Hey, Have you changed the hard disk configuration on this machine recently by any chance? We are used to seeing this error when the install device configured for GRUB have changed. Can you run `dpkg-reconfigure grub-efi-amd64-signed` and see if it prompts you for a new install device? It could potentially have other causes as well, I am just trying to eliminate the common one. [Bug 2054925] Re: Debootstrap fails for Noble with base-files 13ubuntu7
** Description changed: [Impact] The last couple of days, I have been unable to run a successful debootstrap for Noble Numbat. Apparently this is caused by the addition of symlinks (/bin, /lib, /lib64 and /sbin) in base-files 13ubuntu7. According to debootstrap.log, it fails to extract said symlinks because they already exist at that point. This can be reproduced on build hosts running Jammy Jellyfish against any up-to-date Ubuntu public archive mirror as of today. # lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. First run uses mirror archive.ubuntu.com (which as of this report serves base-files version 13ubuntu7), and second run uses a local custom mirror (which serves base-files 13ubuntu6). [Test plan] Successfully for each of focal, jammy, mantic, noble - debootstrap - - mksbuild - - pbuilder whatever chroot management tool it has + - mk-sbuild + - pbuilder-dist $release create - ubuntu-image, if we can pull debootstrap from proposed for this as well as - debootstrap noble --merged-usr - [Where problems could occur] We do not anticipate any regressions as we replace the previous *) case for usrmerge for post-hirsute with a new jammy|kinetic|lunar|mantic one, and the new solution will only impact noble and onward. That said, this is a different approach than mantic and newer take, and a different approach than Debian takes, where they moved to merging post-extraction, even in stable releases. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2054925 Title: Debootstrap fails for Noble with base-files 13ubuntu7 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/base-files/+bug/2054925/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2055176] Re: Apps crash out when switching windows and using VMWare Horizon
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Run these commands: journalctl -b0 > journal.txt journalctl -b-1 > prevjournal.txt and attach the resulting text files here. 2. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 3. [Bug 2054121] Re: Random Freezing
Indeed those logs still don't explain any freeze. The WD 4TB USB hard drive keeps showing some hardware errors but I also doubt that's the main problem here. Still, to find the cause of the freezes we should start removing things from the equation. Please try each of these separately: * Leaving the WD 4TB USB hard drive unplugged * Selecting 'Ubuntu on Wayland' on the login screen * Selecting a different Nvidia driver version in the 'Additional Drivers' app. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2054121 Title: Random Freezing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2054121/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2055241] [NEW] Update on-chip oscillator clock nodes for Kria
Public bug reported: [ Impact ] * This models on-chip oscillator clock nodes in KV/KR/KD board device trees built for Xilinx products to be in sync with the corresponding board schematic * Currently a few clocks were not modelled which are planned to be included now. * Most clocks in board device trees are currently included so this should have minimal size impact. * The correct and cleanest approach is to model clock sources in Xilinx's application dtsi's in order to reference these clock nodes from the board device tree rather than having duplicated nodes in application overlay dtbo's [ Test Plan ] * Normal certification will test that the device tree changes did not introduce a regression on any certified platform. * Xilinx will verify they can load the dtbo's for the FPGA during runtime [ Where problems could occur ] * There could be an unexpected impact since there are discrepancies between some revA vs revB board device trees, all clock nodes not being modelled to be in sync with board schematics [ Other Info ] * Changes are pulled from Xilinx' 6.6 tree https://github.com/Xilinx/linux-xlnx/commit/bd1a7261325afa7526ed12fbaeb8f2e939bd02f8 https://github.com/Xilinx/linux-xlnx/commit/d9d492b32494611dbcc422d9f365a59df20c69b1 https://github.com/Xilinx/linux-xlnx/commit/a0fe3083d290f8507922a68daa60cb92d76d56b2 ** Affects: linux-xilinx-zynqmp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux-xilinx-zynqmp (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: High Assignee: Portia Stephens (portias) Status: In Progress ** Also affects: linux-xilinx-zynqmp (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: linux-xilinx-zynqmp (Ubuntu Jammy) Assignee: (unassigned) => Portia Stephens (portias) ** Changed in: linux-xilinx-zynqmp (Ubuntu Jammy) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: linux-xilinx-zynqmp (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided => High ** Description changed: [ Impact ] * This models on-chip oscillator clock nodes in KV/KR/KD board device trees built for Xilinx products to be in sync with the corresponding board schematic * Currently a few clocks were not modelled which are planned to be included now. * Most clocks in board device trees are currently included so this should have minimal size impact. * The correct and cleanest approach is to model clock sources in Xilinx's application dtsi's in order to reference these clock nodes from the board device tree rather than having duplicated nodes in application overlay dtbo's [ Test Plan ] - * Xilinx will verify they can load the dtbo's for the FPGA during - runtime + * Normal certification will test that the device tree changes did not introduce a regression on any certified platform. + * Xilinx will verify they can load the dtbo's for the FPGA during runtime [ Where problems could occur ] * There could be an unexpected impact since there are discrepancies between some revA vs revB board device trees, all clock nodes not being modelled to be in sync with board schematics [ Other Info ] https://github.com/Xilinx/linux-xlnx/commit/bd1a7261325afa7526ed12fbaeb8f2e939bd02f8 https://github.com/Xilinx/linux-xlnx/commit/d9d492b32494611dbcc422d9f365a59df20c69b1 https://github.com/Xilinx/linux-xlnx/commit/a0fe3083d290f8507922a68daa60cb92d76d56b2 ** Description changed: [ Impact ] * This models on-chip oscillator clock nodes in KV/KR/KD board device trees built for Xilinx products to be in sync with the corresponding board schematic * Currently a few clocks were not modelled which are planned to be included now. * Most clocks in board device trees are currently included so this should have minimal size impact. * The correct and cleanest approach is to model clock sources in Xilinx's application dtsi's in order to reference these clock nodes from the board device tree rather than having duplicated nodes in application overlay dtbo's [ Test Plan ] - * Normal certification will test that the device tree changes did not introduce a regression on any certified platform. + * Normal certification will test that the device tree changes did not introduce a regression on any certified platform. * Xilinx will verify they can load the dtbo's for the FPGA during runtime [ Where problems could occur ] * There could be an unexpected impact since there are discrepancies between some revA vs revB board device trees, all clock nodes not being modelled to be in sync with board schematics [ Other Info ] + * Changes are pulled from Xilinx' 6.6 tree https://github.com/Xilinx/linux-xlnx/commit/bd1a7261325afa7526ed12fbaeb8f2e939bd02f8 https://github.com/Xilinx/linux-xlnx/commit/d9d492b32494611dbcc422d9f365a59df20c69b1 https://github.com/Xilinx/linux-xlnx/commit/a0fe3083d290f8507922a68daa60cb92d76d56b2 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is

[Bug 2052637] Re: [i386] please add 550-server to the i386 seed

[Bug 2052971] Re: [AA license review] python-awscrt includes code with OASIS license
Reading the linked bugzilla issue, it appears the concern is about pkcs11 headers included from aws-c-io. The only such header included in the aws-crt-python package in noble is crt/aws-c- io/source/pkcs11/v2.40/pkcs11.h, which has at the top: /* This file is in the Public Domain. */ /* This file is based on: https://github.com/latchset/pkcs11-headers/blob/main/public-domain/2.40/pkcs11.h */ There are also references to THIRD-PARTY-LICENSES.txt. The only file by that name in this source package is ./crt/aws-c-common/THIRD-PARTY- LICENSES.txt which does not mention the OASIS license. So clarification is needed on what content exactly you believe to be under the unreviewed license, and what the exact text of that license is, since I am not seeing either in our aws-crt-python package in noble. ** Changed in: aws-crt-python (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2052971 Title: [AA license review] python-awscrt includes code with OASIS license To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/aws-crt-python/+bug/2052971/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2048876] Re: Allow server and pool sources to be overridden through a conf.d or sources.d configuration
Some review comments: 0. I'm ok if you prefer to handle this as debdiff, but the Server team traditionally uses git-ubuntu for MP reviews. If you're familiar with git you'll likely also find it more comfortable, however I understand if due to the time pressure you'd rather do it an already known way. But put git-ubuntu on your todo list to master, if it's not already. 1. As I'm studying more closely I see that the config for the NTP pool servers is part of the package delta that Christian added, so that is going to be less relevant to Debian, and also I see that Debian provides the d/sources.d/ directory that you're using already, so while I did initially think like the others that this should be done in Debian, I'm seeing now it's more relevant to us only. It can't hurt to discuss with Debian but it's highly doubtful they'll take our delta. Also, since they already provide the d/sources.d/ directory I'm less worried about divergence with them. 2. In the postinst, if you reverse the order of the if clauses you can drop the additional filecheck, i.e.: +if [ ! -f /etc/chrony/sources.d/default-ntp-pools.sources ]; +then +db_input low chrony/configure_default_pools_in_sourcesd || true +db_go +db_get chrony/configure_default_pools_in_sourcesd +if [ "${RET}" = "true" ]; +then +cp --preserve /usr/share/chrony/default-ntp-pools.sources /etc/chrony/sources.d/default-ntp-pools.sources +fi +elif ! cmp -s /usr/share/chrony/default-ntp-pools.sources /etc/chrony/sources.d/default-ntp-pools.sources; +then +db_input low chrony/preserve_user_configured_pools_in_sourcesd || true +db_go +db_get chrony/preserve_user_configured_pools_in_sourcesd +if [ "${RET}" = "false" ]; +then +cp --preserve /usr/share/chrony/default-ntp-pools.sources /etc/chrony/sources.d/default-ntp-pools.sources +fi +fi I also think that presents your change a bit clearer since on initial install the file doesn't exist in sources.d and will need copied in place, so that first stanza is what happens first. 3. "The maintainer's version and current version of /etc/chrony/default-ntp-pools.sources are different." I'm not certain, but this verbage seems a bit off. Can you doublecheck how other packages doing this same operation word the statement? (For example, as this is addressed to an end user, I'm not sure they would understand "current version" means the version currently installed on their system, and might not know what we mean by 'maintainer'.) If other packages are using this same wording style it's fine, but if there's a more conventional phrasing I'd go with something closer to that. 4. You might check whether the postrm should also do `rm -rf /etc/chrony/sources.d/` when purging. 5. Typically something like this should also be accompanied with some documentation regarding the change, such as in README.*, sources.d/README, and/or NEWS. 6. Does chrony-helper require any alterations? 7. There are references to `man chrony.conf(5)` in the service file. Probably worth checking the man page to make sure this change doesn't make any of its text outdated, and if it does include a patch to adjust it. May potentially be something to include in the Test Case. 8. Why is --debconf-ok added for these two lines? +ucf --debconf-ok --three-way /usr/share/chrony/chrony.conf /etc/chrony/chrony.conf +ucf --debconf-ok --three-way /usr/share/chrony/chrony.keys /etc/chrony/chrony.keys 9. The changelog entry could probably benefit from some wordsmithing. But I'll leave that to the next iteration. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2048876 Title: Allow server and pool sources to be overridden through a conf.d or sources.d configuration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chrony/+bug/2048876/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This will possibly lead to a prompt during an Ubuntu release upgrade and during an unattended chrony security upgrade. We are trying to move all configuration changes to their respective *.d directories. See: https://bugs.launchpad.net/livecd-rootfs/+bug/1968873 We test for modified chrony config file by invoking `sudo md5sum --quiet --check /var/lib/ucf/hashfile`. - Listing the cases that I know where we are not able to move chrony configuration changes to a *.d config 1. Azure: Azure needs all default pool entries in chrony.conf disabled. This is currently done by commenting out the pool entries in /etc/chrony/chrony.conf. There doesn't seem to be an alternative way to reset the pool set used by chrony through a configuration in *.d directory. 2. Google: GCP images need to set a single server source entry. This is done indirectly through the ntp cloud-init module configuration. The ntp module replaces the default /etc/chrony/chrony.conf with another file that has required server entry and no pool entries. I believe this cannot be done through an override in *.d directory without touching /etc/chrony/chrony.conf. This request perhaps can be extended to ensure that "negating" a configuration in the default /etc/chrony/chrony.conf should be possible through a configuration in /etc/chrony/*.d directory.

[Bug 2044657] Re: Multiple data corruption issues in zfs
I can only second @hedrick on his comment and as already written above, recommend everyone to build 2.2.2 by yourself. I am running 2.2.2 stable for a couple of weeks on mantic. I still have to fix one notebook here which got f**ked up (most likely) by this and reports no errors on a pool scrub but crashes with a ZFS kernel core dump on a `zdb -vvv -ccc POOL_NAME`. The pool is marked having errors and when you restart the machine works as if nothing ever happened. So it is a hidden ticking time bomb as you don't know when the system will crash. Unfortunately I wasn't able to narrow down the problem to a specific file system on the pool yet. But I can only recommend to go with the full 2.2.2 patch set which has been tested by the ZFS dev team and a couple of highly motivated folks involved in fixing the bug(s) back then. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2044657 Title: Multiple data corruption issues in zfs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zfs-linux/+bug/2044657/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2040410] Re: Merge pcs from Debian unstable for noble
This bug was fixed in the package pcs - 0.11.7-1ubuntu1 --- pcs (0.11.7-1ubuntu1) noble; urgency=medium * Merge with Debian unstable (LP: #2040410). Remaining changes: - d/t/setup: Use the output of "uname -n" instead of "node1" as the pacemaker node name. Adjust corosync.conf and restart services before doing the cluster setup. - d/t/control: add resource-agents-extra as a dependency of the snmp test. - d/p/0001-Do-not-depend-on-backports.patch: avoid dependency on ruby-backports. This is needed for the pcs promotion to main since ruby-backports will not be promoted. - d/control: do not depend on ruby-backports. -- Lucas Kanashiro Tue, 27 Feb 2024 19:11:59 -0300 ** Changed in: pcs (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2040410 Title: Merge pcs from Debian unstable for noble To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pcs/+bug/2040410/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
