am testing with the Ubuntu 5.11.0-46 kernel, which differs slightly from
your 5.11.0-49. From which version did you upgrade (i.e., what was the
last known working version)? I'm preparing to test with 5.11.0-50 (I am
unable to locate -49), but would also like to know if the above
description matches your configuration.

Thanks.

[Bug 1927063] Re: Terminal prompt got strangely replicated when resizing terminal horizontally

2022-02-05 Thread William Andrea
I can reproduce the same issue with Python and Node interpreters. I
think the problem is related to readline, because the issue only affects
the line where the cursor is, and if I launch Python without it (gnome-
terminal -- python3 -I), I can't reproduce the issue.

[Bug 1371928] Re: Main window content fully transparent

2022-02-05 Thread Brian Wright
Sorry to spam this thread. While GIMP loads with a normal GUI, it appears
Wayland is not yet a valid solution after all. I seem to have a misconfigured
system. Now, Nvidia X Server Settings has a completely empty GUI. Videos do not
play in VLC. "llvmpipe" is now my graphics card. I'm probably using 8-bpp color
again. If I successfully get Wayland working with 10-bit color channels, I can
update if the same color issue occurs as with Xorg.

2022-02-05 Thread Anders Kaseorg
David Hess’s analysis is correct. This is a bug in the ARM64 assembly
for Poly1305, introduced in

https://github.com/openssl/openssl/commit/2cf7fd698ec1375421f91338ff8a44e7da5238b6
(OpenSSL_1_1_1b~37)

and fixed upstream in

https://github.com/openssl/openssl/commit/5795acffd8706e1cb584284ee5bb3a30986d0e75
(OpenSSL_1_1_1i~21).

This fix needs to be backported to focal.

2022-02-05 Thread Brian Wright
Switching back to Wayland fixed the GUI (for #11 only; I can't speak for
the rest of the thread). To do this, I had to add nvidia-drm.modeset=1
to the assignment GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in /etc/default/grub, then
run sudo update-grub and reboot.

[Bug 1371928] Re: Main window content fully transparent

2022-02-05 Thread Brian Wright
Maybe a special case because of hardware, but I encountered a semi-
transparent GUI today.

The main window is mostly transparent as well as each dock except for
titles and menus, which are correctly dark grey. I state "mostly"
transparent because everything visible through the transparent regions
is a moderately brighter color. The brushes all have transparent
backgrounds, cyan symbols, a magenta lower-right arrow to select other
brushes, and a solid green hover background. The color picker colors are
only visible if the window behind is dark, and parts of the color ranges
go full magenta as I choose colors.

NUC11 with a transplanted Dell XPS hard drive (did not reformat, just apt
upgrade and installed nvidia driver 495)
Nvidia RTX 2060 + Iris Xe; monitor plugged into dGPU
10-bit color (set in xorg.conf.d and confirmed in /var/log and via screen test)
Ubuntu 21.10, GNOME 40.4.0, X11 (was Wayland on the XPS), 5.13.0-28-generic
GIMP 2.10.24 via apt (not flatpak)

There's no compiz on my machine, but I installed the settings-manager to
double check if the solutions above work. As expected, animations is not
even an installed module, so I removed the settings-manager. I also
disabled GNOME extensions in case those had side effects.

Because of the color artifacts (especially the magenta at the ends of
each color channel) and how this affects the UI (not related to color
intent or color space), I suspect the 10-bit color is the source of the
unwanted behavior, but I don't have a good explanation. (Although, I
suspect I am not the first person to use a 10-bit monitor and dGPU with
GIMP.)

To exonerate the GPU, monitor, kernel, GTK, etc.: Darktable, VLC,
RawTherapee, and Inkscape have no issues and can display 10-bit and
8-bit gradient comparisons successfully.

[Bug 1959918] Re: Build failure with Python 3.10

2022-02-05 Thread Heinrich Schuchardt
The build errors relating to collections using Python 3.10 where fixed
with patch e08753b3ebbcca2c7 in keras v2.7.0. The current version is
v2.8.0.

I guess we should upgrade to the v2.8.0 upstream instead of patching an
outdated version.

reproduce them.

I ran that apport command but got this message:

[Bug 1959421] Re: [22.04 FEAT] Upgrade libica to latest version (crypto) (v4.0)

2022-02-05 Thread Frank Heimes
Since an updated version (4.0.1) came on short notice that incl. some fixes,
I've removed the old debdiff and attached this new one.
A test build in PPA (https://launchpad.net/~fheimes/+archive/ubuntu/lp1959421)
is fine,
no lintian errors nor warning (using -EvIL +pedantic)
and the test is fine:
=
Testsuite summary for libica 4.0.1
=
# TOTAL: 54
# PASS:  32
# SKIP:  22
# XFAIL: 0
# FAIL:  0
# XPASS: 0
# ERROR: 0
=

Regarding comment #4, the updated version of openssl-ibmca v2.2.2
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1960004) works now fine with libica
v4.0.1 (it even worked with v4.0.0, but I've build with 4.0.1 again,
since one can never be sure ...)
