[Bug 301364] Re: Intel ethernet card and RealTek card seem to conflict

2009-06-23 Thread AceLan Kao
Unfortunately it seems this bug is still an issue. Can you confirm this
issue exists with the most recent Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 release -
http://www.ubuntu.com/news/ubuntu-9.04-desktop . If the issue remains
in Jaunty, Please run the following command from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and
attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux-image-2.6.28-11-generic

If you could also test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine this
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.

2009-07-01 Thread AceLan Kao
This issue is reported happened on macbook, but you're using compaq laptop, I
think this is two different kind of problem.
It would be better that to create another new issue on the launchpad and not
mixed with the mac platform. There will have nice guys willing to help you :-)

And for the mac user suffering with the mouseemu, I just have a short
talk with the guy who responsible for the installer and he say he can't
remove this package from default installer, because there are some other
users use might mouse needs this package to have right mouse button. So,
there is no good solution right now, if you have any good idea, please
give us a hint, thank you very much.

[Bug 177859] Re: Atheros AR2413 Wireless not working with linux-rt update

2009-07-05 Thread AceLan Kao
Unfortunately it seems this bug is still an issue. Can you confirm this
issue exists with the most recent Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 release -
http://www.ubuntu.com/news/ubuntu-9.04-desktop . If the issue remains
in Jaunty, Please run the following command from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and
attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux-image-2.6.28-11-generic

If you could also test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine this
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 387794] Re: Wifi goes up and down

2009-07-05 Thread AceLan Kao
Per the kernel team's bug policy, can you please attach the following
information. Please be sure to attach each file as a separate
attachment.

* cat /proc/version_signature > version.log
* dmesg > dmesg.log
* sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log

It would also be best to wait and capture the dmesg output after you
witness the disconnect just so any error messages may get logged. For
more information regarding the kernel team bug policy, please refer to

and we appreciate your help and feedback.

[Bug 364309] Re: No wifi under EeePC 701SD

2009-07-05 Thread AceLan Kao
Can you please try installing the linux-backports-modules-jaunty
package. The linux-backports-modules-jaunty package contains and
updated compat-wireless stack which may help. Be sure to reboot after
installing this package in order to test. Please let us know your
results.

If the issue remains even after installing and testing linux-backports-
modules-jaunty, could you then please try the latest upstream compat-
wireless stack. See http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Download for
more info. If the issue exists upstream, we'll want to work with the
upstream developers to try to get this resolved. Also, after confirming
the issue remains with the latest upstream compat-wireless stack, be
sure to also run the following command from a Terminal

And then try to remove the extra modules that Mythbuntu inserted to too if the

[Bug 310760] Re: Built-in microphone on Lenovo USB webcam doesn't work when hald is running

2009-07-10 Thread AceLan Kao
Etienne, if Keng-Yu's patch can fix this issue, the problem is very
clear now. The i2c commands used to turn on/off the LED on the webcam
are wrong for this model. The turn on function is not working, so the
LED is always dark even if you're using the camera, and the turn off
command will influence the MIC function that result to this problem. The
short term solution is to avoid to send out the turn off LED command if
the sensor model is MI1310_SOC. For the long term solution, we'll need
the H/W spec. and I don't know if we have the chance to obtain that.

[Bug 575537] [NEW] Enabling function tracer and function profiler of the ftrace

2010-05-04 Thread AceLan Kao

Function tracer is the most important tracer of the ftrace, we need to enable

And according to bug 570389, function profiler is very useful for the

[Bug 310760] Re: Built-in microphone on Lenovo USB webcam doesn't work when hald is running

2009-09-21 Thread AceLan Kao
@Stefan, the patch is accepted and merged into the mainstream.

commit 4041f6b3b4deaa3c67fbe71b67c3c18ac9ce0207
Author: AceLan Kao
Date: Mon Jul 27 05:43:55 2009 -0300

V4L/DVB (12352): gspca - vc032x: Fix mi1310_soc preview and LED

The patches
gspca - vc032x: Add resolution 1280x1024 for sensor mi1310_soc.
gspca - vc032x: Webcam 041e:405b added and mi1310_soc updated.
will make the preview function not work, so I disable the 1280x1024
resolution
and revert back to the origin mi1310_soc settings.
And, using USB snoop tool on Windows to get the correct i2c commands to
turn on/off the LED flash.

[Bug 326986] Re: Key stuck with Samsung IR remote (USB 0419:0001)

2009-12-09 Thread AceLan Kao
Sounds good, we could help to push the patch to the upstream kernel, if the
author needs our help.
Besides, we could also cherry-pick the patch from upstream kernel to the karmic
kernel, so that you can have the fix on karmic.

The hash value of the 203b patch in the upstream kernel is
0810b51170570ed21cae56b8131db6a5e3efa584
I'll try to issue a SRU for our karmic kernel to adapt that patch.

And for the 171b patch, Robert(rs), will you sent the patch to the
upstream kernel, or do you need me to send the patch?

Really sorry to hear the driver is still not working, Please upload the
new logs for karmic, this' really important for us to diagnosis the
problem. The log collected command is the same as the previous comment.

I didn't have that experience, so I don't know how to do that.
I think during the installation, it doesn't need the network enabled. You can
install the whole system without network and then install/update package after
installed by .deb package from USB disk.

Advantech is submitting their drivers to upstream for review, and considering
that the patches are new drivers, it should be safe pull them back to ubuntu

  [Test]
  Verified on Advantech UNO-420 platform.

  [Regression Potential]
Low, those commits create 3 new drivers, and doesn't modify any existing
