[Bug 1965521] Re: named.service starts too early: Unable to fetch DNSKEY set '.': failure

2022-03-22 Thread Nick Tait
Hi Paride.

The fundamental problem I see with your last statement is how do you
know what "the right one(s)" are? That will depend on BIND
configuration, such as whether named is launched with a '-4' or '-6'
option, and possibly even the value of configuration options such as
'listen-on' and 'listen-on-v6'?

Perhaps if we start with the 'need' that BIND has, and then work
backwards, we will converge on a solution?

Here is my thinking:
1. The "Unable to fetch DNSKEY set '.': failure" error results from BIND trying
to query the root DNS servers when it starts up, but not having the requisite
level of network connectivity to do so.
2. In order to access the root DNS servers, the host needs access to the
Internet...
3. The best indicator that Internet connectivity is available is the presence
of a default route.
4. The default route requirement could be met by IPv4 or IPv6, so this could be
satisfied by either of the following:
* The IPv4 'main' routing table contains an entry for "0.0.0.0/0"
* The IPv6 'main' routing table contains an entry for "::/0"
5. Therefore I believe we need a command that can be added as an 'ExecStartPre'
option in named.service, that will wait until either of the above conditions
(described in 5 above) are met.
6. Some potential solutions could be:
a) Invocation of "systemd-networkd-wait-online" with a combination of
existing parameters that the program will interpret to mean "wait until either
of the requirements described in 5 above are met".
b) Invocation of "systemd-networkd-wait-online" with a new parameter that
the program will interpret to mean "wait until either of the requirements
described in 5 above are met".
c) Use of a different (new?) tool whose specific purpose is to "wait until
either of the requirements described in 5 above are met".
7. Whichever solution is chosen, the tool should be generic enough that it can
be used for other services, and should provide the ability to select only IPv4
or only IPv6, or both. This should be controlled via a command-line parameter,
which for consistency with other Linux programs should be:
* "-4" = use only IPv4, even if the host machine is capable of IPv6.
* "-6" = use only IPv6, even if the host machine is capable of IPv4.
* Specifying neither option should mean both IPv4 and IPv6.
* NB: "-4" and "-6" are mutually exclusive.

My suggestion in my earlier comment #4 is an example of solution (a),
but it doesn't satisfy 7 above. So I concede there are other (better)
options that probably need to be considered?

Keen to hear your thoughts?

Thanks,
Nick.

[Bug 1966017] [NEW] enable upstream python testsuite in autopkgtests

2022-03-22 Thread Alex Murray
Public bug reported:

Currently the upstream python-based testsuite for nftables is disabled
in the autopkgtests in debian/tests/control as follows:

# Disable test until we decide what to do with the nftables python module
#Tests: internaltest-py.sh
#Depends: @, python
#Restrictions: needs-root, allow-stderr, isolation-container, build-needed

This should be enabled to ensure testing is as comprehensive as this is
in the process of getting promoted to main.

[Bug 1966010] [NEW] Fix audio on Zbook Studio G9

2022-03-22 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
Cirrus Logic AMP still doesn't work on Zbook Studio G9. Moreoever, The
audio mute LEDs stop working after the said SRU.

[Fix]
Correcly interpret the debounce time from ACPI to gpiolib, and apply the
correct quirk for the audio mute LEDs.

[Where problems could occur]
It's possible that some hardwares rely on the "wrong" debounce time to
work, however the fix is to increase the debounce time, so it's more
forgiving than decreasing.

The LED fix is only applied to one system, so it's specifi and won't
cause too much trouble.

[Bug 1965968] Re: post jammy update, black/flickering screen on boot

2022-03-22 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Please try adding kernel parameter: i915.enable_psr=0

Although if kernel 5.13 works then I suspect it may be a relation of bug
1965882. As I dig deeper into that one it seems like a general kernel
bug that's not specific to nouveau at all.

[Bug 1876979] Re: package lxd 3.0.3-0ubuntu1~18.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: new lxd package pre-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1

2022-03-22 Thread Stéphane Graber
Just tested this update with a running container and the upgrade went through
correctly.
It's hard to tell if this would have normally failed given that based on the
output, shmounts and devlxd weren't mounted at the time things got purged but
it at least shows that the potentially problematic case upgrades properly and
that things didn't regress.

Just tested this by running the new package on an Ubuntu 18.04 system

The prompt showed up as expected and indeed just offered 3.0 and 4.0 with 4.0
selected as default.
Upgrade worked and container is still functional on the 4.0 snap.

[Bug 1965998] Re: Fresh Ubuntu Install Crash

2022-03-22 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems, thus preventing future
users from hitting the same bug. You seem to need support more than have
issues with a bug (your issue could be hardware related or lots of
things).

Because of media validation fail; errors can be expected and what is
reported in the logs may not be trustworthy, due to potentially bad
coded read from a invalid ISO or bad write of ISO to installation media.

I do note

Mar 22 23:53:58 ubuntu kernel: [ 1022.718621] EXT4-fs error (device sdb2):
htree_dirblock_to_tree:1027: inode #4720121: comm find: Directory block failed

Mar 22 23:53:58 ubuntu kernel: [ 1022.719481] EXT4-fs (sdb2): Remounting

I'd check the health of device sdb -

2022-03-22 Thread vmware-gos-Yuhua
> So the question remains where does it come from in your case ... ??!?
Does your install on ESXi use any different customization feature that might
add this?

Steps:
1. I get the ISO from
https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/jammy-desktop-amd64.iso

2. Create VM in ESXi

3. Install guest OS with this image jammy-desktop-amd64.iso. It have two
modes "normal" and "minimal" during the installing and I choose the
"normal" mode. (Note: with the normal node, it will install media
player, )

4. reboot after finished installation

5. login system, type "apt-get update" in terminal

6. input "apt-get purge open-vm-tools" in terminal

7. input "apt-get install open-vm-tools" in terminal

Hit the issue with steps 6 and 7

Best regards
Yuhua Zou

2022-03-22 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello Corey, or anyone else affected,

Accepted manila into impish-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/manila/1:13.0.0-0ubuntu2 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
impish to verification-done-impish. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-impish. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1965999] [NEW] Very laggy input when using 'at_keyboard.mod'

2022-03-22 Thread David
Public bug reported:

I use grub 2.04-1ubuntu26.13.

I wanted an localized keyboard layout in Grub so I used this script:

https://gist.github.com/cw2k/5b4d7a1dc3715ce368220b708874ac90#file-01_keyboard_layout-
sh

In short at this creates a keyboard layout file (/boot/grub/layouts/de.gkb)
that is used in grub like this:
 insmod keylayouts
 keymap de

To finally make it work I need to change the terminal input from 'console' to
'at_keyboard'
 terminal_input at_keyboard
I got the desired German keyboard layout however now the input problem are
starting.
I need to hold a key for about 3 seconds until some output is shown. Also it
quickly starts to beep on every key press and completely blocks any further
input.
That beep is an indication from the bios that whats to say the keyboard buffer
is full.
It seem that grub is somehow not correctly getting the 'scan codes' from the
keyboard buffer. There seems to be a hidden bug in this.

Well I use an logitech usb-keyboard. On a Dell Optiplex 755 with BIOS A22
release on 04 Jan 2013. However I mostly test my boot config it with Qemu
(Phoenix Bios) or Virtual box on some other machine whose CPU as that need
VT-support that Virtual box needs.
With the same results.

Okay to the problem when I do.
 terminal_input --append at_keyboard
 terminal_input --append usb_keyboard

and enter 'terminal_input'
it says 'at_keyboard' and 'console' are active. However input is now also wacky.
It JUmpS SPOntaIousLY between upper and lower case. If hold the 'z'-key on a
German keyboard
it will look like this 'zZZzz'
It jumps between 'console' and 'at_keyboard'
If I manage it like this the enter
"terminal_input --remove at_keyboard"
it works again normal. However just with the standard us-keyboard.
"terminal_input --remove console"

Will make things worse. Unplugging and plugging back the USB-keyboard
helps to clean the buffer and enables me to enter some more chars until
it quickly gets jammed again.

Well some idea I just got put have not tested is what will happen if I have two
usb keyboards attached...
Anyway if someone likes to have a look at this. Hope you can reproduce this bug.
Got luck and thank ya in advance.

[Bug 1965997] [NEW] Merge rainloop 1.16.0 for jammy

2022-03-22 Thread Bryce Harrington
Public bug reported:

We had some added delta on 1.14 to minimally enable PHP 8.0, but better
fixes are available in Debian via 2 newer upstream releases. These
don't add new features (so I think are ok to do without FFe's), just
fixes and some refactoring.

rainloop is also a leaf node, so there's not stuff depending on it, so
if there are any potential regressions they will be limited to just this
package.

1.16.0

Fixed parsing problems of IMAP commands (folder names)
Fixed closure warnings (#2087)
Update dependencies
Synchronize localizations from Transifex
Fixes and code improvements

1.15.0

Updated code to support PHP 8
Update dependencies
Synchronize localizations from Transifex
Fixes and code improvements

Looks like that nugget was, indeed, the issue. Since the issue is mostly
isolated to Ubuntu Studio, we won't worry about Lubuntu in this case and
the fix can go in the native calamares-settings-ubuntu package.

[Bug 1964545] Re: 42beta: moving mouse as screen is fading to screensaver prevents input to shell

2022-03-22 Thread Matthew Ruffell
Hi Daniel,

I built "clutter: Mark clutter_stage_grab() return value as transfer
full" from https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/2189 into
mutter 42~beta-1ubuntu2 in a ppa and installed it.

I rebooted, and changed back to 1 minute fade time, and reproduced the
issue, so that particular issue is unrelated.

Would you like me to build mutter master branch or another component and
try? I was going to try GNOME OS, but there was no live media, and it
was install only, and I can't reproduce inside KVM (it never fades to
black in virt-manager).

[Bug 1965995] [NEW] [FFe]Lubuntu wallpaper is outdated for Jammy

2022-03-22 Thread Dan Simmons
Public bug reported:

The Lubuntu Artwork package does not have new wallpaper to reflect the
Jammy Jellyfish release. Regression potential is low since only
wallpaper and an updated copyright are needed. Possible issues would be
incorrect artwork or no artwork shown for wallpaper and will only impact
Lubuntu. Further testing from the Lubuntu team before release will take
place.

[Bug 1965535] Re: Stop recommending snap

2022-03-22 Thread Ivan
So far, 12 people have already indicated that this bug affects them
(several giving more detailed descriptions). This bug is now in the top
5 of open bugs with most heat for ubuntu-meta.

Given that others are affected, would it be reasonable to set the status
to Confirmed so it is given further consideration?

[Bug 1965652] Re: machine froze when upgrading impish->jammy

2022-03-22 Thread Brian Murray
This sounds like a crash reported in bug 1963758. Could you please look
in /var/crash/ for any crash files from gnome-shell and add them to the
either this bug report or bug 1963758? Also if you do find a .crash file
look for a corresponding .uploaded file which should contain a hash for
a crash report uploaded to the Ubuntu Error Tracker which we could look
at. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1965805] Re: Ubiquity failure - Error while installing packages Ubuntu Jammy

2022-03-22 Thread Brian Murray
The screenshot from the bug report does not match the screenshot of the
other people commenting on the bug report. Leo's screenshot indicates a
problem with the firefox-locale-en package while the other ones are
about contacting the snap store (which was down for a bit in the past 24
hours). If you continue to see an issue contacting the snap store when
installing please open a new bug report.

@Leo I don't see anything in your ubiquity syslog about firefox-locale-
en. Could you try recreating the problem again and also look in
/var/log/apt/ for a log file with a more detailed error message? Thanks
in advance

[Bug 1961760] Re: `disk-image` not granular enough, often builds unused artifacts

2022-03-22 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Ivan, or anyone else affected,

Accepted livecd-rootfs into bionic-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/livecd-
rootfs/2.525.58 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-bionic.

2022-03-22 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Andrea, or anyone else affected,

Accepted evdi into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evdi/1.9.1-1ubuntu4~20.04.2 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-focal.

[Bug 1965467] Re: Need to reset MT7921 BT when the firmware hang or command no response

2022-03-22 Thread Ubuntu Kernel Bot
This bug is awaiting verification that the linux-oem-5.14/5.14.0-1030.33
kernel in -proposed solves the problem. Please test the kernel and
update this bug with the results. If the problem is solved, change the
tag 'verification-needed-focal' to 'verification-done-focal'. If the
problem still exists, change the tag 'verification-needed-focal' to
'verification-failed-focal'.

If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will
be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how
to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!

[Bug 1960096] Re: package ca-certificates-java 20190909 failed to install/upgrade: installed ca-certificates-java package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 127

I have filed https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openjdk-18/+bug/1965987
under Openjdk-18 for Jammy but it's probably the same bug.
Imo the ca-certificates-java is not 'bugged', it's not adapted to Java 18. If
Ubuntu wants to distribute Java 18 before Debian is ready to do so, it should
maintain the ca-certificates-java package.

[Bug 1965658] Re: Installation failed - Calamares fails to create partition

2022-03-22 Thread Erich Eickmeyer 
Considering nobody touched Calamares since January, I'm pretty sure
we're going to see the same problem. This might be related to
https://github.com/calamares/calamares/issues/1885, in which the KDE
Neon devs found a solution:
https://invent.kde.org/neon/extras/calamares/-/commit/a87552adab9e6fb03e71e967ccac3a268903ae14

I might be able to fix this with that little nugget there, but it might
not affect Lubuntu, so I'm going to have to test it in the calamares
settings package.
