[Bug 1967219] Re: Wayland: Cursor is 90° rotated on rotated screen
** Description changed: I have a multi-screen setup with one of the displays being rotated (Portrait Right in Displays settings). Since upgrading to Jammy the cursor gets 90° rotated after being moved from a landscape to the rotated screen. This seems to be happening only in Overview or if cursor is hovered over the desktop. Hovering cursor over the application window (e.g. Terminal) would reset the rotation; however, after being moved back to the landscape screen, the cursor gets rotated again (but now in an opposite direction). This doesn't happen on Xorg and it wasn't happening on impish (wayland). + This doesn't happen if desktop icons NG extension is enabled. Steps to reproduce: - 1) Set up two screens, (1) being rotated and (2) in normal Landscape position. - 2) Move cursor to (2), it should be in normal position. - 3) Move cursor to (1). + 1) Disable DING extension. + 2) Set up two screens, (1) being rotated and (2) in normal Landscape position. + 3) Move cursor to (2), it should be in normal position. + 4) Move cursor to (1). Expected: the cursor is in normal position. Actual: the cursor is rotated 90° CW. - 4) Open the application, move it to (1), hover the cursor over it. + 5) Open the application, move it to (1), hover the cursor over it. The cursor would go back to the normal position again. - 5) Move the cursor to (2) + 6) Move the cursor to (2) Expected: the cursor is in normal position. Actual: the cursor is rotated 90° CCW. As in the previous case, hovering cursor over the application window fixes it's rotation. Additional notes: sometimes the dead cursor copy stays near the screen edge after cursor is being moved to a different screen. [Bug 1966591] Re: ssh-keygen -R changes known_hosts file permissions (mode)
Thanks for the bug report Evgeny and for the initial investigation, Lena. The following commit "fixes" the issue: commit f2d84f1b3fa68d77c99238d4c645d0266fae2a74 Author: d...@openbsd.org AuthorDate: Wed May 13 09:55:57 2020 + Commit: Damien Miller CommitDate: Wed May 27 10:09:19 2020 +1000 I say "fixes" because it doesn't do exactly what Evgeny is asking in the bug description; that is, it doesn't make ssh-keygen preserve *all* of the permission bits. Instead, with the commit above applied we see that ssh-keygen in Focal/Bionic start behaving exactly like what we see in Impish/Jammy, and the group/all *read* permissions are preserved, but not the (e.g.) execute permission. We can see that on the output that Lena pasted. Either way, preserving the "read" permission bits for group/all and dropping everything else is done on purpose, as can be seen on this excerpt (from ssh-keygen.c:do_known_hosts): ... fchmod(fd, sb.st_mode & 0644); ... I have already backported & tested the patch on Bionic, and it works. I will start filing MPs tomorrow. ** Changed in: openssh (Ubuntu Bionic) Assignee: (unassigned) => Sergio Durigan Junior (sergiodj) ** Changed in: openssh (Ubuntu Focal) Assignee: (unassigned) => Sergio Durigan Junior (sergiodj) ** Changed in: openssh (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: Confirmed => Triaged ** Changed in: openssh (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: Triaged => In Progress ** Changed in: openssh (Ubuntu Focal) Status: Confirmed => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1966591 Title: ssh-keygen -R changes known_hosts file permissions (mode) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/openssh/+bug/1966591/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1967204] [NEW] "help" app (yelp) just displays a blank window with "Ubuntu Desktop Guide" title on rpi
Public bug reported: I'm using the jammy beta (20220329) image running on an rpi4 8GB clicking on the "help" app in the dock launches a window with the title "Ubuntu Desktop Guide". The icons for forward/back, bookmarks, search, etc. are all visible at the top of the window, but everything else in the window is just a blank white area. On amd64, however, it seems to work fine. I also noticed that if I move the mouse around through the area, the pointer sometimes changes, and if I hover there for a second, a tooltip comes up with things like "Start applications" or "Visual overview of Gnome". I can click on these and it seems to take me forward to something, because the back icon is no longer greyed out, but I still can't see any content in the window. [Bug 1965686] Re: After the laptop comes out of sleep mode, the desktop environment for some reason breaks and appears crashes window
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Package changed: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) => ubuntu ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1965686 Title: After the laptop comes out of sleep mode, the desktop environment for some reason breaks and appears crashes window To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1965686/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1931902] Re: [AMD Ellesmere] Crackling sound on Pulseaudio
@ppq I've actually been able to determine what the issue was. The speech- dispatcher package is the one causing issues. It is possible to uninstall it from any Ubuntu installation (or Ubuntu-based distros). But to make sure that indeed this is what is causing the issue in your case, try to run this command on your Terminal: speech-dispatcher -K And check if the crackling noise will go away. If it does, uninstall it using apt: sudo apt remove speech-dispatcher (or replace remove with autoremove if you want to also uninstall any packages related to speech-dispatcher). It seems that this package will stop behaving correctly after some time with the system running, and will interfere with everything that pulseaudio will output. ** Also affects: speech-dispatcher (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1931902 Title: [AMD Ellesmere] Crackling sound on Pulseaudio To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1931902/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1890263] Re: release upgrade does not move to the new php apache mod
Here we should note that some pieces come from phpM.N, others from php- common: $ pkg-source php-common php-defaults $ pkg-source libapache2-mod-php php-defaults $ pkg-source libapache2-mod-php7.2 php7.2 $ pkg-source libapache2-mod-php7.4 php7.4 $ pkg-source libapache2-mod-php8.0 php8.0 $ pkg-source libapache2-mod-php8.1 php8.1 So, the fix for this issue will require updates to php-defaults on each release, and updates to the phpM.N package specific to each release. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890263 Title: release upgrade does not move to the new php apache mod To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/php-defaults/+bug/1890263/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1890263] Re: release upgrade does not move to the new php apache mod
Earlier I had speculated: > I wonder if there needs to be a dependency added for the > libapache2-mod-php virtual package. However I don't think this will work as a solution, because already we have libapache2-mod-php depending on libapache2-mod-phpM.N, so adding a dependency in the opposite direction as well, would cause circular dependence.
For testing method C, I've backported all the relevant PHP pieces to this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~bryce/+archive/ubuntu/modphp-upgrade- lp1890263-unfixed-backports (C.1) Considering only bionic, installation style 1 works as expected: $ sudo apt-get install libapache2-mod-php The following NEW packages will be installed: apache2 apache2-bin apache2-data apache2-utils libapache2-mod-php libapache2-mod-php7.2 libaprutil1-dbd-sqlite3 libaprutil1-ldap liblua5.2-0 libsodium23 php-common php7.2-cli php7.2-common php7.2-json php7.2-opcache php7.2-readline ssl-cert 0 upgraded, 17 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. $ sudo add-apt-repository -yus ppa:bryce/modphp-upgrade-lp1890263-unfixed-backports ... $ sudo apt-get full-upgrade The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required: php7.2-cli php7.2-common php7.2-json php7.2-opcache php7.2-readline Use 'sudo apt autoremove' to remove them. The following packages will be REMOVED: libapache2-mod-php7.2 The following NEW packages will be installed: libapache2-mod-php7.4 libpcre2-8-0 php7.4-cli php7.4-common php7.4-json php7.4-opcache php7.4-readline The following packages will be upgraded: libapache2-mod-php php-common Notably, this successfully moved from the old modphp to the new one, but did not uninstall other php7.2 binary packages. The system ended with both php7.2 and php7.4, but only with libapache2-mod-php7.4. I think this is what we want. To verify, I also purged all of the aforementioned packages, and re- installed libapache2-mod-php with the backport PPA still enabled. As expected and as desired, it directly installs libapache2-mod-php7.4 (7.4.3-4ubuntu2.11~bionic1). (C.2) Next, in a clean new bionic container fully up to date, I installed the versioned modphp: $ sudo apt-get install libapache2-mod-php7.2 The following NEW packages will be installed: apache2 apache2-bin apache2-data apache2-utils libapache2-mod-php7.2 libaprutil1-dbd-sqlite3 libaprutil1-ldap liblua5.2-0 libsodium23 php-common php7.2-cli php7.2-common php7.2-json php7.2-opcache php7.2-readline ssl-cert 0 upgraded, 16 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Notice that one fewer package is installed in this situation, namely the virtual package libapache2-mod-php. (This fact will cause problems later.) $ sudo add-apt-repository -yus ppa:bryce/modphp-upgrade-lp1890263-unfixed-backports ... $ sudo apt-get full-upgrade The following packages will be upgraded: php-common 1 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. So in upgrading with the PPA enabled, php-common gets upgraded but this does not trigger any php components to upgrade, so we're left with php7.2 and the old modphp.
