[Bug 2059106] Re: I can't install linux-image-6.5.0-26-generic on jammy-updates

2024-03-26 Thread Juerg Haefliger
Do you have antivirus software installed? It likes to interfere with
kernel installations... Turn it off. Also, look at the output of `sudo
dmesg` for suspicious warnings and/or errors. Attach that output to the
ticket if you're unsure.

[Bug 1168030] Re: Apache2 with PHP FallbackResource doesn't work when Request-URI is / and encoding is gzip

2024-03-26 Thread andreabreaux
Ensure that there are no other .htaccess files in parent directories
that might override the settings in /var/www/.htaccess. Conflicting
directives in other .htaccess files could potentially cause unexpected
behavior. Verify that PHP is properly configured and that there are no
issues with executing PHP scripts, especially when accessed through
FallbackResource. Create a minimal Apache configuration and .htaccess
file with only the necessary directives for FallbackResource and gzip
encoding. Then, gradually add back other configurations to identify the
specific cause of the issue. https://www-ikrogerfeedback.com

[Bug 2059197] [NEW] Issue with nfs4.0 mounts after upgrade to 3.6

2024-03-26 Thread Jeff
Public bug reported:

Hello,

On Ubuntu Server 20.04.6 LTS with the update of nfs-common package =>
"nfs-common/focal-updates 1:1.3.4-2.5ubuntu3.5" to "nfs-common/focal-
updates 1:1.3.4-2.5ubuntu3.6" I started having issues mounting ntf4.0
volumes. The NFS server supports 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2

The issue appears when using '-t ntfs4' and setting the version using -o
vers=.

When using 1:1.3.4-2.5ubuntu3.5 I am able to use '-o vers' to set the version
when using -t ntfs4 eg
  mount -t nfs4 -o vers=4.0 -vvv SERVER.local:/srv/data /mnt/test
mount.nfs4: trying text-based options
'vers=4.0,addr=xx.xx.xx.xx,clientaddr=xx.xx.xx.xx'

  mount -t nfs4 -o vers=4.1 -vvv SERVER.local:/srv/data /mnt/test
mount.nfs4: trying text-based options
'vers=4.1,addr=xx.xx.xx.xx,clientaddr=xx.xx.xx.xx'

However after upgrading to 1:1.3.4-2.5ubuntu3.6 it always mounts as nfs4.2
  mount -t nfs4 -o vers=4.0 -vvv SERVER.local:/srv/data /mnt/test
  mount.nfs4: trying text-based options
'vers=4.2,addr=xx.xx.xx.xx,clientaddr=xx.xx.xx.xx'

  mount -t nfs4 -o vers=4.1 -vvv SERVER.local:/srv/data /mnt/test
  mount.nfs4: trying text-based options
'vers=4.2,addr=xx.xx.xx.xx,clientaddr=xx.xx.xx.xx'

I would have expected the specified version in -o vers to be used when
using '-t nfs4'

When using '-t nfs' I am able to mount volumes as nfs 4.0. I understand
that 1:1.3.4-2.5ubuntu3.6 fixes version negotiation so maybe this isn't
a bug and the intent with '-t nfs4' is to always use the highest
version. If so please feel free to close the report

Author: Avraham Stern
Date: Thu Dec 7 04:50:17 2023 +0200

BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2055199

[ Upstream commit ce038edfce43fb345f8dfdca0f7b17f535896701 ]

It possible that while the rx rb is being handled, the transport has
been stopped and re-started. In this case the tx queue pointer is not
yet initialized, which will lead to a NULL pointer dereference.
Fix it.

[Bug 2059149] Re: Crash

2024-03-26 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Please also follow these steps in case there is a separate userspace
crash:

1. Run these commands:
journalctl -b0 > journal.txt
journalctl -b-1 > prevjournal.txt
and attach the resulting text files here.

2. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

3. If step 2 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 2059181] [NEW] update-java-alternatives show error with openjdk-8-jre-headless

2024-03-26 Thread L W R
Public bug reported:

Alternatives for jexec have been excluded from the latest version of
openjdk-8-jre-headless (8u402) and this causes update-java-alternatives
to throw the following error:

update-alternatives: error: alternative /usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk-
amd64/jre/lib/jexec for jexec not registered; not setting

Solution:

Reference to jexec should be removed from
/usr/lib/jvm/.java-1.8.0-openjdk-amd64.jinfo since update-java-
alternatives uses this file to determine what alternatives to create.

[Bug 2059177] [NEW] dev package doesn't include *Config.cmake files

2024-03-26 Thread nega
Public bug reported:

For several years now, Ogg has supported auto-generated and exported
CMake configuration, especially when building Ogg with CMake. Properly
installed, this allows someone to merely use `find_package(Ogg)` in
their CMake project without having to jump through hoops. An example
where this is done well in Ubuntu is qtbase5-dev.

$ dpkg -L qtbase5-dev |grep Config.cmake
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/Qt5/Qt5Config.cmake
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/Qt5Concurrent/Qt5ConcurrentConfig.cmake
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/Qt5Core/Qt5CoreConfig.cmake
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/Qt5DBus/Qt5DBusConfig.cmake
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/Qt5EglFsKmsSupport/Qt5EglFsKmsSupportConfig.cmake
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/Qt5Gui/Qt5GuiConfig.cmake
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/Qt5Network/Qt5NetworkConfig.cmake
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/Qt5OpenGLExtensions/Qt5OpenGLExtensionsConfig.cmake

/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/Qt5Sql/Qt5SqlConfig.cmake
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/Qt5Test/Qt5TestConfig.cmake
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/Qt5Widgets/Qt5WidgetsConfig.cmake
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/Qt5Xml/Qt5XmlConfig.cmake

An example where this is done well for Ogg is Homebrew @
https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-
core/blob/175a655dbe76d08350ff941f9c9d7fd9ef2933d0/Formula/lib/libogg.rb

Please include the `*Config.cmake` files (and friends) in the Ogg family
of packages.

[Bug 2058557] Re: Kernel panic during checkbox stress_ng_test on Grace running noble 6.8 (arm64+largemem) kernel

2024-03-26 Thread Mitchell Augustin
It turns out that this issue does not appear with *every* run of the
aiol test on affected kernels, so multiple runs of that test may be
necessary for the panic to occur.

[Bug 2059173] [NEW] FTBFS: build time test error due to circular build dependency

2024-03-26 Thread Athos Ribeiro
Public bug reported:

Due to a circular build dependency (phpunit dependency chain), php-
parser is pulled during its own package build time.

Since php packages ship autoloaders that load the dependencies for a
given package when a package is loaded, the installed version of php-
parser is loaded when the system's phpunit is called.

This means that, when running the php-parser package test suite during
build time, we are actually testing the installed version (or the
previous version) of the package, and not the one being built.

This is mostly pointless and will trigger test errors when bug fixes
include regression tests.

Below you will find a complete explanation of the issue as discussed in
#debian-php in IRC.

For now, let's skip running the test suite for this package. Let's also
keep this bug open since we should find an actual solution for the issue
(and I also understand several other packages are affected by the same
problem).

20:55 < athos> hey taffit ! I took some time to understand what was going on
with
https://tracker.debian.org/news/1511003/accepted-php-parser-502-2-source-into-unstable/
20:56 < athos> I suppose I get it now (correct me if I am wrong)! There are 3
reverse
dependencies pulling php-parser back (circular b-dependencies)
20:56 < athos> they are all phpunit dependencies
20:57 < athos> SebastianBergmann/{Complexity,LinesOfCode,CodeCoverage}
20:58 < athos> although we are getting the local php-parser in the path in
d/rules (ln -s
   lib/PhpParser .)
20:59 < athos> the debian installed autoloaders will end up pulling the
installed version of
   the package anyways
20:59 < athos> (the package being tested, in this case, php-parser)
21:02 < athos> This is the first occurence of the issue I have seen, but now I
am wondering
if this is the case for anything in the phpunit dependency tree
21:05 < athos> if it is, so, for those packges, we are actually testing the
previous version
of the package each time we upload them and sometimes tests will
break (that
is the point of unit tests!) and that is why we (you) do the
binary package
   upload before pushing the sources
21:09 < athos> I wonder if it makes sense to run the tests during build time
for these
   packages at all.
21:19 < athos> But more importantly, I wonder how we could improve the
situation so we can
ensure the package being built is loaded instead of the
installed one in those
   situations

Unfortunately this doesn't appear to work. I've tried this on the
current noble dailies (which also suffer the 2 minute boot delay on
the server images due to this issue). The default netplan config is
simply:

  network:
version: 2
ethernets:
  eth0:
dhcp4: true
optional: true

This displays the issue, even with --any presumably because wlan0 is
unmanaged so networkctl reports the online state is "unknown" (even
when eth0 is happily configured and routable).

I attempting making wlan0 "managed" but optional. This requires a
mandatory access point to be defined to conform to the YAML schema, so
I added a fake one (I should open a separate issue for this because I
shouldn't have to make up access points just to mark an interface
optional):

  network:
version: 2
ethernets:
  eth0:
dhcp4: true
optional: true
wifis:
  wlan0:
dhcp4: true
optional: true
access-points:
  foo:
password: foobarbaz

Unfortunately this also displays the issue. This time wlan0 is
managed, but "configuring" and the online state is still "unknown". So
far as I can tell, the --any option doesn't match the behaviour
claimed in the man-page (i.e. "exits with success when at least one
interface becomes online").

This *does* work ... assuming the Pi actually has a network interface.
If the Pi is networkless, it's unfortunately doomed to the 2 minute
delay still. And obviously I don't want to make eth0 mandatory by
default in the images (which would break the 3A+ and Zero 2W, which
lack eth0 entirely).

[Bug 2056445] Re: external monitors flash white with every interrupt

2024-03-26 Thread Mario Limonciello
> Am I missing something to get the proposed
kernel?

I guess the same reason it's not migrating is the reason you can't
install it? Maybe some kernel team members can comment.

> It sounds like GTT access is what causes this issue, and that using the
bios option won't guarantee that it will never happen. Is that correct?

If you look at your journal from when this issue occurs you'll see an
IOMMU page fault. This is the IOMMU reporting that there was an
attempted access at memory that is out of the region that the GPU is
allowed to access. This can happen when there is a userspace driver bug
(IE mesa) or a misconfigured driver (IE amdgpu) or a faulty firmware (IE
the BIOS).

There have been cases of a white screen caused by an incorrect memory
addressing mask on systems with 64GB, but that's been fixed a long time
now.

It is definitely an attempt at accessing outside of VRAM but I have a
suspicion the address attempting to be addressed is ALSO outside of GTT.

> Interesting. If there's any extra info (or testing) I can provide to help
with debugging/fixing this issue, please let me know.

If you can add your details for your "specific" FW13 AMD to the upstream bug
maybe others who are affected can help with building the pattern.
I mean the memory vendor, speed of memory, amount, channel configuration.

What you do to trigger it, etc.

Re: [Bug 2056445] Re: external monitors flash white with every interrupt

2024-03-26 Thread Brett Holman
>> Should this fix the flickering issue? I'm happy to test it out.
>
> It will fix a colored flickering;

My flickering has mostly actually usually been white - not colored (though
I was seeing the colored flickering lots before I switched off of Wayland,
which crashed too often with multiple monitors to be usable).

I see that the kernel is available in -proposed via rmadison, but I'm
struggling to install it. I added the -proposed pocket for main to my
/etc/apt/sources.list and updated my cache, but an `apt upgrade` didn't try
to upgrade to the new kernel. Am I missing something to get the proposed
kernel?

I've seen the white screen and suspend/resume issues as well.

>> I'm curious about the implications of the two workarounds presented. I
see that UMA_Game_Optimized will reserve some system ram for the GPU,
which I don't have any issues with if there is some benefit. Will this
use scatter/gather and therefore perform better as a result?
>
> If you use the BIOS option yes it will carve out more memory for VRAM
use. S/G is still used, but GTT memory is less likely to be accessed
when you have more VRAM. If you turn off S/G then GTT will NEVER be
used.

It sounds like GTT access is what causes this issue, and that using the
bios option won't guarantee that it will never happen. Is that correct?

> The potential negative implication for the BIOS option is more RAM being
used for GPU that can't be for anything else.
> The potential negative implications of turning off S/G in the driver are
that the driver may run out of memory in some situations that require a lot
of VRAM such as multiple 4k monitor docking.

Good to know, thanks for the details!

> FWIW - I have a FW13 AMD and I've never seen this white screen problem
myself. I don't know if it is tied to RAM vendor, RAM size, or a BIOS
issue. My educated guess is it's actually a BIOS issue and it might be
properly fixed when FW upgrades to the next BIOS.

Interesting. If there's any extra info (or testing) I can provide to help
with debugging/fixing this issue, please let me know.

[Bug 2059170] [NEW] RTL8852BE can't connect on high 5Ghz channels

2024-03-26 Thread Ivan Baldo
Public bug reported:

Doesn't connect to channels above 64, so when my AP decides to use for
example channel 116 I get disconnected.

Can confirm that on Windows 11 it works in those high channels.

Even a "nmcli d w" doesn't show any WiFi's with high channels when in
other devices I can see them.

Using Ubuntu 24.04 Beta updated as of today, it did happen with 23.10
and 22.04.4 too.

[Bug 2059157] Re: proposed-migration for cups 2.4.7-1.2ubuntu1

2024-03-26 Thread Till Kamppeter
Debian had added their own cups.pc file to CUPS 2.4.7, overlooking that
already in 2.4.6 upstream has introduced a cups.pc file which is much
more comprehensive.

This broke the autopkgtest of cups-browsed in noble.

Fixed in cups 2.4.7-1.2ubuntu2.

[Bug 2058881] Re: [snap] Allow chromium snap to access Pressure Stall Information (PSI)

2024-03-26 Thread Haw Loeung
I've not observed any problems or hindrance as a result of these
denials, no.

Just more noise and thought maybe Chromium was going to use the pressure
stall information for something useful like for the selection of which
tabs/process to kill off when the system is experiencing pressure in
either CPU, I/O, and/or memory.

But all good if it does not and it does not plan to.
