[Bug 2048921] Re: [SRU] ubuntu-advantage-tools (30 -> 31) Xenial, Bionic, Focal, Jammy, Mantic
We have run the full ubuntu-advantage-tools integration (behave) test suite against the version in -proposed. The results are attached. All tests passed. You can verify the correct version was used by checking the output of the first test in each file, which prints the version number. I also ran all the Test Plan tests for the package rename transition - everything worked as expected and logs are attached. I did the Desktop GUI upgrade test manually and don't have a log, but it worked as expected as well. For the .list -> deb822 transition during jammy -> noble upgrade test, there were unrelated failures in the upgrade to noble, but the thing we care about - the transition to deb822 sources - is working as expected. Specifically, esm .list files on pro jammy were successfully transformed to deb822 noble esm sources files on pro noble after a do-release- upgrade. renanrodrigo performed this test and I think he has a log of the test. I'll wait for a final confirmation from him before marking verification done. The autopkgtest failure on mantic ppc64el was a flaky infrastructure problem and passed when I retried it. ** Attachment added: "pro-31.2-verification.tar.gz" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-advantage-tools/+bug/2048921/+attachment/5754204/+files/pro-31.2-verification.tar.gz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2048921 Title: [SRU] ubuntu-advantage-tools (30 -> 31) Xenial, Bionic, Focal, Jammy, Mantic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-advantage-tools/+bug/2048921/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2056609] [NEW] right-click and "extract here" does not give the same result as clicking into the tar.gz and hitting "extract"
Public bug reported: right-click and "extract here" does not give the same result as clicking into the tar.gz and hitting "extract". I have a tar.gz file where if I run "tar -xzvf " I get a file that is 30 GB in size. Similarly, if I double left-click on the file, and click "extract" on the top left, then it extracts to about 30 GB. However, if I extract the same file by right clicking on it and hitting "extract here", I get an output that is about 5GB in size. If needed I can provide the file. [Bug 2019997] Re: pro livepatch status incorrect when run as normal user
** Description changed: [ Impact ] pro status shows livepatch as "disabled" when "canonical-livepatch" returns an error. This can be misleading. It would be more helpful to propagate the error message up to the user through pro status; that is what the fix does. [ Test Plan ] In a multipass VM: ``` # attach to pro sudo pro attach # hack canonical-livepatch to return an error - cat > error.sh <&2 - false + cat > error.sh <&2 + false EOF + chmod +x error.sh sudo rm /snap/bin/canonical-livepatch sudo ln -s /home/ubuntu/error.sh /snap/bin/canonical-livepatch # check livepatch's status according to pro pro status ``` Without the fix, livepatch will show as "disabled". With the fix, livepatch will show as "warning", and there will be a notice that says "Error running canonical-livepatch status: this is a simulated error" [ Where problems could occur ] Since this changes how the status of livepatch is displayed, then a mistake could lead to livepatch's status being incorrect [Original Description] livepatch shows as disabled when `pro status` is run as a normal user, but enabled when run with sudo. $ pro status SERVICE ENTITLED STATUSDESCRIPTION esm-apps yes enabled Expanded Security Maintenance for Applications esm-infrayes enabled Expanded Security Maintenance for Infrastructure livepatchyes disabled Canonical Livepatch service $ sudo pro status SERVICE ENTITLED STATUSDESCRIPTION esm-apps yes enabled Expanded Security Maintenance for Applications esm-infrayes enabled Expanded Security Maintenance for Infrastructure livepatchyes enabled Canonical Livepatch service This is probably a separate issue, but similarly (with a few numbers I have replaced by : $ canonical-livepatch status internal error, please report: running "canonical-livepatch" failed: transient scope could not be started, job /org/freedesktop/systemd1/job/235 finished with result failed $ sudo canonical-livepatch status last check: 35 minutes ago kernel: server check-in: succeeded kernel state: ✓ kernel is supported by Canonical. patch state: ✓ all applicable livepatch modules inserted patch version: tier: stable ubuntu-advantage-tools 27.14.4~22.04 Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2019997 Title: pro livepatch status incorrect when run as normal user To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-livepatch-client/+bug/2019997/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2056605] [NEW] HWE 6.5.0-25-generic kernel does not boot due to VirtualBox
Public bug reported: Hi Everyone, I'm running Ubuntu 22.04, x86_64, fully patched. I have VirtualBox installed. Both linux-image-generic and linux-image-generic-hwe kernels are installed, just in case. And I almost always boot to the HWE kernel. [Bug 2056603] [NEW] FFe: Open WiFi network support
Public bug reported: As it stands, the network connectivity features of lubuntu-installer- prompt and kubuntu-installer-prompt are only capable of connecting to WiFi networks that have a password. This is non-ideal, as some users may want to connect to the Internet during installation via public WiFi. [Bug 2056187] Re: fails to configure BOOTIF when using iscsi
Hello all, I'm currently testing a patch to generate an initrd image for MAAS with partial success. The fix for the network is working well. However, when attempting to start a server via PXE using MAAS, strange errors are raised: Warning: Type of the root file system is unknown, so skipping the check. mount: bad address 'squash' This leads to an initramfs prompt. Here are the steps I follow to generate an initramfs: 1. Apply the patch to the script based on /usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts. 2. Run the mkinitramfs command. 3. Copy the new initrd file to MAAS. 4. Start the server to boot by network. I couldn't find clear documentation regarding generation and troubleshooting. Additionally, I'm unsure if this is the right place to ask questions about this issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2056187 Title: fails to configure BOOTIF when using iscsi To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/2056187/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2056593] [NEW] [FFE] FIPS compatibility patches
Public bug reported: We have an open MR with a handful of FIPS compatibilty changes we wore hoping to get into 24.04. The main purpose of the changes is to detect whether the kernel is running in FIPS mode and adjust the behavior of the library accordingly by loading the correct provider backend and using defaults that are FIPS compliant (no md5, DES etc) instead trying to use non-compliant code paths and crashing. The proposed patches were taken from the OpenSSL version shipped in the FIPS archive at esm.ubuntu.com for 22.04. Having them in the regular archive will reduce the maintenance work significantly. None of the changes should have any impact on running OpenSSL in regular (non-fips) mode. Below is a detailed list of the changes: - d/p/fips/crypto-Add-kernel-FIPS-mode-detection.patch: This adds a new internal API to determine whether the kernel has been booted in FIPS mode. This can be overridden with the OPENSSL_FORCE_FIPS_MODE environment variable. OPENSSL_FIPS_MODE_SWITCH_PATH can be used to specify an alternative path for the fips_enabled file and is used in tests. The FIPS_MODULE switch can be used to enable build of the the FIPS provider module specific parts which are not needed in the OpenSSL library itself. - d/p/fips/crypto-Automatically-use-the-FIPS-provider-when-the-kerne.patch: This automatically configures all library contexts to use the FIPS provider when the kernel is booted in FIPS mode by: - Setting "fips=yes" as the default property for algorithm fetches - Loading and activating the FIPS provider as the fallback provider. If applications load providers via a configuration either because the default configuration is modified or they override the default configuration, this disables loading of the fallback providers. In this case, the configuration must load the FIPS provider when FIPS mode is enabled, else algorithm fetches will fail Applications can choose to use non-FIPS approved algorithms by specifying the "-fips" or "fips=no" property for algorithm fetches and loading the default provider. - d/p/fips/apps-speed-Omit-unavailable-algorithms-in-FIPS-mode.patch: Omit unavailable algorithms in FIPS mode - d/p/fips/apps-pass-propquery-arg-to-the-libctx-DRBG-fetches.patch The -propquery argument might be used to define a preference for which provider an algorithm is fetched from. Set the query properties for the library context DRBG fetches as well so that they are fetched with the same properties. - d/p/fips/test-Ensure-encoding-runs-with-the-correct-context-during.patch: This test uses 2 library contexts - one context for creating initial test keys, and then another context (or the default context) for running tests. There is an issue that during the encoding tests, the OSSL_ENCODER_CTX is created from the created EVP_PKEYs, which are associated with the library context used to create the keys. This means that encoding tests run with the wrong library context, which always uses the default provider. The link for the MR is at https://code.launchpad.net/~tobhe/ubuntu/+source/openssl/+git/openssl/+merge/460953 Since OpenSSL just received another big update to 3.0.13 we had to rebase our changes and will have to rerun our install/upgrade tests. [Bug 2056585] [NEW] Asus Vivobook Go E1404FA - snd_intel_hda not detecting built-in microphone - ALC897 / ALC256
Public bug reported: [Impact] Built-in microphone of the laptop is not detected and thus does not work. [Fix] None identified so far. [Test Case] Have Ubuntu 22.04 LTS installed on an Asus Vivobook Go E1404FA, using the 6.5 HWE kernel. Open the Sound settings and set the device "Family 17h [...]" to stereo duplex: The builtin speakers work but the internal microphone does not show up. Checking dmesg for snd-hda-intel shows nothing under inputs for the device. The follow module options for snd-hda-intel have no effect: model=auto model=laptop-amic [Where problems could occur] Likely in hardware detection for the snd-hda-intel module [Other Info] mittebam@duchesse:~$ cat /proc/version_signature Ubuntu 6.5.0-25.25~22.04.1-generic 6.5.13 mittebam@duchesse:~$ lspci | grep Audio 03:00.1 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [Bug 2055939] Re: FFE: enable riscv64 Milk-V Mars board
I think this is fine. My only concern is that the package now fails to build from source on armhf, but that's unrelated to the uploaded change. However, I'd ask the uploaders to keep a lookout on the package and making sure that the armhf build is rebuilt once the time_t craziness is over. For now, approving the FFe. ** Changed in: u-boot (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2055939 Title: FFE: enable riscv64 Milk-V Mars board To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/u-boot/+bug/2055939/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
