[Bug 2062119] [NEW] autopkgtests fail on ppc64el
Public bug reported: As part of the added QA to libtracefs it was found that it triggers issues on ppc64el. It is not yet clear if those are just test artifacts or real deeper problems. Either way, while in the time pressure of the noble release the decision was simplified like "The tests didn't make it worse, just now we know" and continued (To not leave these platforms behind later unable to add it, albeit knowing it is still incomplete for now). It does not mean that we can ignore them for too long and certainly need to work on completing that into being fully functional in tests and real usage. BTW Chrome probably still defaults to using X11 instead of Wayland, and so you likely would hit bug 1970389. That's why I mention xlsclients... Thanks for the bug report. Please try: 1. sudo rm /dev/dri/card0 # to work around bug 2060268, and then log in again. Did that solve it? 2. When the problem starts happening please open a Terminal and run: journalctl -b0 > journal.txt xlsclients > xclients.txt and attach the resulting text files here. 3. While the problem is happening run 'top' in a Terminal window and tell us which process (if any) is using high CPU. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => nautilus (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2062082 Title: 24.04 Wayland vs Nautilus performance problem To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/2062082/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2042363] Re: AIX 7.3 NFS client frequently returns an EIO error to an application when reading or writing to a file that has been locked with fcntl() on a Ubuntu 20.04 NFSV4 server
Sorry, I can't distinguish which parts of logs in the attachments (#comment11, #comment12 and #comment13) are belong to the connection from working 7.2 and non-working 7.3. All the attachments have "TCP recvfrom got EAGAIN" which should from the connection for 7.3. $ grep "TCP recvfrom got EAGAIN" syslog_16042024_amaliada_primary_adamsongrunter_partner_both_aix73_part1.log -r|wc -l 213127 $ grep "TCP recvfrom got EAGAIN" syslog_16042024_amaliada_primary_adamsongrunter_partner_both_aix73_part2.log -r|wc -l 226005 $ grep "TCP recvfrom got EAGAIN" syslog_17042024_adia_primary_amberjack_partner_both_aix72.log -r|wc -l 20233 May I suggest to collect those logs in two separated files? One from 7.2 and another from 7.3 instead of mix them together. Not an network expert, but I see some NFS RENEW ops packets between 9.20.32.85 (server) and 9.20.120.127 (7.2 client) in tcp_dump17_04_2024_09H_10M, but no such RENEW packets for 9.20.32.85 (server) and 9.20.120.112 (7.3 client) in tcpdump16_04_2024_14H_03M. Given NFS4 is a stateful fs which is based on leases, without client send an operation to renew the lease, it is possible for server to return EAGAIN. And please check if 7.3 client is not same as 7.2 client regarding lease renewing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2042363 Title: AIX 7.3 NFS client frequently returns an EIO error to an application when reading or writing to a file that has been locked with fcntl() on a Ubuntu 20.04 NFSV4 server To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2042363/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2062082] [NEW] 24.04 Wayland vs Nautilus performance problem
Public bug reported: Apologies if I have misfiled this bug - this is a report of an issue affecting Wayland in Ubuntu 24.04 beta. Using 24.04 beta logging in with Wayland. Nautilus has very significant performance issues. Doesn't happen when logging in with Xorg instead of Wayland. Opening Nautilus windows - including normal windows navigation, and the file download location dialogue in things like Chrome - extremely slow. Takes approx. 10 seconds to process user double clicking to open folder. Attempting to drag folder across screen usually doesn't work, or takes a very long time. Not very skilled at debugging, but programmes like Gimp, which has its own built-in folder explorer for choosing a location to save an image, do not have this problem. Ubuntu 24.04 with X does not have this problem. No performance issues have been noticed with folder navigation, stat'ing files etc. over the command line. It is only nautilus and Wayland that give me this issue, so I suspect it is not an issue with my SSD. The following output was observed when starting nautilus over the command line: /home/me/ $ nautilus . ** Message: 23:43:50.560: Connecting to org.freedesktop.Tracker3.Miner.Files libEGL warning: egl: failed to create dri2 screen After approx. 10 seconds, the folder opened on screen. I double clicked on a sub directory, and it took about 9 seconds to open. I have attempted to show that this is not an issue with my SSD here: /home/me/ $ date; cd workspace/; touch foo.txt; ls foo*; cd ../; date; Wed Apr 17 11:58:16 PM BST 2024 foo.txt Wed Apr 17 11:58:16 PM BST 2024 As you can see, no unusual slowdown was observed. Obtaining the following setting for my bug report, I note that the 'Settings' GUI utility is among the areas affect by my very significant system slowdown. [Bug 2062060] Re: Calamares automatically creates swapfile with manual partitioning without any warning
I'm slowing my roll about changing the configuration. After discussing this further, there are a couple reasons why this is probably bad: 1. It will mean that users used to using the Erase Disk option in Lubuntu will not get a swapfile by default. This goes against expected behavior. 2. Ubiquity installs a swapfile by default, so we'd be deviating from the canonical behavior in Ubuntu. 3. It's likely much easier to get a user doing manual partitioning (who we assume is a bit more sophisticated) to remove a swapfile than it is to get a less experienced user to install one. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2062060 Title: Calamares automatically creates swapfile with manual partitioning without any warning To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/calamares/+bug/2062060/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
