[Bug 1946773] Re: "An error occurred. Press enter to start a shell"
to Jeff: after received you email(2022/04/28), we used the ISO you provided (https://apc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Freleases.ubuntu.com%2F22.04%2Fubuntu-22.04-live-server-amd64.iso&data=05%7C01%7Czhouling12%40lenovo.com%7C05be528e37df4e9b45c208da2889976d%7C5c7d0b28bdf8410caa934df372b16203%7C0%7C0%7C637866868672059200%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=f8ktLGF6FRgDmR8JszPtNtU%2B6d%2BenXjokuHm47BJWkI%3D&reserved=0) to do following testing: both used one notebook with Windows OS and wifi network to access the XCC of a Lenovo ThinkSystem server; and to keep objectivity, I asked dedicated testers to do the testing: 1) the tester from my team to do the test: network environment: the notebook and the server - SR650V2 used were at the same lab, very close also got cloud-init failure reporting, pls see the pic -- test1-close.png attached, but when selecting "Close" option, the installation could continue, and complete; after installation completes, the OS can boot normally 2) the tester from PA to do the test, he is also this bug reporter in our bugzilla: network environment: the notebook and the server - SD630V2 used were at the same floor, the direct distance may tens of meters. but not over a VPN, may through access point/router/switch/. got cloud-init failuare reporting, as in the pic -- test2-1-close.png attached -> selected "Close" to continue -> got no driver found reporting as in the pic --test2-2-no driver.png-> got install failure -- test2-3-install fail.png, at this moment, we double checked that the ISO was for sure mounted, pls see test2-4-ISO.png. from the testcase 2), I can assume that if one customer of ours uses a browser on his notebook to a server in the DC through wifi over a VPN to install ubuntu2204 via locally mounted media, also will get failure. There exist such customers like dann frazier, I think. If he asks us to resolve this, what shall we say to him? put your notebook closer to the server or not use wifi? BMC products announce just as invented that the administrators can have a coffee outside and do anything they want to the servers in DC. And standardly current notebooks use wifi network. I agree with Dann,"high-latency media is a significant enough use case that we should try and support it.", and at the same time since our XCC has the function of mounting the ISO locally and install it to the target server, could you pls help us to resolve this issue? thank you very much! ** Attachment added: "pics for testing cases" https://bugs.launchpad.net/subiquity/+bug/1946773/+attachment/5586879/+files/pic2.7z -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1946773 Title: "An error occurred. It is in https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-build- meta/-/tree/master/elements/core-deps That group has some things that are not provided by GNOME like NetworkManager. [Bug 1971656] [NEW] rtw89_pci failure on Lenovo P14s with Ubuntu 22.04
Public bug reported: On a Lenovo P14s (RTL8111/8168/8411), the WiFi connection gets stuck at times. When this happens, there is no way to use `sudo`, the WiFi GNOME UI says NetworkManager is not running (which it is), and `dmesg -w` continuously outputs: ``` [90296.470925] rtw89_pci :03:00.0: failed to get available addr cam [90296.470935] rtw89_pci :03:00.0: failed to init addr cam [90296.586817] rtw89_pci :03:00.0: failed to get available addr cam [90296.586828] rtw89_pci :03:00.0: failed to init addr cam [90296.698790] rtw89_pci :03:00.0: failed to get available addr cam [90296.698797] rtw89_pci :03:00.0: failed to init addr cam [90296.810783] rtw89_pci :03:00.0: failed to get available addr cam [90296.810790] rtw89_pci :03:00.0: failed to init addr cam ``` The only solution I've found is to reboot the machine. However, turning off needs to be forced (magic keys still work for rebooting). [Bug 1925265] Re: Fresh install of hirsute-preinstalled-desktop-arm64+raspi has packages to autoremove
ok, figured this out a bit more. oem-config is installed (because you need a first-boot configurator), which is built from ubiquity source. oem-config-firstboot runs: apt-get -y purge ubiquity >>/var/log/oem-config.log 2>&1 But does not do an apt autoremove --purge afterwards. So the code needs changed to do this. ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu Kinetic) Status: Incomplete => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1925265 Title: Fresh install of hirsute-preinstalled-desktop-arm64+raspi has packages to autoremove To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1925265/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1925265] Re: Fresh install of hirsute-preinstalled-desktop-arm64+raspi has packages to autoremove
This bug has been open now and listed in the release notes for 3 releases, including the latest LTS, which is far from ideal. Has anyone reproduced it with a current release? If this is a preinstalled image, why is this reported against ubiquity, which is the desktop installer? I don't have a raspi to test on, but if I mount the jammy image and chroot into it (without booting) I see: # apt autoremove --purge Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree... Done Reading state information... Done 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. # ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu Kinetic) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1925265 Title: Fresh install of hirsute-preinstalled-desktop-arm64+raspi has packages to autoremove To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1925265/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1971650] [NEW] wrong check for "server" in libssl3.postinst
Public bug reported: A security update has just been applied to my system for openssl, and the 'reboot required' message just popped on my desktop. I looked to see why this was, and found the following code in the libssl3 postinst: # Here we issue the reboot notification for upgrades and # security updates. We do want services to be restarted when we # update for a security issue, but planned by the sysadmin, not # automatically. # Only issue the reboot notification for servers; we proxy this by # testing that the X server is not running (LP: #244250) if ! pidof /usr/lib/xorg/Xorg > /dev/null && [ -x /usr/share/update-notifier/notify-reboot-required ]; then /usr/share/update-notifier/notify-reboot-required fi Now, AFAIK this is the only package that interfaces with notify-reboot- required but omits the notification on desktops, so that seems to be an inconsistent policy; but even if we thought that was the correct policy to apply, the above check for a desktop is not because it doesn't match in the case the user is running Xwayland, which most users not using the nvidia driver will be doing now by default. Also, this is now inside a block that checks for the presence of needrestart, which is part of the server seed; so in effect this notification now *never* fires on servers, it *only* fires on desktops. [Bug 1960459] Re: Sage cannot be launched if `python3` does not point to system interpreter
Looking at this again, I believe this bug may have been fixed (or at least mitigated) in Sage 9.1, which introduced some changes to the `sage` entrypoint around the `exec` commands I identified in my original report. More specifically the changes introduced by this commit: https://github.com/sagemath/sage/commit/248c13b542b12521bd91d6648bd6220fb7593a26 (tied to this ticket on the sagemath tracker: https://trac.sagemath.org/ticket/29627) If I change `exec python3` in `/usr/bin/sage` to `exec "$SAGE_PYTHON"/bin/python3` (i.e. apply the changes in the linked commit), sage does load up successfully even if a virtual environment is active (i.e. if `python3` points somewhere other than `/usr/bin/python3`). IPython does still issue a warning about the active venv, but sage is able to successfully start. Not sure if there is any interest in a backport here, or even if this package is under active maintenance in Ubuntu, but thought I'd share some more information about the problem upstream. I should also note that on 22.04 (sage 9.5), sage does not start when a venv is active, although the error report is substantially longer and it appears to be a separate issue. ** Bug watch added: trac.sagemath.org/ #29627 https://trac.sagemath.org/ticket/29627 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1960459 Title: Sage cannot be launched if `python3` does not point to system interpreter To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sagemath/+bug/1960459/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Using the above link you just download the package set for a given version and install the set as one: sudo dpkg -i *.deb But certainly don't do that if it's a production machine and you have an acceptable workaround. ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1969815 Title: [radeon] Dual screens started blinking from blank to another type of blank for =<1 second each state To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1969815/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1958191] Re: Flickering and disforming booting into desktop both on wayland/xorg
Thanks for the video. Although it looks a little different to bug 1970426 I would definitely still class it as the same bug until proven otherwise (when a fix for that bug is available and if it doesn't work for your machine). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1958191 Title: Flickering and disforming booting into desktop both on wayland/xorg To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1958191/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1725814] Re: The Activities top left button reacts to a mouse-up (e.g. drag and drop) instead of a click
OK, no problem. This really isn't the right place to talk about a new bug in 22.04 when this bug is from 17.10, but since that release is unsupported now we can commandeer the bug. ** Tags removed: artful ** Tags added: jammy ** Description changed: Honestly I have no idea which package this is in and I could not identify it by following the wiki page for identifying packages. I had no luck with the ubuntu-bug command either. Feel free to migrate at your discretion. - The Activities menu/button at the top left in the desktop menu(?) bar seems to listen to left-mouse-up instead of a full click with the mouse. If I want to e.g. select all my files on the desktop by click-and- dragging a selection box and then end the selection at the top left of the screen I will then also activate the Activities button if I release the mouse button over it. I expect most button-like UI controls to only trigger on complete mouse clicks: mouse down, mouse up. Pretty much the *only* exception to this expectation -- that I can think of -- is when a click is initiated on one menu item and finishes on a menu item that is its peer. - - - --- - - Description: Ubuntu 17.10 - Release: 17.10 ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: Opinion => Confirmed ** Also affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu Focal) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu Focal) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1725814 Title: The Activities top left button reacts to a mouse-up (e.g. drag and drop) instead of a click To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1725814/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
